opatch vs YES

Hello all;

I collect information about opatch. I am not satisfied with the rest of the statements.
IS this true?
Opatch is also another type of patch,
When we apply the single fix, we can use opatch utility.
When we applying patchsets, we can use YES.
If we have downtime, we use YES. If not, we can use opatch.
Note: I've seen official docs saying opatch is a utility not as another type of patch.

Please provide details... Thank you...

bash: opatch: command not found

bash (your order processing interface) said you that there is no executable file named "opatch" in one of the directories listed in your PATH variable. If you do a "$PATH echo" you will see that ' / u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/OPatch' is not included.

Opatch-help
bash: Opatch: command not found

Similarly, there is no executable file named "Opatch" in one of the directories listed in your PATH variable. In fact, there is no file named "Opatch", period. At least none supplied by oracle. UNIX is case sensitive. "Opatch! = "opatch.

  • How to apply the OPatch

    Hello

Can we apply last OPatch while db is running?

    Thank you

Assuming that you mean that the Opatch utility upgrade is usually in \Opatch then Yes you can replace the files there while the databases are running. Be a little paranoid, I always back up the previous version of \Opatch_bak first well.

    Hello
Note 553244.1 says that you can ignore it because it's just a message to say that you have installed a patch super set. This note is for oracle 10.2, but I think it should also be tru in case 11.1.

  • OPatch commands fail with code 255 error and not able to find pots YES

    Hello

I am trying to apply a patch using opatch but I get this error: "OPatch was not able to find pots YES to load their duration. Please provide valid Yes location using 'oui_loc' option. OPatch failed with error code 255".»

    Oracle is 11.2.0.3 x 64 on Windows Server 2008R2 x 64. The PATH variable have % ORACLE_HOME%\OPatch, % ORACLE_HOME%\OPatch\jlib, %ORACLE_HOME%\bin in it.

The single command OPatch that works and not to throw the error is the command "opatch version.

    OPatch Version: 11.2.0.3.5

    OPatch succeeded.

No luck on the search for resolution of problem or documentation on MOS.

I can't find any documentation on the option 'oui_loc '.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Sébastien

First check that your ORACLE_HOME\oui\jlib directory already exists. If so, make sure you have "srvm.jar" in the directory. If not, copy and paste the directory or file (depending on what you're missing) of 11.2.0.3 another environment. I had the same problem and support was able to recreate the problem by renaming the folder jlib, but my specific question was the missing file 'srvm.jar '. Copy one through another system solved this issue. If you are missing "srvm/jar", you can also check ORACLE_HOME\jlib for "srvm.jar", because this could be a problem, as well (it was for me).

  • IAM11gR2 error YES version is not applicable to the current version of OPatch

    Hi Experts,

I just installed IAM 11 GR 2. Can you please share link to download compatible YES for the current version of Opatch to resolve the error described.

    / Home/Oracle/middlewareR2/IAM/OPatch
    [oracle@localhost OPatch] $. / lsInventory opatch

    OPatch Version: 11.1.0.9.0
    YES Version: 11.2.0.1.0
The YES version is not applicable to the current version of OPatch.

OPatch failed with the error code 1

    Help appreciated.

You install 11 GR 2. YES is already a more recent version that you can see its 11.2.0.0. but Opatch is lower. It's 11.1.0.9. Therefore, to upgrade Opatch YES no

  • opatch lsinventory gives me a 'strange '?

    11.2.0.3 RAC and DB.

    Hello

Here is the output of lsinventory to a RAC opatch. What got me confused, is that the DB and RAC have the same patches installed.

As Im fairly new to the RAC, it is common to apply a "Grid Infrastructure Patch Update" in the House database? Or have I missed something here?

  • OPatch version: java version 13.1 and approved?

    Hello

I prepare the installation of the hotfix and you get the following error:

    . / OPatch >. / opatch lsinventory - jdk $JAVA_HOME

/Home/Oracle/Java/JDK1.7.0_45/Bin/bin/Java is not a valid executable for this platform. OPatch cannot continue!

OPatch returns with error code = 1

    Version of the Oracle patch:

    OPatch version: 13.1.0.0.0

    YES version: 13.1.0.0.0

What version of Java is certified?

    Thank you

    Ministry of health

    Hi Moh,

I see that there are two times "bin" which is in your JAVA_HOME path: /home/oracle/java/jdk1.7.0_45/bin/bin/java

Above indicates that by mistake you may have set JAVA_HOME=/home/oracle/java/jdk1.7.0_45"/ bin" (this bin directory should not be here in JAVA_HOME)

Where as the correct JAVA_HOME for your environment should be: /home/oracle/java/jdk1.7.0_45

  • Issue by applying opatch 19434967 10.1.2 on ORACLE HOME

    Hi all

It is just an extension to the problem addressed in the previous post.

    10.1.2 OPATCH_JAVA_ERROR = CheckConflict: 19434967

During the application of the o patch 19434967 on Oracle Home, obtained with the error below 10.1.2.

    ERROR: 1

OPATCH_JAVA_ERROR = CheckConflict: OPatch cannot treat the patches of layering due to no support YES. Please take the last group of patches YES 10.1 "My Oracle Support", and then try again.

Impossible to check the bug/folder conflicts and component of due diligence.

For the error above asked patch 6640838 , IE install newer YES, who have successfully completed. But this Setup, downgrades the OPatch utility at 1.0.0.0.61, earlier it was 1.0.0.0.64, and this resulted in the error below when you apply the o19434967 patch for the second time.

    ERROR: 2

The patch 19434967 directory does not match the id of the patch.

ERROR: OPatch failed during pre-reqs check.

After some research, I found that the error(ERROR:2) above can be solved by installing the latest OPatch, if I did all the problem is repeated once again.

Can anyone please suggest how to apply this patch successfully.

    Thank you

    Moore.

    Hello

You must select the following options when you apply the patch, YES:

    Universal Oracle install

    Install SDK Component

    Java Runtime Environment

You must deselect the following component:

    Installation Oracle libraries

Cannot apply the Patch: OPATCH_JAVA_ERROR = CheckConflict (Doc ID 1544470.1)
