OR VISA with Tektronix TDS7404

Hello world

I have problem connecting to the oscilloscope Tektronix TDS7404 via Ethernet of LabView. The driver is installed, but when I open the VI example came with the driver,

I need the VISA name. If I leave the field blank, I get an error:

1073807343 error occurred while opening VISA in Tektronix 7000
Series.lvlib:initialize. VI-> Tektronix 7000 series gain Waveform.vi

Possible reasons:

VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF0011) insufficient location information or the device or
resource is not present in the system.

How can I configure the VISA for this scope?

It is connected to the PC via a switch, ping for the works of scope, I can see the hard drive of it also.

I use LabView 2010 SP1; I do not see the scope max.

Thank you.

Problem solved. Among device drivers has not been installed. Not the high level (VISA drivers), but the low level drivers. The TekVISA server on the scope did not work as well. Strange that LabView has not complained about these directly, just did not see the scope.

  • TekTronix TDS7404 help

    Dear all,

Am new to this using LabVIEW instrument control. I had the LabVIEW programming experience. But aside from the instrument, I just started to learn.

We use TekTronix TDS7404. It has built in the OS (Windows 98). I've installed OR VISA 3.01 (since it is the last version that supports win 98?). I did something (I forgot the steps) in the MAX now my device is listed under resource various VISA (with a yellow icon) and underneath it is displayed in the form of something GPIB:8:0. When I opened an interactive control VISA and get attributes like the name of manufacturer of resource it displays like TekTronix Inc. My query is that it is configured correctly? So why is the yellow mark? And why my device is listed under resources various VISA and is referred to as GPIB:8:0 something? I uninstalled NI VISA entirely including MAX and reinstalled again. But after a new installation, MAX is now also displays the same thing. (Thought I deleted the entry from the device, but did not then).

Please give me a few steps how to set up my camera and display Max to have certain attributes of MAX.

    Thank you

First, I created a driver for my device with the information provided here: http://www.hameg.com/0.563.0.html. my device showed in under «NI-VISA USB Devices» device manager

The problem is when I run the application NEITHER MAX I can see my camera and communicate with them using 'PANEL TEST of VISA's ', but when I switch to labview, visa resource name does not display the name of my device.

  • Will be performing tasks VISA with a data acquisition (Dev1) in a VI block tasks with the second DAQ (Dev2) VISA in a second VI?

    Hi all

I have two functional screw a loop a set of read and write tasks with device 1 (NI USB-6008).  The second loop a set of writing with device 2 (another NI USB-6008) tasks.  2 VI has a massively slower than VI 1 time scale, which means that it must run in a separate loop.  Otherwise, VI 2 was created by copying and modifying 1 VI and variable names actions with him (though not, for example, global variables).  The two screws are meant to run at the same time on the same PC.

However, if VI 1 is running at the same time as VI 2, any read operations or in writing to 1 VI 1 device are executed - but the VISA read and write operations to a serial device work.  When VI 2, all VI 1 functions work fine.

Although I configured channels for tasks using the GUI DAQmx, I execute tasks using reading DAQmx write commands and have correctly defined the task 'create' and 'stop the task' live out the beginning and the end of my loop, respectively.

Does anyone have suggestions for what could be the cause?  My thoughts so far:

    a. maybe it's some conflicts in the names of variables in memory between the two screws?

    b. LabVIEW for some reason any cannot read and write two devices on two separate screws?

should c. I avoid to use DAQmx to configure these tasks (a sort of memory)?

I know I can make it work if I have all together in a single massive VI, but for my application, it is much easier and better to do them in two separate screws.

Thank you in advance for your help!

In case anyone wondered, I found the solution:

When I copied the original code for a new VI, it turns out that the structures of loop timed in the new VI had the same object name in the delivery structure of LabVIEW as timed in the original VI loop structures.  This prevents effectively regardless of the VI was executed the second execution of the timed loop.  (The serial number read/write suite to work because he was in a different timed loop.)

I found this error when I ran the VI in execution of highlight mode and noticed that the output of 'error' on the timed loop flashed.  When I plugged it on my error stream, I found error-808, which explains the above problem.

