ONTAP-v in a vmmark test

Has anyone tried a VMMark test with a virtual machine that is used to manage the cluster storage?

I have several hardware solutions, I am unable to run VMMark because they contain foreign to the workload Vms(for storage). ClusterVMapping .txt reports an incorrect number of virtual machines in the tiles, which is what I expected.

Is it possible to exclude these virtual machines in the vmmark2.config?

Hello

You can disable the cluster mapping by editing the file VMMARK2.config and uncomment then by setting "DoClusterMapping = 0".

  • How do we reuse the vmmark test environment?

    Dear Sir.

We have built a VMMARK test environment and completed the test on my dock.

If we want to run the test on another platform, should rebuild us a VMMARK test for the new platform environment?

We had tried to leave the new platform to connect to iscsi of the old platform, but we have not found any virtual machine on the new platform.

If so, should reinstall us all the tiles on the new platform?

Could you give me some suggestions on this?

    Thank you!

    Hello

If you have attached storage even as what was used previously, and storage is visible to the new ESX host, then you will need to just 'register' the VMmark VM on the new ESX host.

One way to do this is through the Virtual Infrastructure client.

    1. connect to the new ESX host.

    2. click on the ESX host name (if necessary).

    3. click on the configuration tab.

    4. click on the storage option.

5 you should now see the storage that you used previously.  Right click on the name of the storage and choose "browse the data store.

    6. search for the virtual machines that you want, within their individual records must be an individual named "vmx" file  Right click on it an choose "add to the inventory.

That's all.  Remember to recreate your vSwitches as you had on the previous ESX host.

Finally, if you use ESX (not ESXi) you can do this via the command by navigating to the same folders and running line "vmware-cmd - s register Handy if you want the script operation.»

  • VMmark test on different subnet

    Hello

Require VMmark tile VMs to be on the same subnet as vCenter? I have my VMs on 192.168.x.x subnet, however my Console ESXi and vCenter is on 172.140.x.x)... they are not reachible between them... And I see the VMmark request details vCenter configuration file and the data store...

I don't know if I can run benchmarks on this environment. Which will work?

    Thank you!

    / JAS

PS: Sorry for the double posting. I think I posted the same question earlier on a community lot, but received no answers.

    Hello

No, your VMS don't need to be on the same subnet as your vCenter.   You network seems fine. Only the first client must be able to communicate with all hosts, virtual machines, the clients and the vCenter.  This is usually accomplished by having two network cards in the preferred customer.

  • can we organize 1 tile vmmark test with just mail server set up inside

I had 1tile configured with any mail server and configured standbyvm and it gives me error for other vm (olio and dv2 store). I would like to know we can configure rul vmmak 1tile configuration with any mail server it contains.

Yes, uncomment and change the variable WORKLOADLIST in your VMMARK2.config file, you can specify what you want to run workloads.

It would be for any email server and standby.

WORKLOADLIST = 'mail server pending. "

You can do the same for the infrastructure via the INFRASTRUCTURELIST variable so workloads.  See the corresponding text in the VMMARK2.config file or the guide of evaluation of the performance for more information.

Please contact the SPEC Office and make arrangements to return the SPECweb2009 kit (except if you want non-VMmark test)

    and ask SPECweb2005 v1.20.

You need to specifically request v1.20 since you use it with VMmark since there is a newer release v1.30 who has

No, it's for Windows. You must add the client to the domain of the e-mail server so that LoadSim is running.

  • OlioWeb VM consumes 99% CPU usage and get errors webload olio.

    Hello

I have 3 ESXi servers in cluster and a separate Esxi server for virtual computers customer. I have 2 tiles set in my configuration.

I lit only tile0 of Esxi server1 and ran the vmmark test. I got the result in the form of complaint with scores generated.

Same way lit only tile1 of ESXi server2 and ran the vmmark test. I got the result in the form of complaint with scores generated.

Now, I tried to run the tile 2 tile 0 energized the server 1 and tile1 energized server2.

I found olioweb vm of two tiles consuming 99.9% CPU usage and result shows a lot of olioweb the failure of the workload. I observed ESXi server consumes 70% only the use of the processor in both servers.

I would understand if its cpu leads to failures of olioweb? Also find out if hit the threshold of CPU?

Is there something wrong with my vms olioweb?

When I run tiles tiling oly 0 or tile1, I see oiliweb VM consumes 45% CPU utilization.

Verifed below things after mentioning other discussions with similar errors.

-> VMware tools installed in the virtual machines.

-> 10 G network adapter is installed on all servers and network synergy is less than 30% in the vmmark test.

--> All are same server with the same configuration of CPU. DELL PE R820.

Attached the vmmark newspapers and olioweb vm performance monitor screenshot.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

When you say you checked the space on OlioWeb and OlioDB VMs, have you done this before or after the race?  For verification, please make a "df-h" on all 4 virtual machines before and after the race.

In addition, it seems that you have set up the hosts file incorrectly:

    OlioWeb0_hosts.txt:192.168.7.4 Olio-db
    OlioWeb0_hosts.txt:192.168.7.14 Olio-DB
    OlioWeb1_hosts.txt:192.168.7.4 Olio-db
    OlioWeb1_hosts.txt:192.168.7.14 Olio-DB

Only, there should be one entry per host for olio-db file.  Try to change that and we will collect a cleaner race.

