heterogeneous services 10gr 2 Questions

Hello
We intend to establish a connection to dblink between oracle and sybase, and we want to access data which is lies in sybase
So I have a few questions about the heterogeneous services of oracle for oracle 10 g 2:
1. is Oracle Transparent Gateways for free?
2. where can I download Oracle transparent gateways?
3. where can I find the documentation?

THX

Hi Hendra,
There are 2 options to connect to Sybase to Oracle 10.2-

1. 11 g database for ODBC (Dg4ODBC) gateway - this is included in your RDBMS license, but you must provide the third-party ODBC driver to establish the connection.

2. 11 g database for Sybase (Dg4Sybs) gateway - this requires a separate license and is not free but has more features than DG4ODBC.

You must use version 11g gateways 10.2 versions were desupported for quite awhile. All 11g gateways are certified with RDBMS 10.2.0.4 and above and must be installed in a separate ORACLE_HOME of the 10.2 existing install.

The following notes available in My Oracle Support discuss the differences-

Note.233876.1 Connection Options abroad of banks of data and databases non-Oracle
Note.252364.1 the functional differences between generic connectivity and database gateways
Note.232482.1 bridge and generic connectivity, licensing

and the following note has information and links for install and configuration and utility information, documentation and how to download.

Note to master note.1083703.1 for the Oracle Gateway products

Kind regards
Mike

    Concerning

    JOE

    Joe,
Let the copy/paste your questions and comments online:

    (1) heterogeneous services of oracle and Oracle Gateway even or not? Need to license or not?
Let me first clarify one thing, heterogeneous services is the generic mechanism in the database Oracle used by all gateways. The product you are talking about is database for ODBC bridge or the bridge of Sybase database.
Database for ODBC bridge is available for Linux and Windows. It is the free product that does not require a license of Oracle. The license is included in your license data. It's a generic gateway which allows you to connect with any suitable part 3 ODBC driver to a corresponding foreign database. As this is a generic connectivity what words connect to real data, but also to MS Excel or text files as long as you have an appropriate ODBC, capacity driver is very limited.
More powerful bridge is the bridge of Sybase database. It covers the same functionality as DG4ODBC but it also allows you to work with distributed transactions, you can call procedures stored remote Sybase etc.. This gateway is design for Sybase ASE connections, so it is also able to map some Oracle Sybase equivalent functions. This gateway for Sybase database is NOT free, it requires an additional license.

    (2) want to creating link database to Oracle 11 g to Sybase 15.5 heterogeneous Oracle using the SERVICES what drivers should I install to my pc (windows 7) and my server (Linux red hat 5)? Please give me the link for this
It depends on your preferences. Two entry doors are available for Linux and Windows. When you use DG4ODBC, you must only be careful that you get a suitable 3rd party ODBC driver for this platform with the size of the corresponding word (64 bits for 64-bit DG4ODBC and 32-bit ODBC driver for DG4ODBC installations on 32-bit platforms).
The latest version of the software is currently 11.2.0.3 and it can be downloaded (and installed from scratch) of "My Oracle Support". Simply open the patches & updates section, look for Patch 10404530: 11.2.0.3.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER and make sure you choose the platform you want to use. Then check out the readme file it lists, which of these download CD contains the gateway software.
BTW, the CD contains DG4ODBC and DG4SYBS and it is up to you to decide during installation of which product you want to use.

    (3) is there a step by step link to configure odbc to create dblink?
Installation of the ODBC driver is different from one provider to another, and from platform to platform - so we didn't not a note specifies how to configure the ODBC driver. This kind of question is best managed by the provider of the ODBC driver.
Regarding the implementation of DG4ODBC on Windows, you will find the appropriate information in the knowledge base on My Oracle Support. Just look:
How to set up DG4ODBC (gateway for ODBC Oracle database) on 32-bit Windows to connect to Oracle databases Post Install [466225.1 Document]

    and to DG4SYBS:
How to set up DG4SYBS (Oracle to Sybase database entry door) on 64-bit Unix (AIX, HP - UX Itanium, Linux and Solaris) Post Install [437696.1 Document]
How the installer DG4SYBS (bridge of Sybase database) on a 64-bit Windows [Document 1319852.1]

    (4) what's more convenient connection of heterogeneous Oracle or Oracle Gateway Services sybase?
It really depends on your needs. DG4SYBS is sullen more easy to install because this gateway comes with everything you need and you don't have to find an appropriate ODBC driver or get the working ODBC driver. It is also more powerful as you can for example use triggers that replicate changes to data in an Oracle database on the Sybase database in the same transaction. When you want to call Sybase stored procedures, you can also do this with DG4SYBS. So it really depends on your needs.