I have it set by right-clicking on the timed loop, change to a while loop, then change to a timed loop and plug the broken wires.  LabVIEW gave the new timed loop object a new name, and all was well in the universe.

  • Communication of visa with Agilent 35670 A dynamic signal Analyzer

    Hello

I'm working on a project that is to use a dynamic Agilent 35670 A and LabView 7.1 Spectrum Analyzer. Use the 35670 I downloaded the corresponding and registered in the libarary INSTR 7.0 LAbView instrument driver as should.

All the downloaded drivers require the instrument to communicate through VISA which is very good.

Now, I turn on my instrument, open Measurment & Automation explore and search for devices. Research has managed to find the device at the address (12) so I go to my Labview program and add a 'VISA Rescource name' control which should also the device in the menu drop-down list...

However, all it lists is the GPIB card to the address (0) and another address (26), I don't know where his acquired address (26) since there is no other instrument connected. There is no sign of address (12)...

Now, I check all my cables and connections and return to Measurment & Automation Explorer and "Analysis of the Instruments" and the message that no instrument is connected...

I try a few times but to no result so I was wondering is there a problem with the VISA for the Agilent 35670 communication (this could be a matter of Agilent also?)

    Thanks Dennis,

I have tried a few different things... changed the cables, used another computer with GPIB card, but it doesn't improve anything.

Then, I tried the connection GPIB-USB-B, which required and update to 2.2 OR-488, and the updated version seems to have solved the problem.

  • Serial communication error VISA with LUDL stage controller

    Hello

I'm trying to control a micro-positionnement made by Ludl stage. The model is Ludl MAC2000. It seems that the RS232 comunnication is implemented because I can talk to the controller using HyperTerminal. However, when I want to do the same thing through Labview, I can't answer the controller at all. The vi is roughly the same as the visa basic read/write in the example. Looks like a very similar problem in this post:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/instrument-control-GPIB-serial/visa-serial-communication-problem/m-p/567065#...

But the trick of nature of endpoint does not help in my case: I tried to toggle the termination character setting in the property node and different combinations of '\r', '\n' as termination characters, but nothing has worked so far.

Seems to me there is some difference between the interpretations of the same order to Hyper Terminal in Labview. But I just can't understand what it could be.

Anyone with a similar experience could give me some comments/suggestions? Thank you very much!

Another difference between hyperterminal and labview is the speed of sending characters.

LabVIEW breaks out the whole string to the controller

HyperTerminal is this character by character. So much slower and slow the controller can be affected by this.

You could add a loop around the writing of visa (to make it easy convert the string into a byte array outside of the loop and convert it to a string inside and you have a shipment char by char in LabVIEW

  • Communication of VISA with connected USB GSM modem using a protocol AT

Hello, I am writing an application that should send sms messages.i have a connected USB GSM modem that supports the PROTOCOL. The modem works by using its own software and the HyperTerminal.I have used VISA driver development Wizard to create the .inf file. The device is now recognized and registered to the MAX. However, I can't understand how to code the commands and read the responses using write VISA and VISA read. Thanks for the help, Dima

The last thing you should have to do is create an INF with the wizard. Remove completely and the compiled version. What you want to do is to use the inf file supplied with the device which a serial port to the BONE and makes it usable with Hyperterminal. It should appear in MAX as a serial port. Once you have restored all the way it is, then you can start with the examples of series and writing to it should work as it did in Hyperterminal. In other words, simply send the chain of command.

  • Clear VISA with event structure

    Hello

I have a number of virtual serial ports of bluetooth as stream very quickly as soon as you open them with VISA configures port. I have set up/open these ports one after the other and it takes a lot of time (2 min), I think it's because they are com ports virtual bluetooth.  However, as soon as a single port is open, the data streams in and fills the buffer (eventually crashing the program), while I open other ports. I was invisioning something similar to an interrupt driven microprocessor to erase the buffer whenver it exceeds 2000 bytes to the port, my friend told me about event structures is similar to interrrupts. So, ideally, I would like to create a user event customized, defined by the property (bytes to the port) of a VISA com port node when it exceeds 2000 bytes. I would like just to run code that was going to free the buffer when occurs the same. Seems like a simple idea, I searched and did not find what I wanted to do.  Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

    Chris

Its delicate, but I think it would work.

