Transparent Oracle Gateway for ODBC error on SELECT Sybase Anywhere 11

Environment:
------------------
O / s: CentOS 6.2 (64-bit)
Oracle DB: Oracle XE 11.2.0.2.0 (64-bit)
Sybase DB: Sybase Anywhere 11 (64-bit)
Driver ODBC: unixODBC 2.3.1 (64-bit)
ODBC drivers: Sybase Anywhere Client ODBC (64-bit)
Oracle ODBC Gateway: 11.2.0.1.0 (64-bit)
NOTE: The two databases are local.
Changing init.ora in listener.ora gateway home directory and put to update the (and use) and tnsnames.ora Oracle XE directory.
Listener and tnsping started / worked successfully.

Hello
Could you add the following to theinit .ora leading bridge -

HS_LANGUAGE = AMERICAN_AMERICA. WE8ISO8859P1
HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2

and try a select a new SQLPLUS session.
If you still have problems then post the following files-

-Gateway listener.ora
-Gateway initSybASA.ora

Kind regards
Mike

The directory must be different from your durectory u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe xe. Use a meaningful name like /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/gtw - just a different subtree is sufficient.

The ODBC gateway is called gateway for ODBC database and it is available for several Unix platforms.

Take a look at the certification matrix, which can be found here:

  • installation of gateway for ODBC for Oracle 11 g database

    I installed Oracle 11 GR 2 CARS DB on Linux 5 (64-bit).

Now I need to install the gateway (DG) of the database for ODBC. (to install between Oracle and MySQL DB)
When I start the program YES and go to the option of the product must be installed (on the YES tool), there is no option for the ODBC must be installed.

I have a version without a license of business software Oracle 11 GR 2 (which I downloaded Oracle's Web site).

So is the software DGODBC available only in the licensed version?
Once again, if DG for ODBC is already installed on the server, is there any command to check?

    Help, please!

    Hello
AFAIK, the gateway can be downloaded free in the form of your db, if your goal is private learning
If your bridge installed correctly, so, you need to connect to your mysql via dblink
Auditor of the gateway must upward. There you can check the status of your gateway.

  • Could some expert if you please help me to configure Oracle Gateway for DRDA.

    Hi Experts,

Could you please give me the steps or delete the document to install and configure the oracle for DRDA gateway. I need to put up with the db2 database.

    Platform: AIX
    Database version: 11.2.0.3

I'd really appreciate it if experts will extend their assistance in this regard.

    Thank you

    Hello
    To answer your questions-

    1. I already have a listener running on my oracle database, which is under home(/u01/app/asm/product/11.2.0.3/grid/network/admin) GI.

-You must create a new listening port for the gateway in the directory $GATEWAY_ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
-for your configuration, this looks like it should be-
    /U01/app/Oracle/product/11.2.0.3/dt02/network/admin
-start the receiver of the gateway by using the executable in /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/dt02/bin lsnrctl

    2. I read the Document Oracle, which has been mentioned by the experts above, however got little confused where to run scripts to create the Tables and the data dictionary support Beta project views...
-you need run the scripts in the database non-Oracle to which you are connecting.
So, if it's DB2 on zOS, then run "zos" scripts DB2 itself, if it is DB2 on Linux, Unix or Windows, then run "luw" scripts in DB2.

    3. is there anything that either I should suggest for DB2 guys to go he ends to make it effective.
-Make sure that they granted the necessary authorizations for such users as specified in the documentation, in particular the user that links the gateway packages.

    Kind regards
    Mike

    The gateway of the trace that shows "12 VARCHAR N 3270 3270 0 / 0 0 0 200 DISCPLN_COMM" I expect the column is mapped to a varchar2 Oracle that accuracy does not exceed the limit of varchar2 (4000).
But there could be a risk that the database Oracle uses Unicode HOCXU_DB_CSET = 873 that could result in a tripling of the varchar columns because some Unicode characters require 3 bytes. When this product then the column discpln_comm is mapped to a data type long Oracle and there are dozens of restrictions when it comes well of data types.

    A previous update, you said:
I noticed in my PL/SQL Developer IDE that this 1 column returned as a LONG. (?)
This means that a tripling of the precision could happen.