  • Create the heterogeneous Services initialization file

Hello, I am new to oracle as I am a student. I installed Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 Enterprise Edition.

I want to use a Microsoft Excel file in a source file. In the Help Center it says I have to create the heterogeneous Services initialization file in a specific directory by using these commands: HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = odbc_excel
    HS_AUTOREGISTER = TRUE
    HS_DB_NAME = dg4odbc

My question is where should I run these commands?

If I have to do in SQL Plus, how for the specific path? When sqlplus open just writing SQL > and I don't know how I can go down the path that I want to so I can run the commands.

I can go through the command prompt, but of course, it does not recognize these commands.

Any answer would be instructive. Thank you.

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/OWB.112/e10582/loading_ms_data.htm

You don't need to run the Sql command * more

    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = odbc_excel
    HS_AUTOREGISTER = TRUE
    HS_DB_NAME = dg4odbc

You must create the initexcelsid.ora file in the OWB_HOME\hs\admin directory with the list above

After the support ticket logging Web conference showed that has been ORA_NLS10. It disable, stop/start the listener has solved the problem.

  • identifier too long on heterogeneous services-> MSSQL

Got a strange problem, a little
We got the heterogeneous services, pointing to a MSSQL Server.

    When I run

    Select * from table_name32charslong@mssql_server

I get: SQL error: ORA-00972: identifier is too long

Logic because the name of the table msserver is over 30 characters.

Can it be solved without renaming the table / side view msserver?

    Thank you

Looks like you will need to rename the table, either create a view against it. ;)

Well, OP has not to rename the table or create a view against it on the side MSSQL. He or she can use DBMS_HS_PASSTHROUGH:

So, to start with the necessary technical information.  I'm having the problem on new systems within one of these configurations:

    Windows 8 improved to 8.1

Windows Pro upgraded to 8.1 8.1

In Control Panel, when I click on 'Manage settings on the Security site family' I pause then the error "sorry, the service is not available.

I can connect (browser) on the family safety website.

    Hi MarKenin,

I am a developer in the parental control team.  I'm sorry that you have had this problem with our product.  I don't want to thank you for providing an impressive amount of detail in your message.

The WMI event, you found is indeed notable--it was our attempt to contact our service to add your machine to the parental control service.  The error code was an HRESULT value of 0x803D0013, which indicates that the web service returned an error.  There is no way to pick which was exactly the mistake, but we do actively monitor and review the errors that occur on our service to identify and solve problems that arise.

We found a question that might have prevented Microsoft specific accounts to set up parental controls on all devices, the period you were trying to bring to the top of your devices.  The problem has been resolved, and we continue to monitor our service as well as these forums to identify new issues.

    Thank you

  • using hotspot as a provider of Internet services to delay questions express airport

I have an Airport Express 2nd generation. I've set up as a home network with no ISP due the fact that I can't get an ISP where I live. I use it for connectivity to all my other apple and mac products, over some generic devices. I go through the implementation of change the settings to ignore the Internet LAN Ethernet, allowing me to have my network. So this is where it gets me confused after a few hours or a device is disconnected. So to continue. Then I take my Netgear wntce2001 streaming single channel device/path/device that I bought. now only available as a wntce2003 dealer local. I go into my menu of the hotspot browser, (Netgear 779 s aircard) and access my WPS in place. The Netgear wntce2001 at this stage only powered with one reset fees, like its new. Push button WPS on my Netgear select wntce2001 WP / parring on my browser and let them connect. At this point the Airport express will amber. Using AirPort Utility I get the double NAT message with options to switch to bridge mode. It all works very well. Now I can use all my Apple products to get on the line and play my generation 4 Apple tv, etc etc. Here's the problem when I remove my Hotspot or it turns off. I'm locked out/unable to join my ISP network wireless access point, that I created.  my book pro Mac will recognize is no longer the Hotspot may not use a web browser to access my hotspot and any other personal devices or belonging to my friends can see or access the HotSpot. Until I drive a half-mile away with her. Or perform a Factory reset fresh out of the box on my Airport express. Even if I remove the hotspot (short drive) then back it's always invisible until I get back from the Airport express. Once I reset the AirPort Express and reset all my other devices. I can rebuild the network and use it as I'm writing this Question (letter). Is anyone know why and how I can solve this problem. In short having a provider. Hotspot demographically impossible only internet access...  Thanks to an old man persisted.

