JOE
Joe,
Let the copy/paste your questions and comments online:
(1) heterogeneous services of oracle and Oracle Gateway even or not? Need to license or not?
Let me first clarify one thing, heterogeneous services is the generic mechanism in the database Oracle used by all gateways. The product you are talking about is database for ODBC bridge or the bridge of Sybase database.
Database for ODBC bridge is available for Linux and Windows. It is the free product that does not require a license of Oracle. The license is included in your license data. It's a generic gateway which allows you to connect with any suitable part 3 ODBC driver to a corresponding foreign database. As this is a generic connectivity what words connect to real data, but also to MS Excel or text files as long as you have an appropriate ODBC, capacity driver is very limited.
More powerful bridge is the bridge of Sybase database. It covers the same functionality as DG4ODBC but it also allows you to work with distributed transactions, you can call procedures stored remote Sybase etc.. This gateway is design for Sybase ASE connections, so it is also able to map some Oracle Sybase equivalent functions. This gateway for Sybase database is NOT free, it requires an additional license.
(2) want to creating link database to Oracle 11 g to Sybase 15.5 heterogeneous Oracle using the SERVICES what drivers should I install to my pc (windows 7) and my server (Linux red hat 5)? Please give me the link for this
It depends on your preferences. Two entry doors are available for Linux and Windows. When you use DG4ODBC, you must only be careful that you get a suitable 3rd party ODBC driver for this platform with the size of the corresponding word (64 bits for 64-bit DG4ODBC and 32-bit ODBC driver for DG4ODBC installations on 32-bit platforms).
The latest version of the software is currently 11.2.0.3 and it can be downloaded (and installed from scratch) of "My Oracle Support". Simply open the patches & updates section, look for Patch 10404530: 11.2.0.3.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER and make sure you choose the platform you want to use. Then check out the readme file it lists, which of these download CD contains the gateway software.
BTW, the CD contains DG4ODBC and DG4SYBS and it is up to you to decide during installation of which product you want to use.
(3) is there a step by step link to configure odbc to create dblink?
Installation of the ODBC driver is different from one provider to another, and from platform to platform - so we didn't not a note specifies how to configure the ODBC driver. This kind of question is best managed by the provider of the ODBC driver.
Regarding the implementation of DG4ODBC on Windows, you will find the appropriate information in the knowledge base on My Oracle Support. Just look:
How to set up DG4ODBC (gateway for ODBC Oracle database) on 32-bit Windows to connect to Oracle databases Post Install [466225.1 Document]
and to DG4SYBS:
How to set up DG4SYBS (Oracle to Sybase database entry door) on 64-bit Unix (AIX, HP - UX Itanium, Linux and Solaris) Post Install [437696.1 Document]
How the installer DG4SYBS (bridge of Sybase database) on a 64-bit Windows [Document 1319852.1]
(4) what's more convenient connection of heterogeneous Oracle or Oracle Gateway Services sybase?
It really depends on your needs. DG4SYBS is sullen more easy to install because this gateway comes with everything you need and you don't have to find an appropriate ODBC driver or get the working ODBC driver. It is also more powerful as you can for example use triggers that replicate changes to data in an Oracle database on the Sybase database in the same transaction. When you want to call Sybase stored procedures, you can also do this with DG4SYBS. So it really depends on your needs.

heterogeneous services 10gr 2 Questions
Hello
We intend to establish a connection to dblink between oracle and sybase, and we want to access data which is lies in sybase
So I have a few questions about the heterogeneous services of oracle for oracle 10 g 2:
1. is Oracle Transparent Gateways for free?
2. where can I download Oracle transparent gateways?
3. where can I find the documentation?
THXHi Hendra,
There are 2 options to connect to Sybase to Oracle 10.2-1. 11 g database for ODBC (Dg4ODBC) gateway - this is included in your RDBMS license, but you must provide the third-party ODBC driver to establish the connection.
2. 11 g database for Sybase (Dg4Sybs) gateway - this requires a separate license and is not free but has more features than DG4ODBC.
You must use version 11g gateways 10.2 versions were desupported for quite awhile. All 11g gateways are certified with RDBMS 10.2.0.4 and above and must be installed in a separate ORACLE_HOME of the 10.2 existing install.
The following notes available in My Oracle Support discuss the differences-
Note.233876.1 Connection Options abroad of banks of data and databases non-Oracle
Note.252364.1 the functional differences between generic connectivity and database gateways
Note.232482.1 bridge and generic connectivity, licensingand the following note has information and links for install and configuration and utility information, documentation and how to download.