LV allows multithreading, so you can certainly run screws in parallel which are completely independent of each other.  But the challenge is that your code cannot access the same COM port simultaneously.  But the way you described the problem, which could be circumvented.  I think your 'COMPortMonitor' could sit and wait for each port to open before their follow-up... so that your main loop before opening the following COM port.

Here's what the flow would look like:

    VI of HAND PORTMONITOR.VI

    0 Begin execution of this

    1 separate launch PORTMONITOR.VI

2 open COM1 begin implementation of this loop

3 tell PORTMONITOR COM1 is open

    4 begin to monitor COM1

5 open COM1 empty COM2 buffer when it becomes large

7 tell PORTMONITOR COM2 is open

    8. start monitoring COM2

    9 empty COM1 & COM2 when they become large

10 stop this loop when last COM is open

    11 more...

In step 5, your parallel loop will work with COM1... so that your main loop is busy opening COM2.  In theory, I expect to run independently.  And you can try to put them in separate threads, too.  This links talking about parallel loops in series:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/multiple-parallel-asynchronous-continuous-serial-visa-reads/m-p/8090...

BTW: I think that you must ensure that your VISA application is asynchronous to operate (right-click on them).

  • With the help of VISA with Windows 7 64-bit resource control

    Hello.

My company has recently upgraded our laptops, and I now work on Windows 7 64 bit rather than Windows XP 32 - bit.  I reinstalled a bunch of basic LabVIEW 2009, hoping that the 64-bit Windows 7 operating system would be able to handle 32-bit LabVIEW 2009 without problems.  But trying to run our test system, the control of VISA resources does not work.

We use it to get a list of the COM (RS232) ports on the computer.  But the list is now empty.  The only option that appears in the list, is the text "Refresh."  But nothing happens when I press it.  Is this a bug in LabVIEW?  I installed the latest patch that I found, so now I'm under LabVIEW v9.0f3 (32 bit).

    Many thanks for any help!

LabVIEW SP1 has an x 64 native installer.  I'm running very well with drivers 64-bit on this disc.  I think that the later will have something to do with your problem.  See the com ports in MAX?

  • VISA with Keithley 236 questions

I use the Keithley 236 in LabVIEW 8.5 and am having some VISA problems.  I can't find a write buffer command that works with the 236.  No one knows everything?  If you need more ask for details, but I can't provide you with the vi because his ITAR restricted.

What is 'it' that returns IDDC? This isn't a VISA error code.

What I suggest is that you forget to LabVIEW for now and concentrate on debugging of a GPIB communication base. In MAX, peripheral slot, and Interfaces your GPIB card must be listed and under who should be listed the instrument if you have followed the installation instructions. If the instrument is not listed, click with the right button on the controller and select 'Search tools'. When and if the isntrument is listed, you can right click and select "Communicate with instrument. You have the option to do a writing, reading or a query. This is where you should start to debug commands.

  • Disagreement of Tektronix TDS 3000 VISA and pilot

My lab is trying to use LABVIEW 2015 in order to obtain numerically a 3054 Tektronix TDS Oscilloscope waveform data. We have (on two separate computers) installed the latest version of VISA (15.5) and the Tektronix 3000 series drivers. However, when we open the instrument control drivers and run one of the examples, we get the following error

"Error 1073807202 occurred in opening VISA to Tektronix TDS 3000 Series.lvlib:Initialize.vi-> Tektronix TDS 3000 Series Auto Setup Waveform Acquire.vi"

We have reinstalled the drivers on both computers with no luck, the error continues. We have also re-installed VISA, but the error persists. Is that what could be missing regarding how to actually set this instrument on the rise and synchronize it with labview? We connect the oscilloscope to our computers using a GPIB to USB cable and systems are more or less insensitive.

No indication in this regard would be appreciated,

    Thank you

If you use GPIB, you must also have installed NOR-488. 2.
