• Upgrading to permissions incorrect Mac 2.0.2; Difficulty?

  I just upgraded from VMware Fusion 1.X to version 2.0.2 including upgrading the virtual machines. Suddenly, I get a lot of 'permission denied' errors when I reference files in some of my files shared (i.e. that are on my Mac).

  I traced this to the fact that I use a directory belonged to another Mac user. My Mac login is a member of this user group, and all the files and directories of this user have a group write permission (also the umask 0002 for us two). On Mac, I can read and write these directories very well. But from a client VMware running on Mac like me, it is accessed without honor my secondary group and therefore write permission for the others.

  This used to work properly in VMware Fusion 1.X for Windows Xp, Windows Vista, and Linux clients.

  Is it possible to fix this? Or can I somehow put the group ID of VMware Fusion when it runs?

  As a solution, I gave the write permission world to all files and directories, but that seems risky on this Mac Pro multi-user. All users are work colleagues, but that still leaves the door open to catastrophic errors...

  Since Mac OS X Leopard, the operating system uses ACL. With this, you can add your own account in the directory of the virtual machine and set the correct permissions without messing with any of the other permissions like world. You can do it in the Finder itself in the Info Inspector. Make sure you click on the symbol of the small gear and choose "Apply to included items", it will apply to the ACLs for all files and directories in this directory. Have you tried this already?

  Today, I went from 12 elements of Photoshop and first elements 12 tries at versions purchased in a box that came with two installation disks. One of the drives was of 12 items of Photoshop and elements 12 Windows first and the other of these versions on Mac.

  On the desktop Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit, I was struck with the wrong serial number for Photoshop elements 12 installation I did first. Tried 4 x, double and triple checking for you sure this wasn't 'user error '. It was not the case. The 5th test, purchased serial number was accepted and the installation went to a success.

  Tonight a friend alerted me to similar reports occurs for many users of Photoshop Elements Mac 12. See the link at the top of my post.

  At no time see this problem with the installation of first elements 12 from the same disc with respect to the installation of 12 Photoshop elements.

  Subsequently, I installed these programs with the same installation disc on my laptop 8 64-bit Windows, I have no problems with the installation.

  For now, I don't know if this incorrect serial number is elusive to 12 items in Photoshop or not.

  Here's my dilemma. I recently bought a Dell U2414 as a 2nd monitor to replace my old 2407FWP Dell (has died) with the understanding that the new monitor would work (via a DVI to mini displayport cable). I bought a high quality 3rd party DVI to mini display port cable. Obviously, the monitor does not. I can't get a direct Dell response if this will never work. My hunch is the graphics card can not simply to manage this monitor and it won't work with my system.

  FYI: I also have an old DELL G2210 (resolution: 1680 x 1050 at 60 Hz) on the other DVI port. So I'll still need a DVI port.

  Here are the current video card info:

  1. return the screen and try to find another 24 "that will work with the original map (someone there suggestions for what is currently still deployed that would work with such an old graphics card?)
  2. upgrade the map so it can handle the new monitor but still run the old.

  I chatted with OWC on this subject and they suggested 2 possible upgrade cards but they will not be returned since they could not guarantee that they will work with this monitor there is a risk.

  Dell has been pretty useless (I have no one said yes, the other doesn't).

  Here are some suggestions from OWC (see below). Can someone comment and tell me if or the other will definitely work or offer another solution? I would really appreciate it!

  You are WAY overthinking this. A mini DisplayPort to mini DisplayPort or a Mini DisplayPort to [size] DisplayPort should do all the work for about US$ 10, no conversion.

  No, it does not mean that. It simply means that the method used for location Services is not 100% reliable. One of the reasons would be if there is a lot of traffic WiFi near you.

I see a lot of messages online on this matter on the windows computer (look they can delete the OOBE to fix), but I do not have these same files on mac.
