Open built in the workspace Addons in LabVIEW application using the API

I do Veristand project who uses a lot o custom code for additional features (database Custom logging, several preconfigured stimulus profile running on action of the user, custom logging datafile, customized SCADA-like display of the State of the system (pipes, valves, pumps, etc.)). On any other user of hand interface for the control of the program must be simple, because operators use (the only options, no change in operation) and similar to the previous system solution (which was HMI, touch screen with multiple monitors).

I plan to do LabVIEW custom application for GUI which communicates with the gateway Veristand and target using API functions.

However, I want to implement some already existing in the workspace tools in LabVIEW code, such as monitor of the alarm. There are "Open workspace tool" API functions in the labVIEW Veristand API function list. This function requires the toolpath to workspace as an argument. How can I set path for those built in the workspace tools? I'm not managing to find with the simple search.

  • LabVIEW playback using TestComplete Drag option controls

Hi, we are working on TestComplete and LabVIEW to test our product embeded, here it is writes TC script to read X application data and then pass the values to the controls of LabVIEW. I tried to use option drag in TestComplete for LabVIEW control to display data who read X application but could only able to read the menu outside window LabVIEW (I mean maximize, minimize and close) and its not reading or indicators controls. Below the code example, when I read control in comunicator application using drag in TC. Sys.Process ("communicator"). Window ("#32770", "entries", 1 Test). Window("static", "", 1) code example below when I read control in LabVIEW application using option slide into Sys.Process ("LabVIEW") TC (its not of controls or reading of indicators in LabVIEW window). Window ("LVDChild", "TEST AUTOMATION.vi", 3) appreciate your help to solve this problem. Best regards, K Virgil

Thank you Dennis, now work as expected, the solution: we should use ActiveX Rich Text format control, and then connect property of indicator text node in Labview, TestComplete use objectspy to control the Rich Text format in labview, you will get the code example as below.

Define ch0 = Sys.Process ("LabVIEW"). Window ("LVDChild", "ANALOG INPUTS - EVEN the CHAINS", 3). Window ("NIContainerClippingWindow", "", 4). WinFormsObject ("ControlAxSourcingSite")

then to pass values to labview control use below code

ch0 appeal. Keys ("from TC to LabVIEW values")

  • Install Firebug causes: two title bars, unable to open the tab addons and inability to use the vibration function, etc.

After further research, I think this should be classified as a plugin problem...

Firebug 1.7 X A10 causes two title bars (standard windows bar and a second inside with the new tab in Firefox just orange... both with minimize/maximize/close buttons), and other bizarre behaviors listed below:

Any saved tabs to before the installation/activation are gone.
Choosing Addons in menu does nothing. After you open a new empty tab Addons Manager is responsible.
Choice of feedback-> me xxxx, does nothing.
Hit the reload button does nothing
URL bar (page address) remains the same between tabs (if changes to the loaded page)
    Addon Firebug works fine.

After obtaining the Addon Manager (it took a bit of work to do) and disable Firebug, all problems are gone. My story of previous tab is also returned.

This seems to be specific to Windows XP. I installed this version of Firebug with Win7 with success.

The two title bars is a known - bug http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=4012

  • How should I treat the files that have been opened by using my LabVIEW application?

    Hello!

I want to put the code in my LabVIEW program that she will handle a file opened with.  Let's say I have create my app as an .exe.  I have my .exe associated with a particular file type in Windows.  If the user double clicks on the file, it will launch my labview application.

How can I get the information in path of file of the file that the user has clicked on in my code so I can handle?

    Thanks for your time!

    -nic

    @Ravens-

    If you put:

    SuperSecretPrivateSpecialStuff = True

In your file LabVIEW.ini, it will unlock an "OS Open Document" event to use in a block Structure of the event with a 'File Path' node on the left side.  Whenever the application is launched via a file of the operating system, this event fires (even if your application is already up to-and-operational).

Works like a champ and is enough would apply us!

