OptiPlex 3020 Micro Series PS/2 Board

Hi all

I ordered the jury we series/RS232 for Micro OptiPlex 3020 (WN80W) on the back of this post:

For use later to anyone, it fits physically the computer correctly, but he did not arrive with no screws to mount on it (which says the description on the invoice it will be) and, more worrisome still, there nothing to actually attach a plug DB9 standard to it, instead of using another connector I have not an adapter for.

Request this part required a call to the Dell sales department, and I guess that's the case for the companion cable, but I don't know the part number for this. Does anyone have any help? Paging Chris M? =)

Thanks in advance!

WN80W is the number of the kit.
KIT = (IO Board, support, cable, live)

I bombed it and two numbers Subpart have been generated =
17P6V cable connector
80TKK i/o board

But no support or screws. I don't know if the secondary part can even be sold?

  • Series number invalid on Optiplex 3020 - Windows & not activate

    Hello

In our society, we have an Optiplex 3020 and have reinstalled Windows 7 from scratch I installed an SSD.

-J' extracted product with a software key in the pre-installed windows 7 (pro x 64). As you know, is no longer COA sticker with the key.

-J' downloaded an image and installed windows 7 pro x 64.

-J' inserted the key extracted but windows says that it is invalid, so I can't even the phone option to validate the key.

My guess is that I was using the wrong image of W7 PRO x 64 but I downloaded the officials, so it should be good.

Could you let me know how I can activate Windows?

    Thank you!

  • Is it possible to run an Optiplex 3020 Headless?

My client uses an Optiplex 3020 M as a server.  No user connects to this PC.  Can it operate without a monitor? (without head)

    Hi Ron,

Well, you're right, Dell is certainly not too concerned that this feature does not work.  For what it's worth, the electronics in the blind plug is very simple, so I am VERY confident that it is NOT the blind plug.  I think this has more to do with the form factor of M (micro) than anything else.  I'd love to have someone to try it on a TM or even a SFF.

I really have no place to put the monitor, but I guess I'll make room under a desk.  I COULD also use a KVM but I fear to confuse the staff of the office with "too many buttons... Laughing out loud

Thanks again for all your efforts and discussion.  The bottom line is IT DOESN 'T SUPPORT it.

The EVGA GTX 760 graphics card, is not compatible with the Mini OptiPlex 3020 Tower.

The EVGA GTX 760 4 GB 256 - Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Support SLI SC 4 GB video card requires 500w or more power.

The OptiPlex 3020 MT supports a power electric Dell exclusive 290w that cannot be upgraded, as there are has no detail compatible power supplies available.

  • OptiPlex 3020 TSRI support

    Hello

Optiplex 3020 supports the technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Is it possible to create a volume RAID-1 with TSRI added a 2nd HARD drive?

If so, is it mandatory to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch?

Hello!  Not that I know 100%, but I doubt that it supports TSRI.  TSRI seems to set up the consumer according to the systems rather then trade what I've ever seen.  Regardless if it was to be available, you will need to wipe the hard drive and start over like you would go interface AHCI HDD to a RAID interface that TSRI uses. Since the SSD prices continue to fall, TSRI seems fallen passing nearby.

Should work. Don't forget to pass the system Bios - video and enable the multi-screen display.

  • OptiPlex 7040 Micro missing heatsink heat from the chipset - is this normal?

I bought an OptiPlex 7040 Micro system about two weeks ago. After the opening of the system, I noticed that the heatsink for the chipset (Q 170 Skylake) is missing. You can see in the image below.

Photos of the user, in fact downloaded manual from Dell, you can find the image with a heat sink as usually installed on motherboards.

Because the German Customer Service isn't really a help for me, they always send me different pictures of the other motherboards than mine, sometimes of the previous Micro 9020, my question is this:

Really missing heatsink (accidentally forgot to install at the factory) or is it planed out of the system for reasons?

Because I don't want to let change possibly latest main map by an elder of the customer service to the Germany, it would be good if someone relay knowing that the facts could answer.

There is no heater on this chipset on the 7040 M.

I checked the internal images of the motherboard, and they show no heatsink during this particular chip.

Also on your image of the motherboard in your system, you will notice that there are 2 positions on the motherboard where the clip holders would be located (circled in white) and real clips are not soldered to the motherboard showing that the radiator and the following clips are not needed

  • OptiPlex 7040 Micro screws missing and clips for WiFi card

We have just purchased four Optiplex 7040 Micro computers and open one open to see how they can get to everything in a small box.  By doing this, I noticed that the WiFi card has not been pressed by what it is.  It doesn't look good for me, so I opened the rest.

One of them had a clear plastic retainer clip, with a screw now with card Wifi supported firmly in place.  The others had a screw, but not clips.

Since then, I spoke with technical support and support enforcement.  They tell me that they cannot just send screws and Staples, only completely new computers.  Looks like a complete waste for me.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    It's normal.

The newer chipsets have a sink of heat and the Z bar.

  • Possible graphics card for DELL OptiPlex 3020?

    Hello

Is it possible to install a video card in the computer Optiplex 3020? I was recommended the 750/750ti from Nvidia that requires no connection to power, but the tech in the store guy told me that even this does not much help us play games because of the power bit my diet so is there anything I can do to this computer play games?

Would like to play Dragon Age Inquisition and similar RPG, games don't care how high settings are, only 60 fps please. My computer looks like the cotyledon on the elevator.

SSD won't do a GPU on INTEL Graphics.

You need something like a Low Profile 7750 not because of the profile because of the power or lack thereof.  Machines of Precision 380 can be had for very little and can use maps video full size.  GTX650TI is required for finer framerates.  ZOTAC ZT-61101-10 M works very well in my Precision 380 with Pentium D 960 upgraded to 8 GB of ram and windows 8.1 pro 64-bit.

    R7250E is a 7750 remarketed

    Hello

I regret the inconvenience, but then, according to the design of the system, I see that this system is tested to work properly with AMD Radeon R5 240 1 GB and 2 GB AMD Radeon R7 250.

Hoping this helps, but if there are more requests write to us.
