OfficeJet 6500 wireless mode ensures no wake upward
I have a wireless 6500 newly installed. Once he falls asleep for a while (on the order of hours), he refuses to wake up. The power button and not another button on front of it will bring to life, is not accessible via radio. Only a restart of power switch it will bring back to life.
Running Linksys WRT150n locked mode 802.11 g, WPA PSK TKIP, DHCP, uPNP disables, MAC filtered.
Disconnected USB, DSL Frontier, filter.
Talked to the Helpdesk for more than an hour. Talk to the cat is about as effective as the help I received. I was told that I should not plug the printer into a commercial surge protector; I should just plug it directly into the wall. I learned that the power of 9 button # reset sequence.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

A side effect, we noticed with latest FW upgrade Apple their Airport Extreme wireless routers is that our printers is no longer a default gateway IP address. This should only affect printers that make outbound connections to the internet, as some of our printers.
When you set a static IP address in our printers, you need to set the (usually 255.255.255.0) subnet mask and the default gateway IP (usually IP address of your network which is the IP address of the printer with the last byte to 1).
I don't know if it's what you see with your Officejet 6500, but affecting a static IP address does not hurt as long as the printer is still on.

"HP Officejet 6500 Wireless" can connect dual mode?
Hello
I just bought printer 'Officejet 6500 Wireless' and have it installed on my desktop computer with USB.
My office does not have a wireless connection, it is wired to my router wireless port.
My other laptops are connected wirelessly to the same router.
Can I connect my other laptops (wireless) to the printer, while the printer is connected to the desktop via USB?
In other words, can it print from the desktop and at the same time print from a wireless network for laptop?
Thanks in advance.
Yes you can, but there is no reason to do so.
Router wireless (like all) treats all clients the same way, if they are connected through an Ethernet cable or wireless. In addition, all clients can communicate with each other no matter how they are connected.
I recommend you to connect your printer to your router via a wired connection if you can (its more easy and more reliable) and if you can not because it is not close to the router, connect wireless. Then, you can disconnect the USB on your desktop, and all computers on the network can use it.

HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless - bug Scanner driver - only on Windows 7 platform!
Date:
October 29, 2010, Roende, Denmark.TO:
Hewlett-Packard
Support / Department printer driver.From:
Jesper Simonsen
Denmark.Hello Hewlett-Packard
I have an error message you bringing on the
HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless
Driver for Windows 7 printer platform. This bug only exists on the Windows 7 platform
and not on Windows XP.I was hired to install the
HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless yesterday.
I have installation, installed, set up the printer.
I configured the printer to run
Wireless network with gateway router
SSID and WPA key and it went smoothly.
I installed the printer for
address fixed LAN IP 192.168.1.197
and I configured the gateway routers
DHCP pool to go until 192.168.1.195
for not to disclose the IP address of the printer. On a new laptop Lenovo running Windows XP
running on the same wireless network that I installed
software of the printer from Windows XP/Vista driver disk provided.
It worked fine with functions of printer and scanner.
I could also press the Scan button the
the printer front panel and choose the laptop
and then the printer starts and automatically starts the scanner
software upward on the laptop. Thus, it works beautifully. So I should install the printer on your desktop.
A new Lenovo desktop computer running Windows 7 32 bit.
This desktop computer also works on the same wireless network.
I installed the driver from the disk Windows 7driver to the address provided.
Installation may well see the printer on the wireless network.
I might send a print job to the printer.
But it does not scan.I have tried both:
-To start a computer scan job.
The scanner respond briefly to run the scanner carriage
down on where it should begin to start to
to scan, then it stopped all communication.
He sits for a while and then finally there will be an error message
No communication to the scanner, which had the error code:4, [(2,7,80040007), (3,7,0)]
-J' also tried to press the "Scan" button
on the front panel on the printer and then go through
options that are displayed on the screen on the front printers. It said on the screen before she had no scan options.
On the computer, it showed a message
We should update the list of LCD on the screen of the printer.I did it with the help of the HP solution center text.
I found where I could update the scan job type options.
I could add/remove them. Then, I sent to the printer.
Analytical work was then on the display of fine printers.
The same error: Scanner carriage moves down to the other end
the scanner then stops all communications from there.I tried to google the number of problem and error.
I found several other users with the same problem we had.
I could see a webpage that people could download
the latest printer driver, then it should resolve itself. The provided disks were
-Disk with drivers for Windows XP and Vista
-Disk with drivers for Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit)The drive for Windows 7 has been driver version 13.0.0
and I could download the driver 140.0 version (English)
(I guess that's v.14.0)So I downloaded this driver package.
(I downloaded it 28 October 2010)First of all, I uninstalled all THE HP drivers and software on Windows 7
and then did a reboot of Windows 7.Then I started to install the new version 14 of the pilot.
The installation went without problems.
But this driver has the same BUG than the previous driver.I went to the new driver HP Web site
and downloaded all the updates that were available and
installed to them all and still no luck with the problem of scanning.I had Windows Firewall turned off completely all the time.
It is therefore not the firewall blocking anything.
The connection to the printer is good because print jobs worked well all the time. Then I would try to connect the printer with USB cable
the computer fixed Lenovo, to see if there was a difference.
I have re-set up the printer so that I got the printer available
by USB connection.
It prints very well and can scan fine if
I put the computer starting a scan job.But if I pressed the "Scan" button on the front panel
then came the SAME error as before.
When in the list of type of scan on the front panel of the printer
has been chosen and then began the cariage scanners
towards the other end of the scanner.
Then he started by the scanner to the computer software
Then, when we pressed either the scanning/Scan now on the front panel
on the printer OR we pressed the scan button to start the scanner software
on the computer. Then the scanner stopped after awhile and communication
then the error message appears again. The wireless network is running a
D - Link router with wireless access point.
SSID: alsikkevej10 (not hidden, no special characters)
Encryption: WPA - PSK (WPA1-PSK/TKIP)
Shared key: xxxxxxxx (with no special characters)CONCLUSION:
This means that the error (bug) persists in HP
Driver software the feature scanner for Windows 7 platform. When I tested it, I had the Windows Firewall turns off completely.
It's had that nothing blocked in this way.
Wireless worked well because we could always print. The Lenovo laptop could always
printing AND scanning over the wireless connectionBoth analyze the types of employment has worked on the laptop:
-A started from the "Scan" button on the front panel of the printer.
-Started from the scanner on laptop computer software. So scan works fine on Windows XP but NOT on Windows 7 platform.
I would like to hear from you when you have solved the problem,
so that we can it works as it should do.HP, please respond to an e-mail.
Sincerely,