  • How long does it take for VMMark2.5.2, to collect the results?

    Hello

I am running VMMark 2.5.2 landmark for the first time and with a single mosaic only.

4 any vmmark test standard config Viz VMmark initialization, VMmark installation, configuration VMmark Wkld, VMmark run tiles are passed.

But the results collection takes 1 hour 50 minutes to complete and it is not yet complete.

Is this a problem with VMmark?

    Thank you

OK, I think I found the solution. Result collection stage was stuck to copy the file on the Client system and there is not enough space on the left.

I have restarted the test and update once done.

But I can not find the results file. So my question is, where is my error in the tool? Or is it my fault? I ignore something? Can I take another file to display values compareable? Just for my own, do not download them on a Web site.

Attached you will find the VMmark2.cfg file. A comment to this: due to the large number of errors in the time before, the mail server is eliminated in the config file, just to get the error it there in at least all other machines work.

I also had no errors in the output of VMmark to STAX monitor.

    Waiting for answers,.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Jones

    Salvation Jones,

This behavior is by design. The file Score_N_Tile_Test.out, which calculates the VMmark score is created only when all workloads are running, which is in VMMARK2. CONFIG:

    WORKLOADLIST = 'MailServer sleep OlioWeb OlioDB DS2WebA DS2WebB DS2WebC DS2DB'

    and

    INFRASTRUCTURELIST = "deploy Vmotion SVmotion.

Since you have not run Mailserver (and in the provided VMMARK2. CONFIG, you exclude deploy also), Score_N_Tile_Test.out was not created.

However, you can manually run the script that produces the Score_N_Tile_Test.out and create a partition on a track already done by manually excluding the workload of mail server was not working at the time. In the Guide of the VMmark Benchmarking, see "partial failure or Run no consistent results" for how to do this. However, you will not be able to get a "VMmark Score" which requires that all workloads to run.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you

    Rebecca

  • A few questions of the benchmarking Guide.

    Hi people,

    I now use ESX 5.1

I have a few questions about the VMmark test!

    1.

Disk space for VM is important?

Because I found the client model.

Space is limited, after that I installed the cygwin

I use Windows 2008, the default 32 GB is not enough

Same thing happened the day before VM

The default space is not enough after Windows Update

    2.

When we asked him to specify the size of the virtual disk and provisioning policy, enter either 15 GB (for you will be

using Windows Server 2003) or 32 GB (because you are using Windows Server 2008), let the floppy

    Uncontrolled Provisioningoptions

For this configuration to disk, I have to choose one of the three methods, I can't uncheckd

    Only that I should check?

Is there any document with pictures of installation to follow?

    Thank you very much...

The script automatically uncomment all lines, as for example the kern.srv.cleanup_threads, cygserver.conf values 2.

In the files that you have shown, the values were already décommentés so there is no change. Your cygserver.conf is correct.

  • Mail server question.

    Hi all

I have a problem on the server of mail in VMmark.

It always fails if I try to run the loadgen with the mail server model.

It will pass if I change the channel to the other name.  (vmmark2initializationtemplate.xml)

    EX:

    mailserver0.mail0.VMmark.com.tw < ClientAccessServers > < channel > < / string > < / ClientAccessServers >-> abc.mail0.vmmark.com.tw < ClientAccessServers > < channel > < / string > < / ClientAccessServers >

But there is no VM which is using the domain name "abc.mail0.vmmark.com.tw".

    I need help.

    THX.

    Hello

I tried to pass Ds2db0 and Olioweb to new storage and rerun the vmmark test.

    The result is COL.

The Qos of mail server has become Ms. 3xx.

    Thank you.

  • How to solve this problem in test VMmark?

When we run Vmmark harness, it has always failed and the message "could not PING 6 following machines.

    (See attachment harness_run_fail. (JPG)

Although I have confirmed that the customer could ping 6 machines, the test has always had the same failure.

Someone knows how to fix this? Thank you!

You use the VMs model or you build your own?  Model virtual machines should have already installed staf and works.

You cannot ping because the TCP library does not load.  You must be able to start with this TCP library STAF.  Looks like he can't solve the file server host name, make sure that the host name is defined in your file/etc/hosts with the IP address for your configuration.

  • Invalid resources causing nonconforming tests

    Hello once more team VMmark!

I had several successful only passes to be "Not_Compliant".  I received an error which requires and the acknowledgement on the invalid resources that I can recognize and the test completes successfully without error said.

I have attached the ClusterVMapping.txt file and the HTML results and reports.

    Ideas?

Also, should I remove a comment in the for the DVDstores to get information for them?

    Thanks in advance.

    James,

Here's the issue I'm having with the DeployVM.

I checked that I have a file SignedOff.ini and I checked in my customization specifications, I have included the command run once.  I checked that the password is set to the same value in the model and the CS.

The virtual machine will be deployed using the customization of the model specification.  Everything by watching the virtual machine it happens to start with an error "incorrect password" and then restarts twice and finished in the customization.  When she returned this last time, I have the same "incorrect password" error.  However, if I type the password, it connects and STAF starts in the background. This allows a successful SCOTT ping.  If the system does not automatically connect then STAF will never start and a Ping of STAF can take place.

    Ideas?

    Thank you

    Jerry