If I were in your situation... the first thing I would do, is check the wireless internet provider, which is an ISP btw... If they can sell you or recommend a router Ethernet instead of a hotspot. An access point has loads of limits and is not very well at all apple hardware.

I confess that reading your description of how make you it work, it does not look good.

I suspect that one of the main issues is the limited number of intellectual property which generally offer wireless ISPS... 5 is the common number.

You are really not on the express of all... the devices are connect to the hotspot... and when something happens, you have exhausted all of the IP addresses.

In any case we can begin to do some tests to prove it.

Please post screenshots of the current configuration of the express with all this work to your satisfaction,

I need the page summary of airport utility. That is to say it.

Click on the button to edit, and then give me the Internet tab, tab wireless and Network tab screenshots.

  • ORA-12154 with 11g and heterogeneous services

    Hello
I have a procedure that bring data from a mysql on a service of HS server.
In 10G has worked very well, but after I migrated to 11g, weird things happen.
If I ran the procedure (or work that calls it) directly from sqlplus, it's fine, but if I schedule a task to run this procedure, he breaks up with: ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
It's like some environmental parameters or the rights are missing when this work is performed automatically.
    So what's changed in 11g?

    Any help is appreciated,
    Thank you

ORA-12154: ALWAYS occurs only on SQL Client & not SQL * Net packets never leave client system
ORA-12154 NEVER involves the listener, the database itself or whatever it is on the DB server.
ORA-12154 occurs when the client wants to connect to a DB Server system by using a connection string.
AMT-03505 is thrown by tnsping & is the same error ORA-12154 thrown by sqlplus or others.
The find operation fails because the supplied name can NOT be resolved at any remote DB.
The analogous operation would be when you wanted to call someone, but did not find their name in any directory.
The most common cause for ORA-12154 error is when the connection alias cannot be found in tnsnames.ora.
The research of the alias operation can have an impact on the content of the sqlnet.ora file. DOMAIN entry specifically.
So after the content of the sqlnet.ora file.

  • AIA 11g - Service FP constructor Question

    Hi all

I am creating the impl provider ABC using the Service constructor. I have defined the component Service of Solution in the Workbench of life cycle of the AIA project as BAERP create purchase order list Ebiz provider ABC. The CreatePurchaseOrderList of the PurchaseOrderEBS method calls on this ABC with a list of purchase orders.

To create the Service constructor, these are the steps that I follow,

1 create the new project-> business level-> AIA-> part of AIA Service project
    2. Description of the Service: select the component of Service of Solution in the life cycle of the AIA project Workbench
    3. Details of the Service: Product Code: Ebiz, Application name: Ebiz, the Application Id: EBIZ_01, short name of the Application: Ebiz, Service operation: create, Type of Service: provider ABC (only the relevant attributes are shown)
    4. purpose of the Service: WSDL: select PurchaseOrderEBSV1.wsdl in EnterpriseBusinessServiceLibrary, operations: CreatePurchaseOrderList
    5. details of the Service target: I select the deployed wsdl of a composite file, which inserts a list of the commands in a data base operations: process
    6. I cliquerai on end - the ABC, but also the BPEL process that is created is CreatePurchaseOrderEbizProvABCSImpl, while I was expecting to be created as CreatePurchaseOrderListEbizProvABCSImpl.

I am missing something here, or should I refer to the ABC as CreatePurchaseOrderEbizProvABCSImpl?

