• Problems with the compatibility of Lightroom 6CC and ElCapitan on older iMacs

  When I upgraded to ElCapitan, Lightroom CC seems to continue to work without problem.  Then I did the first update and since then, I have not been able to use development module in the program.  I posted these problems on the Lightroom forums (see link below), but it is clearly an Apple problem, is not a problem of Lightroom. Lightroom people think it's the graphics processor in the older iMac which poses problem, but as I said above, it happened on the first update, not on the initial installation.  There is now another update on hold, and I fear that other programs will no longer work.  Apple made contact with Lightroom on those very real inconsistencies and what is their consensus?  This is a serious problem for a person using an older iMac and photo editing using Adoble products.  For a fuller discussion, please see the link below for the Lightroom Forum (information was also posted on the Forum from Adobe).

  FWIW, iMac 24 "early 2009 may have at least 512 KB of VRAM (typical models

  only had 256 K).  The specification of Lightroom CC, minimum is 1 GB of VRAM.

  Operation on this machine was borderline at best and probably just lucky it worked at all.

  In addition, a huge impact on the works of Lightroom is the amount of RAM installed.  With

  El Capitan installed, try to run Lightroom CC with anything less than 8 GB will be

  issue (despite what can say Adobe).

  10.11.2 here on an end Quad Core iMac 2009 (11.1) running. Newly added THAT SSD has a GUID partition scheme. My Superdrive is problems, so I changed the file Info.plist of the Bootcamp Assistant to support my iMac by adding my model # for the readers of preusbsupported, removed the pre and added to my version of boot rom. He then began to create the Windows 10 ISO on the USB without problem. I then start the installation of Windows 7 Bootcamp and more. Once finished, I stop the iMac to be able to do a cold start system and use the startup key Option. I then started on the newly formed Stick Pen labeled EFI. I proceed with the beginning of the installation of Windows 10. However, when I get to the part where fault window to format the Bootcamp partition always reports back that 'Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows cannot be installed to GPT disks on EFI systems,'. So that's where I'm stuck. Can anyone shed light on this issue and if there is a solution for this?   Update: I have done experiments about the above issue and found that if I just let free unallocated space on the SSD for Windows 10 10 Windows install it reformatted and installation takes place. I wonder if the above question has something to do with firmware the in the 2009 end iMac? Anyway, the good news is that I finally got the USB Installer Windows 10 working on an older unsupported late 2009 27 "iMac. 10 Windows installed fine internal DVD drive for the iMac, but who went south so now I have an alternative!

  I have an iMac 2009 end running El Cap very well. BUT I have 16 GB of ram, people of the greatest error, especially people with the old Mac, make tries to run a modern operating system without enough ram.   Your Mac does not 'clean up' and you must avoid software who claim that like the plague. Much of this software does more harm than good, and some of them are aggressive in pushing the upgrades and difficult to remove. Your Mac is quite able to keep clean, and if you have too many movies, audio files or photos you can remove them yourself.

• Cannot find the RAM for my iMac

  I can't find my DIMMS (1333 mhz for an iMac mid-2011) on the Apple Store. I even searched the model # (PC3-10600) and they are apparently non-existent Apple is concerned. So I started searching Amazon, etc. I looked for that model # and a lot of sources that seem to match the specification EXCEPT that they were all the 240 pins. I can't find a 204 pins. What is going on? My Mac has really slowed down with all the OSX improvements and so on. I want to add 2 DIMMS to 4 GB, but I don't want to order something on the market after if it does of course.   These instructions assume that your iMAC partitions or file systems has been damaged and you want to restore to the way most efficiency with fusion drive and the recovery partition, similar to what was built in the factory.

  These instructions work for the iMAC, retina 5K end 2014 version comes with OSX Yosemite. The scores of major drive of the 128 G SSD and 3 TB of HARD drive has been configured as a logical drive (merger by car).

  WARNING: These instructions here are shared for interest only. Readers to take their own risk by following these instructions. The author is not responsible for any damage caused by following these instructions.

  This is the target disk partitions, and the configuration that we want to achieve.

  Disk0 is the 128 GB SSD - solid state drive and holds the start of the partition (disk0s3)

  Disk1 is the 3.0 to HDD - mechanical transmission and holds the Recovery HD partition.

  There are two EFI partitions to partition table GUID on both hard drives (disk0s1, disk1s1).

  Disk space remaining (partition disk0s2 and disk1s2) are used to create the disc of Fusion 3.1 to named "Macintosh HD".

  Here's how we do it.

  • A. clean reinstallation of Mac OS x.
  • 1. make sure that you back up all your data on the hard drive using Time Machine or other means. The following procedure will delete all data.
  • 2. create the OSX install USB, insert it to the MAC workstation.
  • 3. given that us will be operated on the internal trunk of the reader of the Mac, it must start on OSX install USB (see Y.).

  • 5 copy the long string after the logical volume group and replace the UUID with it in the following command to remove the drive (aka coreStorage) fusion:

  • p. ex. diskutil cs remove E03B3F30-6A1B-4DCD-9E14-5E927BC3F5DC
  • 6. at this stage, the fusion drive has been deleted, and hardsisk SSD and mechanical hard drive will be reappear in diskutil or separate records.
  • 7. If step 5 or 6 takes more than 30 minutes to complete, this means that the fusion drive has been corrupted. You can follow the commands below to clear the table to partition the hard way. First command clears the SSD drive, second command erases the HARD drive.
  • The command does not return a response, after 1 minute, press Ctrl + Z to complete orders. 1 minute is enough data to code and erase the partition table on the disk.
  • cat/etc/random >/dev/disk0
  • cat/etc/random >/dev/disk1
  • . C install a new copy of Mac OS x for the hard drive HDD and tested this disk partition hard recovery work.
