Hello

I suggest make a SFC (System File Checker) scan on the system and check if the problem is resolved. Follow the steps mentioned in the article below.

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747

Once you did check SFC scan, you are able to download Internet explorer on the system and the installation and check. Download internet explorer 8 on the system from the link below.

  • Problem: No icons on desktop, no taskbar, just a black screen with my pointer. I got a response to restart, press F8 to restart the menu, select Safe mode with network, but at this stage of my computer, it is in safe mode, help!

    Ideas:

    • Programs that you have problems with Windows XP
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

    Hello tfortexas

    Do you get the login screen before the black screen?    You never even get to the desktop?

    Try this fix.  You will need an XP installation CD.  If you don't have that it is OK to borrow one.  Try to get the same version of XP as your example Home/Pro/Media

    Configure your PC to boot from the CD if it is not already configured in this way. You may need to enter the BIOS to configure the PC to boot from the CD.

    Set the boot order of

    Floppy (if present)

    CDROM

    Hard drive

    RECORDING and EXIT

    Start your PC with the XP installation CD in the drive. When you see the prompt «Press any key to boot from CD...» ", do and start the process to boot on CD.

    When the Recovery Console option is available ("press R to start the Recovery Console"), do it. You may be asked to what Windows installation to enter, what kind of cases the number of the Windows installation you want to work (usually ' 1').

    When you are prompted, enter the password for the Windows installation. If you have not set up a password just press ENTER

    At the command prompt, type

    FIXMBR

    Come in

    Then type

    Fixboot

    Come in

    Type

  • Following a power failure, I can only open the pc in safe mode.

    The computer "sounds" as if he started, but after the opening of microsoft bar, startup screen, the screen goes black.  I was able to open in safe mode and have also booted from the dvd diagnostics.  There is no problems identified during diagnoses are made.

    In safe mode, the computer connects to the internet, but I am unable to download certain corrections in safe mode.

    This problem occurred shortly after the Windows Live Essentials update.  I can't remove the update.

    Try a restore in safe mode point.  That might solve your problem.

  • Windows initializes to the Safe Mode screen. Unusable keyboard

    Dell Inspiron E1505, Windows XP Home SP3 Ed.    Computer seemed to have some symptoms that I had not fully diagnosed a blocked key "t".  Trying to diagnose the problem, I wanted to start the computer in "safe" mode  When this screen came, my keyboard was unusable, so I couldn't choose how to start Windows (Safe Mode, Mode safe mode with networking, etc.).  The only thing I can't do is hard power the computer down and start again.  But now it always comes with the selection of Safe Mode screen.  The real problem is that the second 30 countdown clock never starts if Windows never starts.  The ability only I seem to have with the computer now is to push the power button to start and press the button to turn off it, but I get them all in the process is the selection of the Saft Mode screen and nothing else.  Please notify.  Thank you.

    You cannot run windows without keyboard operation. If you think it works, (you can check if see the Num, scroll lock or caps lock lights) you can try to access your BIOS with it. If it works from there, (not too sure what to try out unless you have another keyboard, you can use to install the appropriate drivers for this) you could try to put in your windows CD and try installing 3rd party drivers. There was also an option in the recovery console to select a default keyboard layout. And if you can acess recovery console, you can then change the boot options to make normal startup or the clock is displayed.

    (In the recovery console, first select your windows installation (default is 1) then it prompts for administrator password, if you have not just press on enter, then type help to see the commands and for more information on order type in the command and /?) Ex: boocfg /? and press ENTER. The main controls, you would need is fixboot and bootcfg.

    I hope this helps a little,

    -Alex.

  • Recently, I got a message saying ' not enough system resources to open the application' for example to explore or outlook express.

    ?? Resources

    My computer has been works well, but twice recently, I got a message saying ' not enough system resources to open the application' for example to explore or outlook express. Restarting it works again, but why the message?

    Hi RaymondWilson,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1: Follow these steps:

    Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

    Step 2: If the problem does not still in safe mode, perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

    After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

    Method 2: Perform a System Restore and check the issue persists.

