Offset path

Hello

How can I create a path by a path offset / adjusted witch is not centered?

for example: from top to bottom: 1 pt black, white, 3 pt pt 2 white. See also picture as an attachment.

I tried with the appearance and the tool offset path attributes, but did not get the required result. Its possible to copy the path and adjust, she that would surely not for curved paths.

Thanks for any solution!

CAVOK,

Art forms are your friends.

Assuming that you mean... 2pt black, you can:

(1) create a black fill/no race 6 pt high rectangle (whatever length);

(2) create a white filling/no 3pt race high, placed above the black rectangle with 1pt below and pt 2 above;

(3) both select and drag the button new brush in the shapes panel/palette, select Art Brush.

Apply to paths and enjoy. You can change the relative thickness by changing the weight of the race of the track of 1 pt.

  • Offset path format

    Hello

    I work on the project and try to do something with offset path. Last time I worked on the project, I've forgotten what size I did the offset of the text path.

    I would ask if all change to see what size I offset the path? I'll try the same path of shift of size to other projects.

    Thanks in advance!

    Umit,

    If it is applied as an effect of direct Type, you can select the object and the effect > path > offset, then check OK, unless you have closed Illy in the meantime, and then you should be able to see what has been applied; After that you just click Cancel.

    Or if applied as an ordinary object > path > Offset path, if you still have the original (type described or other) and the offset path, you can choose one then the other and see the difference of value W or H. It will be twice the offset.

  • Offset path does not create a separate path

    CS6 Mac

    Looks like my Illustrator is listening outside. When I apply offset path of the compound object, Illustrator does not create a separate path for me, but both the offset and original sort to group together:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/xiu3xqcictx0ku0/Offset_problem_1.PNG

    I am trying to create an effect like this tutorial on youtube. But as the offset path does not create a separate path, I can't duplicate the same effect.

    No idea on how to solve this problem would be appreciated.

    Did you use the object > path or effect > path? Here is the difference

  • Offset path, leaving only the new path?

    Is it possible to use the 'path of shift' command on an object and end with just the new paths of offset.

    It is a double select / Remove the excess paths later.

  • Offset path under object vs effects

    Thank you!

    Under objects compensates the entire path and all the fillings and follow the strokes. The direct effect can be targeted to compensate for one of the attributes of the path.

    or can be slipped and fell at a level diiferent for all the path attributes

  • Offset path creates 2 additional paths not 1

    Hello world!

    Please forgive me I'm not a graphic designer, so here's my noobie question lol.

    So I prepare a document for printing on an epilog Zing Laser 10000. I have a plan for a cut I have to do, but I need to consider for the dewatering of the laser.

    That's what I'm starting with:

    help-1.jpg

    I'm trying to select circles and use the offset tool to make new circles in the same places a little smaller. However, when I apply the lag I get a new circle outside the path and inside.

    Here's what I mean:

    help-2.jpg

    As you can see there is now a larger circle, but also a smaller circle, but the small circles do not even have a circle plus small only one more despite the fact that I entered a negative offset.

    What can I do to get the smallest circle in all the circle? I'm still on the right track regarding the delay of path tool? Word game.

    Thanks for all your help! Your time is appreciated.

    I'm trying to create a text cutting from a form.

    I want the form to look like an expanded outline of the text, I did in creating the outlines of the text, clicking on offbeat path that created my desired effect.

    j darcy,

    A simple way, where you can keep Type direct and live effects, is for each artwork to:

    (1) change the magenta to white,

    (2) all parts before if not already, the Group

    (2) select all in the same work of art and in the tick of flyout palette transparency mask opacity do with unchecked Clip and invert the mask ticked.

  • Copy and paste / offset problems

    Hello

    I had a problem since my last update and I was wondering if someone could help me please...

    Whenever I have copy and paste images between 2 open files illustrator (using Illustrator CC), he applies a lag effect and I have to either extend the form to enter the effects > path > offset path and set it to 0. Does anyone know how to stop this?

