    Hello

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. Form when you try to open pictures? Is it in Photo Viewer?
    2. What type of files you are trying to open?
    3. You are able to open the photos in the Photos App?
    4. What is the brand and model of the computer?
    5. You did changes to the computer before this problem?

I suggest you to try the steps below and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

Method 1: Run the utility to search and index and check.

    a. press the Windows key + X and click on Control Panel.

    b. click on Troubleshooting.

    c. Select display all on the upper left corner.

    d. perform research and solving problems of indexing.

Method 2: Restart the Windows Search service and check.

    (a) press Windows + R key and type "services.msc" and press ENTER.

    (b) locate the Windows Search service and right-click on it.

    (c) click Properties and check that the start option has been activated.

Method 3: If the problem persists, I suggest you to run a full scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner (MSS) to ensure that the computer is virus-free.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner free is a downloadable security tool that allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Hi denisb,

If you are not able to open the Photos App images directly in Photoshop then, this is the expected behavior as App Photos does not allow for any third-party application interact with it directly.

You must export images from the Photos App and then open in Photoshop.

  • How do I open picture it! mix files in windows vista?

    • I saved the picture on my last laptop on a disc using windows xp, from microsoft picture it! When I put the disc in my new laptop which is running vista, he said: I can't open mix files and to choose another program to open them, but which?

    Hi kali2666,

Mix Picture It (extension) format requires MS Picture It or MS Digital Image installed on the computer.

In order to open the files .mix in windows vista, you will need to convert the files into a format supported by windows as a jpeg or bmp file format.

Use your favorite search engine to search and download any converter to convert the .mix files.

  • Why am I unable to open pictures on an external drive?

My external hard drive is a Western Digital My Passport, which connects via usb.  I used it without any problem on a HP Pavilion Media Center 8530f running Windows 7 for about a year.  Recently, the hard drive failed and I replaced the 8530 with a HP Pavilion p6 - 2117c that is also running Windows 7.  I was able to access photos and several folders on the WD since the start of the desktop computer.  Files generated with Word, Excel, Access, etc have no problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Photo Gallery can't open this picture because you are not allowed access to the location of the file.

Try to make a new folder on the outside, then select a group of images and copy to the new folder. Any difference?

Or select all of them by clicking on the first once to select, hold down the SHIFT key and select the last picture. All all now selected, right-click on the Group of photos and choose "Share with", and then choose Homegroup.

  • Windows Photo Viewer does not not and open pictures

I did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit last week. I had Win XP and started all over with Win 7. I installed everything on my PC and everything seems to work except the photo viewer. I can't open, and it is defined as the default value for all the photos. When I opened a photo, I'd get a COM surrogate error and another window on this error asking if I'd like to send information to Microsoft. I clicked Yes and all the errors disappeared. Now when I open a photo I can see the thinking of system and then nothing happens. I tried the following command to test / fix.

Used paint to create multiple documents of different types (jpg, bmp, png). None of these types is open in Photo Viewer.

All other PCs on Win 7 in my house can open the same photos very well so I know that they are not damaged. I have the shared disk that has pictures on it.

Run the SCF/scannow - this has not fixed the problem.

Installed to the Windows Photo Gallery - this has not fixed the problem.

I noticed that Windows error reports an APPCRASH whenever I try to open the photo viewer. There is also an Application error reports Windows error that says that there was an application error for dllhost.exe.

What should I do to fix this? Can I reinstall the photo viewer or do a repair system?

    Previously, did you use

If not, you will need to check with the manufacturing of your computer for win 7 drivers available for your video / graphics card...

  • Cannot open pictures (jpg) in Windows 8 after restoring a backup of my old laptop to Windows 7. Permissions problem?

Using a WD 1 TB external hard drive and the WD software, I made a backup of my old computer with the intention of transferring pictures, documents, etc. to my new computer Windows 8.

Files backed up and I restored it selectively records my images on the new computer without error.

When I open the folder my pictures in Windows 8, I see the files but the imprint does not show the picture.  to place an icon for Windows picture something or another watch (purple photo of the mountains).

Images will be open in everything I tried.  Something about a permissions problem.

Any ideas on what I could have done wrong or how to fix the permissions problem, so I can see my photos?

Click on the photos (you can select/highlight all and do it once for each of them at the same time) and go to properties.  On the Security tab, click Advanced, and then change the "owner" for your user account (search in the options that appear).

After you set the owner, click OK until all boxes are saved/closed.  Return to properties again and this time, set yourself to have "total control" on the files. Now you should be able to open and use.

  • Cannot open pictures transferred from windows 7 to the new laptop with windows 8

I transferred all my documents on my new computer windows 8. I can open all documents (word, excel, etc.), but no pictures. When I right click on the folder properties they have, it is set read-only. I have UN-click on that and he sends me to another screen to allow the entire folder. They are still not open, and when I go back into the properties, it is back to read-only. All the pictures have the same icon (green background with a frame in white, inside the frame is mountains and a sun... odd)

Does anyone know how to get back my photos to their normal state?

Thanks a lot for your answer. I solved the problem... had a friend stop who thought with me. It had to do with the UN checking the properties under display, marked "display only icons, never thumbnails"... who knew these things exist, or how they get checked! Thanks again for the message.