  • BBM BasicMessageListManager disappears when I open the menu screen

    Hello

    I'm trying to integrate my application with the blackberry messaging platform. for this I use the SDK of BBM. I use a custom desktop to display messages. This screen contains a BasicReplyFieldManager defined as the State of the screen and a BasicMessageListManager that is added as a child of the live screen. This medication is ok, as long as I don't have to open the menu screen. By example, if I override the keyChar method to add messages to the BasicMessageListManager everything is ok. If, on the other hand, I use a menu option to do this, as soon as I open the menu, the BasicMessageListManager disappears. During debugging, I discovered that the BasicMessageListManagerof the Manager is set to null. That's why it disappears. The response of field does ' t disappear because it is in the State. If I put it in a BottomUpManager for example they both disappear.

    If someone has encountered this? or did someone knows how to get around this problem?

    Here is the code I use:

    replyField=new ReplyField();

    smilyBtn=new SmileyButton();
    smilyBtn.setClickRunnable(new Runnable() {
        public void run() {
            synchronized (UiApplication.getEventLock()) {
                SmileyScreen scr=new SmileyScreen();
                scr.show(replyField);
            }
        }
    });
    replyMgr=new BasicReplyFieldManager(replyField, smilyBtn);

    messageMgr=new BasicMessageListManager(0,
            MessageListManager.MESSAGE_STYLE_GROUP_MESSAGES_SAME_SENDER|
            MessageListManager.MESSAGE_STYLE_SHOW_SENDER_DISPLAY_NAME,
            MessageListManager.BORDER_STYLE_BUBBLE);
    messageMgr.toggle();
    BottomUpManager mgr=new BottomUpManager();
    mgr.add(messageMgr);
    mgr.add(replyMgr);
    add(mgr);

    to add messages, I use this

    MessageSender ms=new MessageSender("Me");
    TextMessage tm=new TextMessage(message, ms);
    OutgoingTextMessageField out=new OutgoingTextMessageField(tm);
    messageMgr.addMessage(out);

    Thank you.

    found the answear. It had nothing to do with the BBM SDK classes.

    I turns out I have outweigh the makeMenu method in the class of the screen and there I called menu.deleteAll. Once I removed this line everything was ok.

  • Firefox crashes immediately at the opening and hangs in safe mode too

    Mac 10.5.8. I can't open FF - it crashes immediately. I tried to uninstall and reinstall FF and it still does the same thing. I restarted my computer too and started in safe mode. I have checked all the boxes in the window of safe mode and tried to continue and restart but just keep crashing. Any help is appreciated. I can't get FF to open so there is no ID crash.

  • Windows 7 Build 7600 this copy of Windows is not genuine - I can only run the computer in safe mode

    My son - under Windows 7 Home Premium - Dec 2010 laptop, purchased at Future Shop

    It has worked well for the past 2 years.  Suddenly, on Saturday, he stopped doing anything.
    That's happened?
    I don't know, but when I started upwards, normally, all I get is the 'black screen of death", with the words"Windows 7 Build 7600 this copy of Windows is not genuine ".
    I CAN'T DO anything HERE - can't make a right click, left click, CTRL ALT DEL, menu button - nothing works

    So I rebooted in SafeMode with networking - everything works fine.

    I have tried many fixes - when I read the topics - but NONE OF THEIR WORK in safe MODE
    slui.exe 4?  Does not work in safe mode
    Run?  Does not work in safe mode
    Start - computer - properties - activate windows now?  Does not come to the top, in safe mode
    However, he won't come to the top with a status or product ID
    Starter - activate windows?  does not work in safe mode
    I tried to download the windows / microsoft / genuine / validate the tool - but guess what, that didn't work either - update installation failed - error information 0x8007043C - probably does not work in safe mode - but that's all I have As
    I did a system restore - it 'worked' but ran very slow - and then when I restarted, the problem came back.
    and many others

    I ran Avast free on it - and anti-octets Malware - nothing - but I can only run in safe mode.
    Avast has some programs that run on the system re - start - but it does not start in normal mode - if none of them work

    I read a lot of topics on this - and I'm VERY FRUSTRATED

    I used another laptop - does the slui.exe 4 - and he asks me the activation key?  I can't that - not in safe mode
    I called the phone number - and talked to anyone - they told me to go through the www.howtotell.com - and report a counterfeit copy.  But it's NOT a COUNTERFEIT copy.
    OK - it's perhaps - but why it worked for 1.5 years?  And I bought from FutureShop, so should be reliable.  And I have the certificate of Authenticity on the back

    Don't forget - I can't do anything either in normal mode - but the Safemode with network works perfectly well.

