OfficeJet 6600 fails to print via WiFi in Windows 8.1

My 6600 Officejet will not print anything wireless (with the exception of the test pages).  Many other posts about this problem, but after about 5 hours of research, nothing has helped.  When I got to the printer, it worked great, but then at some point that this issues started.

Installation program:

-Windows Pro 8.1 (my problems seem to begin around my upgrade from 8 to 8.1)

-Router Asus RTN - 56U

-Firmware version to print is MIM2CN1322DR

-Install the latest drivers for printer from 11/03/14

Details:

-Whenever I try to print from any source (web, word, etc.) it fails to print and the dialog box displays a HP that says "doesn't have to communicate with printer."

-If I run the new version of the HP Print and scan the doctor AFTER a failure to print it says 'Print Queue error fixed.  However it still does not.

-If I run the new version of the HP Print and scan the doctor BEFORE a failure to print it says that everything is fine.

-Sometimes I can get the printer to print after restarting the computer and the printer, but it seems that once the printer goes to sleep, it stops working.

-Printing of the test pages always seems to work, and the printer indicates that it is properly connected to the network.

I tried a bunch of stuff already with no luck, here's what I tried.

-Tried to re-install the drivers (basic and complete) several times.

-Uninstalled drivers, then crossed CC driver of the HP cleaning all the 4 steps, then reinstalled the drivers again.

-Updated my firmware to the router

-Checked for printer firmware update, none is available.

-J' tried every troubleshooting step in this article: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02221706

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated, otherwise I could return this printer as I am out of ideas

Hi Cheetah12,

I was able to partially solve this problem, you can see the conversation in the post below.  It begins as someone elses question, but look for my first post in response.

http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/printing-issues-troubleshooting/error-message-quot-HP-OfficeJet-is-in-error-state-quot/TD-p/2752217

I will basically be this amount until there is a bug with Windows 8.1 or HP drivers on the 8.1.  I had no problem in windows 8 until I upgraded to 8.1.  It may also have something to do with the fact that I did a full format when the upgrade to 8.1, I made an in place upgrade.  However after cleaning off the coast of a trace drivers, then reinstall and still do not have work, I'm skeptical about it.

If you read the other post, I installed the printer, then I had to manually add the printer even through the IP address in the TCP/IP protocol in devices and printers.  A device uses the "HP". "Port and the other device uses the standard TCP/IP port.  There is now a duplicate, but now I can print to a printer (remember that I now have 2 devices for the printer).

So, in my opinion, it's a problem of port, and since then I have lost enough time, I spend more time trying to figure this out for awhile.

    Hi ma1210,

Given that this problem occurred after the upgrade to Windows 10 I think your best option would be to uninstall the printer driver and reinstall Windows 10 drivers for the printer. You can download Windows 10 drivers for this printer by going to HP support at www.support.hp.com site - then enter your product information IE HP Photosmart B110a... change the Windows 10 operating system, download the driver and install it. According to me, which should solve the problem. All the best...

    Hello
This can happen when printing over the network due to a problem with the operating system while performing a print job using the WSD Protocol, which is the default protocol used by the operating system.

Microsoft has released a patch that should answer this question.

Install the hotfix below and check differences:

Please let me know if that helps get the problem resolved.

  • OfficeJet 6600: Failure of printer, no error code

Down printer, no code error.  Tried troubleshooting tips; Reset no has not worked and cleaning of copper on the ink cartridges, not working anymore.   Printer 3 years so out of warranty.   This printer is in a holiday home and I remove the cartridges in the winter.  Is this a problem?  Is there anything else to try, or do I need a new printer?  Tried to submit the form to contact HP 3 times for nothing helped... the site could use improvement.

Remove the cartridges to store the printer for the winter is a major problem - which cause the printhead not replaceable to dry out, leaving probably clogged ink residues.  In the future if you have a printer with separate ink supply and print (like the Officejet 6600) heads the cartrdiges never be removed from the printer for more than thirty minutes at a time, and the printer should never be put off with the cartridges removed.

The following may help recover the printhead (maybe 10% chance).  Turn on the printer, remove the cartrdiges impression and drip hot water on the screens on the print head which would connect the ink cartridges.  I put about 3 to 5 drops in each screen.  Let it sit for a few minutes, then replace the ink cartridges.  Run three cleaning cycles in quick succession the façade or the Toolbox.  Is there an ink at all on the page?  If yes let the printer sit overnight, then repeat the process.

  • My HP Officejet 6500 has only prints via ePrint?

