Oracle 10g RAC - private interconnection on VLAN not routable private

There is in our data center existing Oracle 10g RAC configured with VLAN private interconnection managed by a different group of DBA.

We create a new, separate Oracle 10 g RAC environment to support our request.

When we discussed with our data center people to set up a local VIRTUAL private network for our CARS of interconnection, they suggest to use the same VLAN used by the other Oracle RAC configurations existing private. In this case the IPs of interconnection will be on the same subnet as the other Oracle RAC configurations.

For example, if
RAC1 with 2 nodes use 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 in the VLAN_1 for the Interconect, they want us to use the same VLAN_1 with interconnecting IP 192.168.1.3 and 192.168.1.4 to our 2 node RAC.

Share the same subnet on the same private VLAN for the interconnection of different configurations of RAC, supported?
Which will cause a drop in performance? This means the IPs of a RAC interconnect configuration is to pings from other RAC configuration.

Someone met with such purpose?

Could not find any info on it on Metalink.

Thank you

Yes
It is practically very doable... as you would have only 4 m/c in subnet ip... and it is much less than the public subnet that we should abstain from interconnection.

Before you configure TAF, you should know about TAF

If the instance fails, TAF allows applications to automatically reconnect to a different instance. The new connection will be identical to the original, but uncommitted, existing at the time of breaking transactions will be cancelled.

TAF can be configured to perform two types of failover: session and selectwith the resumption of the session, any uncommitted transaction will be cancelled, and the session will be linked to another instance, with the resumption of the selection, uncommitted transactions will be cancelled, the second will be connected to another instance and any select statement that was running at the time of the breakup will be rerun by the sesion again using the same RCS and recoveries lines will be rejected upward until the original request has failed. The Select statement will continue return the remaining rows to the client.

a TAF connection must be configured in the configuration file net tnsnames.oraOracle. In oracle 10.1 and higher, the DBCA services management page can generate appropriate TNS for the TAF entries.

To configure the TAF, the TNS entry should include a FAILOVER mode clause that defines the properties of the recovery as follows,

TYPE attribute defines the behavior as a result of a failure. Value: Session, select or none

Attributes of the METHOD--> when connections are made to the failover. Value: base or preconnect

ATTEMPTS--> number of times where a connection should be attempted before displaying an error.

DELAY--> the time in seconds between each connection attempt.

  • Oracle 10g RAC on CF7

    Hello

If someone has been able to get this config? I have 2 servers CF7 in a cluser, each are currently pointing to 2 different Oracle RAC servers, it's OK for the pseudo load balancing is not for failover.

I noticed the new 3.5 DataDirect JDBC drivers
( http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=42dcb10a) seem to work with 10g RAC, but are not supported, but I'm not sure how to set up the drivers 'Other' as stated in the link, the instructions do not provide enough information.

Has anyone got the job and could let me know what I need to enter in the config of pilots 'Other' to make it work?

    Thanks in advance,

  • Oracle 10g Rac node eviction

    Hi all
I have Oracle 10 g R2 RAC prod db env's (Linux) on the on-board poower dell computers.
I have node eviction (within 10 days) issue.in my traffic N/W env is huge.
It is cause of N/W or everything?

Also note that the interconnection must be a dedicated and private network. Crossover ethernet connection is also not supported.

So, in this respect, how can you have any traffic on your interconnection, except CRS (and possibly storage as OCFS2 or RPS) traffic? Whence the huge amount of traffic that you are talking about comes from?

If it's on the network audience and interfaces - No. It's extremely likely expulsion of node. Unlike interconnection where a failure or a problem can easily cause expulsion from node.

What architecture do you use for your interconnection? (GigE, IPoIB, collage, etc.?)

  • REG: Oracle 10g RAC training

    Hello

I need some information about the training of Oracle 10 g RAC.

I hold an OCP 9i. I work in the database to single instance Oracle 10 g.

It is obligatory to fill for 10g OCP to attend RAC training?

I have a few studies knowledge about FCAC, as CARS and work funcationalities architecture. But I have no practical experience in the CARS.

So I need some advice about preparations for this training.
while I can understand the funcationalities easily.

Has anyone trained before? Please, share your experience.