    The image below shows an example of this with the bounding box where the left column should be, and where it has been implemented.

    Lena,

    The issue should be resolved with the new patch/update, 19.1, that should solve known issues unresolved with 19.0.1.

    If she does not appear, disconnect and then reconnect the creative cloud application. After that, the 19.1 update must be visible in the creative application of Cloud.

    Default you can move or adapt the work affected (a little), then press Ctrl / Cmd + Z to undo, to get it in place.

    This is a roundabout way to use until the issue is resolved.

    Or you can turn paste remembers layers in the layers panel, if you can live with the side effects.

    Returning to the CC 2014 will be also get rid of him.

  • Does anyone know how to draw along a path of a spiral? Lets say that I start with a spiral and then I want a path that is exactly one centimetre of the original track from start to finish.

    So, I need to create a spiral which is a cross between the linear spiral and the normal spiral. I try to be five lines just as far away from each other, but would be akin to the way a spiral looks when you use the spiral tool. I'm trying to create a piece of graphic notation (music). I'm at roughly the research to create the same thing that composer George Crumb created with his piece "Spiral galaxy", if you google you will see what I mean. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Derek,

    To complete what Chantal, assuming that the 1 cm is the total width covered by 5 lines:

    (A) if the original form of the spiral should be in the Center (the center one):

    A1 object) > path > Offset path 0,5 cm (5 mm);

    This will give you an a path closed;

    Deselect a2) and with the direct Selection tool ShiftClick, both end of path segments and remove them;

    This will give you a path offset on each side as well as the original;

    A3) object > blend > blend Options set spacing of the steps specified in the step 1.

    A4) select all the paths and the object > blend > make.

    You can object > blend > Expand to have real paths if you wish.

    (B) if the original form of the spiral must be in one of the sides (the exterior or interior):

    B1) object > path > Offset path 1 cm (10 mm);

    This will give you an a path closed;

    Deselect B2) and with the direct Selection tool ShiftClick, both end of path segments and remove them;

    This will give you a path offset on each side;

    B3) remove that unwanted/useless.

    This will leave you with the desired offset path and the original;

    Object of a4) > blend > blend Options set spacing of steps specified with 3 stages;

    A4) select all the paths and the object > blend > make.

    You can object > blend > Expand to have real paths if you wish.

  • Path to compensate for color change question

    Hi, I'm having a problem trying to change the color of my offset path on text.  I tried to follow the tutorials to youtube, but I can't seem to do things.   I use Illustrator CS6 is said by the way.

    I create the text, vectorize, separate from the text, then go to the pathfinder and Ctrl-click 'unit' on the modes of the shape for the compound shape.  Then I add the offset path.  My problem is that when I try to change the fill color, the offset path and text change color as a single object.

    In one of the tutorials I looked, a second layer of track appeared when the lag fix was created.  Then the instructor just clicked on the new compound path (path offset layer) and changed the color independently of the text.  This extra layer is not displayed for me.  I see the little "doughnut" next to my path in the layers panel layer fills and the offset appears in the appearance above the layers panel Panel, but I can't change the color of the independent offset of the text color.

    Here is a picture of the logo that I am trying to imitate:

    G.png

    I wish that the "G." to be green, while the rest of the text would be white with a black outline/offset path.  Best scenario would be to have the path shift around the entire text, while that have the ability to change the color of individual letters.

    Here's a vid of how I try to do this:

    Try to follow this tutorial:

    Compensate for the path - YouTube

    In this video (05:10) that he clicks on the OK button and a new layer of path is dedicated to the shows that it can select and change the color with.  I do not understand with mine.

    I promised to give another method:

  • Illustrator text on a path with a gradient from top to bottom?

    Try to get a gradient to text on a wavy path.

    I found problems / very similar answers, but not quite this one...

    I'm creating a poster. There the text of PROGRAM of COMPOSTING MUNICIPAL BACKYARD (2 lines, backyard CITED above, then of COMPOSTING PROGRAM below)

    The text has a light brown dark brown gradient running up and down on the whole text.