I talked to technical support. I mentioned a level 2 technician. He told me that most of these problems is caused by a bad operating system and reinstalling it would do. I got back up, restore the operating system, restore the data and reinstall all my programs, but he was right about the problem to solve. Seems a lot of work to get the scanner to work, but my computer is slow and refreshing it anyway. Moreover, the level 2 technician also said that they would recommend to reinstall the OS every 6 months. Not so sure I want to spend hours 4 or more on this process, but my computer works certainly better!

Scanner does not work on HP Officejet 6500 Wireless with MacBook Pro
I have the all-in-one Officejet 6500 wireless and print fine but the scanner does not work even after the implementation of suggestions on the Web site. I recently installed Mac OS x 10.6.8 but I had the same problem with the previous software. Scan worked fine until the last few months. I get the message that "HP Scan Pro quit unexpectedly" or "Sorry, an unknown error has occurred", but no additional information. I have re-installed the software HP twice but to no avail. What can I do?
Try the scan using the Image Capture in your Applications folder. Click your scanner on the left side, click "Show details" on the bottom.

OfficeJet 6500 Wireless, and Windows 7
While the basic print driver is built into Windows 7, HP has yet to release the complete software for the all-in-one OfficeJet 6500 Wireless. Exactly when this installation of the complete set of software will be available for Windows 7?
The full download of features for windows 7 will be available for your product at the end of January 2010.

Can't scan on my HP officejet 6500 Wireless after upgrading to Windows 7
After the upgrade to Windows 7, I can't scan on my HP Officejet 6500 wireless printer. I can print from my pc using the wireless feature, but I can't access the solutions Center where to access the scan function.
Since you say that you upgraded to Windows 7, you need to download and install the following hotfix that corrects some problems with the HP AIO devices during the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. HP OfficeJet 6500 wireless do not print because there are 2 days, I changed my wireless router
Original title: print printer print
My HP OfficeJet 6500 Wireless will not print because 2 days ago, I changed my wireless router. The printer is no longer under warranty and I'm using Windows 7 OS. I have
Assuming that there is a wireless connection to the printer, the most likely cause of the problem is that the printer is configured to obtain its IP address automatically, and the new router has assigned to the printer an IP address that is different from that which was initially awarded.
To check if the above is the question:
Controls on the front panel of the printer allows you to print a Network Setup page:
From the home screen, press the right arrow, and then select Setup.
Touch reports, click Network Configuration Page.Find the IP address of the printer on the Network Configuration page.
On your computer, go to devices and printers
- Right-click on your printer icon, and then select "printer properties".
- Click the "Ports" tab
- WITHOUT clicking anywhere in the list of ports other than the right scroll bar, find the line highlighted (the one with the box in the box)
- Is the 'Port' the same as the IP address of the printer that you noted on the Network Configuration page?
- Assuming that the port in the printer properties dialog box is not the same as that shown on the Network Configuration page, click the "Configure Port" button and enter the correct IP address in the box "printer name or IP address.
- OK your way out
To avoid this problem does not happen, read the User Guide for the your printer and configure the printer to use a static or fixed IP address. Choose an address that is in the same subnet as the router but outside the range of addresses used by the DHCP server on the router. You can find this information on the configuration of your router utility.
For example, most Linksys/Cisco routers use the IP addresses of the form 192.168.1.x and allocate addresses in the range 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.150. In this case, you should take a static IP as 192.168.1.20 (20 is outside the range of 100 to 150).

HP officejet 6500 wireless with mac os 10.5.8
I recently bought a hp officejet 6500 wireless which is supposed to be supported by mac os 10.5.8 leopard. everything works except the scanner. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers several times and still nothing. I was on the phone with hp for 2 hours of testing support and try different scenarios. I called apple and they say this isn't a problem of operating system. I can scan using my IP address in a browser, but cannot scan from the printer. Also, when I reinstalled the drivers from hp Web site, uninstall icon didn't come with it. can anyone help? This is the second HP printer that I bought that I had problems with and will be my last if I can't get this resolved.
We will clean all your system HP software and re-install:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
Click on continue
Highlight your device in the left pane
Hold down the Ctrl and Opt, as well as Apple and click on uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled, this is why we do not run this thing all the time)
Click on continue
Let the cleaner it is.Now, do a software update to make sure that the cleaner does not destroy all the important files.
Then, download and install the software for your printer.