Could you please add these 2 parameters to the file init Bridge:
    HS_KEEP_REMOTE_COLUMN_SIZE = ALL
    HS_NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS = CHAR

Now open a new SQL * Plus term and describe the table in SQL * more (desc RSCCC.SR_SPEC_PGM_SPEC_ED @) and to report to its release. Is the column that discpln_comm is always mapped to a long column?

If so, then change the parameters of 2 gateway for:
    HS_KEEP_REMOTE_COLUMN_SIZE = LOCAL
    HS_NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS = CHAR
Open a new SQL again * more session and describe the table again. DISCPLN_COMM is always mapped to a long?

    Hello
Thanks for the information. 2.2 UnixODBC driver manager is quite old and there is now one more late 2.3.1 version available here.

    http://www.unixODBC.org/

by clicking on the tab "Download".
Can you download and install this version then use in the configuration instead of the 2.2 version?

    Kind regards
    Mike

  • Help with the Universal Installer - installation of database for ODBC gateway

    Hi experts,

I'm trying to install the database to ODBC bridge according to http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/gateways.111/b31043/installodbc.htm#BHCCCJJJ

My problem is that the installation program seems trying to install another data base oracle from scratch and I don't get the options above documentation suggests.

This is a Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition 11.1.0.7.0 server is a production system, so I can't screw it up :-)

I'm probably doing something stupid - I'm a developer and not really a DBA.

Thanks for your suggestions that you could help me with.

    Best regards
    Pete

PS. instead of getting 'Specify Home Details' after the Welcome screen I get "set Source location."

Are you sure that you downloaded the correct software? From the download page:

    Oracle Database gateways 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.0)
    for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)
    win32_11gR1_gateways.zip (479,045,812 bytes)

But - there should be no need to install DG4ODBC, he is already part of the installation of the database server. At least this is the case for Enterprise Edition, I'm not sure about Standard Edition. In a simply command window issue
"dg4odbc", if you see something like the following, you already have the ODBC gateway:

    Oracle Corporation - Tuesday 20 April 2010 21:59:20.000

11.2.0.1.0 - Production built with heterogeneous Agent release

    (3) is there a step by step link to configure odbc to create dblink?
    (4) what's more convenient connection of heterogeneous Oracle or Oracle Gateway Services sybase?

Thank you very much for your help

    Concerning

    JOE

    Joe,
Let the copy/paste your questions and comments online:

    (1) heterogeneous services of oracle and Oracle Gateway even or not? Need to license or not?
Let me first clarify one thing, heterogeneous services is the generic mechanism in the database Oracle used by all gateways. The product you are talking about is database for ODBC bridge or the bridge of Sybase database.
Database for ODBC bridge is available for Linux and Windows. It is the free product that does not require a license of Oracle. The license is included in your license data. It's a generic gateway which allows you to connect with any suitable part 3 ODBC driver to a corresponding foreign database. As this is a generic connectivity what words connect to real data, but also to MS Excel or text files as long as you have an appropriate ODBC, capacity driver is very limited.
More powerful bridge is the bridge of Sybase database. It covers the same functionality as DG4ODBC but it also allows you to work with distributed transactions, you can call procedures stored remote Sybase etc.. This gateway is design for Sybase ASE connections, so it is also able to map some Oracle Sybase equivalent functions. This gateway for Sybase database is NOT free, it requires an additional license.

    (2) want to creating link database to Oracle 11 g to Sybase 15.5 heterogeneous Oracle using the SERVICES what drivers should I install to my pc (windows 7) and my server (Linux red hat 5)? Please give me the link for this
It depends on your preferences. Two entry doors are available for Linux and Windows. When you use DG4ODBC, you must only be careful that you get a suitable 3rd party ODBC driver for this platform with the size of the corresponding word (64 bits for 64-bit DG4ODBC and 32-bit ODBC driver for DG4ODBC installations on 32-bit platforms).
The latest version of the software is currently 11.2.0.3 and it can be downloaded (and installed from scratch) of "My Oracle Support". Simply open the patches & updates section, look for Patch 10404530: 11.2.0.3.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER and make sure you choose the platform you want to use. Then check out the readme file it lists, which of these download CD contains the gateway software.
BTW, the CD contains DG4ODBC and DG4SYBS and it is up to you to decide during installation of which product you want to use.