    TIA,

    Hello

As much as I know, until you look for review there not compulsory to attend to Traning. As you say you have enough knowledge on a single instance, you can watch for traning. I suggest you go for ORACLE university.

  • Oracle 10g RAC and Unix * question rlogin *.

I supports several bases RAC 10 g running on servers pSeries IBM using AIX 5.3. Our data base and the clusterware indicated 10.2.0.3 10.2.0.4.

I understand that user equivalence and rsh/ssh must be enabled so that the environment RAC and clusterware to connect across all the cluster nodes.

My problem is an issue raised by our internal system Auditors. Are asking that the commands rlogin and exec for AIX is disabled, because they feel that it is a security risk. Two orders prompt for a valid user name and password when they are used for the remote connection or execute a command.

I looked at the RAC documentation search online and Metalink (I'm not an expert on Metalink, though!) as well as Google and could not find anything indicating that rlogin and exec are specifically required for CARS work properly.

Can anyone offer advice or their point of view on whether or not these two commands should be enabled for RAC in order to function?

I thank you in advance for any help, you can give it to me.

    Kind regards
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

as far as my knowledge goes CARS use neither commands rlogin or exec.
After the installation of the cluster Oracle simply communicates via. (Clusterware) TCP and UDP (RAC) and is only sending and receiving messages. It is not necessary at run time for a remote access connection.

ALS if ssh and rsh are solemnly used for installation and connection (not for communication).
Oracle recommends always to leave active because it makes life easier to activate ssh every time that a patch is necessary.

  • Oracle 10g RAC + ASM + Data Guard: Question on the new disk group.

    Hello

One of our clients is to have Oracle 10 g RAC + ASM + Data Guard. Database is the disk DATA_DG1 group and FRA is on FLASH_DG1. Data Guard is a single instance on ASM.

To add more space, we can create another disc of the Group DATA_DG2 on Prod ASM and Data Guard ASM env, replication continues without any problem. Will be archiving logs shipped to the second disk DATA_DG2 group and applied without any configuration changes?

    Rgds,

    Yes, it sounds great.

You should be fine with the implementation of these measures and the dataguard should continue on as usual.

Just make sure that you are dealing with a physical standby that has not the conerts file name defined.

  • Oracle 10g RAC, add node - no jobs for the new server

    Dear all,

We want to add a new node (say node5) to our current RAC 10 g 2 (on Solaris 5.9 operating system). While trying to set up ssh as detailed in the http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14205/presolar.htm#BABJBAEB documentation, I found that node5 is able to ssh to all other RAC nodes, but none of the existing nodes is able to ssh without password node5. Further investigation shows that node5 cannot do a ssh to himself without a password.

Can you please help me to solve this problem.

    Another point was found:

Check the permissions of directory on X11R6. They should be 700. Set them accordingly and try again.
I had the problem without password ssh was not possible until this that/home/oracle has been set at 700.

Also check your system log file (/ var/log/messages) to find errors SSH.

Both Oracle 10 g 2 and 11g RAC are supported for RedHat Enterprise 5 on versions 32 and 64 bit. It's really some information that should be available outside metalink (for people like you who are not yet customers).

    Hope this has helped

Get and install the correct RPM OCFS2 that match your kernel (or boot system using the correct kernel).

On the LSN (Unbreakable Linux Network) this can be done by using this command:

    # up2date ocfs2-'uname - r '.

For Red Hat download http://oss.oracle.com/projects/ocfs2/ RPM systems
It is unlikely to occur on a SuSE distribution since the OCFS2 modules are packed inside the rotation speed of the core.

    Hi all
Using ATG 9.1 my application works fine, but after I installed oracle 10g my Jboss starts up, but I couldn't run my application?
This shows that the requested Url is not found...

Could you please tell me why this happens...

    Thanks in advance...

    Thank you and best regards,
    Sudhakar.

This happens in oracle 10g for oracle 10g is also used as the default http port 8080.
And if your application server is running on default 8080 port you ll see this problem.

To solve this, all you need to do is change the port to some other port number 8080 by default oracle.
See the link below to change the port.
    http://daust.blogspot.in/2006/01/XE-changing-default-HTTP-port.html

After changing the port, restart your computer again and you should be able to access your application very well.
