Officejet 4500 scanning settings

Windows 7, Officejet 4500, HP TouchSmart

I'm confused on the scanning settings that show in the window menu / machine.  I tried to change by using the software and then get questioned about the naming and registration of shortcuts.  Where will I see shortcuts and what types of naming structure will be easy?

This system is brand new and it takes me awhile to get used to.  The Officejet works well and I have not yet optimized settings.

I wish I could choose and start the scanning of the console not the computer.

Thanks for your suggestions,

Sylvia

Setting up shortcuts will not appear on the printer in the HP software. This allows you to predefine the scanning options you want to use and then give it a name and create a shortcut on the left side of the screen. So when you want to scan multiple photos in a specific way instead of having to go through the configuration whenever you can simply click the shortcut that you created. What is the front panel of the printer is to select the settings every time you scan using the control panel of the printer.

Is it possible to do it on this device?

    Thank you.

    Hi zulwe,

You can adjust the DPI and PPI parameters depending on the program you are using. Because you are using Windows as your operating system, you can have this printer Officejet HP solutions Center. Check this box: scanning with HP Solution Center software in Windows

And no, we cannot do this on the device. It can only be done through your computer.

  • Feature does not not on Officejet 4500 Scan

I want to use the scan function on my Officejet 4500 for the first time.  My OS is widows 8.1.  Do I need a new driver download to get the function to start?  My previous operating system was Windows 7.

Hello taffy331 and welcome to the forums of HP!

I see that you want to analyze with your Officejet 4500 and Windows 8.1. I will certainly do my best to help you with this company

I'll that recommend if you have any currently installed printer software that you delete according to this document, uninstalling the printer software , simply because that, then you will be able to start from scratch. Once that is done be sure to restart your computer.

To scan, you will need software, so you can download the HP software for your printer using the HP printer installation wizard. This tool will search the software and download it for you.

Once this is done, please follow this how Scan: Windows 8 document, as it will also help for Windows 8.1

Let me know how it goes for you, and if I can be of any further assistance!

  • Officejet 6700 scanning settings

    OfficeJet 6700 Premium (Prod # CV078A) network (direct connection to the router). 1 = Win XP SP3 computer. computer 2 = WIN7 Pro SP1 32-bit;

A couple of questions about scanning. This printer has replaced an Officejet 6500 failure that has served me well for several years before suffering significant constipation of ink.

1 scanned files are much larger than those produced by my 6500. I adjusted the scanning parameters, including PDF (NOT available), B & W and size of file/quality under Advanced settings, the "smaller" value The file sizes are about 3 x what has been produced by using 6500 dpi (200). Any suggestions?

2 prerequisite software registered automatically scans as "Scan001", "Scan002", etc.. Current software requires to manually change the file name for each further analysis when scanning from the computer using the HP software. Is this correct feature? (If so, it is a step backwards.) See also 3 below. [Edit: point of Travis' 2 in response below deals with this issue - thanks!]

    3. scan of the computer (from the printer front panel) saves the file 'Scan0001', 'Scan0002', etc.  This works as expected. Why is this not implemented when using 2 above? (Or am I missing?).

Thanks in advance for the answer and enlightenment.

OK - downloaded Free Edition Paperscan v.1.8.3 and used the TWAIN driver to get the image of my Officejet 6700 using the document feeder. Registered 1 page file to PDF with dpi set at 200. File size is 22K. (Now, that's more like it.) Oh, and the quality of the image will appear better, too. [Edit: but see message below re.] NAPS2]

Same document 1 page using the old HP scanning, recorded as a simple pdf software with 200 dpi setting results in a file size of 177 K! 22 K vs 177 K - same, I can do that math.

Conclusion: there is something seriously wrong [ineffective/sloppy code] with the HP scanning software. (and I don't think they care)

    Recommendation: Fix it.

I'm trying to scan a doc with my 4500.  Everything seems to be fine: I marked it 'Save to Doc,' I see a preview on my computer, but when I type complete no file is created in my analysis.  Could it be because that the ' Scan To: ' field in 'Scanner Options' is empty?  Any suggestion is welcome.

