Satellite L855 cut 3 times due to overheating

Hi, me too I have concerns on my Toshiba L855 and total heat produced.

I bought a portable high spec that I use for intensive several software and browser sessions.

Tonight I got to 5 GB used of 8 GB, 15% of CPU, disk writing 25% average

The temperature got about 74 c.

I had the cell phone cut out 3 times in the week last due to overheating.

At the moment the integrity monitor Toshiba says Im to 68% CPU temp and 68% fan speed.

The heat generated is crazy, why don't you just give us the possibility of having the fan operating at 100% and take a little more heat.

Laptop is only 6 months and under warranty. My behavior and its use is now no different when I bought everything first.

Any advice?

> The generated heat is crazy, why don't you just give us the possibility of having the fan operating at 100% and take a little more heat.

I guess you don't know that you can control the CPU and cooling performance module.

This can be done in the power management settings:
[How to manage Windows 7 power management features | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD12017W0001R01.htm]

You should concentrate on the management of processor power and cooling method option

Furthermore s laptop temperature depends on the use of the laptop.
Performance heavy stress on the CPU and GPU, and this leads to more heat and high heat dissipation.

Finally and above all to ensure that your laptop is on the table and if sure there is enough free space to maintain the circulation of fresh air.
Don t use the laptop in bed, sofa or knees.

    Hi Forum,
I want to clean my Satellite Pro A40 carefully inside due to overheating problems.

Can someone provide me with a sort of manual how to open the SPA40 correctly resp. How to clean it.

I think that indoor air to blow a few tablets will not solve the problem, there is a lot of dirt and dust inside.

IWant to do myself, so please do not recommend you speak to a technical expert.

    Thanxx in advance...

    Hello

    > I want to do it myself, so please don't recommend me to contact a technical specialist.

In my own opinion, generally it s not a bad suggestion if some advises to contact a technician for laptop to a radiator cleaning because the dismantling of most of the computers mobile new generation is very delicate and not easy. Mostly one or the other has no experience and in this case, it is best contact an ASP to help him try to clean the laptop and probably damage parts.
If the warranty is valid such procedure will void the warranty

But don t worry buddy ;) I'll try to help you as much as I can
I have goggled a bit and found it nice [statement | http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA45/Satellite-A45-remove-hinges-1.htm] how to disassemble the Satellite A45.
The A45 is very similar to the A40 and so pictures of the laptop must be the same.

Step 4 (photo) and step 5 shows the dirty radiator and how to remove it.
You do not need to disassemble the laptop full but only the radiator at the bottom of the unit cover.

Notes; Always be careful and don't use force to remove anything ;) and you know everything you do are at your own risk

I hope I could help. Best regards and Merry Christmas ;)

  • Satellite A30 stops due to overheating

My Satellite A30 cutout due to overheating.
The cooling fans are free of dust.
    I put the Max-performance cooling.
Is there another reason of overheating?

    Hi David,

Everything that hinders the free movement of air across the processor HEAT SINK cooling will have the effect you describe. The problem is that dust can not be seen by looking at the fan grids because she has built up inside the unit. The easy way to remove it is to use a vacuum cleaner hose from the cleaner to the grids of aspiration air (using a piece of cloth to maximize suction). This should make the fans running at very high speed and can produce a WAD of debris inside the grids you'll need to choose carefully.

To be really complete, you need to remove the radiator cover (adjacent to the grids of aspiration and locked by two "torx" screws). With the cover removed, you will be able to see the heat sink itself fixed by four Phillips head screws (two on each side), delete them and remove the heat sink. Note that it will stick to the CPU because of thermal paste used during Assembly. DO NOT REMOVE THE DOUGH. Once the heatsink is removed, you will be able to see an accumulation of debris.

Reassembly is the reverse of the uninstall, but note sequence on the heat sink numbers, so that you can tighten the screws in the correct order.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A30, PC shutdown due to overheating of the CPU

My Satellite A30 has a new problem, the PC shuts down due to overheating.
Fans are set to Max Performance. The cooling fans are not blocked by dust.
I think that the CPU is overheating for some reason any.
Can someone explain what parameters can be modified to avoid this problem?
I also saw that the other Toshiba PC needed a BIOS upgrade, it will be necessary for the A30?

    Hello David

Your device is certainly full of dust and cannot be properly cooled. If I remember the unit has two vents on the lower part. The must be removed and cleaned properly.