    (3) is there a step by step link to configure odbc to create dblink?
Installation of the ODBC driver is different from one provider to another, and from platform to platform - so we didn't not a note specifies how to configure the ODBC driver. This kind of question is best managed by the provider of the ODBC driver.
Regarding the implementation of DG4ODBC on Windows, you will find the appropriate information in the knowledge base on My Oracle Support. Just look:
How to set up DG4ODBC (gateway for ODBC Oracle database) on 32-bit Windows to connect to Oracle databases Post Install [466225.1 Document]

    and to DG4SYBS:
How to set up DG4SYBS (Oracle to Sybase database entry door) on 64-bit Unix (AIX, HP - UX Itanium, Linux and Solaris) Post Install [437696.1 Document]
How the installer DG4SYBS (bridge of Sybase database) on a 64-bit Windows [Document 1319852.1]

    (4) what's more convenient connection of heterogeneous Oracle or Oracle Gateway Services sybase?
It really depends on your needs. DG4SYBS is sullen more easy to install because this gateway comes with everything you need and you don't have to find an appropriate ODBC driver or get the working ODBC driver. It is also more powerful as you can for example use triggers that replicate changes to data in an Oracle database on the Sybase database in the same transaction. When you want to call Sybase stored procedures, you can also do this with DG4SYBS. So it really depends on your needs.

    Can someone help me?

Looks like you have several driver ODBC managers installed on the computer and the gateway is accidentally loading first the driver manager unixODBC instead of his own driver manager.

Change your listener and add LD_LIBRARY_PATH as described in Metalink note:

    (PROGRAM = dg4sybs)

LD_LIBRARY_PATH should include $ORACLE_HOME/dg4sybs/pilot/lib and $ORACLE_HOME/lib. Please replace $ORACLE_HOME by the absolute path.

'group' is one word reserved in ASE and most other DBMS. You can probably escape, but it is best to never use the reserved words in tables/columns.

  • Gateway 12 c for ODBC or SQL Server dates

    Hello

I'm having a problem with the dates when selecting a database of SQL Server 2008 R2 via OGW 12 c.

The two dg4odbc and dg4msql returns data all in Oracle Gateway 11 g R2 works fine! on the same machines with the same configurations.

    Oracle database version is 10.2.0.4 x 64 on windows 2008 r2

    Thank you.

Gateway Windows seems to behave here a little different from the Linux gateway, but I am sure that now you've hit these two related defects 17434002 /17434137.

ONL Linux normally, you get the error ORA-28528 rather bad content of the message. Windows seems to behave here a little different. But the track and also out of desc as well as the error message when switch to TANK indicate you touch the same question.

Unfortunately it is currently not yet a fix available. Better would be to file a service request and please ask to get assigned to me (kgronau). I will then connect to the bugs and I can then inform you once the problem is resolved.

  • Oracle Gateway with WE8ISO8859P15 SqlServer Unicode

    HelloW,

Our database is configured in the character WE8ISO8859P15. We have installation-ed program a gateway to a ms sqlserver.

If I create a query of tables having a column varchar2 (4000). I receive a connection to the oracle gateway error.

This is because SQL Server is configured to Unicode. So to my question:

Is it possible to change the init file to add a parameter taking Western Europe all of the unicode characters and converts them to WE8ISO8859P15.

I know that we cannot take all the unicode characters. Actually, it isn't a limit of our database sqlserver configuration.

Unfortunately If we want to do it now, we owe it to the trunk of the varchar2 (4000) in 2000. I think that there is more chance that things go wrong, then just choosing the characters WE8ISO8859P15.

Another solution would be to convert our entire database to unicode.

This is not allowed by the business I'm afraid...

    Thanks and greetings

    Nico

Sorry to insist here, but are you be sure that the source is a column of nvarchar2 (4000)?

If the answer is Yes - the cause is very simple...

Maximum precision of Oracle nvarchar2 is 2000:

    SQL > create table xxx (col1 nvarchar2 (4000));

    create table xxx (col1 nvarchar2 (4000))

    *

    ERROR on line 1:

ORA-00910: specified length too long for its data type

When you now want to map a nvarchar (4000), then your database Oracle needs a set of Unicode characters. Only when the Oracle database uses a set of Unicode characters, the gateway is able to map it to a data type long Oracle.

In all other cases, you will be able to select from that particular column. This restriction is also documented in books by looking at the data type mapping section.

A way around this limitation is to create in your database source, a view that throws the varchar nvarchar column (if possible) or to create a view on the side of source database that separates the content of that particular column into 2 separate columns (substring).

