Operating system not found. Help, please!

I used a recovery disk for the factory restore my vgcjs210j office. Now when I turn on my computer, I get the operating system not found. My hard drive is listed, but I can't restore the default settings. Help, please.

Hi Cjenkins1989,

It is possible that the partition that contains your recovery is corrupt. Error message after you use the recovery disk or have you been able to use the computer without a problem before the error message?

    Hello;

    Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

    According to the page of the product HP for your PC, it came not with preinstalled Win10.  THIS means that you have done the upgrade to Win10.

    While Microsoft says there is no risk in the upgrade of Win10, because they allow you to believe that you can always return to your BONES and the original installation program within 30 days, the ugly fact of the matter is that the Win10 GoBack feature turned out to be unreliable - and when she fails, she can let machines in a State corrupted - that does not always happen , but it happens often enough to be a problem and you will get no warning beforehand that he goes to the trash your PC!

    If this is not enough, the Win10 upgrade is known, in some cases, corrupt partition recovery stored by the OEM that built the original machine. It's pretty much guarantee that no HP recovery will work.

    The problem you mentioned is usually due to one of two basic problems:
    (1) defective hard drive
    (2) damaged/missing bootloader files

    As to the first, please follow the instructions in this link to test your hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024

    If that confirms that your drive has failed, then you will need to replace it.  Please report back if this is the case.

    As for the second, you need access to a PC for this phase of work in order to create the necessary support to fix your PC boot loader.

    Once you have that, please download and create the Win10 installation media from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10

    Note that when you download and build install media, the default tool corresponding to what is already installed on your PC (as in home for the House, and 64-bit to 64 - bit).  While you CAN change these settings, are NOT. If you do, the media that results will be different and will force you to enter a NEW product code.

    Boot from the media that you have created and follow the instructions in this link: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanced-startup-options-boot-windows-10-a.html

    You will need to go to the Advanced Options screen and click on startup repair.  You will probably need to run Startup Repair three times for him to fix all the boot loader.

    Once completed, your PC should start OK.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A100: operating system not found - error PXE - E61

    After turning on the machine (A100) the following text is displayed:

    Intel boot Agent FE v4.1.18

    PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
    PXE - MOF: boot agent intel coming out
    operating system not found

    I can do or do I have to take it to the dealer for repair? Help, please.

    Hello

    I guess that something with your HARD drive is not really OK. An error message is displayed when the system is unable to boot from the CD/DVD-ROM or HARD disk.

    You have to imagine a sequence (called 'boot-sequence') where all devices that are bootable (such as disk, floppy, CD-ROM, NETWORK drive) are "checked" if some boot media or the program is present. Sequentially, the BIOS attempts to load the next available boot media.

    In the case of no current boot media, the system tries to finally boot from the network that doesn't work not because you´re not connected to a corporate network that has sometimes things network bootable... :)

    So, I suggest you to first check your BIOS (by pressing ESC, then F2) and check the "Boot sequence" if something has changed. Check if the HARD drive is located on the first entry, otherwise set it up. If so, then send your machine a partner / reseller/service because your machine then has a really serious problem.

    Greetings

  • Satellite C660 - 10 d Operating System not found PXE - E61: Media test failure

    I have a Satellite C660 - 10 d, which is part of the 1 year warranty which has suddenly decided it won't start and makes a strange noise that sounds mechanical.

    I tried the options F2 & F11 at startup, but I always return to the same messages some options I try:

    Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller v1.23 (28/07/10)
    PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of
    PXE - M0F: Exit PXE ROM
    Operating system not found.

    I can't go beyond that and get the laptop doesn't work, which leads to my second problem.

    It is under warranty so I thought I would sign in for repair. The serial number is recognized in the section Product Support My. But when I try to enter in the repair section, it is said

    ERROR: serial not valid number.
    Please check and try again.
    Then gives a number to call which only works weekdays.

    So, I have what appears to be a broken laptop that I can currently connect to repair.
    If you are able to help with one of these problems, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

    I'm quite sure that the problem is related to the defective HARD drive.
    This would also explain the mechanical noise when starting.

    PXE - E61: Media test failure appears as the laptop attempts to boot from LAN.
    Why? Because the disk HARD could not be found and the CD/DVD drive does not contain a startup disk.

    So the BIOS switched to LAN

    This is why replacement of HARD drive should help you with this problem.
    If the warranty is valid, get in touch with a local ASP in your country. Maybe you could get a HARD disk which could be replaced easily

    Asif_Ahmed_Joy

    Hello;

    Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

    I read your post about the operating system not found since the Win10 Upgrade failed and tried to help.