    The text is on a green background.

    They now want the green background to be a banner wave, and the text is inside the banner and follow the wavy shape of the banner.

    And of course that the gradient must follow the wavy form of the text, so the tops of letters are the same light brown and the bottom of all the letters are the same despite Brown, dark letters are flowing up and down along the wavy shape of the banner.

    I received my text as a result of the wave of the banner, and I have a version with the text now changed to the railways (and a composite path because it's two lines), but of course when I apply the gradient, the gradient runs directly through the letters instead of follow the wave.

    Is there a way to do this? I found a method of creating a mixture and stroke following forms apply it as an accident, but not what I have to do here.

    Thank you!

    Quoz,

    I think it is easier and better use a combination of follows, with the two curved lines of direct Type (especially if they have Anchor Points (numbers of) correspondent):

    (A) direct select both the path of nofill who wear both sets of Type, then Ctrl / Cmd + X + B to bring to the back, then give them a fill and lock the Type of path together.

    (B) attach the ends of the two lines so that they form a something like a distorted rectangle (you can select directly the end corresponding units);

    (1) object > path > offset path by the distance down to the top of the text up/down the low text, this should give you a closed path extra with straight segments end;

    ((2) directly select the straight end of the segments and remove them with the winding of B rectangle), this should give you a line of top and a bottom line.

    (3) give up and down the color that you want at the top of the letters above and below the letters down, the lines then object > mix > blend Options, with the smooth settings and align on the track, this should give you the transition of color behind the original lines;

    (4) to unlock, then select the two curved lines of the Type and the object > compound path > make if not already;

    (5) select the Type (Path) alive and the color transition and object > clipping mask > make.

  • My CS6 illi seems glitchy when it comes to compensate FOR the paths. No miracle solution?

    One of the things bigger, than I do in Illustrator CS6 is OFFSET paths. In CS5, he would remember what was my last distance, as well as what type (bevel, round, etc.).

    But this CS6 don't remember. He always default ".1389 - miter" and then adds the offset as a striped instead of a real extended object.

    The first choice is CS5, the way I like it to be:

    CS5offset.png

    a duplicate, separate path/object.

    Instead, CS6 gets this treatment:

    CS6offset.png

    the object SEEMS to be "rubbed" to 1/4 ".

    Can I have a product glitch? I have not clicked a certain box? Am I missing something?

    This adds a surcharge of 3 steps in each process that I do (I know, I know... 1 global and other problems).

    Thanks in advance.

    Don't think that reinstall will change behavior.

    The route of the menu object using not work as expected for you?

  • Pull on a path copied from a clipping mask?

    Hello: Level: Beginner, OS: Win7 64 bit HERE: Cs6

    I followed a tut to:

    rator http://www.cutelittlefactory.com/tutorials/Create-an-awesome-Space-Rocket-avatar-in-illust.

    down under the #4 step it says copy & paste the circle which is inside a clipping mask and drag it out of the mask in order to reproduce twice.

    but I have no idea how say instead, I pulled out of the mask, or even, in fact, how to go about pulling out of the mask

    so far, I copied and pasted in front... copying and pasting before bring it outta the mask?

    I need to create a new layer after that I copied and then paste it on the new layer?

    your time is appreciated. I'm going to continue my search for an answer

    Kara,

    Abstain further comments on the tutorial, there is no need to delete anything.

    You can simply:

    Create the circle and shift two ways (this is visible), and then click the original circle and shape and the underlying object > make a clipping mask. Alternatively, you can start with either riveted and offset circles twice by the same amount.

    Or, if you must, start the same way as the tutorial (when all is deselected):

    (1) select direct the shadow and the object > path > offset whatever it is;

    (2) Ctrl / Cmd + X + F to bring the first lag path above the clipping mask (you can give it a stroke if you wish;

    (3) object > path > Offset path the other way (by double the amount with the reverse offset).