Solved by following the instructions in the following mission: "HP Solution Center does not record the scanned files.

  • OfficeJet 4500 scan does not create a file on disk

Recently purchased, this replaces a PhotoSmart HP 2570, no problem with the software install, printer setup, network (ethernet connected), etc. Print and copy of work. Did not try the fax. Scan to file (pic to file) does not create a file on the disk that you use the HP Solution Center or on the button scan Panel before starting the scan.  "Preview scan" and "launch Windows Explorer in the save location after saving the files" are both checked.  I also used different 'save locations' and even created a new subfolder "temp1" from the root C: and set security to be "full control" for all of the listed users.  During a scan, all works well until and including the scan preview projected.  When "Finish" is selected, a progress dialog box is shown with a message to «Finish the scan of the computer...» "reasonable given the"Save location"by which the progress bar gets about 2/3 full and then disappears.  Windows Explorer does not start in the save location and there is no file created anywhere on the disk.

Appreciate sincerely all serious and constructive comment.  If I don't get this resolved, I need to go back and return to the PhotoSmart...

Download and run this HP critical update for their software v13.

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the aharondavidforums.

I saw your post on your Officejet 4500 scanning black images. You mentioned that the printer is also white image copy. Normally it is a scanner failure.

I would like for you to try the steps in this guide to see if you get positive results:

A "Failure of the Scanner" Message appears on the all-in-one control panel and you can not scan, copy, or fax

If troubleshooting doesn't help not solve your problem, then I would say call the HP Technical Support to see all the other possibilities for you. If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions: click here.

I'm about to throw this printer/scanner at the door!  I love this scanner but since I had to buy a new computer

with windows 8, no driver disc to install my software disc, I can't seem to get a complete reinstallation of HP programs to install the Center and I don't dare hit the 'add a device' since I reinstalled the full installation software, my computer wants to continue to try to reinstall the application when well even it is already installed.   I uninstalled, cleaned and reinstalled and no still no solution Center.  HP also claims that there are no drivers for the center of solutions for windows 8.  Is this true?   My scanner is 1 year old.  Everything suggests to use the windows fax and scan.  Tried, how ever it stinks and it works not just for what I need it to do.  It is the second time I bought a HP scanner and a year later have problems with the application.  I think I've read all the blogs you have posted and tried all the links so far.  I know not what is missing... • Scanned images and documents seized by my HP Officejet 4500 are spread

The first time that we put in place our Officejet 4500 All in one it failed the test of alignment, where you print a test page, and then the scanner.  The printer would be message has failed this test and it would be back to the default settings.  This doesn't seem to be a problem initially becaue the printer works great, but recently I needed to scan documents and all my scans come out slightly offset, as the type turns a little diagonally across the entire page instead of 90 degrees as the original document.  I found a few times, if the document feeder this problem was less pronounced in the first pages of one or two.  Tonight no luck.  All the scans have been distorted.   I look at the scanner through the glass, it looks like the scan head is twisted.  The printer will shake in a straight position, but when you close the lid, the printer is a kind of mechanical movement alignment and when I lift the lid it addressed again.   What type of aligning the procedure I do get good analyses straight and copies?   HELP is appreciated.

Thank you, image scanned on the glass, you can clearly see distortion (not just tilt), probably due to an irregular movement of the scan bar. When you see distortions like this, it's generally the hardware problem and scanner must be repaired.

  • HP Officejet 4500 G510n Scan via airport utility?

How can I get my HP Officejet 4500 G510n to perform a SCAN using airport utility?

Airport utility is not related to operating an MFP. It there is no scan via airport utility function or any what router airport. That is, the printer must be connected through its network and NO USB connection to the router. What is the Airport base station is the printer is simply a network client. No printer function any is active via the airport.

You must install the drivers HP and the complete software for any OS that you are running on your computer.

It's the HP drivers and software that will allow you to scan over network. Or if NOT, maybe... often scanning on network is problematic.
