OpenManage 7.4.0 do not pick up disk failure or removal until you restart

Hello
I've been rebuild a Dell T310 customers with new 4 x 450 GB SAS Raid 10, using his H200 raid card and that you have installed Windows HyperV 2012R2.

All software packages, drivers, and software have been installed and updated, and I began to test my OMSA DellAlert.ps1 script for notification by e-mail.

I decided to get one of the 4 drives to test the notification, but OMSA has not detected any withdrawal from disk! Very disturbing! I left that he unplugged for 9 hours and always OMSA showed 4 discs online. Even refreshing the OMSA browser, or closing and reopening the browser has not changed anything. Only when I reboot the server it then shows a disc had been removed and my script notified E-mail me this.

I pushed the disc in and again 3 hours later OMSA has yet to show that nothing has changed. Discs 3 and 4 activity watch as they rebuild but if OMSA is not displayed any changes how I'm destined to receive alerts to show when a disk has failed and raid has deteriorated.

I can't put this server back in my client until this issue is resolved. Has anyone seen or had this problem before? Any help would be grateful. I guess my next step will be decommissioning OMSA and firmware etc or reconstitution with 2012 HyperV server test.

Update 1 - if I stop and restart the Server Administrator service and DSM SA Data Manager then the notification comes through and loggin in the OMSA shows the missing disk.
The LCD on the server changes to orange as soon as the disk is pulled so the underlying hardware seems to work ok, it just seems to be the OMSA 7.4.0 2012R2 HyperV software.

Update 2 - I've upgraded OMSA to 7.4.0.1 and nothing has changed. I noticed that the show OMSA Embedded System Management (ESM) logs MAKE a disk has been deleted or inserted, but the section alerts and all other areas of the OMSA show no changes until the services are restarted or rebooted Server!

Fix possible update 3 - I reinstalled a copy eval 2012R2 with a graphical interface to see if that fixed it but it was always the same questions. My only solution seems to be 7.4.0 uninstall and install OMSA 7.3.0. I now put my HyperV 2012R2 system on and confirm that the 7.3.0 works as well for her.

Thank you

Thanks for the update and all the information.

Our engineering has checked this issue. 7.4 OMSA does not properly report status on the H200 and SAS 6/ir changes. This affects programs such as OpenManage Essentials and OpenManage for VMware Vcenter integration using OMSA to monitor servers.

A fix is planned with OMSA 7.4.0.2

Thank you

  • Windows xp sp3 does not start after the failure of windows update and restart.

    Hello

    My ADVENT 3217 pc runs windows xp sp3 does not start once a windows recently failed update and restarted. He's just in a reboot loop. The first time it happened I got an error code of c000021a. I tried pressing F8 and try to start safe mode and other options... but still nothing. I also tried to use my restore disc supplied with my pc. So far, I've only tried the non-destructive recovery to restore windows and it did not work. I don't want to lose my files that I have not saved for quite awhile.

    Hello

    · The updates you have installed prior to this problem?

    You can try the steps listed in the link below: how to solve an error "STOP 0xC000021A": http://support.microsoft.com/kb/156669

  • Check the disk does not start if he had to run when you restart the computer.

    I selected automatically fix system errors file and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
    I was prompted to reschedule the disk check for the next time you restart your computer.

    However, when I rebooted my computer, nothing happened. No disk check has been performed. I tried tha procedure above a couple of times without success.

    Someone please help I was able to do this before, but can't do the job now?  Thank you.

    ACHOIWONG,
    Well, it's system files to discover good good news.  Is probably why chkdsk does not work due to not having permission start upward.  Try to run it from an elevated command prompt:
    Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
    Right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click Run as administrator.
    If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
    At the command prompt, type chkdsk c:/r

    Try and let us know if it works.

  • Windows does not start (possible disk failure HARD?) - Windows 7 64 bit.

    Hello. My computer won't start. It leads to the 'Starting Windows' screen, then briefly (VERY briefly) flashes a BSOD and reboot to the Startup Repair.