Trust me on this machine, the dust is placed behind the fans and if you look they seems to be clean, but they are not. Contact the customer Service of your country partner. The cleaning procedure takes about 20-30 minutes. I can't imagine that it will be expensive.

    Good bye

  • Satellite L855 - 13G - cannot use the Webclaim service

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite L855 - 13G (PSKACE-04Y00CFR) in France last year, but this computer is already leading me in trouble!

The graphics makes noise, one of the USB port does not work, and now, without any change of software, the computer shuts off after displaying a blue screen with "KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR".
This blue screen just randomly (say about two or three times a day).

I would send this computer for repair, but now I find something very weird: Toshiba has done everything possible to hide L855 - 13G!

All first of all without result on the Web site:
    https://www.Google.co.UK/#q=%22l855+13g%22+site:Toshiba.com

Second, the model is not listed in the support Center:
    https://www.Toshiba.fr/innovation/generic/SUPPORT_PORTAL/
When I enter the serial number: no result. Also using the fields ' or is your product "model is not listed.

Third, and better, I can't access the service of warranty claim for a Toshiba product for this computer: when I'm on https://weblord.toshiba-tro.de/Webclaim/ and I fill the serial number, the computer is identified (Alleluia), I have a green check mark for the status of the guarantee and "your product is still in warranty period."

But then, I can't click next and mention "product not available: Unfortunately your product is currently not available" appears instead.

So... apparently Toshiba is is best to forget about the Toshiba Satellite L855 - 13 G, but for unlucky enough to have people buy a what are the next steps?

I would like to be contacted by someone from Toshiba to get an answer or a proposal to change my computer or at least fix it!

    Many thanks in advance,
    Best regards.

    > I would like to be contacted by someone from Toshiba to get an answer or a proposal to change my computer or at least fix it!

First of all, I want to provide you with information on this community.
This is a user to user community where you meant fans of Toshiba. You won't find any Toshiba here people

Now some details about the fix for laptop:
In case your laptop computer s hardware began to malfunction, you can contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country in order to fix hardware problems.
Here on this page of Toshiba ASP you can find all available worldwide FSA:
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/

Last but not least, he should know that the warranty only covers hardware problems.
If in case the laptop does not work due to some software problem, the warranty would not cover the cost. This is why I would recommend you to retrieve the computer laptop back to factory BEFORE you contact the ASP.

I hope this info helps a bit.

  • Satellite L855 - 10 p - stop suddenly, play 3D games

    Hello

When you try to play 3D games, after more or less playing time, often less than 10 minutes, my Satellite will suddenly stop. Subsequently, it cannot be started for some time.

This kind of symptom is usually due to overheating, a common problem with portable Satellite (and besides, it's probably the last Toshiba I buy because they can't seem to get that fixed).
The usual solution is to remove dust from the inside of the laptop, for example with a soft vacuum.

It is impossible to do correctly without opening (and voiding the warranty) because they do not have access to the fan and the heat sink, put can help from time to time.

On this model, however, the exhaust gas is block by a grid (part of the heatsink I guess, which is logical) and on consumption, the fan is blocked so he can't turn in the opposite direction, which means that it is almost impossible to s * ck dust. Result: almost impossible to remove the dust. Well played.

So normally I would send my laptop for 'repairs' (which opens just the thing to remove dust and maybe redo the thermal paste, but you can do that yourself of course), but in this case, I noticed it very quick stop.

I can leave it on a 2D game or old low-quality 3D games (supreme commander says mode low quality) for hours without problem, even in hot weather, but as soon as I try a newer version in the game (for example Resident Evil 6, even in low quality) it stop quickly and without feeling so hot.

So I was wondering if maybe that this time, it would be a problem with the driver/graphic card. Let's say something like an order than crash the graphics card.

I have an AMD Radeon HD 7670 M with the 8.932.5.3000 driver version (the only one available for this computer and Windows 7 64-bit on the Web from Toshiba site).

Is there a known problem that could cause the graphics card to plant or overheating more than expected with this model?

(If you're wondering why I don't write s * ck in full letter, it is because the filter of profanity on this forum don't think it's a word that can be used in a normal conversation.)

    > When you try to play 3D games, after more or less playing time, often less than 10 minutes, my Satellite will suddenly stop. Subsequently, it cannot be started for some time.