Oracle Gateway with WE8ISO8859P15 SqlServer Unicode
HelloW,
Our database is configured in the character WE8ISO8859P15. We have installation-ed program a gateway to a ms sqlserver.
If I create a query of tables having a column varchar2 (4000). I receive a connection to the oracle gateway error.
This is because SQL Server is configured to Unicode. So to my question:
Is it possible to change the init file to add a parameter taking Western Europe all of the unicode characters and converts them to WE8ISO8859P15.
I know that we cannot take all the unicode characters. Actually, it isn't a limit of our database sqlserver configuration.
Unfortunately If we want to do it now, we owe it to the trunk of the varchar2 (4000) in 2000. I think that there is more chance that things go wrong, then just choosing the characters WE8ISO8859P15.
Another solution would be to convert our entire database to unicode.
This is not allowed by the business I'm afraid...
Thanks and greetings
Nico
Sorry to insist here, but are you be sure that the source is a column of nvarchar2 (4000)?
If the answer is Yes - the cause is very simple...
Maximum precision of Oracle nvarchar2 is 2000:
SQL > create table xxx (col1 nvarchar2 (4000));
create table xxx (col1 nvarchar2 (4000))
*
ERROR on line 1:
ORA-00910: specified length too long for its data type
When you now want to map a nvarchar (4000), then your database Oracle needs a set of Unicode characters. Only when the Oracle database uses a set of Unicode characters, the gateway is able to map it to a data type long Oracle.
In all other cases, you will be able to select from that particular column. This restriction is also documented in books by looking at the data type mapping section.
A way around this limitation is to create in your database source, a view that throws the varchar nvarchar column (if possible) or to create a view on the side of source database that separates the content of that particular column into 2 separate columns (substring).

Native web services in Oracle 11 g
Y at - there no official explanation on how to configure and create native web services to Oracle 11 g and how to properly secure these services? Since Oracle APEX now supports web services use SOAP and REST, it makes sense to have more explanation on creating and securing web services. As know many PL/SQL programmers, it isn't always an easy task to develop web services in jDeveloper to work with databases - with all of these technologies to Add on as jPublisher/Toplink to get the job of things. It is not easy to get the 'How to' guide on creating and securing of the native web services in Oracle 11 g.
Thank you.

Hi all
We have cases of BSE R12.1.3, now we need to create a database connection for transmitting data between sql server and oracle.
We talked about 'Master for Oracle Gateway [ID 1083703.1] products Note'.
Gateway mentioned document for sql server is "Microsoft SQL * Server - door of entry of database SQL * Server (DG4Msql).
for Terradata "Teradata - gateway to Teradata (DG4Teradata) database".
What gateways are free ware or should purchased the license from oracle.
Thanks in advance

Dear friends,
I installed Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 - Production 64-bit. I have installed Oracle Gateway 11 in another House. Now,.
I need to set my Oracle_Home variable to the location of the 11 g to get the job of the oracle.
Is this good?
I did it on a test server and I need to apply it on a production server.
Now, I have an additional House and the listener... I'm confused...
Please guide me.
Thanks in advance.
Note: I have posted this in general Forum but did not see anyone you meet. So, make a copy of it here.Yes, the path parameter is the point. Have a look at "echo %PATH%" - it lists 11g software in front of 10 g.
After that 11.2 software installation program YES added the setting of path before the current path setting - so all the COMMAND LINE tools will use the path 11.2 setting.
You can change the PATH environment variable so that 10.2.0.4 parameters before once again, or you must first go to the ORACLE_HOME\bin directory before calling the executableIn addition:
So, should the Oracle 11g gateway has its listener running?
-online gateway is 11.2 so you use earphone 11.2. Connect to the database using the SID and without specifying an alias TNS connect through the listener at all. It's a way of inter process communication.
So yes, keep the listener 11.2 running.Should I leave the environment variable Oracle Home pointing to D:\product\11.2.0\tg_1? Well, it depends of your (or DBA) freshness. Imagine your production database becomes a problem and that you are stressed out. Always keep in mind the ORACLE_HOME and path is set correctly? So yes, you can keep the current setting.
But when you get nervous in these situations - simplify your life and set the ORACLE_HOME in your production environment and change the PATH parameter so that 11G Bridge Home is mentioned in the variable PATH AFTER the House of 10g. -