    I had several errors on my laptop which has eventually lead me to the current situation. I'll start from the beginning just after the specifications of the system, maybe they are connected somehow, or they can help you in some way:

    Plug my computer is the following:

    ACER aspire 5738ZG
    -Pentium Dual-Core 2.4 Ghz
    -4 GB of RAM
    -AMD Radeon 5xxx mobility, 512 VRAM
    -Drive Hitachi 500 GB SATA 5400 RPM
    -Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

    The first problem I had was a random BSOD who would leap upward with a certain frequency. I solved by going into safe mode, Device Manager and disable a card Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport that I don't remember being there before, and that makes not sense to me (I guess some program like a VM can be installed).

    Second problem were random camera that has begun to occur just after I got rid of the BSOD. I experienced the almost all the time (just after awakening upward, while surfing the internet, games, etc.), but I noticed that it was more frequently when using a game with a kind of communication (like Skype) running program and active on the background, or loading videos. I ran a chkdsk and a memtest, and both gave me good results. These problems I was not able to solve, but I went from more games (like WoW) system-oriented to the less demanding (the binding of Isaac, Dwarf Fortress), which blocks exactly 0 produced despite being a bit much CPU.

    I thought that it would be a heat problem, last week I went instead of a boyfriend and it opens. There was neither significant accumulation of dust, and no missed connections between the motherboard and the rest of the components, and I played for a week without a bump. Something of note, however, there was a brown spot on the label on the drive and under the keyboard, which my friend called "have you you spill coffee on the thing?", but I guess it's a day he just got hot. Don't know if it's of any help.

    Finally, I woke up this morning to find out it was going really, very, very slow, and that my HDD light was on almost all the time. I booted safe mode - it seemed to have locked up on the start when starting on normal screen. And after a while of loading and showing me a light permanently on HDD, it gave me an i/o error (could not take the screenshot before it restarts). I also noticed the icon on the status bar would not connect when I woke up, I won't be too paranoid, but in my opinion, could help the network connections.

    Memtest was clean. I did a chkdsk and it started to detect errors in index (something like "Error Index $021 program xxxx", don't remember the exact number), but had to go to work before it's over. When I got home, it comes to the start of repair screen telling me that Windows was not able to automatically fix errors. The next thing I know, I can't start my computer. I tried Chkdsk from Startup Repair tool CMD prompt, and it will immediately (as in, right this second) display the contents of the drive hard (with no "bad sectors"), but will not fix anything. Moreover, when I switch on the C:\ drive, it just shows empty. Memcheck to the boot and Memtest show RAM is clean.

    So in short, the cause could be a faulty HARD drive? I'm pretty sure it must be something related to her or to the connector block, or, worse, my motherboard is upward (which I really, REALLY whish is not).

    Any help will be less appreciated.

    SATA drives have always seemed to generate more heat than the old ones IDE and your CPU can become quite hot when he's busy too.  You do not have permanent damage normally until you get to about 70, so I would be fairly optimistic about the replacement of the HD unless conditions were very extreme.  Don't forget that if you rebuild your system with a retail DVD of Windows 7, you will probably need download drivers at Acer for things like chipset, video and sound.

    Good luck.

    I have to restart and restart Windows 7 to be able to use my keyboard model M IBM under Windows 7. Windows starts perfectly fine, except for the fact that I can't type. It works very well with my BIOS, the GNU GRUB and Ubuntu after a cold start. Someone knows what's the problem?

    Thanks for the reply.

    Because the keyboard is very old, I doubt that there could be a problem with the drivers.

    I suggest to update the drivers for the keyboard and check.

  • Windows 7 slow until you restart - restart does not solve the problem

    We have two windows 7 PC, both with Visual Studio development and not much more and both of these PC regularly go slowly - and I mean really slow down - so that VS takes anything up to 10 minutes to load. Other programs loading is too slow (for example, performance monitor take about the same to load). It makes no difference if I restart the PC, but is cured if I turned off and reboot the PC (which means safe mode will work fine, as I have to shut down the PC to do this).