    One of the things that happened during the upgrade:

    (1) it mostly completed but failed in the writing of the new boot loader files

    (2) it failed early in the upgrade, screw up your PC as well

    Allows to process 1) first - by recreating the bootloader files.

    You need access to a PC for this phase of work in order to create the necessary support to fix your PC boot loader.

    If this does not work, then we are on option 2) - which is not good news.

    What will work restores your computer to its original factory state using HP recovery media.

    It is a set of DVD and a CD or a USB key, which will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

    You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

    Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

    Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

    If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

  • Re: Satellite U400: operating system not found then the installation of the OS

    I have a toshiba satellite u400 with is come with VISTA.

    Because I don't like VISTA, I then installed WINDOWS XP with a multi boot.

    Everything worked well. But one day I want to resize my partitions I used Paragon partition manager.
    This product is required to operate only to resize my xp partition, so he asks me a start.

    And then nothing works.

    I try to fix my problem with a fresh install, but it seems that the boot sector was not correct.
    Then I completely format my hard disk on another computer with a USB CABLE.

    When I try to install VISTA, XP or LINUX on a CD or DVD, I ask the multiboot with F12
    I chose to boot from the CD/DVD built-in, but I get only "OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND',

    It's as if the BIOS test the HARD to FIND something specific, and it does not find.
    When my PC worked correctly I could boot from the drive to dvd without problem.

    I called the SUPPORT CENTER of about 10 days, but I have no answer.

    So if someone could help me.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND message appears generally if the laptop has attempted to boot from the HARD drive and didn t find the operating system.

    But I put t understand why you formatted the HARD drive using the USB cable?

    Please insert HARD drive in the Bay of laptops HARD drive and check if the HARD drive is recognized in the BIOS!
    If the HARD drive has been recognised so I recommend you to take a disk Win XP Home and at the start of this disc.

    As I m not wrong not you will need to first install the SATA drivers to recognize the HARD drive.
    The fact is that the laptop supports the SATA controller and SATA drivers are needed to get the HARD drive recognized by Win XP.

    Well, after you have booted from the Win XP disc you need to format the new HDD by using the NTFS file format and should then follow with the installation of the OS.

    Check it out

    Hi I was wondering if someone can help me that don't know who is wrong. When I turn on my laptop I get ablack screen with the message "The operating system not found" I have never had a disc of windows vista lap top came with it already installed. Also sometimes I have weird message comes as

    I have no idea what to do any help is greatly appricated. Thank you in advance.

    I think you have a faulty hard drive.  If you have not done a backup of your personal data, it will be lost.  You can test the drive by running the SMART of the BIOS test.  If you do not have the recovery media, you will need to buy from HP if it is still available.

  • Windows Vista has crashed, "the operating system not found" error, can I load Windows XP on a partition?

    I have an Acer Aspire 5516, with pre-installed Windows Vista. I didn't know that it did not come with a recovery disk UNTIL my system crashed! During a routine virus scan, I got a blue screen saying a major problem has been found and the system has been shut down. I followed the instructions to gracefully shut down my laptop. When I turned this back on after the "Acer" logo he went to a black screen with info on my computer and the last line States "not found operating system". That's when I discovered there was no recovery disc & it is integrated into the system. To access this system you we F8 to enter safe mode, then Alt F10 to access 'erecovery management system. Neither one of these functions operate! Still getting the black screen with "operating system" not found I have a Windows XP my laptop previous. What I was wondering is if I can load on my Acer, possibly on a partition, in order to be able to get into my laptop and save all of my files? I'm terrified of losing everything I have! Hello

    normally with an Acer you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the hidden recovery partition recovery, not F8, then this combo

    but you do not have an option to save your data, that

    in daily use acers normally have a system partition, a partition of data to save your data, etc. to and also this hidden partition recovery

    and read this on data recovery, too;

    Data recovery

    1. remove the hard drive and it slave in another computer

    2 buy or borrow a USB disk drive hard put in yout case then plug it into another computer and read the hard drive like this

    3. try Knoppix

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    BUT this method 3 depends on your hardware in the computer that failed

    read this information about method 3:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

    Download the Vista software from the link above.

    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1 in the boot order.

    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.

    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

I tried to use the Windows restore USB, nothing, so I tried to repair CD, he worked went to PC repair but said my score is not correct or my HARD drive is locked. Someone at - it something that can help?

