opening files - list of missing folder

When I open a file in the finder, I see all of my folders I expect.  However, if I am in another program and need to open a file - my problem has today been squarespace and photoshop - my folders/favorites are not in the sidebar as they would usually, so I can't access the files I need.  Does anyone know what I need to do?  Help would be very appreciated.

In fact, I started my answer about it.   It is after all in Favorites (aka links).   So why not have Recent there too?  And why is not new just a hidden directory, but that you have to change your point of view to see?   ;  ]

  • Can I perform an action on all open files?

I'm converting some of my images in grayscale with action. The images are divided in hundreds of cases, and only some of the images need to be converted. I want to be able to look at the picture to make sure, it must be converted (or not, if applicable). So I find myself with, for a given folder, maybe 20 open pictures.

Then I run the action manually on each image that is always open.

QUESTION: is there a way to select "perform the action on open images.

I know that I could do it in batch by moving all the files in a new folder, but whenever I try to re - learn how to batch (I only use for every year or two batch), an hour later I'm always read the help manual and nothing has been accomplished. Thus, an action , there must be, or manually.

  • Missing icons on the open file dialogue box

I am running Windows 7 Professional (64 bit).  All updates applied.

Problem: When you use the dialog box open file - some file/folder icons are missing.  Not that big of a deal, but introduce that dialog open file in an application they may crash.  I think this may be the cause.

Details: When I use Windows Explorer, everything seems as it should be in the Navigation pane.  For example, I see Favorites and Desktop under Favorites.  The desktop icon is correct.  Everything is as it should be.  If I open Wordpad, and then select file open, the dialog box is, once again, as it should.  All the icons displayed.  However, if I open Word 2007 and select the open file, there is a strange icon for the office and most of the other items under Favorites, some of my libraries display one appropriate icon, others do not.  In the right pane (where the files are listed), there are no icons for files at all, they are simply empty.  I can select the files, then open them, everything works, just no icons.  It is not only the Microsoft Office applications that illustrate this.  If I open the VLC media player, select media, open a file.  I have the same thing (missing icons).

I could live with that, but it seems to cause some applications (applications specifically Flash) to hang when I try to open the files.  For example, if I try to upload a photo to Snapfish.com using the Flash application, it crashes every time than IE when the open file dialog box opens.  Exactly the same happens using the Chrome browser.  Everything works fine as long as I do not open the open file dialog box.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Jonathan

    Hello Jonathan Moeller.

There are a few additional troubleshooting steps that we could proceed to isolate or fix this problem.  Just to inform you beforehand, if in fact it is malicious viral content on your system or base operating system files are potentially corrupt. I might suggest a repair installation.  This would be the last option or suggestion.

-Open the prompt (run as administrator) and type SFC/scannow

-Create an another user account (Admin) and check if in fact you are still having this problem

-Turn your computer into a cleanboot scenerio to isolate if a 3rd party service is potentially the first cause of this issue.  Here are the steps...

Step 1: Open the System Configuration utility

    ClickStart

type msconfig in theSearch box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

Step 2: Configure selective startup options

    1. in theSystem Configuration utility dialog box, click Selective startup on thegeneral tab.

2 clear theLoad Startup items check box.

Note The check boxuse the Boot file is not available.

    3. click on theServices tab.

    4. Click to select thehide all Microsoft Services check box.

    5. click ondisable alland then click OK.

    6. When you are prompted, clickrestart.

-In addition, please try to rebuild the indexing function.  Here are the steps...

    1. go into the Control Panel.

2 display All the items from Control Panel by changing the parameter display by in the upper right corner of thelarge icons or small iconscategory.

    3. Select Indexing Options.

    4. click on the Advanced button.

    5. when the UAC prompt appears, click continue.

    6. in the Troubleshooting section, click on the button to rebuild

-In addition, each local user account have their Iconcache.db file or database is located at c:\users\Username\appdata\local\iconcache.db.  Please remove this file.  However, it is preferable that you simply follow the steps below.  Everything must be simple to follow.