    Kind regards
    Anish.

Are you sure that the ObjectName in step 4 keeps the PurchaseOrderList value? im not talking abt the operation... IM more specific to the message of EBM - name of the object...

Let me know if this helps you.

    Kind regards

  • With the help of Oracle heterogeneous access table to sql server database services

I created a dblink "POC_HS" of oracle to sql (heterogeneous services implemented) and I can't go out data from the default database to which the DSN (for sql server) is connected successfully.

So, this ' select * from ' Test@POC_HS is works perfectly well on the Oracle database as 'Test' table resides in the default database (that the system DSN is connected to).

But when I do ' select * Abc.Test@POC_HS' where the Test table resides in the 'ABC' database which is not the default survey database an error as follows:

ORA-00942: table or view does not exist the name of incorrect [generic object using ODBC Connectivity] [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server driver] [SQL Server] 'Abc.Test '. [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server driver] [SQL Server] Instructions could not be prepared. (SQL State: S0002;) SQL code: 208)

I also tried "select * from Abc.dbo.Test@POC_HS' but oracle throws this exception" ORA-00933: not correctly completed SQL command "."

The dblink and system DSN user account has access to database 'Abc '.

    Thoughts?

    No, this is not possible.

  • Oracle - the question of the integration of MS Access

    Guys,

Yesterday I asked the question of the integration of Oracle and Access, and I got the answer through oracle heterogeneous services, you can connect to ms access to insert/update of the data.

I had another thought on direct vs. indirect integration method.

    1. with the help of XML to send and receive data between oracle and MS. Access.
Have a specified location where oracle will generate xml file and within the specified time interval ms access checks the file and the process
This file. Even reverse access can generate an XML and oracle can process this file with working hours.

    2. using heterogeneous services - seems to be a free service as I could find MS Access driver online

If immediate information is required in the two system then I have no choice but to use heterogeneous services? * *

If information can wait for labor scheduling, I intend to propose the approach 1 (generate/process xml file). If both systems are not really dependent on each other

Everything I need to examine or missing / or one is better than another?

Another approach would be a JDBC connection: load in the BDD Oracle JDBC driver, then opening the link to MS Access using JDBC. The disadvantage of this solution is that you all on your own code.

While a 'real-time' ready-to-use application, DG4ODBC (HSODBC product tracking) is the right choice.

As MS Access can also get data via ODBC, why not link tables Oracle in MS Access and loading of XML content in MS Accesss using a scheduled task, you can trigger then just selects and inserts. For this approach, you just need to have an ODBC Oracle driver installed where your MDB file.

  • Heterogeneous Connectivity environment layout

    Hai everybody,

I am very new to "ORACLE heterogeneous connectivity"...
and this is my senario... I need to connect to oracle with microsoft access (and update of 5 tables more regularly)...
    so...

What are the pre-reqsites needed to make this connectivity...
What are the drivers/softwarz, supposed to install to achieve my goal...

    Datebase:11 g 1
    OS: wisdows XP

and if you can, please give me a better link, from a beginner / give me a brief description...

    Kind regards
    JP@valapad

    Hi JP,
    I'm glad it's working now.
    To answer your questions-

    1. access the column names are case sensitive must delimit them by double quotes in a select statement to access in this case, otherwise they are converted to upper case.
So try to select it as -

    Select 'name' of dep_mst@db_link;

    2. can I update oracle ms access tables?
Yes, DG4ODBC supports updated statements, so it should work for access also. The only restriction is that DG4ODBC cannot be used in distributed transactions, is that you can not update Oracle and Access in the same statement. There must be a validation between the 2 updates.
You can not use the gateway to update access Oracle.

    3 can you in brief/link on hs agents ("PROGRAM = " @listener.ora file (sucha as dg4odbc) "")
Different gateways have a different name for the agent of hs created for the gateway. For example, Database Gateway for SQL * Server uses (program = dg4msql) and DG4Sybase uses (program = dg4sybs).
Hs agent is the software that manages the communication between the Oracle database and non-Oracle database.
HS heterogeneous services which is the RDBMS software layer that manages communications outside the database.

    Kind regards
    Mike
