On Windows XP, I want to copy videos.

On Windows XP, I want to copy videos from a program called HD Writer 1.5 on a DVD disc. It failed because the drive E is a "compressed drive". I can't find an option to unpack this player. On drive C, the "compress to save disk space" option is unchecked. can anyone help please

Hello Ed,

Thank you for keeping us posted.

To unpack the drive, you must use the same application that was used to compress the drive.

Try to remember what application you used to compress the drive so that we can move forward and unpack the same drive.

If the DVD is "not" a commercial copy protected DVD...
the following steps may be worth a try:

When you insert the DVD in your DVD player... close
all the windows that can open and then go to... Start /.
Computer... right click the icon for the DVD player
is located in, and then select Explore or open to view the
    Directory of the DVD.

The files you need from the DVD are the. VOB files.
You will find them in the VIDEO_TS folder. Copy them
in a folder on your hard drive. Or you can copy the
    full VIDEO_TS folder.

First... just try to rename one of the. VOB files to
. MPG or. AVI and see if it will matter in Movie Maker.
If import works... drag the file to the timeline and
Economy/publication it to .wmv or .avi format. Then...
Re - import new video from .wmv to for editing.
(Note: in Windows 7 you may be able to import the)
VOB files in Movie Maker just as they are)

(FWIW... you can probably play the files renamed
in Windows Media Player to be sure that VOB
    file to edit)

If you are unable to import the files they need to be converted
another .wmv format would be a good choice.

There are many programs that can do conversions...

    Format Factory

(the file you want to download is: > FFSetup260.zip<>
    (FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the last screen)

First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
Drag FFSetup260.exe out of the folder
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.

Next, after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
    are converted)

Drag and drop your video clips on the main screen...

Select "all to WMV" / OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

  • In Windows 7 when you try to copy files to an external hard drive, getting the error "are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties?

I know there have been a few posts on this in the past, but I have a slightly different query.

To copy files from my drive NTFS of Windows 7 64 bit for my Western Digital My Book World Edition II 2 GB player manually, not with the WD software provided), for some files, the following message appears.
"Are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties?  The X file has properties that cannot be copied to the new location. »
After investigation, it appears that Western Digital My Book World Edition II is not NTFS format and is, in fact, driven Linux.
Their technical support has confirmed that, despite the message, it is safe to copy files and rely on this backup (I want to backup my drive HARD whole so I can do a clean install - so it's really important!).
Is anyone able to advise exactly what means the message in terms of properties lost?

If you right-click on one of the files in Windows Explorer, then select Properties, you will see the Details tab of the properties he wouldn't if the files have been copied to a drive not NTFS. They are written in an Alternate Data Stream (ADS), and the FAT format readers include ADS.

It depends on the file type of the importance of these properties. If you have spent a lot of time, adding titles and comments and authors and authors e-mail addresses to docprops your Word documents, for example, that the work would be lost.

If you can live with the loss of these properties, go ahead - standard properties will be re-writings in the file when you restore from backup. It's of course time and resources.

To avoid this problem, format your external drive to use the NTFS system.

I have a new laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro windows 7 and there is no manual with it.
I was told I could get all the information I needed online,

However I don't seem to be able to do.
I have a number of photographs, I like to put in a library of photographs on your computer and do not know where to start.

    Can anyone help please.
My last computer had everything already downloaded and I just had to click on what I wanted in the menu.

    Your advice would be welcome.
I should add that I am a retiree and not very computer.

Hello Angie, welcome to our community.

All the user manuals is located and can be downloaded on this page of Toshiba user manual:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_manuals.jsp

If you want to copy your images/photos to laptop, you can save the files where you want. Usually you will always be asked of where you want to save the files.
You can create the new folder for the pictures on the C or D partition, and then you can move all of the files in this folder.

