Optical drive will not read anything else professional films

So, I am owner of a 2012 MacBook Pro 13 ". The computer comes with Intel Core i7 processor and has the maximum of 8 GB of Ram. The problem is that the optical drive that is built into the computer will read nothing else done professionally movies. It can read disks of movies like the Lord of the rings and Wargames, to name a few, I tested, but it will not read any DVD-R disc or to a CD. I tried the CDs as Metallica music... And Justice for all after try in another computer and a radio and get good results when it just won't play on my Mac.

I have had this problem in the past , but at the time the optical drive not read anything at all. This occurred in early December and I fixed it on 20 December. To solve the problem, I went to the Apple Store and they can Reset the P - RAM. The Apple guy he told me to make sure to disable every night. I did this because it's what I did in the past. After that, I was able to play any CD or DVD and burn them. I also tested it every two weeks by playing a DVD in there to check that it still works. But I discovered that it was broken again when tried to insert a DVD-R to burn things on it and the computer only it spun and then ejected it. I've known this current problem since around mid-April.

I did some research on it and what I have read I believe that I must buy a cleaning disc and run it in my optical drive to clean the lens of the eye out, but I don't understand how I am able to read some disks and not others if that is the problem.

Can I take it again in the Apple Store and get it looked like or should I buy a cleaning disc and run it through my optical drive, and then decide what to do next? I'm in no hurry to get this problem fixed because my guarantee does not expire until the end of July this year.

I don't know why you want to put some words in BOLD and a few words in normal font. Frankly I find it a bit annoying when someone does something like that, but oh well... what you could do is to try a cleaning disc (the one with little brushes this topic) or a good breath of air compressed. In addition, some brands of DVD - R Virgin do not work as well as others. I found verbatim to be good, maybe maxell or Taiyo Yuden. Your mileage may vary...

If this still does not work, feel free to zap the pram x 2-3) and do an smc reset. Shut down the computer, plug power adapter, hold down the left shift, control, option, and button works / stop for about 45 seconds, let go of all of them, then press the power button to restart. If none of this works, then by all means to make a genius bar appointment and bring it in to your local Apple store. Hey, if you have an extended warranty, might as well use it, right?

Good luck

Hi, there are about 6 weeks, I had to do a recovery because a virus in my PC, the problem is that now the optical unit reads no CD, it reads 'original' CD, DVD (original and burned) but not burned CD specially those who have programs on them, could be a driver problem, but so far I have not been able to solve the problem , and I m not sure the original driver are in Sony's site, or any other Web site.

PS the thing Burns CD and they can be read after that that they were "closed".

I have a VAIO VGN-N330FH, running Vista Home Basic 32 bit (Spanish), the model is a Matshita DVD RAM UJ850s ATA Device.

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

    Hello

I put t think that this drive problem has something to do with the motherboard. The operating system is running properly and I think that you have only one problem with your CD/DVD drive.
Unfortunately, I put t hear it is possible repair. It is perhaps possible to s, but I think that costs are too high to do and this is why the new replacement drive is always advised.

You can try to remove the drive from Device Manager and then after reboot the operating system should recognize it again. You can also try to clean the lens but I n t think this will solve anything.

  • Combo CDR/DVD SDR2102 drive will not read CDs or DVDs

    Hello

    I have a mobile Ergo Elite 4.
The hard drive crashed and I bought a new one.
I have loaded windows XP by using a boot disk but cannot get the Toshiba SDR2102 CDR/DVD combo drive to work. I had to load windows on via USB
    using a USB port.

I can see the drive in windows Explorer, but it will not read the CD or DVD.
I looked in the Device Manager, and it came with no warning mark.
I tried deleteting, re-startup and he's back in the Device Manager.

I'm trying to find a better driver, but it says that I use the best driver.
I tried various Web sites using sand everywhere tells me that I do not need a driver for this drive.
What I do, it seems as if the Combo driver is recognized but it will not be read whatever it is inserted, he said only: insert the disc.

Does anyone know what I can try? or know where I can get drivers for it or software to test the drive?

any help would be appreciated. :-(
    Some.

    Hello

You n t need a special driver for the CD/DVD drive.
CD/DVD players use the current Microsoft drivers already contained in the Windows operating system.

In my opinion, you should first test different types of media. Please note that not all CD or DVD s are compatible. Distribute readers can't handle bad quality mediums.

But we shouldn't t rule out a risk of hardware malfunction.
Disk failure and you may wish to contact your dealer for a replacement.

    Help, please

    Hello, tyINtrouble

The device is listed as a DVD player?

You can check by clicking on start, click computer, and to check the label of the hard drive, he may mention DVD or DVD - RW etc.

You can also check your connections are secure.

If possible, you can try to test the drive in another machine, or another drive in your computer to see if it works properly.

