  Dg4ODBC gateway can be used with the 10.2.0.5 database. It is certified and no additional license is required for the database to ODBC gateway - the license is included in the license database (even when the Oracle database is still version 10.2) AND you can also install Dg4ODBC on another machine, then the Oracle database. There is no need to have Dg4ODBC installed on the same computer as the Oracle database.

  -When you install DG4ODBC on the same machine as your Oracle 10.2 database, then install in its own, separate OH - otherwise you will corrupt your existing installation of the database.

  You should stop all Hyperion services (Shared Services, planning, EE, FR, workspace) who have access to this repository.

  You must perform this update in a non-production environment and have your COMPUTER group to ensure that they can return to the patch or restore the server before patch if it breaks things - be prepared to make a light weight regression test. Having said that the patch is not likely to cause problems - report - the return after you have applied.

• Migrating from a SQL Express 2005 local database to SQL 2008

  I was reading up to the migration of the "shipped" vCetner 4.1 to a database SQL 2008 database external recently and came across these two articles VMWare KB:

  The difference I see with these is that you have just to back up the database, import, reinstall vCenter, while the other has you just stop vCenter, migrate the database and re-create the rollup SQL Agent jobs. What article we should be followed? Both? Just the first one will be?

  Since MSSQL 2005 Express does not have the SQL agent, vCenter Server manages the hourly job.

  Switch to MSSQL 2008 Edition nonExpress would require for you allows you to deploy the necessary jobs.

  I am setting up CF8 and MSSQL 2005 on a laptop that is normally connected to a domain. When I try to connect to a database using MS SQL Driver I get the following error:

  The problem has been resolved if all goes well after having read a lot of blog meets http://carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2006/7/8/sql2k5_Error_establishing_socket

  My problem was that the SQL Config Mgr said SQL was using port TCP 1433, while he was really using another port. And when I would restart SQL, the port would change something else.

  So after many trials a lot, it works... touch wood. I have never had this kind of difficulty to install MSSQL 2 k or even 2005 on several other dev boxes.

  After installing the update of Live software (10.11.2010) Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8117.416) in my computer - and I tried to start Live Gallery, I get the message Photogallery cannot start because lack of MSSQL 2005 COmpact edition.

  As I knew, SQL served also in the previous version. I'm a little afraid to try to install this version, because I already have MSSQL server 2005 installed and used in my accounting program. Install a new version will then often more problems than solve all the problems.

  Microsoft alert on the old LiveSync program, who work for a long time. I used this for a few years, because I have 3 computers that must be synconized with the same information on the accounting data and documents and photos. This Livesync works very well.

  When I installed the new synchronization software, it is also updated my Messenger, the gallery and the mail. But I'm really disappointed... The Messenger is like a huge stone and with a new design and more complicated to see what you're doing. The Gallery is so bad, and the options to display images after the shooting date disappeared. Mail is so heavy and all programs with a HUGE menu of icons all places, with 1000' nds of choice which a normal user does NOT need or want.
   
  The system of mesh must be a better solution after sync Live, but it's so slow and do a lot of bad things in my computer. All my sync folders has been updated with Live Sync, but what a start doing the same thing again, and I had 12000 files update. Soon it started the update, he grabbed 20 GB of my available space in my drive C - from 32 GB to 12 GB, and I was really scared of running out of disk space. After a few our space was getting better, but it stills lost about 10 GB in my hard drive, compared to what I had before installing. The mesh has put a lot of temporary files in users\Appdata\Local\Microsoft'Live Mesh. I start checking all files, files which could be, and after update all the files, it was still about 9 GB left in this folder. My Local low folder is now 292 MB, Local is 4.2 GB and homelessness is 579 MB. But I still wonder where is the last 10 GB which disappear when I install the mesh.
   
  My other computer died in this operation. When I start today, I had a lot of messages on the server mesh was not, and I tried to restart it. But now it's DEAD - I could not power on it. A hard disk will also start default after installation of the mesh, it was a whole new Samsung 1 TB 3.5 inch SATA.
   
  Now my main computer died and I removed all the latest Live Messenger with Essentials on this one, and now it starts acting like a normal computer.
   
  My Gallery is normal again, that my email works normally again. and I decided to stop all kinds of synchronizations from Microsoft. Why if you change a good product that works fine?
   
  I recommend post you pack to download the previous version of Live Messenger and products - and continue to use Live Sync, and people to give a chance to yourself decide how version that should be updated when a new version is available. I had no choice to stop the update for Messenger, Gallery and mail. just a message about this also will be updated. http://explore.live.com/Windows-Live-Essentials?OS=other must be put on hold until the test is preferable. Live Mesh is dangerous - it kills your computer. This is NOT a final product - put in a BETA version and put on a warning.

  Using VM with 4 vCPU (hearts of AMD six 2.6 underlying GHz) 16 GB of RAM (no Exchange, swelling or such), using MSSQL 2005 backend. Currents params tuning in foglight.config are:

  Foglight.VM.option2 = "-XX: + DisableExplicitGC";

  We monitor 5 vCenters, about 2000 virtual machines. This isn't a simple environment, but according to the sizing our VM should suffice. Any suggestions on where to look to track down the problem or additional thoughts tuning?

• Establishment of the database of SSO as part of a simple installation

  Hi all, I am planning my "simple installation" update vCenter 4.1 to 5.1 running on a windows 2008 R2 x 64 machine that will run MSSQL 2005 SP4 32-BIT

  I read in the installation guide in the documentation centre which explains in detail how to configure SSO on the database using the scripts provided with the installation program.  My question is that I'm sure to use these scripts to configure SSO on my MSSQL 2005 database in advance?   That is to say a week in advance, just so that there is less work to come a day upgrade?

  Also, is the SSO OK database to run from my x 32 sp4 instance MSSQL2005?  I know that this database is compatible with vCentre 5.1, but the SSO database is not specifically mentioned.  I guess it is.

  cjscol is correct. The compatibility guide applies to SINGLE sign-on for the same parameters as vCenter Server 5.1.

  You will find the necessary scripts to set up the database on the installation media in the folder of Single Sign On. You have to pay attention, as there are unnecessary scripts in there too.

  You just want to use the setuptablespaces and those setupusers in that order. Do not use the createschema one because it will stop the installation because the installer expects not to find a pattern even on a database prepared.
