On a "home" network remote access
Im a volunteer at my church and Im help the office. They have recently implemented a new workstation running Windows 7 Edition Home Premium. Admin Asst has 8.1 Windows Pro. She would like to access the Win 7 machine remotely because it has an application it needs to consult and can't always walk to the office where its located. I tried accessing it on several occasions, but the machine to WIN 8 can't see Win 7 (I can map the Win 8 machine records so he does not see the device). I tried the name and IP address.
Can I assume that a workstation running Windows WELCOME editions cannot be accessed remotely by? Thank you.
Bklynrr
There is a much easier way. There is a 3rd party app called team Viewer which is easy to use, the test bullets and free to use.
This is the gold standard for those of us who need to do remote access

Windows home server 2011 - remote access error - wrong password or account to GoDaddy
My windows Home server remote access does not recognize the domain, I've implemented into Go Daddy.
The login and the password are considered bad by the wizard.
Of course I can access with login and password to godaddy.com and everything is nominal.
I noticed the problem 4 weeks ago. No solution has worked so far.
I tried even to remove the entry in the register (via REGEDIT), I found a link to that in the past. But the problem remains.
I fear that some change was introduced on the way the security part

After the remote access connection, network printers disconnected
I hope someone can help me here.
In Windows Vista, whenever I would give the remote access connection to my PC at home, my default printer (which was be a shared printer on the network out of my server) will prepare its default value. It was boring but easily fixible.
I've since upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and I'm having a related problem. Now every time I connect remotely to my home PC, my default printer (same network shared printer - HP LJ 4000) disconnects, and it only comes back online after a reboot.
It is a point of pain is huge for me because I usually 20 + / applications windows running at a given time and a restart takes 30 minutes out of my day to get back to where I was.
Any help would be appreciated. Jeff Balcerzak

Any help or pointers greatly appreciated, I have do this config after a long interval on Cisco of the last time I was working it was all PIX so just need to expert eyes to let me know if I'm missing something.
And yes I don't have a domestic network host to test against, all I have is a switch that cannot route and bridge default ip helps too...
Hello
The first thing you should do to avoid problems is to change the pool VPN to something else than the current LAN they are not really directly connected in the same network segment.
You can try the following changes
attributes global-tunnel-group RAVPN
No address RAVPN pool
no mask RAVPN 192.168.200.1 - 192.168.200.254 255.255.255.0 ip local pool
local pool RAVPN 192.168.201.1 - 192.168.201.254 255.255.255.0 IP mask
attributes global-tunnel-group RAVPN
address RAVPN pool
no nat (it is, inside) static source NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.200.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.200.0_24 static destination NETWORK_OBJ_192.9.200.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.9.200.0_24
In the above you first delete the VPN "tunnel-group" Pool and then delete and re-create the VPN pool with another network and then insert the same "tunnel-group". NEX will remove the current configuration of the NAT.
the object of the LAN network
192.168.200.0 subnet 255.255.255.0
network of the VPN-POOL object
192.168.201.0 subnet 255.255.255.0
NAT (inside, outside) 1 static source LAN LAN to static destination VPN-VPN-POOL
NAT configurations above adds the correct NAT0 configuration for the VPN Pool has changed. It also inserts the NAT rule to the Summit before the dynamic PAT rule you currently have. He is also one of the problems with the configurations that it replaces your current NAT configurations.
You have your dynamic PAT rule at the top of your NAT rules currently that is not a good idea. If you want to change to something else will not replace other NAT configurations in the future, you can make the following change.

My desktop (host) is running Win7 Pro and my (client) laptop is running Win 7 Home Premium. For the office, I went to the control panel and allows remote connections. When I try to connect with the laptop in my same home network, I get an error message: Remote Desktop cannot connect to the remote computer you for one of the following reasons:
(1) remote access to the server is not enabled
(2) the remote computer is disabled
(3) the remote computer is not available on the network
Now, the computer is on and I can see what he listed as one of my computers on network. In fact, I accessed the command of remote desktop by right-clicking on the desktop in the list of networks and by selecting Remote Desktop in the menu dropdown.
Obviously, I am missing something or something wrong. Please help me to understand.
What do you call the remote [DRC] host desktop desktop machine, IE. local LAN IP static, the laptop?
See this help as possible...

All my iTunes music is on a disk hard Ext. connected to my home network through a router. Is it possible that devices that are part of my home network share iTunes can access the music on this disc hard Ext. without my laptop being on?
Additional information: the laptop is what I used to install all the music, via iTunes, which is located on the external hard drive connected through home network router.
Is it possible that devices that are part of my home network share iTunes can access the music on this disc hard Ext. without my laptop being on?

Home network (MSHOME) working group worked OK for the last 3 years. DSL, with an attached DLink wireless router cable modem. The network has been implemented with a Lenovo Thinkpad R60 that Windows XP with a USB attached HP PSC 1210 printer (X computer). My daughter got a second ACER laptop with Windows XP (computer Y) and I used the floppy disk created by the network configuration wizard to get connected to the network, everything worked OK. My wife is the mini netbook HP under Windows7 starter edition (Comuter Z) and I used the same disk to be connected, and I made sure that the Working Group has been installed as (MSHOME). Lenovo Thinkpad (computer X) appears on the list of network devices (computer X, Y and Z) but when I started to ADD a new printer, after selecting (computer X) a message box pops up saying ("Windows cannot access (computer X), you do not have permissions to access (X computer).") Contact your administrator to request network access). How can I do this?

