  • WANT to office: Question on new HP desktop computers

Hello world. I think to buy a new computer in the near future, if all goes well, to replace my outdated Windows Vista, and I was wondering...

I know this may seem like a stupid question, but as I am not the most tech savvy, I noticed that all new HP desktop computers have disk on the side players. I really wanted to get a computer when I put a CD or DVD in laterally rather than vertically, as you always do on most of the CD or DVD players. I'm worried that my drive could fall and on the floor, if I have to put in on the side.

I was wondering, I would be able to put my turn desire on the side on my desk, or something (or am I supposed to), I wouldn't put my disks in side?

    Shrevedude

Turning the case on the side, you have two issues with the option - air flow and direction of the HARD drive.

Regarding the first, when you rotate the case and lay on its side, one of two things will be real - the CPU fan will point upward (which is good) or the fan will be pointing down (which is BAD).  You need the fan up to evacuate hot air from the case.  IF it is pointing down, it could not exhause air properly, your CPU is overheating and the PC will fail.

Regarding the second, I know that the modern hard disks will work in virtually any orientation (i.e., vertical or lateral), but I don't know if it is safe to run inverted for long periods of time.  So, again, it is a question of orientation such as if carrying case on the reverse side the HARD drive, I wouldn't.

Regard to drop the CD/DVD drives, they usually something mounted to prevent this.

    Good luck

  • HP Envy 700-216 graphics Office Questions setting memory

My computer, running Windows 8.1, has an A-10, with graphics card GPU in the HD 8670 D processor.  I know that it uses system memory.  I have found that it was using 768 MB on the 12 GB PC12800 RAM (1600).  I don't know where, or whether it is possible to adjust so that it uses more memory to my system.

Would be really useful to use a bit more, because I doubt I'll be close to everything medium anyway?  Can I pay, is it possible?  I tried looking in almost all settings, but don't see anything to get to this setting.   I noticed some things seem to take the activation in the BIOS, but not knowing what they did exactly, I wouldn't change a thing.  Also, I looked through catalyst and saw nothing there either, to adjust.

One of the reasons for which I had a processor A-10 (a series) is that I read later, you can add a graphics card, and that she would work with the GPU graphics to make for a better combined graphical experience.  But I noticed in the specifications of the motherboard (MS - 7778 Jasmine) the comment "If PCI-E card is installed you will have not yet boarded Graphics '   or something of the sort.  I was wondering what this means you cannot plug into these jacks on the motherboard, or the graphical part of the A-10 processor will just dormant?

Any help on these questions would be useful, as well as suggestions of the best PCI-E graphics to get.  I have a power supply 550 Watt here somewhere - just need to find and check to see if it has all the appropriate Sockets.  Thank you!

    J_Mike, welcome to the forum.

Video Ingrated will use as much memory system as needed up to 1 GB, I think.  You don't have to adjust.

Yes, the embedded video is disabled if you install a discrete video card.  However, it is not negative.  A discrete video card will improve performance as well.

The 550W PSU will be good for one of the new intermediate level video cards.  Most of them requires a minimum of 400 w to work properly.

  • Individual office question (can't see my source VM)

    Hi there;

I try to add an individual office in View 4 - I am using vCenter (vSphere 4, ESX 4 U1 guests)-when I reach "The Desktop Source Selection" screen, the list seems to be highly filtered view, and I do not see the virtual machine I want to use.  What are the criteria seen use to filter this list?  I guess that my virtual machine should not be configured for the correct way to view to estimate it as 'eligible' for display!

    Thanks in advance!

    --

    Mark Lomas

    Hi Mark.

Yes, it will be filtered on the supported operating system versions.

Maybe your VM is used in another pool? Then it will not be displayed.

    Best regards

  • Virtual office question

I'm new to VMWare View and am trying to set up a test environment. I created a Windows Vista desktop and a Windows XP desktop. While working on this, I thought about the IP address of the virtual machine. In our environment, we use DHCP but each IP address of the DHCP scope is reserved. If I understand correctly linked clones then the virtual office my user see points to the parent VM. Not all machines can have the same IP address and DHCP reservations are based on the MAC address of the network card.

How VDI handles IP address for each virtual desktop? I have to go right not reserved DHCP addresses to manage this problem?

    Thank you.

Yes, you must configure a DHCP server with IPs unreservedly to manage assignments.

and if possible set up to manage ALL the IPs potential (type of subnet)

  • -Problem of activation Microsoft Office on new machine virtual Windows Vista

I use a MacBook Pro on which I have just updated the Parallels Desktop virtual machine software.  This software has removed the earlier version (doesn't give me a notice, unfortunately, so my Office software deleted it from the virtual machine image).  Now, when I try to run office software in the virtual machine running Vista, I get a notice I need to activate the software.  When I try to activate online, I get a message that I've already activated all copies that I am allowed.  When I try to activate by phone, I'm going to "activate by phone" in the activation wizard, press the 'next' button, but then the activation wizard stops without giving me the phone number.  Help!

  • After uninstalling printer Windows Installer and Microsoft Office error "this update package not could be opened"

Original title: Windows Installer and Microsoft Office problems after you have uninstalled the printer

I tried to install more than one printer, a HP Photosmart C4280 by downloading the drivers and updates on the HP site. I uninstalled the printer after it failed to scan a document and I had no more use for it. Then the trouble started. When I tried to open some programs (iTunes, Skype, etc.) for the first time after the uninstall of the printer, a window "Windows Installer" popped up. After you have configured Windows Installer, the program would open normally. However, when I try to open any Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), Windows Installer appears, but it turns into a window that reads:
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer update package. »

Microsoft Office programs are open at all, and I desperately need my programs of Microsoft Office to work even faster. I would appreciate it if Windows Installer will stop trying to configure when I open a program also. Can someone help me please?