To me, it sounds like a GPU has worked at full capacity and produces a lot of heat, leading to high internal temperature.
To my eyes the air conditioner stops due to the high temperature.
The laptop supports a type of protective gear. The unit will stop automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

Dust and debris could be one of the reasons why the parties cannot be cooled properly.
    > This kind of symptom is usually due to overheating, a common problem with portable Satellite
This kind of symptom happens to all laptop computers worldwide because of the airflow.

    > I can leave it on a 2D game or old low-quality 3D games (supreme commander says mode low quality) for hours without problem, even in hot weather, but as soon as I try a newer version in the game (for example Resident Evil 6, even in low quality) it stop quickly and without feeling so hot

Games running on the low quality not stress the GPU a lot and this led to the dissipation low and low temperature.

    > Is there a known problem that could cause the graphics card to plant or overheating more than expected with this model?

I don t think so more often, these problems can be solved by changing the settings in the windows power options (decreases the performance CPU/GPU, cooling method change) and, of course, in the game settings (details down, etc.)

  • Satellite L855 - 12N - keyboard problem after upgrade to Windows 10

    Greetings friends,
the problem goes like this: I have a TOSHIBA satellite, L855-12N, Series notebook.

After updrading to win 10, some of my keys (a, n, enter) did not work initially.
If I wait for awhile, they start work later.
I find that I continue to press a button, (for example the button "a") for a long time, I see that he started to answer, then stop again and then answer - stop, until finally it works OK.
I tried to update the drivers, uninstall and then reinstall, but it doesn't seem to work.
Anyone know what's going on, or have any suggestions?
    Thank you.

    You are 100% it's a matter of Windows 10?
Looks more like a hardware problem, keyboard should replace.

Go into the BIOS and test the keyboard in there.
If it goes into the BIOS and then replace the keyboard.

If it's a software problem, try uninstalling the driver for the touchpad Control Panel, then reinstall it via Windows Update.

  • Satellite L855 - question about charging battery

    Hello!
I have the Satellite L855-188. I have a question. My rating is at home, almost everytime. So how do I load it? Can I use it when it is still connected to electricity? Or sometimes I have to disconnect?

In General, you can do whatever you want. For example, my laptop is connected to the power adapter, and I use it every day. What you can do is to use from time to time with battery power supply. Just extend the empty battery and reconnect it to the power running. Do it once a week.

    > Can I use, when it is still connected to electricity?
    Yes.
    > Or sometimes I have to disconnect?
In general you should not do, but you can do it from time to time.

  • Problem with my Toshiba Satellite L855 - 14 c

Hey there guys. Last time I have a problem. One day, I was going down. There was a water and I wanted my laptop. But I slipped and my phone fell from the stairs. I was really worried. So I hurry took to the top. Power on and BAM. It didn't load Windows 8.1 but he showed something like: "No. Bootable Device Found. Please restart".» First I have if it is hard disk problem... So I brough HDD to my uncle. He tested the HARD drive on the other computer says it HARD drive is OK. Then I tried to delete and insert HARD return drive but still no change... . I think my uncle is right... I even tried to UEFI Windows 8.1 installation disk USB Bootable. The installation program is loaded successfully. But it was blocking "the installation program begins" about 4 hours. So I turned it off... Then I tried the installer again. I googled for help with DISKPART. But it has same problem that when I open CMD Setup (SHIFT + F10) and Type /diskpart it shows just something like:
    Microsoft DiskPart version 6.3.9600
    Copyright (C) 1999-2013 Microsoft Corpation.

It does not appear DISKPART > more than 3 hours... (It MUST.)

So I don't know what to do. .

Please guys help me. I'm only 14 years old boy.

    My laptop is Toshiba Satellite L855 - 14 c

I think that HARD drive can have bad sectors, possibly in the region of boot sector.

Connect the HARD drive to another computer, run this utility to verify the SMART State and check the defective number of sectors/blocks.

  • Freeze on Satellite L855 - 11K

    Hello

I have a Satellite L855 - 11 k (PSKACE). The problem I have with the laptop is the continuous gap.

    Explain the examples:

A game that does not demand a lot of features, CS (counter strike 1.6 network) I can not play, because I play + 70 fps and suddenly when we turn the camera or move in one area, the fps drops to 0 and blow less than 1 s up to 70 frames per second. No internet problem, the same thing happens in offline mode.