  • An application using LabVIEW as a program by default to open files

Google returned nothing useful on it.  I want to use a LabVIEW application built to open files of data from the Windows desktop. It is easy to modify the Windows registry to set the application as default - but I do not know how to define the event in LabVIEW to open the file.  A bibliography?

    See this - http://labviewwiki.org/Associate_your_own_file_type_with_Windows_Explorer

I think remember me that people used to say that it has stopped working and that there is a work around, you may need to do some research more on this event.

  • Open different files to workspace with VeriStand API

Hello, I have a question about the API VeriStand using LabVIEW. LabView is able to open a specific project of VS; now, I mean VS to open the same project file with a file from another workspace (.nivsscreen) similar like the box below, but with the API:

I want to do this is because I want to open different files, workspace according to the connected equipment.

Is there an API function to do this?

    Thank you, Michael

There is not an API to directly modify the screen workspace or ask running workspace to load a particular screen.

I think going that you can accomplish what you want, leaving to know the definition of deployed system but by program by selecting different workspaces to display via the API. It is a small roundabout and there are a few quirks of cosmetics that I mention below, but it's probably worth a look. I am attaching an example below, you can play.

The main idea is to create a system definition file, and then create several separate project VeriStand files which all related to the same system definition. You can do this in the dialog box create a new project by selecting the tab system definition to use a definition from existing system rather than create a new one. For each project you create, modify the file to corresponding workspace screens for some display you like.

Once you have done this, use execution > Workspace screws to deploy by programming the system definition file. It is important that do you rather than deploy the system through the project definition file, as I'll explain below. Then, you can take advantage of the project API screw for programmically load and close projects, as well as launch and close the workspace for this project. To view a particular workspace, just close the current project (if it is open) and load the project associated with this workspace. Then ask this project to open his window to the workspace.

The key thing to note here is that if a project load and it detects that VeriStand bridge is already linked to its definition of linked system, it will just adopt that opens the connection. In addition, if the project is closed, it will NOT cancel the deployment of this system gateway definition connection, because it doesn't have to deploy it in the first place.

See the example below. Just unzip all the files in the same folder and open the Automator.vi workspace. Make sure VeriStand is open before you run this VI.

Known issues: when you switch workspaces in this example, you are in fact a project of closing and opening another. Therefore, the window began to do can do appear briefly.

  • How can I me favorites to open directly under the folder on the side bar to save space of width?

Just reset Firefox (latest version) as she was spinning slowly, now much better, but I had customized the bookmarks bar so that everything (folders, bookmarks) opened directly below the other rather than a step to the right. It saves space. This customization is gone and I can't find how I did as there has been a response somewhere at least a couple of years. Help, please. Thank you

You can use the Stylish extension for easier access to the customization files.

  • Access a queue within a labview application .exe built

    Hello

I have a labview application .exe built in which there is a queue. I would like to put items in this queue to a labview vi that exists outside of the application.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you,

    labJunky

With the correct changes, sure. For example, you can configure a listening TCP port in the .exe and send orders in this way.

  • Open and close the Panel the Subvi front

    Hi all

Run LabVIEW 2011 on Windows 7 x 64.  I am trying to get a Subvi front to open from my main PC with the touch of a button, then close with a button press in the Subvi.  Here's the piece of my main FP who calls the VI and opens the FP

Locations is defined in another loop and all loops are in a flat order.  I made this way because I want to start with the first press and not stop my main loop to run.  So I don't know if I can run in the same line as the event or not, I've moved the element to the left loop around a lot.  Anyway the VI of openness seems to work very well.

The problem arises when you try to close the Subvi for the SECOND time.  The code is here:

As I said, the first time I open and close the VI everything works as it should, hopefully.  Then, I am able to reopen but now 'empty' button does not work and I can't close the window or even to open the block diagram to probe anything.  I tried to understand this point for a while, any insite would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

Found my problem, I had the wrong boolean on one of my other events.  If this seems to be a good way to open/close a Subvi if anyone is interested!

  • Opening Word, Excel and PowerPoint files in LabVIEW with digital signature of files

    Hello

I try to open Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents in LabVIEW (or were then converted into a format that can be opened). After the opening, to fill out checklists can insert a digital signature preset (possibly through an authorisation of user name and password) and save the file while preventing further edit or print a pdf of this report.

