Open scanned PDF

Hi all

I hope it's in the right place!

I have a series of HP Deskjet all-in-one J510 2012

I scanned just text in PDF format.

The PDF file does not open as the PDF of the habit of doing, instead, I get a message indicating:-

"Installation on the application component is required for this operation.

The component when it is uncompressed, will use an extra GB of 0.003 and take 20 seconds to execute. (etc.)

How can I get back to being able to open a PDF file without having to download a program that makes me accept the dreaded toolbar!

Thanks for any input

ColinX

Thanks BH. I did it and now it is marked with the insignia of Adobe.

I 'worked' and have now discovered that, in the past, I could convert a PDF to Word document without any problem, it seems that shall pay Adobe for the privilege.

All for nothing! I will search the Web for a free Converter.

    Hello

I scanned with my printer, 10 pages in a single pdf file.

When I opened the pdf file created by the scan, page 1 is still missing and 9 other pages are correct.

When I print the pdf file, page 1 is printed in white, but the next 9 pages are printed correctly and a blank page is added at the end I added the new drivers but still does not work.

Surprisingly, when I scan only 2 pages, it works well in the pdf file. As soon as I add another page, page is blank...

Any help would be really accepted.

  • HP Envy 4500-e all-in-one: scan PDF

If I analyze the PDF document, I have to key in the "HP Print Wizard - Scan - PDF". Is there a way to shotener to do this?

    Hi @ekag,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I noticed that you wonder if there is a faster way to scan a PDF document with your HP ENVY 4500 e-all-in-one printer. I'd be happy to help you with this.

What I recommend that we do is to add the HP scanning icon to the taskbar.

To do this: Open file by dragging it from the edge Explorer screen, tap Find (or if you use a mouse, pointing to the top right of the screen, move the pointer of the mouse down and then clicking search), registering file Explorer in the area of research and then by typing or clicking on File Explorer. Hi DanEIG ,

    This happens with all PDFs?

Try to repair by navigating using Acrobat pro DC > repair facility and also check for updates under the menu help.

Also, try right-clicking on the PDF document and select the option 'Open with Adobe Acrobat Pro' and check if it opens the file or not.

We also indicate the OS version you have.

Let us know if that helps.

I ve just to open a PDF file in Word format, but I can't use it properly. The document is unformated...

The conversion to WORD (if you converted before you opened in WORD, because WORD does not open PDF files to my knowledge) is a luck of the draw. Two options are generally available, to keep the page layout and to maintain the flow of the text. The provision creates a bunch of text boxes in WORD with your information. The stream format does not text boxes. If the PDF file has been create from WORD with all tags (using PDF Maker), then the conversion can be almost flawless. If it was printed to PDF format or the markup turned off, then you are function Acrobat (or export) try to interpret what is necessary and the results is often not great. An article that almost never comes out right are equations.

If you scanned the document, then you have an OCR option, but don't expect great things. You must always keep the originals of your documents. Reverse engineering function, a PDF to WORD is a dangerous practice.

A scanned document is an image; You can't find a picture.

If the image contains text, recognition of characters (OCR) will convert the 'text' in the image in real text (searchable, editable).

OCR can be performed automatically when converting a PDF to Word, using the ExportPDF service.

To run OCR inline in a PDF document, you will need Acrobat.

  • How to open a PDF file using the built-in Viewer? (Windows 8.1)

When I try to open a PDF file I have the pop-up dialogue "you have chosen to open *.pdf Firefox do with this file? And display in Firefox is not one of the options. I am sure that what is happening is that there is no dialogue, and the PDF has just opened in the integrated Viewer pdf.js. If something is wrong with my profile I guess.

I tried the instructions here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox-without-downloading-them

I checked through all my extensions and you do not have open a PDF (I have uBlock, NoScript and Zotero).
    I completely uninstalled Adobe Reader.
I checked that in preferences/Applications, PDF is set to "Preview in Firefox.
I did as I went through: config and change all settings with 'pdf' on their return to their default values
But none of these things work.

Is there anything else I can try to get this working?

I think the problem I had was that some of the PDF files is served by Web sites with a "header" (I don't really know what that means) called "Content-Disposition: attachment", and when this happens, Firefox refuses to load them into the integrated PDF Viewer. (I don't know why Web sites this.)

It is very helpful, especially because Firefox gives no indication as to what is happening (why the user preference for a PDF file is not respected). I just thought that the PDF Viewer was broken and spent hours trying to fix it.

If anyone runs into this problem, there is an extension that fixes it: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/inlinedisposition/

There is a Bugzilla bug open about it: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=773942

As far as I can see, it would be trivial reflect changes the extension above in Firefox. In the bug of no claim that it would be a bad thing to do for safety reasons. But Firefox should at least present the user the ability to open the PDF file in the integrated Viewer or even more at least have explanations on why the PDF is not currently open in the Viewer, for example "this PDF file was marked for download, so for safety reasons it has not been opened in the integrated Viewer. Who would save people like me, who don't know the HTTP headers that are complicated, just think that Firefox is broken.

    Help?

the machine is a HP Elitebook 8540w. Windows 7 64-bit.

You have configured Firefox to use the Adobe Acrobat plugin? It seems that he may be missing or disabled, because it does not appear in your "more details of the system" (next to your message). You can see the page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. Then on the right, look for Adobe Acrobat. It may be down on a gray background.

If you don't have it: Make sure that this isn't your favorite here player:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > Applications

You can type or paste pdf in the search box at the top of the list after loading to filter.

If you have it, but it cannot be activated using 'Always enable' or "Ask to activate": You may need to update. I recommend using the help inside your product Adobe (Reader or Acrobat) menu to check the updates.

    Any progress?

  • Whenever I try to open a pdf file in firefox, he asks me to activate adobe acrobat. How can I stop this from happening?

I have activate acrobat, but it happens always next time I need to open a pdf file. The same problem occurs when I use a quicktime file. I can down down I would allow me every time but one time, next time, I want to use, see, or hear a quicktime file I get the same question. It's very annoying. I went into options and chose the file to use to open rather than have me ask but it does not solve the problem either.

Hello moxiet, please go to the firefox menu > addons > plugins where you can set general preferences for individual plugins (always ask or always activate).