Another example are the videos, like youtube for example, a video of 480 p to my laptop I need to move smoothly, but must then image frozen (the audio continues to play) and I can't see anything. After 1-2 seconds veulve himself. But it's very annoying. (The same thing happens to 320p, 720 p or 1080 p). With vlc, nothing on this, but as I see the video I can't do anything more.

I also noticed that with any program when you save a document, photo,..., it is more expensive than a laptop with less energy.

Additional information: I have windows 8 x 64 (with windows 7 x 64 is the same), and I added a 4 GB module, so I have 8 GB (1600 MHz) ram. All drivers download from the toshiba website [http://www.toshiba.es/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=ES]. I also noticed that when I copy something to port hard drive VIA USB 3.0 for a short period of 4-7 s high-speed 40MB / s, but falls to 1-3 MB / s.

And finally, in the windows Device Manager, I see the Blast graphic processor (intel grafics 3000HD) (seen intalled readers of the toshiba website).

Finally, I tried all modes of windows, balanced, economy, powerful... and activation and deactivation of the refrigeration system strategy.

I can serult all this time lag and freeze?

PS: I also noticed that the laptop FAN 30% does not increase, even if the pc is at 90 ° +!.

    Hello

The laptop supports the AMD Radeon HD M 7670.
Therefore, the hardware specifications are good enough to play games smoothly or watch videos full HD.

In your case I recommend that you check the version of the BIOS. Maybe there is a new version of BIOS that needs an update more trying to update ATI graphics card driver

Also I recommend that you check the HARD drive for a possible malfunction.
The freeware tool called disk HARD drive fitness test could be useful, this software allows you to test the HARD drive

Otherwise I have no other explanation for the quoted question... it's possible and hardware or software related issue.

  • Impossible to install all the drivers on the Satellite L855 - 10 p

    Hello

    I have a satellite L855 - 10 p.
From time to time, the utility TEMPRO tells me that there is a new driver and gives me a link to download it.
However, when I run the installer, it decompresses, telling me he will start after wards, but then the window closes and nothing else.

If I go to the folder where the installer was unzipped and launch tinstall.exe, nothing happens. If I run the SMIPlayerSetup.exe application, it tells me 'you can't find our player in your system. Abandoned facility. ».

    What is going on?

    Hello

TEMPRO is a tool that inform you about the new downloaded drivers.
This isn't an invitation to update the driver. It's just information that a new version is available.

In addition if the download does not work properly via Tempro, I recommend to visit the page of the Toshiba UE driver and download the driver from the page directly.

  • Satellite L855 - 14K - random switching between power settings

My Satellite L855 - 14K is used when it is plugged. The screen changes every seconds bright for dim - at the same time the logo in the taskbar switches to [plugged, load] to [xx % remaining] and the plug is removed from the logo. I changed the setting to [high-power] power and changed the setting to never reduce or turn off the screen and the brightness of the screen has been set to the maximum. There is always an obvious difference and it makes me crazy.

The computer running Windows 7 Ultimate and has a 750 GB SSD, 16 GB of RAM, and software and BIOS are up-to-date. Battery and power have been exchanged with good known and the power supply is interrupted.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Fred

According to the specifications of the laptop your machine was delivered with Win8 64 bit. Have you noticed the same behavior with preinstalled OS original?
Since when did you notice this strange "switching" between the power supply and the battery?

To be honest, it's not easy to say with certainty what the problem is here, but I think that it cannot be software related issue. I can hardly imagine that software gets a sort of 'signal' of electronic power supply.

    The warranty is still valid?

  • Cannot adjust the brightness after display driver update on Satellite L855-118

    Hello.

I just bought a SATELLITE L855-118, with ATI graphics card today, it was between this and another of them, but I know that you have problems updating graphics drivers on a portable Sony.

    I did a restore point.

So I uninstalled the ATI catalyst graphics card and then did a sweeper driver and rebooted and then installed catalyst 12.6, installed fine, but my screen went to the maximum brightness and I can't adjust, BRIGHTNESS osd is displayed but the brightness of the screen does not change.

So I used my restore point.

This time I crushed the catalyst 8.9 with 12.6 stock, still cannot adjust the brightness.

Someone knows how to solve this problem.