I have a good experience with LabVIEW, but not in this kind of a system.

I appreciate if someone can point me in the direction to start.

    Thank you very much

    Al

Regarding (1): there is no ActiveX control to view the Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint files. If you want to display these on a front of LabVIEW, so the simplest solution is to use a web browser on the front panel control. This will allow you to provide the path to the file in the URL of the web browser control navigation and the file will be embedded in the browser control. It would be no different than the consultation within Internet Explorer.

Regarding (2): assuming that you view the document on the front panel, this looks like the basis of LabVIEW programming, so I don't know what you're asking for here, or that you are having problems with.

With regard to the (3): I must admit that I'm not quite clear on what will be signed. It also seems that the signing and printing of PDF are two distinct objectives here.

  • Installation of construction LabVIEW application disables the Windows Device Manager? Help on how to diagnose the problem?

Please can anyone shed light on this, or suggest where to look?

I built an application using the Application Builder of LV2014 (32 bit).

On a Win7 X 64 PC at work, it installs and runs ok.

On Win7 X 64 PC at the customer, it installs ok, but then after Windows restarts on demand 'device manager' no longer works and there are some unchangeable registry entries associated with nipalu. The client runs Symantec security software. A client COMPUTER technician is suggesting that LabVIEW is interacting with device drivers and this is the origin of the problem, but we do not know how to go further. It is not really acceptable to deploy computers where the Windows Device Manager no longer works. Surprisingly, the application itself works always - it's just Windows which messed up.

    Thank you

Thanks for the suggestions. The company IT guy has not been able to talk to a person in NI UK support (no one was available), but he managed to keep it down to a problem with Dell Data Protection encryption Enterprise Edition. Delete first, then install the LabVIEW application, then reinsert DDPE gave a system where everything worked.

We have built apps that used progressively more labview drivers (vision, labview base; digital i/o)

  • VI Analyzer in an application using the built

I have an application which is designed for a continuous integration server.  This application uses the VI Analyzer API (Labview 2009 for the moment) to run a series of tests on a case of the screws.  The problem is that when the program is run like VI all is happy, that the folder is added using the 'Add VIAn Item.vi' and the task runs on the four VI in the folder.  But when the VI is built and comes as an exe file, 'VIAn Add Item.vi' appears to add the folder but no vi is analyzed and if a specific VI is given then error 53 is thrown by "NI_FileType.lvlib:Get leader Type.vi.  Is it just a case of not being able to use the VI Analyzer API in a built application that is running as an exe?  I have attached the front panel of the application built after he was executed and the rear panel of the source code in question; There is more that the rest is just to determine the paths to analyze.

The VI Analyzer API is not supported in a built EXE.

can I open an ActiveX object in word if labview is not installed?

I want to export a LabView CWGraph3D to Word. In fact, it works pretty well in my computer but when I try to open the word file on a computer that does not have intalled of LabView, simply open the the grapgh as an image and I can not be able to rotate the image or manipulate the graph.

Do I need to install all the drivers MStudio or any other driver? Y at - there no way to do it with out installing Labview or any driver?

    Thank you

    Thanks Nick...

I wonder if it's the only option. I mean if I want to send a word file with this 3D object inserted into the file to someone who doesn't know not what is labview, but it is just interesting to watch the 3-d chart and be able to rotate and look at different angles. He needs to install this driver?

Is there another way to do it?

  • How a LabVIEW application can be run from the account invited in Windows 7?

I want to do some of my labVIEW available visitors to temporary applications (no DAQ or involved external devices) in the laboratory. A natural choice would be the guest account in Windows 7, but if I try to run LabVIEW or one of my LabVIEW applications built, I get the following error message.

I don't know that this can probably be fixed with a few permission settings. What is the best way to enable these applications running from the guest account?

I think that the easiest thing would be to create another user account and set the permissions on that if guests are unable to get into the stuff you don't want them getting into.