Adding a Service of Oracle Application to a BPEL process in JDeveloper
Hi all
I would like to use an API to connect to Oracle E - Business as a result created a new employee of my BPEL process. I added a Service of Oracle Application to my BPEL and selected the API CREATE_EMPLOYEE found under human resources Suite (HR_PF) > human resources (PER) > employee (PER_EMPLOYEE) > PLSQL > employee (HR_EMPLOYEE_API) > create employee (CREATE_EMPLOYEE) in the Oracle Application Module Brower.
When I click on finish in the Adapter Configuration Wizard I get the following error, "error writing to wsdl file. Exception: the wrapper procedure, HR_EMPLOYEE_API$ CREATE_EMPLOY, was not found in the package, XX_BPEL_ORACLEEBS_HIRE, to the scheme, APPS. »
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is this error? I was able to successfully create an Oracle Application Service to a different API's but I can't get it to work... I use JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0.
Thank you kindly,
ChristineOK, I didn't have an upgrade by her. If you're on 10.1.3.1 then your first point of call should downgrade you JDev 10.1.3.1 and try again. I think you still have a problem with that because it is an older version and has a number of questions regarding the bus adapter and adapter DB.
If you're on 10.1.3.3 I don't think that you need to update, but you must apply the latest patch MLR. Again 10.1.3.3 is another version and has a number of good patch bugs that are generally available in 10.1.3.4. Apply the fix MLR is the least intrusive.
It said that if you didn't go to the production and you're sitting in a POC stage, I recommend upgrading to 10.1.3.4 because it has some interesting features that did not exist in 10.1.3.4 and it's release that implement MLR patch for now.
Hope that makes sense.
see you soon

Configuration of the Oracle Gateway in another server...

I would like to create dblinks (in a 64-bit environment) to access 32-bit SQL Server.
Instead of installing Oracle Gateway once again, I would be able to just make use of the entry door only?
This is the thread that I was getting advice on how to:

Create the heterogeneous Services initialization file
Hello, I am new to oracle as I am a student. I installed Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 Enterprise Edition.
I want to use a Microsoft Excel file in a source file. In the Help Center it says I have to create the heterogeneous Services initialization file in a specific directory by using these commands: HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = odbc_excel
HS_AUTOREGISTER = TRUE
HS_DB_NAME = dg4odbc
My question is where should I run these commands?
If I have to do in SQL Plus, how for the specific path? When sqlplus open just writing SQL > and I don't know how I can go down the path that I want to so I can run the commands.
I can go through the command prompt, but of course, it does not recognize these commands.
Any answer would be instructive. Thank you.http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/OWB.112/e10582/loading_ms_data.htm
You don't need to run the Sql command * more
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = odbc_excel
HS_AUTOREGISTER = TRUE
HS_DB_NAME = dg4odbcYou must create the initexcelsid.ora file in the OWB_HOME\hs\admin directory with the list above

Privillage DBA for the user of the AQ and message Gateway users
Hello
We have this user who has the queues waiting for the Oracle and also 3 more users for Oracle Gateway of Message.
Please can someone explain why they need the privillage DBA? What will happen if revoke us the ADMINISTRATOR of them?
Thanks in advance!
Hello
in principle, you need the following DB diagrams:
(1) MGW_ADMIN + MGW_AGENT (for Oracle Message Gateway)
(2) the user of application (for Oracle AQs) schema
All necessary admin tasks about the gateway messages will be made using the first two schemes.
The grants will be be defined according to standard install MGW scripts. Here no DBA privileges will be granted.
Regarding your application schema user without DBA privileges are required to create and modify the AQs.
For such a scheme, the following basic subsidies are necessary:
GRANT EXECUTE ON dbms_aqadm to
; GRANT EXECUTE ON dbms_aq to
; GRANT AQ_ADMINISTRATOR_ROLE to
; > What will happen if revoke us the ADMINISTRATOR of them?
In general, don't happen if you revoke the role DBA to a 'normal' QA owner