  • Cannot get 12.4SE to use the encrypted password for ODBC

    Hello

We run gendata/genprint on the Linux platform and move from 11.5 to 12.4SE. The MRL is in a database of DB2 installed on MVS (and connect via ODBC). We installed the 12.4SE on the server, the engines and copied the entire folder structure, including our ISP * files, our installation of 11.5 - didn't change at all. If I run the motors with an unencrypted password, it works fine. The problem I'm running is when I run with a password encrypted in the ODBC DBHandler (that is what we have in our configuration 11.5), I get a lot of mistakes (the first letter is actually absent from these messages, I'm not myself truncating):

Error in main(): unable to RunGenData(). See the errors file for more messages.

Warning in RPDefDisplayProc(): display user procedure has not been defined.

When I look to the top of DM15066, I see:

    Explanation
The call to LBYInitializeLoaders failed in function (GenTrn.c, GenData.c or GenPrint/PrintEnv.c). The usual reason that LBYInitializeLoaders do not is that the library is stored in a DBMS (DB2, Oracle or SQL Server) and the DBMS or database in the DBMS is not accessible.

    Programmer's response
Check that the DBMS or database in the DBMS used by the MRL is running. If this isn't the case, please re - initialize the DBMS or database in the DBMS.

Anyone has an idea why my installation 12.4SE dislikes the encrypted passwords?

    Thank you

    Gregg

I hope that I am not striking myself, but I think I have it working now. I started a support ticket about not being not able to get the cryrun utility to work on Linux, and when I hit the stage 2 ("solutions"), one of the proposed solutions talked about this specific question. He explained that specifying a folder deflib allow the utility Cryruw32.exe to place a file 'Omar', and that you then this odek file in your deflib when you try to run the documaker engine. I read the release notes, pointing to the "reference help utilities" for more information, but there is NOTHING in this guide for the Cryrun utility which mentions the file "odek".

Anywho, I made a generic file deflib, run the utility, FTP'd the file down to the deflib of my application on the Linux server, copied the encrypted password new/different in fsiuser.ini, and voila, it ran!

For those interested, it was Doc ID 2006951.1

    Thanks for your help.

  • Installation of Oracle DB Providers scripts errors

After installing Oracle XE DB and ODP.NET, I tried to run included scripts to establish tables suppliers .NET. When I try to run InstallOracleMembership.sql for example, the operation fails with errors as follows:

    IF (ora_aspnet_TableExists ('ORA_ASPNET_MEMBERSHIP') = 0) THEN
    *
    ERROR on line 2:
    ORA-06550: line 2, column 11:
PLS-00201: identifier 'ORA_ASPNET_TABLEEXISTS' must be declared.
    ORA-06550: line 2, column 6:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored

Just then a few warnings-> WARNING: function created with compilation errors. And more errors:

GRANT SELECT ON ora_vw_aspnet_Applications TO ora_aspnet_Mem_ReportAccess
    *
    ERROR on line 1:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

    GRANT ora_aspnet_Mem_BasicAccess TO ora_aspnet_Mem_FullAccess
    *
    ERROR on line 1:
ORA-01917: user or role 'ORA_ASPNET_MEM_FULLACCESS' does not exist

To this end, I created the user and it added privileges like create role, view, table according to this tutorial [tutorial Oracle | http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28844/installation.htm#BABDEHAJ]
    I use ODAC 11.2 Release 4 (11.2.0.3.0) 32-bit, Oracle 11 g R2 XE DB, professional Win7 64 bit and VS2010.

    I followed Oracle tutorial.
    My steps were therefore:
    1. new Oracle XE 11 g R2 DB Installation (32-bit)
2 ODAC Installation (32-bit) with ODT and instant Client
    3. I created the ASPNET_DB_USER user and granted privileges
    4. via Studio VS 2010 and run SQL * more script, I ran InstallAllOracleASPNETProviders.sql but the installation failed with above errors
Everything works on the same computer.

Am I missing something? What I am doing wrong? Thanks for help.

These scripts are for ASP.NET and not ODP.NET.
You must run InstallOracleASPNETCommon.sql before InstallOracleMembership.sql.
But first, make sure the database user (you use to run these scripts) required privileges, such as:

    create the role
    create view
    create jobs
    create public synonym
    Drop public synonym
    change notification
