Opening a tile without it go to the desktop

I had update my tablet when it does not support the new Windows 8.1 update.  Since then, when I click on a tile, it opens on the desktop.  Before the update, the tile would be automatically opened, which was easier to use, including hitting swipe to go from site to site, without going through the arrow to the left, or by clicking on the tab.  How I put it so they do not automatically open on the desktop?

Hi stephanie,.

I found it!  Under networks & there was a checkbox for open internet files explorer in the desktop.  I décliqués it and now I can open the tiles directly from the start screen.  Thank you very much for your help.

I have been using InDesign for many years. Last week I suddenly discovered that I couldn't open a document by double-clicking on the desktop or wherever it was. Instead, now I have to find the document in the folder it's in, click on it once, and then click file in the bar at the top of the screen, go to open, then it will be open. Any ideas why this happened all of a sudden? In addition, in the bar on the top of a document, I can no longer change the Essentials to advanced or others. Seems to have everything that happened at the same time. Help appreciated please.

First of all: this has nothing to do with InDesign, it has to do with your OS, so second: what operating system? Windows or Mac because to solve this problem, we need to know which. It's your operating system which has lost the connection with your program and document files.

  • USB key which does not except if formatted - cannot open any files without formatting (essentially removing) the first

When you insert a USB key that I've used with my laptop, I wonder to format. However, I do not remember what are the files on the disk and therefore not hesitate to format it without checking what's out there first. I can't open the drive at all unless I format it, so is there a way to bypass the formatting or another way, I can see what are the files on the disk? I also tried to open the drive on other PC and the same thing happens. Help?

Hi the Turkey - hey it's your name!

If ya... Here's the thing... When you are prompted to format a drive and he can't read the files on the disk that are caused because the OS is unable to understand the content of the disc. This indicates that the disc is damaged and unreadable. It can also happen on a new disc that has not been shaped. So in summary, the files may be already missing...

When was the last time that this player was available? What format they were initially?

It is not really a way to get around this if the drive is in an unrecognized disc format, but format the drive in general. Hope this helps,

  • Win 7 Firefox 3.6.13, new tab does not open when you click on it, on the desktop or laptop computer.

I can not open a new tab in Firefox 3.6.13, running Windows 7. It does work on my desktop or my laptop. When I click on the '+' to add a tab, or right-click on it and choose 'New tab', nothing happens.

"AskToolbar" extension is causing the problem. You can disable it in tools, modules, Extensions and restart Firefox.

  • Whenever I try to open a PDF from a shortcut on the desktop, it uses ALWAYS Picasa to open

As soon as these days, I try to open a PDF Office always now use Picasa Editor as default, thus having the element 'displayed' in this program and a 'invalid element '. How can I do to make Adobe Reader the default program to open these files.

This was not always the case. It just started about six months ago.

    Help!

    Thanks in advance!

Whith the informationyou provide little, it seems to me like a file association problem. The exact solution depends on your OS, but in general you should select the icon of one of your PDF. find the info, indicating what proghram you want to use for creation and choose th apply the change to all files of the same type.

On the one hand, you cannot uninstall Safari.  It comes as part of the operating system.  So, I don't know what you've done or what you think you did, but this is not that.  Could you explain more by what you mean with "I get reimage opening in a new window?  You can post a screenshot of what happens?

    Hi hound3101,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

    a. you are able to install some other updates?
    b. do you receive error messages when you start Microsoft Office Outlook?

If you have a problem only in the Office Update installation, then I suggest you to report your problem in the Office Discussion groups. If not, try download office update from the link below and install it in clean boot mode.

Link to the Group Discussion Board: http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/FlyoutOverview.mspx

To enter the mode of clean boot of your computer, follow these steps.
    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    2. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    3. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    5. click on OK.
    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.
    7. after starting the computer, install the update.

    Hope this information is useful.

    Hi Haubhaus,

I know one thing to get your links to always open in a new window:
    1. Right-click on your desktop, select new, then shortcut
    2. Type "" C:\Program may Explorer\IEXPLORE. "." EXE" and click Next
    3. Name the shortcut (for example: Microsoft Home) and click Finish
    4. Right-click on the new shortcut and select Properties
    5. In the target box, arrow over until the end of the path, add a space and add -new (WEBSITEPATH). When your finished, your path should look like this:
      "" C:\Program may Explorer\IEXPLORE. "." "EXE" - new www.microsoft.com
    6. Click OK and try it!
Let me know if it works or if I can be of further assistance!

  • Only in the last days, Windows will ONLY open in Mode without failure. I don't know why?

Only in the last days, Windows will ONLY open in Mode without failure. (I have made some changes myself)

I tried everything I knew how to do, without success.

    It must be clarified...

Which of the following statements apply to your problem:

1 when you started the computer you tried to log in normal mode, it wouldn't, and you needed to go to safemode manually in order to identify you.
If so, was there an error message?

    2. When you start the computer, it went automatically in safe mode.
    If so, try this...

Login in safe mode > start button > in the search box, type msconfig > Enter > at the top, click on start > make sure that there is NO check mark in front of Safe Boot > make sure that there is NO check mark anywhere in this window > click OK when finished.