Re-create the file icon-Cache by deleting

    1. Each user has its own file named Iconcache.db: USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Iconcache.db
    2. Close all the explorer.exe process using the Task Manager (or else it will create a bad file during the closing session/restart)... Go to the processes tab and locate explorer.exe and right-click on it and select end process tree tree/end of tasks
    3. Use the Task Manager (CTRL + SHIFT + ESC) to launch the explorer.exe again... Once you open the Task Manager, click file, new task.  type 'explorer.exe '... All of your icons should reappear with the taskbar.  You may need to shut down or restart your computer.  Please check if you are able to see your icons with success.

If you please follow on this thread at the earliest, I would be very happy.  I look forward to hear from you.  Have a great day.

    Thank you

  • Creating a list of missing files in the Organizer?

It's too bad the dialogue box ' reconnecting missing files ' may list missing files in a small window, but there is no option to export the list of full paths as a text file.

Knowing that the list is saved somewhere (probably in the catalog folder), I looked if I could find how information about the missing files are stored in the Organizer. Natural candidates such as the catalog.psexxdb and thumbs.5.cache sqlite databases showed no what, whether by proving that they stored the information.

Then, I had a look at the thumbs.5.cache, which is interesting. It shows that two sizes of thumbnails are stored, and that the criteria for matching are taken so far and the file size.

Now, I compared an optimized version of this file by a reconstituted (I deleted the cache file).

Interestingly, you can see what media_id still have match criteria. I conclude that the other media_id are missing files...

If Photodrawken is looking at this post:

Could you check this assumption and see if a sqlite query can retrieve the list of missing media?

It will be interesting to see if the next version of PSE has better handling of missing files... Seems that LR handles this problem much better.

    Edit:

The field 'status' in the thumbnail_info_table of the thumbs.5.cache database seems to be set to '2' for the missing files.

    Here we go, using Database.Net:

    1. Connect to thumb.5.cache.
    2. Right-click on thumbnail_info_table and select "Script as...". Create '.
    3. Use the Edit tool... Save as to save it in any convenient directory as
      thumbnail_info_table_create. SQL
    4. Right click on thumbnail_info_table and select "Script as...". Data (Inserts)... File, save on this same practice directory as
      thumbnail_info_table_data. SQL
(In the Export Options dialog box, simply click on 'OK'.)
    5. Disconnect from thumb.5.cache.
    6. Close all open applications.
    7. Connect to catalog.pse10db.
    8. Use the Edit tool... Open and that
      thumbnail_info_table_create. SQL
      file.
    9. This query will open in a new query window - click the 'run '.
    10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 to the
      thumbnail_info_table_data. SQL
      file.
    11. Click on the button "New query" and paste this query into the editing window:

    SELECT full_filepath

    OF media_table

    WHERE id IN)

    SELECT media_id

    OF thumbnail_info_table

    WHEN STATUS = '2 '.

    )

    ORDER BY full_filepath

    12. click on the button 'run '.

You can click on the "export" button to save the results to a file in the format of your choice.  Here, I used the option "HTML":

  • Cannot open files of Pages saved in my folder to iCloud

If I create a page file on my iMac and save it in my iCloud account, I can't open it from there if I need to access it again. The only way I can open it is by connecting to iCloud and opening it from this location. Can someone please let me know if this process is correct, or do I have to change a setting somewhere for me to open my files from the folder local iCloud on my iMac. I have no problems at the opening of MS Word documents. Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Ken

Start Pages and when the open file picker appears, click on the entry reader favorite iCloud and then navigate to the document, either in the folder of your Pages, or another folder. Click it, and then select open.

If this does not work, search for the document in the Finder and then while pressing the option key held down, drag the file to your desktop. Double-click to open pages.

I hope that you are not in a surprise but a MacBook Air not backup to iCloud. It can record data in iCloud drive (if you saved it specifically to this place) and can synchronize Photos, Contacts, etc to iCloud if you had set it to do. You can use any computer and connect to https://www.icloud.com/ to see what is stored. I hope this is good news and that it contains what you hope.

    Hello

The Hiberfil.sys hidden system file is located in the folder root of the drive where the operating system is installed. The Windows Kernel Power Manager reserves this file when you install Windows. The size of this file is approximately equal to the amount of memory (RAM) is installed on the computer.