Because you don t have a big computer experience, I recommend this Microsoft HowTo page on Win 7 system:

You do not have to convert vob, DVD Authoring

  • Photo and video of the wizard import and library in Windows 7 "is not" photos and video previously imported from the iPhone

I am trying to import photos/videos from my iphone to my Win 7 PC.  I imported the photos from my iphone a few days ago, but not a not erase them the iPhone when I imported.  Now I want to re - import these pictures and delete them, but I can't.  Apparently, the Win 7 photo/video import wizard (and photo gallery of Win) remembers if you have already imported some photos, and if you have, it doesn't let you "import" them later.  He can't even see them - it just says no: "no new pictures or videos on this device" or similar.  Is there a way to disable the photo how the Import Wizard remember already imported photos, so I can just import all the photos that are on the iphone, regardless if they were imported before?

My biggest problem is that always seems to be no easy way to delete all the photos on an iphone using Win 7, unless you remove them from the iphone as you download them on your PC.  Unfortunately, because I have already downloaded the photos without removing iPhone, the photo Import Wizard is not even 'see' the most and won't let me not re - import (allowing me to erase from the iphone).

A related issue - I think I should be able to browse my iphone through Windows Explorer image files and copy them to my computer, everything as I would by plugging into any camera to my computer.  Win 7 seems to detect the iphone OK device in Windows Explorer, but when I browse the image files they are empty (even though there are hundreds of photos on the iphone).

I've been struggling with this for hours, and it shouldn't be this hard.  I'm a PC user since a long time, but new on Win 7 (I can't find where everything is more) and relatively new to iPhones.  Help?

First, you must use iTunes to * manage * photos and music * on * your iPhone. You
can't do what you want to use anything native to Windows 7. Or with Windows Live
    Phot Gallery.

iTunes is actually pretty intuitive when it comes to synchronization of content.

    > How can I get a copy?
If your laptop was initially shipped with Win7 preinstalled and you want to now order original Toshiba Recovery disk for your laptop that you can do it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
    >... where I can find a product key that I use to activate windows?
You can not find it. I put t understand your question. If you use OS Toshiba you n t need activation code, but if not you and if pre-installed OS is installed with the installation of Microsoft disk you need to pay for a valid license.

All the time, you're in the magic circle. You always ask the same question, but somehow, you don t read what other people write here. Please read another thread - http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=262518

  • How can I block Windows media player-all function or video?

OK, I have one of four newspapers-ons in my pc that is locked down pretty tight where the only thing I want to work is word processor (WordPerfect and starting Word version).  My teenage son has impulse control issues, which gives more access means that it is wandering and not on the task.  Theoretically, he likes to play music while working on school assignments (writing) on the computer.  The problem is that apparently in addition to the execution of music files already resident on our pc and external drive, he inserted DVD in the dvd player and movies run (secretly) that are played to use the features of Windows media player.  My preference would be to hell video functionality or the ability to use the DVD drive under this opening of session and leave the ability of audio file.  Is there a way to do this?

Alternatively, if I install another drive, can I block the video features of a different player and block the drive windows completely?

    Hi Akphoneguy,

We understand that you want to restrict your teenager using Windows Media Player to play the video file but without impact on music files. However, the feature that you are curious about is currently not available in Family Safety. It can only restrict the entire working application and not a specific feature within the application. If you think that restrict certain features of any application is a convenient feature to have safe family, we suggest that submit you it as a feature request to Microsoft who appreciates your comments and considers that the suggestion of a future versions. In regards to your idea to install a new drive and Windows Media Player blocking completely, as now, we have no information for the player who can perform the function you are looking for. We can only suggest what to look for any media player that may able to do using your search engine preferred.

Windows Media Player won't PLAY VIDEO (MOVIES); ONLY SOUND CAN BE HEARD.

Can someone please?  I go crazy - my windows media player will not play anything except the sound on videos (films are so far the problem).  She claims codecs are updated automatically, I'm too scared to download some unknown codec.