    Start you the installation media or retrieve the stick and then follow to access Advanced Startup Options in Windows 8 or 10 to run the Startup Repair tool?  This error message do you have?  Please take a photo to fix reply or write verbatim.

    When you start the BIOS configuration via the "F2" Sony, the hard drive is detected under devices in the boot order or storage?  Place first in the boot order, trigger repair/installation media using the F12 key only.

    If the hard drive is not detected, see if you can reinstall it until it comes.  If she will not appear so you can try to connect to another PC to see if we can read enough to save files, or his test condition.  Then replace it with a SSD which is the best upgrade, we can give a PC - quick as lightning.

    If she appears to run the amount shown on the HD diagnosis extended CD scan to ascertain the condition of the hard drive.  Confirm with a full disk check run from the Startup Options kick command prompt.

    You are able to execute all other advanced boot Options: restoration of the system, or Reset after saving all files that are not backed up following rescue files when Windows does not start.

    If all else fails, see if you can run the recovery Vaio, or make a clean reinstall Windows 7

    Although there are major obstacles now to get the updates of Windows running after a reinstall.  You would be better if the PC meets the Spécifications 10 Windows to do a Clean install Windows 10 improvement before the expiration of the offer, using the Windows 7 product key after installation to activate.  These steps have been used by tens of thousands of consumers without a single complaint - it's the best possible installation of Windows, you can get.

  • Sony Vaio in operating system not found?

    I have a laptop Sony Vaio, model SVE14AJ16L number and I got a new drive hard since the hold had ceased to function. I didn't need all the files on the old drive, so I just jumped out. I installed the new drive, but then did not work the Assist button. I googled this and I couldn't find a solution. I need to install Vaio care, but cannot find the Vaio care for my model number. I needed to install Windows 8, but for some reason it wouldn't detect the DVD or USB. I made the USB drive bootable using rufus and I downloaded an ISO and intended to put the serial number on the bottom of my laptop. It looks like all that operating system not found. I can't go into the BIOS, because that's what the assist button, and it does not detect. The towers of DVD and USB activity led blinked his eyes, but nothing. I don't know what is happening. Even when I took out the hard drive and put in the DVD/USB, it seems still operating system not found. I can't find the model number on this site.

    TL; DR
    Installed a new drive, HELP does not, does not detect a bootable USB/DVD, appears only as an operating system not found. I made bootable USB/DVD and tested on other computers.

    Please help, thanks.

    Basically, I don't have your system to test, so I'm just guiding you the general procedures.

    First of all, FORGET the ASSIST button. To explain the question "why?" would take a lot of time and goals here is to install new windows in your new drive.

    Secondly, I highly recommend you have all the necessary drivers for your equipment before your proceed with the windows installation 8 or 8.1. I own VPCSB28GG and Windows 8.1, several functions DO not work properly as it does in Windows 7. So, unless you have a deep knowledge on the computer, do not go for windows 8.1 yet or at least try to install windows 8.1 on a different drive for a test run.

    Thirdly, I strongly recommend allows you to install Windows 7 USB stick / 8 / 8.1 since the DVD player is not a reliable source from USB. Microsoft also provides tools to help people installing Windows 7 / USB 8.x. Please google it.

    As the symptoms that you have described, I recommend the steps as follows:

    1. go in the BIOS / settings (by pressing F2 during POST) UEFI. Under start options, your system may use a different name, but in principle it is similar to this: '1 ST Boot Device' "2nd Boot Device" "3rd Boot Device"... and so on. The value '1 ST Boot Device' your desire, such as CD-ROM bootable media, DVD-ROM, external USB/HDD. In my case, it is an external device because I use USB boot Windows 7 / 8.x installation. The "2nd Boot Device" in the HARD drive internal value. Drive HARD internal is your disk newly installed (or current).

    2. run the windows installation wizard. During the installation of Windows, your computer may restart several times. However, AFTER THE FIRST USE, you must go to the BIOS / UEFI with once again. The value '1 ST Boot Device' internal HARD drive. If you forget this step, you will encounter a loop of Windows installation. So, I suggest to pay attention pls. After that Windows Setup is complete, you can install drivers for your system. Find it in Support to the Sony Web site. You will need to download the Windows 7 drivers for Windows 8 as Intel Management Engine, components Sony blah blah blah. Please keep in mind, Vaio Care cannot make you suggest.

    3. in the installation of Windows, you won't find your HARD drive to destination of installation. In this case, go to the BIOS / UEFI setting, replace your SATA AHCI by compatible IDE or SATA port configuration. You can later change back to AHCI AFTER installing your SATA driver.
