optical mouse is frozen on the screen

XP Pro - optical wired mouse symbol is frozen in the middle of the screen. No manipulation of the mouse causes the symbol to move. No change on several reboots. The machine is Vostro 220 HP. The mouse works normally on another machine. Can anyone help?

(Make and model of the mouse would be useful.)
What is a USB mouse? If this is the case, it is correct, or "find new hardware", if you unplug it and plug it in again?
If this does not work, unplug the mouse, uninstall the driver software, reboot, and reinstall the mouse and software.

I have an Acer Intel S5 with Windows 7 installed. I had the same problem, that my mouse touchpad & screen FROZE. I couldn't even turn off the power. I did a Google search & followed all instructions to fix the problem, but none of them worked. All was not lost. I just waited the battery to impoverish & the computer is off. I then plugged the power supply & noted AMBER light, showing that the power was connected load. I continued my work on my desk, & after a few hours, noted the amber light goes out & turned BLUE, having shown that it is fully charged. I had no problem if the laptop is turned on by the normal method, & all systems, touchpad mouse was working 100%.

  • HOW IS IT MY MOUSE JUMPS AROUND ON THE SCREEN, OR STOP SUDDENLY

my mouse jumps all over the screen, and it suddenly stops moving.

Test your mouse on another PC. If the problem persists, the mouse is defective.

Test another (known working) mouse on your PC, if the fault persists your PC is faulty somehow.

It's a mouse laser (light rather than a rolling ball works)? If it is try different a surface or a mouse pad. Some surfaces, e.g. mouse pads and mousepad hologram photo will lead crazy optical mice.

If it is a bearing ball mouse, clean the rollers inside.

  • NB100 - mouse cursor flies around the screen

    Hello

So, I bought the NB100 and noticed that something was not right but stupidly put upward with her for over 2 years. Now he is just really annoying as its happens more frequently and, possibly, gets worse!

Randomly, the mouse cursor flies around the screen, by clicking at the opening programs and files, etc. The only way to stop it is to turn off the laptop holding down the power button. She also does when I plug in a usb mouse (and disable the touchpad) so I assume that it is not the hardware, but I have reinstalled as the driver...

Usually, if I turn the laptop on its always crazy but if I start it in safe mode its fine. This made me think I had a virus but I did a scan and nothing shows.

In addition, I don't think that turn it off by holding the power button down is very good for the system that sometimes, when I try to turn it back on, it doesn't load at all (just a black screen with the cursor).

Help, please! I would be eternally grateful...

    Thanks in advance, Nadia

need you pretty much time to fix. My advice is to reinstall Windows from disk image or hard drive recovery. Please, understand me, it's easier and quicker to reinstall rather try to fix it.

    Hello

You will need to reverse the clean boot, as it is either incidental compared to
the real cause of the problem. What, where you try to fix initially using the cleanboot?

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If so you can try the configuration - control panel
The Device Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click the driver UPDATE - then
Right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure) is
CTRL + ALT + DEL and the processes tab find EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - and then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is reached
by tapping F8 as you start several times.

I thought that I had seen and heard of all the strange things that could happen, but you came up with a new.

Here is a picture of what I was talking about:

The "Touch pointer" section is where I thought that the problem can be caused.  At this stage it seems unlikely, however.

More I think about this topic, it seems that it might be something in the software of Logitech.  You can check with them.  It does not make sense to me that Microsoft or HP would have software that causes this to happen.

Please click on the Thumbs up button '+' if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.