If your hard drive and DVD/CD player are on the same parallel cable connection, it can cause problems as well.

We can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • Toshiba cd/dvd drive will not read or eject or anything like that!

Cd/dvd driver for my Toshiba laptop will not work. It lasted about a year, then he became gradually sporadic to read/write or ejection and by last winter, he stopped all together. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for it, and in Device Manager, it says that the device is functioning normally; every once in a blue moon it will suddenly eject, but then if you put something in nothing happens, even not with the original disks. With the repair utility, it says something like unreadable media, at best. I'm a little confused as to what is happening here, so, what steps should I take to verify if it is indeed the drive disc or something in the software?

  • external usb card reader will not read anything beyond 2 GB cards

my computer is running Vista Edition home premium 64-bit.  When I plug my digital concept 51-in-1 play/recorder card the computer will recognize, if I put in my mic of 1 or 2 GB sd he sees.  But if I insert anything bigger that that the computer sees the card, it does nothing.  So I don't know the card reader works.  I have another computer running the same OS but 32 bits and I have no problem at all.  Could there be a problem with the 64 bit?  Please help... very irritating!

What is the EXACT make and model of drive?  It is Digital Concepts CR - 75 USB 51-in-1 Card Reader/Writer (if not, why)? So no matter where you had drivers, firmware or software for this devicce or did you just plug it and expect it to work with anything else required (which may indeed be the case, but I suspect not - I just want to know if you have anything to make it more compatible with the system).  Where did you get these files and where is the technical support (web site help - is it Sakar, http://www.sakar.com/contactus.aspx?)  If so, consult the following site:http://www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com/digital-concepts-cr-75-usb-51-in-1-card-reader-writer/.  You'll notice that it includes Vista as OS compatible.  Yes, I know, is to find work on the other Vista machine and it works even partially on this one - but he may still have some problems. "

I would contact Sakar support http://www.sakar.com/contactus.aspx and discss the issue with them.  They have a simple solution, or they can tell you that you need to install some additional things (and I hope that tell you where to get them) or they can say that there is a problem with Vista 64-bit.  In any case, they know better than we do, and since you are 'install' as plug-and-play, then the issue is not Vista but the device and/or drivers, firmware, or software required for the unit (even if this wan't necessary in Vista 32-bit computer) of the product.

    I hope this helps.

  • Optical drive will not burn

I saw that there are many other positions on this, and although I found others who had descriptions which were similar to mine, the patch did not work.

    My specs:

    Windows 7 64-bit SP1

    H8 HP desktop PC - 1360t

    My optical drive: DH16ACSHR

My driver for the optical drive is the cdrom.sys, the version of the file: 6.1.7601.17514, date 21/06/2006 driver

When I bought my computer, I did a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit. A ran all updates at once and drive perfectly serious. A few weeks later, it will not burn. I use Windows to burn simply .pdf files, and it gets to the point where it says 'burn', but after I click on burn the dialog box disappears. The drive makes noise and rotates the disk and writes data to it, but the dialog box never pops up or check the disk. It shows no more burn % completeness. If I try to remove the disc, the drive does not open. If I open with a paper clip, because the disk rotates, it sure is beating sounds and jams. When I open the drive and the drive, the drive clearly has written data to, but it cannot be read by other readers. It just says: the disc is no longer a Virgin, but I cannot see what is on it.

    I HAVE ALREADY TRIED:

    Remove/uninstall the driver

Checking the registry entry for the upper and lower entrances, THERE ARE NONE

Being run/scannow - Windows comes up saying that it could not find any problems, all right.

Update driver - he says I have the latest driver

Roll back the driver - he says that there is no driver installed previously

I had a HP Office before a different model and exactly the same thing happened then. When I first came to this other, it burns very well, so I thought that maybe it was a problem with the previous machine... but then after a few weeks it started doing the same thing.

I'm confused because when I look at the release date for the driver, it's super old, and he says it's the latest version... but Microsoft lists 50 updates to it at least between then and now, some of them as recently as June. I can't seem to find a way to download this driver common windows by itself and install it this way or the other.

I refuse to do a complete reinstall because I do not think that it will solve the problem more than temporarily. Within the company, it is the fourth total office with what has happened, and whenever we do a clean install, it works at first but then goes back to the same problem again.

Hoping someone has an idea where I can get a newer than 2006 for this device driver.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and the
correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

Use DevManView to locate the CD/DVD in the registry (be careful and do a prior Restore Point)
nothing change) - find the DevManView device and then make a right click on it free in RegEdit.

DevManView - free - an alternative to the standard Windows Device Manager, which displays
all devices and their properties in flat table, instead of the tree viewer

  • My cd/dvd rom drive is not read anything and not even recognize a disc. Also video applets which would typically run online is no longer running. What I'm doing!

Computer says no disc inserted in the drive.

    Hello

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.