    So, I don't know what to do.

    I don't think that's my problem - I bought a genuine copy, a reliable retailer.
    Anything you can do to help, would be greatly appreciated.

    I agree with this assessment.

    Hard drives come with a large number of spare sectors 'invisible' - it's only when they all well used by repair mechanisms built-in to the reader that the number of bad sectors Windows begins to increase from zero (in your case, it is a sector) means that there is already a significant degradation of the drive, and you can expect the count to start sooner or later back.

  • Login - continuous scrolling - Windows, even in safe mode screen

    I have a Sony Vaio with Win XP SP2 laptop. There was a virus attack, the virus simply scroll whole screen you, as if you press the arrow key down. I stop, then open a session in safe mode, ran Malwarebytes, found and removed 2 utilities passwordStealer and KeyLogger. The problem seemed to have disappeared. But now he is back on the screen Windows safemode login options. I can't select SafeMode / SafeMode with network / anything since the virus is the key of Basel permanently.

    Help, please!

    I tried to boot with the rescue AVG disk / UBUNTU as well, but to no avail. The problem is, once AVG CD load and asks me to choose 1 of 7 options, when I try to press the arrow up / down to go to the option 'Scan', the virus is using the arrow key down.

    Are you sure? Viruses are rare under Linux... It is even more unlikely that the same virus that has been written for Win XP to run in a Linux environment. I'm starting to think that you have some sort of hardware problem.

    !!! WARNING! Be careful here!
    Have you tried to Disconnect completely all your hard disks via anti-static bracelet and boot from your CD Win XP Pro (do not REFORMAT). I think that you should be able to boot from your CD of Win XP to the point just before you have to select the media target. If booting from your CD of Win XP still causes your screen cursor keys act weird, you probably have a hardware problem.

    !!! WARNING!
    When you disconnect a hard drive with an anti static band, you have TO put it and antistatic location on an antistatic surface.

    I think the only option is to go to a technician to remove the HARD drive and sorting. Coz' with this kind of problem, I can not select anything on the screen.

    Remove the hard drive and scanning with another computer are the best way to kill the virus, but you will need to get a proper equipment (band of anitstatic and bags) and find a friend or technician who is willing to risk infection.

    It only happens in Firefox.

    Hi nwfirefly,

    I'll try from Firefox Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode. If you do not have the issue so that all your modules, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the guide to troubleshooting Extensions and themes and article troubleshooting issues with plugins like Flash or Java to solve common Firefox problems as well.

    Hope this helps!

  • How to restart the computer in safe mode?

    Is there a way to restart the computer in safe mode UN-staged network, or at least to list computer startup options including safe mode, without having to wait for the computer to stop, then press on and hold F8 during initial computer boot?

    In particular, there is a command that I can enter from the cmd prompt?

    If it's important, I have a Dell Latitude D610 with MS WinXP Pro 2002 SP3.

    But I really want a method that works on any MS WinXP.

    You can configure your system to boot in any mode desired by using the msconfig utility.

    Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msconfig

    Click OK to launch the utility.

    On the BOOT. INI tab you can add/remove options to the boot.ini file so next time XP starts, it will start in the selected mode.  XP looks at the boot.ini file to decide how it is supposed to start.  You can use the built in Help and/or a few searches on Google to learn more about msconfig.  You will need to adjust things again if you want to start in a different mode, but there would be no F8 key.

    A word of warning.  Some malicious software now recognizes when you added the/SafeBoot option in the boot.ini file on your system.  The malware knows some of the things you could do to try to find and delete this... and he won't be deleted.  He wants you to think that you need to reinstall your XP instead.

    If your system has this condition and you add the option/SafeBoot, your system unbootable ever again successfully XP from hard disk in a different mode until you remove the option/SafeBoot your boot.ini file by starting on something else (like a CD) to manually remove the switch/SafeBoot.

    The switch / SafeBoot used to be pretty, a good idea, but it isn't a good idea these days.

    Do, or do not. There is no test.

    I need YOUR voice and the points for helpful answers and propose responses. I'm saving for a pony!

    Hello

    If you have another system then plug your HARD drive as a secondary to another system & copy below the files of this machine.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe

    Paste these files in the same location in the C drive of the problematic computer.
    Search now for your question.

    If it won't, then I suggest you to repair your operating system.

    Thank you.