I installed my HP Officejet 6500 a Plus 2 months and it worked fine then.  The installation is with a Linksys E1000 wireless; I have updated the drivers and was able to Airprint to my phone as well.  I just came back to be out of town for 2 weeks and now I get the following error message when you try to print: "Unable to communicate with printer", the printer is unavailable or offline.  Similarly, when I search with my iPhone, I don't find any available printer.  I restarted the printer with no improvement.  The thing is, it seems normal and has internet access, with full wifi signal.  Not only that, but I sent a print job to the printer by emailing the ePrint site and which printed fine.   Any reason why the printer would always have wifi access and can print using ePrint, but not be available locally? (when they are all on the same wifi network)?

OK, let's put the whole system:

    1. close all (printer, computer, iPhone, everything).  Disconnect the power from the modem and router.

    2. start the modem by plugging the power cord.  Let it boot completely.

    3. start the router by plugging in the cord.  Let it boot completely.

    4. start everything else and let it connect to your network.

    Now, try to print.

  • Why am I considered the possibility of adding my phone to my printer via bluetooth while he was trying to set up my printer via wifi?

WHY I WANT TO CONNECT MY PHONE (BLUETOOTH) TO MY NETWORK, WIFI PRINTER?

I'M TRYING TO CONNECT MY PRINTER TO MY LAPTOP WIFI AND WHEN I TROUBLESHOOT IT, SHE ALSO ASKED ME IF I WANTED TO ADD ONE ANY BLUETOOTH DEVICE.  WHY WOULD I WANT TO ADD MY PHONE TO MY PRINTER?

Its generalization, the meaning if there are other devices on your network, you want to add to your network.

There are two main types of network printers: Wi - Fi and wireless.

    • Printer cable equipped with an Ethernet port to which you connect to your router or hub via an Ethernet cable.

    • Wireless printers normally connect to your home network using a Wi - Fi or Bluetooth technology connection.

Some printers offer both options. The instructions provided with your device should tell you exactly how to install it.

To install a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer connection

    1. Click to open devices and printers.

    2. Click Add a printer.

    3. In the Add Printer Wizard, click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.

    4. In the list of available printers, select the one you want to use, and then click Next.

    5. If prompted, install the printer driver on your computer by clicking on install driver. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    6. Perform the steps in the wizard and then click Finish.

      Tips

      • Make sure that you are allowed to use these printers before adding them to the computer.

      • You can confirm that the printer is working by printing a test page. For more information, see print a test page.

  • OfficeJet 7410 does not connect via WiFi and will not scan

I don't know if this post is in the right place, but here goes:

I have a 7410 OfficeJet that was connected to my home network so that I could print/scanning wireless to it from any computer in the House.  It worked well for a while.  I am running Windows XP SP 3.

We lost power for a few days during the hurricane (Fortunately it was our one central issue), and when the power was restored the 7410 wouldn't connect to the wireless network (we have FiOS).  I checked the unit identifies the correct system ID (and I entered the WEP key), but when I try to install from the desktop computer, it can not find the 7410 (laptop computer also was not able to find the 7410).  The only way I could get the desktop to detect the 7410 is to connect it to the router with an ethernet cable (it does not work with the laptop).  I also can't connect to the wireless printer if I put the IP address in my browser (I'm able to do when it's connected via ethernet).  Not sure if it is a firewall issue.

When the 7410 is connected to the router with the ethernet cable, I could print to it without any problems.  However, I can't scan from it.  When I try to scan, I get the error message "when trying to scan, could not find the required user interface file (Please reinstall scanning software).  I uninstalled and reinstalled the HP software, but I still get this message.  I also followed the instructions here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00516936 but that has not solved the problem.

This morning, I uninstalled the printer with the hope that, put it back in place could solve the problem of scanning, but now the computer is not able to find the printer, even if it is connected by ethernet.

I hope I gave enough information.  Ideas/comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

I think I see what's happening. You just need to reestablish the connection to the printer wireless. The document below should help you with that. Once you have done so, the software shouldn't have a problem connecting to the wireless printer.

Installation of the software of the printer on a wireless network or network (Ethernet) cable

  • HP C7200 all-in-One printer will not print via Wifi network

I used the HP printing and scanning of doctor, but none of the proposed solutions have solved the problem. Blue light for service 802.11 g wirelwss is turned on and connected to the same Wifi address as my laptop is now using. My Dell laptop is running Windows 7 and the printer works if I use USB instead of Wifi connection.  Any suggestions?

    Larrypat

I followed your suggestion and got the wireless link by manually entering the IP address of the printer during the wizard process.

Thanks a lot to get me down the right path! I love my new freedom of wireless service. Thanks for the help.

@oceanbob, Yes, I had the 6600 to print correctly after several head cleaning functions. Whenever you clean the printhead using the Control Panel, that it asks you if you need to make a more energetic. I think I had to do 3 or 4 cleanings in a row to get the black works correctly. My daughter has set up the printer to print in black only because she had need of color for first cleaning cartridges is not cleaned the heads of color. After my color will revive girl, we found that we needed to go through a new series of 3 or 4 cleanings. You just continue to run the head cleaning function until he starts again to print properly.
