  Only OE saves messages in dbx format, and messages of these files must be extracted (see www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/).  Try to save the copied text in Notepad in format txt instead of a rtf file and see if you can read the file.

  I have Windows 7 Home Premium service pack1 copyright 2009 with word 2010 starter.

  The file of the "word" icon has now changed to "DOCX" in my documents. When I open it, it says that it is in the word pad. When I go into 'open with' right click it recommends a default Word Pad. "When I opened the box below this for a choice by default, there is no" word "to implement.

  Oh boy, am I ever stressed.

  My update of Windows 10 failed today (error: failure of page in nonpaged area).  I will have that later - my immediate problem is that when the update failed and stopped, it is automatically reduced to Windows 7 and all of a sudden I can't get all my Word or Excel files.

  More specifically: I can't open my files in Word or Excel, except those saved on the desktop.  Desktop files open fine, but whatever it is saved in a folder or other location does not open.   Other types of file open: photos, Photoshop, PDF, apparently everything opens without a problem.  For Microsoft Office files, I get the following messages:

  Excel cannot access "File Name.xls". the document may be read-only or encrypted.

  1. I registered normally (as an administrator).

  2. when I right click on the file and look at the properties, everything seems normal (read-only is not checked, and the location of the file looks correct.

  3. I tried to pass a doc to a folder on my desktop.  It says that I have to give permission to the administrator.  I am able to click on the button 'continue' admin, the file is moved to the desktop, but still does not open.

  Any advice would be welcome!  I'm not a computer expert, and I desperately need to access my documents.
