'Open with' filled with duplicates Finder menu

Hi people,

I am running Snow Leopard and currently have Fusion 2.0.6 installed.  I started with Fusion 2.0.5, I installed the beta version 2.0.6 and then installed the final 2.0.6.  It turns out that whenever I made an installation, another option has been added to 'Open with' context menu of the Finder.  They are almost duplicates, with small differences in the description, and only the third entry actually works.  For example, an excel spreadsheet has these options:

OpenOffice.org (default)

Microsoft Office Excel - Windows Vista (2.0.5)

Microsoft Office Excel - Windows Vista 2 (2.0.5)

Microsoft Office Excel - Windows Vista 3 (2.0.6b1)

Other...

So I have a few questions.  First of all, how I clean this?  Secondly, it seems that the only entry that works (i.e. it will launch MS Excel) is the entry 'Vista 3 '.  However, it seems that it always refers to the 2.0.6 beta installation (b1?).  Can it be fixed or is it correct?  As a tip, this same thing is happening for all types of documents and not just MS Office, I just used the example excel file.  TXT files to have a handful of Windows applications in the list, each of them 3 times (it's a long list!).

Thanks for any help!

With all of your Virtual Machines closed, not suspended, go into your settings for each virtual machine and uncheck the box "allow your Mac to open applications in the virtual machine.

Now close the merger then opened the packet of each virtual Machine and delete the application folder that is located in the package of each virtual machine.

Now start merging and then worked for each virtual computer on the desktop and then stop.

Now if you want to allow your Mac to open applications on the virtual machine you can double check the right settings for each virtual machine and still run through each virtual Machine on the desk.

I need to change the default 'open with' Bridge of photoshop to photoshop CC 2015.  How do I do that?

    Hi karen,.

It can get a bit tangled. Bridge delay normally to some think the Finder is the default, and every OS has its own way for you to tell the OS what you say should be the default value. On Mac, it's in the file information dialog box. I think that Windows called something like properties. You can change an extension to open all files with an application in your operating system first, restart Bridge and see if she pays tribute to this choice by double clicking on a file and observing that it opens the right version of PS. normally, it will be. (By default) must also appear after this choice in the list open with contextual (right click on the file you want to open, select open with and find the name of the application in the list).

If this does not work, you will need to manually choose your file association for the extension of the list next to him in the Bridge preferences > File Associations. Which is normally necessary only when you want to override the default choice of your OS System. For example, maybe you want to bridge to open in PS JPEG files when you double-click it in Bridge, but if you double-click on a file in the Finder/Explorer JPEG, you want to open with Viewer of this system. It will not say it is (by default) in the pop-up list more, but bridge will honor your file associated with the choice of your system.

  • Duplicate the application in the "open with" context menu

    Hi all

On my iMac, the last OS X El Capitan.

For an example, so I mediainfo application on the app store and it works fine, no problem.

What happens if I go to a video rile, do a right-click, open with... There mediainfo twice, optionally including a version and the other a newer version if instead of upgrading to the new version of its kept the two versions?

So I look under 'Applications' and that is only once not twice.

I click and hold the icon for mediainfo in launchpad, it wiggles, I press x to delete it form party launchpad and its applications in the finder.

But there must be somewhere because he is always right click on the menu 'Open with' and it actually load the program if you choose somehow even if it isn't the disk hard mac! ?.

I did a search and don't see you mediainfo application anywhere on the disc hard mac.

I have a copy of super duper of my HDD on an external hard drive that probably the application it but can it really be getting the external application and adding it to "open with" menu and launch the application from the external hard drive? If yes then this is not cool...

I also noticed right on a PDF right-click, open with Watch 2 entrances of Safari 2 on iBooks, google chrome 2, all are an old version and one is a more recent version, where could he be getting from and the addition in the menu "open with?"

If it is picking up my applications folder on the external drive backup and using that in the open with menu and launch the application from the external backup then it is really bad, it should only be launched from applications to disk hard mac shouldn't it?

    Any ideas?

  • Open with... Disorders of context Menu! Any Solution?

    Hi all

When I right click, then 'open with', I get a slew of different applications, some of which are not yet in my Applications! Even after the use of the common terminal fix for duplicates, this problem is back yet. Does anyone know if there is a way to change or limit where the context menu is for applications? I think that it is the search for my backups and legacy applications on my server storage for these applications because they are not in my Applications folder.

    Thanks for the solution!

Although the problem is not the same, please follow the instructions in this article to support to reset the launch Services database. Instead of typing the shell command in the article, I suggest that you copy and paste the web page in the Terminal window. Make sure you only select the entire line. One way to do that is triple - click anywhere in the line.

If you do not already have a current backup, back up all data before proceeding. You should perhaps log out or restart to see a change.

    Thank you!

Problem solved by a person post in the Forums of Vista, that what he said in this thread (Thread link: http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/202928-open-choose-default-program-error-vista-2.html#post939031 ):

    "PROBLEM SOLVED!"
    HOO HOO!

I want to thank you once again BRINK for ideas on how to solve this problem.
The next step below, this is how I solved this annoying problem:

First of all, I came across this article on the Microsoft Web site by changing my google search to solve the problem. I started the google search with the following:

'open with' lack of context menu

Who brought results with the first being a microsoft link:

Command 'Open with' missing from the context Menu

Now the article didn't tell me exactly how to solve this problem, but it gave me an idea.
He said look at the following reg key:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Unknown\shell\openas\command

And he said to watch the following default value:

    C:\%windir%\rundll32.exe shell32.dll, OpenAs_RunDLL %1

After that, I noticed that the value was different, but then I noticed in watching the article says that this applies to Windows 95 and 98.
I then looked at the same key on my laptop that is running Vista Ultimate 32 bit also and I noticed there are subfolders on my laptop that my office did not have.
It should look like the following:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Unknown
    \DefaultIcon
    \+Shell
    \+openas
    \COMMAND
    \+opendlg
    \COMMAND

My office was only the DefaultIcon folder.
Well I just copied the key from my laptop and voila... it worked.
I thank the gods of the computer. This has really been bugging me. I know that some people would have just reconfigured or installed a new but I knew it was an easy fix. I thought it was a reg key or windows dll file, but I just need to find the location where he resided in. Luckily I came across this article which pointed me in the right direction. Now I feel like I accomplished something.

Sorry if this is a bit long but I HATE it when I'm looking for answers in the forums and I see someone say they have solved their problem, but they either don't say anything about how they fixed or that they are so vague that they could didn't say anything.
I hope this helps others if they have this problem.

Thank you once again on BOARD! "

    That's all!
