Old PC games

I have a bunch of old PC games: Mall Tycoon 2, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, Luxury Liner Tycoon and the Sims Deluxe Edition.

They seem to only work on Windows XP/Me/98.

Is it possible to make it work on Windows 7?

  • Plug-ins designed to imitate old video games 8-bit graphics?

I know you can Pixelize with spinning / pixelation / mosaic, but for some reason images I put through this filter do not resemble the old of the 80 / 90 video of the game graphics. Not sure if it's the pixellisant itself, or - more likely - the number of colors used.

Y at - it a plugin out there specifically designed to make an image like it came straight out of an old video game?

  • Star wars the old Republic game

I loaded the game star wars the old Republic x 86 and signed in and then I listen to music but to a white screen black cannot play, I tried compatibility in Windows 7, the windows xp server 2 pack and as an administrater and uninstalled installed several times in x 64 and x 32 but still the same problem not a black screen blank , I know that its not working because I can hear the sound and music of the game, please can you help me?

A complete list of the specifications for the system are often useful, but--
-It could be that you have chosen a resolution that your monitor cannot be used.
-Alternatively, you may just need to update your graphics drivers.

-What are you referring to-"installed several times in x 64 and x 32?
If the game has an option select you one that fits your version of Windows.

-Unless you're talking about Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, you shouldn't have
to use any compatibility setting.  In fact, you shouldn't have the compatibility settings for
the first version either - I do not have.

There was some discussion posted about 'Star Wars the Old Republic'.
You can find a solution in one of them, or on the web site of games.

  • where can I I get - find the 'old' hearts game - not the hearts of internet

I only have hearts to the internet, but want just hearts.  where can I find/get it.

    Hi WarmOne,

By default, Windows XP includes games FreeCell, hearts, Minesweeper, Pinball, Solitaire and Spider Solitaire.

It would be possible that this game could be unchecked in 'Add/Remove Windows components.

See the link below for more information check box to activate the game.

  • I want to play my old games

When we went from windows 98 to Vista, all my old sedentary games that don't involve not destroy the world, killing all the aliens or being generally destructive wouldn't.
Payment of another amount of xxx £ will allow me relaxing games that help to freshen up and calm down after the frenetic work that I do, be playable on the new system? or should I just go to a boot sale and buy an old machine?

In The Settlers series is you should try the official table . There are a lot of people play games (or attempt to play games) on XP/Vista and later versions.

I know for a fact that the settlers 2 can run on Windows Vista because gog.com re-released with Vista compatibility. Generally good old games (gog.com) do things that users want not themselves, which means: the search for solutions make the old XP/Vista-compatible games, then releasing a new installer (with the authorization of the owners of copyright, of course). However, there are solutions for the most of old games without the need to pass through services such as GOG, if you have the original CD. The only thing is that it may take some research, download, tweaking and hit in the right places (like the link I mentioned above for The Settlers) before the game to work perfectly on the latest OS.

To answer your first question, if you have never got a game to work on Vista, there is little chance that this will work better on Windows 7 so spend more money for a newer OS is not the solution.  However, if you manage to get a game running on Vista, the chances that it will also work on seven (using the same advice as you applied for Vista) are very good.

The only advice I can give you is to start with a search in your favorite search engine (Google, Bing... whatever) on the web for the title of the game you have in mind and 'Windows Vista' (for example for settlers 2, you would type in ' settlers "Windows Vista' 2" -citations are important because they tell the search engine to look for settlers 2 and Windows Vista on the same page ") rather than look for all of the word so that will save you a large number of irrelevant results) and then review the results. Depending on the game (is it well known? Is there a community of users around it well?) the chances to quickly find and answer to run your old games on your system may vary. Generally, you will be able to more quickly find reliable solutions for games that are followed by a strong community for games that nobody don't even remember. Some old games with a huge fan base have community sites already there to help you and that probably already have all the answers (like the thief with ttlg.com series). On the other hand, you can be out of luck if you have a game that few people care about play.

    Good luck in your search...

  • Windows 7 compatibility with the old game

I used the resolution of compatibility issues in Control Panel to install my old pc game (cake mania 2) it installs and the game plays fine until I have shut down the game and try to reopen it. The convenience store said detected incompatible application.

the programmer of the game say they're working on an upgrade to it. but do not know when it will be available.

What don't get me, is why he runs very well the first time. I can even uninstall. reinstall it with the convenience store and my saved game is still there, and the game works perfectly until I got close.

    I am confused? Any ideas?

    empony

    Hi empony,

When you are working on your computer and install a new program, the installation suddenly fails. Now, you're left with a partly installed program. You try to install the program again, but you're unsuccessful. Or, maybe you have problems trying to remove an old program because the installation files are damaged.

Download and install the Windows Cleanup utility to uninstall the game completely from the computer, and then start with a new facility.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/290301

Once done with the uninstallation, you can install the game in Compatibility Mode and check if it works very well.

Access the link below to install the game in Compatibility Mode.

Also, make sure that you temporarily disable any Antivirus software on the computer.

Make sure that you enable the security software after the attempt.

  • old games compatible with wins 7 64-bit

My daughter bought 3 games to play, they are "thrillvile - off the rails, the school Tycoon and the giant Hotel, not the games more popular or well known in the world, the problem is that they are old enough games according to the labels and packaging that they have been made public since 2002, nobody knows if they will play on a laptop running windows 7 64 bit. , I said not to open them (there were some tears, she is only 11) and to be honest, I asked the Director of the local game store she bought in it was pretty honest to admit not having a clue about the games playing on a 64-bit platform he has promised to give a full refund if I wanted to no help, advice and assumptions are welcome, thanks in advance.

You can check this site to see if the games are here.

If they are not there, its trial and error. Try to install in compatibility mode, if they do not immediately the bat.

  • Trying to play an old game, virtual machine need Java for Windows 7 (apparently).

Yes, probably less technical question ever posted on this forum. I'm playing an old WildTangent game called Dark Orbit. My laptop running Windows 7. I found the game on download.com (chance), but he refuses to start. After searching around for a while, I found a thread on WildTangent forums on this game and mistakes, meet people; a post said of "the error is mainly due to the old version of the WT channel game... and the game does not work because of the lack of virtual machine Java on Windows 7." Anyone have any ideas?

Here is a link to the topic, if anyone is curious. http://Forum.WildGames.com/topic/15101-original-dark-orbit/

Then go to java.com and install Java. This is the forum for Java developers.

What may be referring to is the old Microsoft Java Virtual Machine however wire that was once part of Internet Explorer. If the game that needs you most likely don't not will be able to play it on Windows 7 that Microsoft can't do this no more.
