    also before making what is proposed on the url posted by Mufalani.
    It seems that you should do the following:

    Verify the existence of udev mapping rule file /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules brute
    On HR/EL5, gross udev mapping rule file /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules must exist by default as part of the util-linux package, for example:

    # ls /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules
    /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules

    Create a custom gross udev mapping rules file, /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules say, for example:

    # touch /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules

    3B. Add raw udev binding rules to the /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules file
    Add the binding rules gross udev in the etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules file, for example:

    # cat /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules
    # Raw bind to Oracle Clusterware devices
    ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd*", PROGRAM=="/sbin/scsi_id", RESULT=="360a98000686f6959684a453333524174", RUN+="/bin/raw /dev/raw/raw1 %N"
    ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd*", PROGRAM=="/sbin/scsi_id", RESULT=="360a98000686f6959684a453333524179", RUN+="/bin/raw /dev/raw/raw2 %N"

    If switch to RHEL5/OEL5 since an earlier version of Linux that has pressed persistent raw device bindings in the/etc/sysconfig/rawdevices file, the following script can serve as a basis to generate your RHEL5/OEL5 of the udev rules. Note that the script does not factor device name persistence.

    #!/bin/bash
    grep -v "^ *#" /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices | grep -v "^$" | while read dev major minor ; do
    if [ -z "$minor" ]; then
    echo "ACTION==\"add\", KERNEL==\"${major##/dev/}\", RUN+=\"/bin/raw $dev %N\""
    else
    echo "ACTION==\"add\", ENV{MAJOR}==\"$major\", ENV{MINOR}==\"$minor\", RUN+=\"/bin/raw $dev %M %m\""
    fi
    done

  • Migrate from rhel 3 to rhel 4 ebs 11.5.10.2

    Dear all,

    I would like to migrate 11.5.10.2 ebs running on oracle 10.2.0.3 db rhel 3 OS--> rhel 4,.

    Is there a documentation I could quote to migrate this, I want to keep an ebs version & db, it would be just an operating system migration.

    Thank you

    Hello

    You can clone of rhel 3 to rhel 4. (I recommend to migrate to RHEL 5, so that you don't have to not repeat the migration to the latest version of the operating system that you are certified)

    Do it for a test instance, if all goes well, then you can migrate prod.

  • Using Oracle ODBC HS to Sybase get cursors exceeded max

    Oracle 11 g 2

    Linux RHEL 6.5

    -----------------------

    When you use Oracle ODBC HS to connect to Sybase via dblink SYB get the following error:

    ORA-01000: cursors open maximum exceeded

    ORA-02063: preceding line of SYB

    When you run the same SQL locally, getting no error.  (The same tables in Sybase are replicated in Oracle).

    Increased the max sliders and even restarted Oracle - no difference.  SQL on system tables do not show more than 250 sliders in use yet max cursors defined at 2500.

    This error above suggests a problem of cursor max with Sybase?  Or something else?

    It can also be a problem with the HS_OPEn_CURSORS. By default, the gateway allows only 50 open cursors will be open to the foreign database. What happens when you set in the gateway HS_OPEN_CURSORS init file = 200?

    If it fails again, could you upload to a public file share a gateway (HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = DEBUG) DEBUG trace level?

    Oracle: 11.2 EE.

    We have tried to identify a problem of performance for our ETL process before going live.
    We use external tables with data extraction and loading pump.

    On server 1 (Dual Core QA)
    Our etl process runs 15% faster.

    On the server 2 (Quad Core Production)

    Our test includes the creation of a database in production and by running the etl process. We moved the Lun containing production data files for testing and using the same init.ora files, we have brought to the top of the database on server1. We find that server1 performs much faster than on server2.
    We even passed on the HBA from one server to another, to eliminate any problem of connectivity with the material. Even with that, we are at a time where server2 running slower than server 1.

    We have reduced to the following in the AWR report (do not know how to post the report as a whole). It seems that the readings are much faster on the server 1 Server 2.

    Hello

    I saw cela previously, where, from a CPU more fast speed of the slowest to the although it causes many, unique process threaded to operate more slowly. You do not have as much energy for this simple to use threaded process. Even if she was not maxing out the CPU before, it could be present on this single thread.

    It is not really the answer but if everyhting else is the same and I mean identical, then it must be the only change and, therefore, the culprit. In this case, you will need to parallelise the process.

    See you soon,.

  • RAC with Oracle VM and Windows Server

    Hi all,

    We want to implement the system with Oracle database 11g or 10g 64 bit (CARS) on the OS of Microsoft Server 2008/2003. We do not have enough licenses for all the hearts, and we want to find a way to implement the RAC database with existing licenses.

    Is this a good solution to use virtualization, as Oracle VM?
    How much is safe to use virtualization?
    Can we do Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) environments Oracle VM with Windows Server 2008 64-bit (or 2003 Server) operating system and use hard partition?
    Is it better to invest in licenses or try with Oracle VM?

    Oracle VM can be configured so that it is recognized as a difficult score.
    Hard partitions allow customers of one license these CPU used by the partition instead of license all the processors on the physical server.

    Virtualization is not certified for Oracle RAC on Windows.

    + Software on Oracle VM [464754.1 ID] + notes States certified:

    Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)

        Oracle 10.2.0.4 and up (10gR2) and 11.1.0.7 and up (11gR1) and 11gR2 RAC for Linux x86 and Linux x86_64 certified on Oracle VM
            Guest OS: Oracle Linux 5.1 (and above) RHEL 5.1 (and above) for Linux x86 / Linux x86_64
            Paravirtualized (PV) mode only (Guest OS and drivers)
            Only supported on Oracle VM 2.1.2 and above
            Live-migration of an Oracle RAC VM is supported with Oracle VM 2.2.1 and above.
            Previous versions are not supported. Please refer to this link for best practices.

            Over-committing CPUs is not recommended, but supported with the following restrictions:
                The total amount of VCPUs allocated to guest domains (running Oracle RAC guests), should not exceed
                two times (2x) the amount of real CPUs / cores in the Oracle VM server.
                The amount of VCPUs allocated to a single guest domain should not exceed the amount of real CPUs /
                cores in the Oracle VM server.
                Maintain Oracle VMs default VCPU allocation for dom-0: Oracle VM will allocate 1 VCPU for each real CPU or core to dom-0.
                CPU pinning is only recommended for hard partitioning. If no hard partitioning is required, CPU pinning should not be used.

            Static support only (dynamic support is being planned):
                Dynamic resizing of guest virtual machine is not supported (VCPU, memory and I/O)
                Virtual Machine Pause/Restore of an active Real Application Cluster virtual machine is not supported.