Home network problem cannot access one of that PC even if should be able
I ran into a problem... I have a PC running Windows Vista and Windows 7 PC on my network home. I can 'see' each from the other PC PC when I go on the network. The Windows Vista-based computer can access shared folders on the Windows 7 PC... and the Windows Vista computer can share items specially for windows 7 PC SHOULD have access to these folders. I placed the user for the Windows 7 PC as co-owner. HOWEVER, when I go to the network on the Windows 7 option, I select the Vista PC in the network thinking it should then show me the file and instead, troubleshooting network appears.
When I go to the troubleshooter, it says that it can't find the Vista machine... even if it it displays network before I tried to access it.
They are both in the same workgroup. I checked the machine windows 7 has permission for the folder in question indeed. and I've checked that the machine of windows Vista CAN access folders on the windows machine 7...
No idea what I'm missing?
Thank you!
Hi Jim,
1. did you change any software on the computer?
2. where you can access files on Windows Vista earlier?
Method 1:
Please click on this link to find how to share files and specific folders with someone,
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/share-files-with-someone
Method 2:
Disable the antivirus/firewall softwareand check if it helps.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software.
Warning: If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 3:
Turn off sharing protected by password:
Password sharing is enabled by default for computers of working groups. When password sharing is enabled, people using other computers on your network cannot access your shared folders or printers unless they have a user account on your computer. There are two ways to enable file or printer sharing:
o identical user accounts create on all computers in the workgroup (recommended). For more information, see create a user account.
o turn off password protected sharing. To turn off password protected sharing, follow these steps:
a. open the network and sharing Center by clicking the Start button on the Control Panel, click Network and Internet, and then click Network and sharing Center.
b. under sharing and discovery, click the arrow next to password protected sharing.
c. click turn off password protected sharing, and then click apply. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Please, try the following steps and check.
I hope it works!

Home network works great, remote desktop will not connect.
I have a Windows 7 laptop and a Vista laptop. They are connected to a secure wireless network. Both work very well as standalones. When I try to connect via Remote Desktop or connect with each other. My 7 is in a homegroup with a single name. My Vista is in a WORKING group with the same name. I can't connect either using remote desktop. Computer for both names are names of a single word, 'XXXXXX', not the format xxx.xxxxx.xxxx and I can't figure another way to their name. I spent 2 days serching various tech forums and tried what they suggested.
Hello
Homegroup is a unique feature of Win 7. It uses IPv6.
As you connect to Vista you must configure Windows 7 to the home network.
------------------------------------
Network Win 7 with another version of Windows as a work network (works very well if all computers are Win 7 also).
In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.
Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.
For the best newspaper of the results of each computer screen system and together all computers on a network of the same name, while each computer has its own unique name.

------------------
Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructionsGeneral example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

Cannot access shared folders on the home network.
Until a few days ago, I had a successful network operation consisting of two Vista Home premium computers and two XP Home. I have not had problems with opening files or folders before, but now I find I can access shared files and folders on the computer units XP vista, but cannot open the computers XP Vista of the units of the. I get the following message:
\\user-D5139A8DF2\desktop on IBM is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
Not enough server storage is available to process this command.
I checked the registry as suggested, computers are all on a home network with the same workgroup name. One solution I found in the forums has to do with my anti-virus Norton N360, but as all my computers are using the same version of that I'm uncertain or not to change the settings. It's very frustrating. Can anyone offer a solution or suggestion, please?
Hello
It might be Norton.
If not for "insufficient server memory is available to process this command."

Remote access under Vista Home Premium computer
All the instructions I've seen for remote access to my computer layout calls for a different Version of Windows. I find it a bit of a rip off. At the time where the user had a little more control of his machine, if he had the guts to try, you could always find a workaround or solution to another way to accomplish the task.
I wonder: is there a fix for this problem?
I am taking my current office in the Brazil and by setting up there. I wish I can access it from the United States and the thought that I could put in place so I could do. But I don't want to upgrade to another version of windows on it. I'll try to access using a laptop running Windows 7. can someone help me with this problem?
Thank you very much for your answers.
It is a Forum of Vista. To Windows7 questions, you need to republish your question in the Forums Widows7: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windows7 where someone who specializes in issues of Windows7 and procedures will be more than happy to help you with your problem. It is possible that your computer in the States works under Vista, but the computer controlling the process is the initiating access and that is why you need to post on the forums of Windows7 (although you will certainly also have to make some changes to your computer in the States to allow remote access works correctly).
In the meantime, here is an article that applies to both Vista and Windows7 that could help with the basics: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/turn-on-remote-desktop-in-windows-vista/. I do not know thay will tell you more and better in the other forum. BTW, I have no idea if Windows7 supports remote access or remote with antyihing desktop - other than the Windows operating system, but you can ask in the other forum. I suggest to use the network, Email and online Forum here because it is above all a network problem.
Good luck!