    That happened during the last 6 months or so (don't know exactly if cannot go back and see what has been installed or updated) and becomes a pain, especially on the weekend when there no one in the Office for the power of the PC if I remotely close.

    The fact that it does not cure the problem, but did a restart and goes on two PC, means that there is a common element on each PC that is not reset by restarting, or that is external to the PCs but is reset when turned off (for example, a physical network connection).

    The problem is that I don't know where to begin to fix this - I tried to disable things, but this makes no difference - and some ideas of what it could be, or a way to identify where the problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attack.

  • ApplicationIndicator does not work until you restart the phone

    I have a big problem with ApplicationIndicator. It does not work if I install my application for the first time... but after the phone reboot it works.

    This is my code:

        private int counter = 0;

            indicator = ApplicationIndicatorRegistry.getInstance().register(icon, false, true);
        }

        public static Indicator getInstance() {
            if (instance == null)
                instance =  new Indicator();
            return instance;
        }

        public void notify() {
            counter++;
            indicator.set(icon, counter);
            indicator.setVisible(true);
        }

        public void resetIconIndicator() {
            indicator.setVisible(false);
            counter = 0;
        }
    }

    Solved.

    "The solution is"simple": the init code was originally of 'main' method '.

    Is now just before the enterEventDispatcher().

    I don't know why (init called too early in the life cycle of app?).. .but now it works.

    Hello

    • When you receive this error message?
    • What were the changes made before the issue started?

    Try the SFC scan on the computer.

    SFC/scannow is a very useful command that you can use in any version of Windows. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the/scannow switch, the tool analyzes all the important files of Windows on your computer and replace if necessary.

    Missing and the corruption of the operating system (like many DLLs) files are probably the main cause of the major problems of Windows. In view of this, plus the fact that the SFC/scannow is completely automatic and very easy to use, the tool should be usually one of your top not troubleshooting.

    Hi MightyMiro_WD:

    Just to say the good news before the explanations below. Your method worked partially. :-)

    I followed your instructions as below:

    1. I go to control panel-> device-> Universal Serial Bus controllers Manager and uncheck the "allow this computer to turn off this device' for everything USB with this option: Hub USB root, Generic USB Hub, USB Hub 2.0 MTT and etc.

    2 insert the disc WD Passport to my PC. PC cannot detect. Then I insert USB so that my WD Passport always connected. The PC is able to detect the key USB and WD Passport.

    3 eject my USB. My WD Passport must always be able to be detected by the PC, even I Plug and unplug several times.

    4 remove my WD Passport and connect to another USB port. PC cannot detect. Insert my USB then my WD Passport always connected. The PC is able to detect the key USB and WD Passport.

    5 eject my USB. My WD Passport must always be able to be detected by the PC, even I Plug and unplug several times.

    6 now I plug/unplug my WD Passport to one of the 2 USB ports without my USB connected.

    I then in Power Options in Control Panel to change "USB selective suspend settings" to "disabled". The "turn off hard disk after" has already been fixed forever. Made the start of the procedure from step 2. And behavior are the same from step 2 to step 6.

    I restarted my PC, just in case the changes I did for Device Manager settings to take effect. BLUE SCREEN came out so that the closing of my PC. Do not remember the exact error message. After you restart, done at the beginning of the procedure from step 2. And behavior are the same from step 2 to step 6.

    Then I restored the changes to 'allow this computer to turn off this device' for all USB items except USB root hub. Just to see if a single USB root hub has been changed, it gives the same result. I also restored the "settings USB selective suspend" "Enabled". I restarted the PC after that. BLUE SCREEN again. Do not remember the exact error message. After you restart, done at the beginning of the procedure from step 2. And behavior are the same from step 2 to step 6.

    At this point, I wasn't looking to cancel all changes back to the original and do like to see if it still works as it is.

    Conclusion, your method worked partially. I don't know why the WD Passport cannot trigger the PC to recognize by itself for the first time after restarting the PC. It needs USB key to accompany. But I'm happy now. At least I do not need to restart my PC now. :-)

    Thank you.

    Kind regards
