Yes, you should be able to install 11 GR 2 on windows 7 Home premium edition.
Refer to this http://mgrvinod.wordpress.com/2011/05/23/oracle11g-r2-on-windows7-home-premium-64bit/
You may be able to install, but this is no guarantee that the software will work as announced. There are very specific reasons why Oracle do not certify their software of database on the Home of Win versions. PL see the alternative (and supported) I posted above

I get an ORA-12514 in Oracle 12 c when restart Windows 2012
Hi Mr President:
I just installed Oracle 12 c in a 2012 Widnows Server. Sometimes, I get the famous ORA-12154 error - tns could not resolve the connect identifier specified. the problems occurs in two different servers. I think the problem is when I reboot the server, Oracle has a problem with the identifier name or database server / IP resolution.
I fix"Database Management Wizard" running Oracle. When I run this application, the database comes to life. Can you explain to me what is happening? How can I fix or put in place to solve the problem?
Thanks in advance.
Guillermo
you need the administration for windows, not the dbca assistant
This will give you the options to start automatically to your windows startup oracle
Set the nt service starts automatically and also the oracle instance
This should resolve the startup problem
provide your listener will also start automatically...
You can set to auto in services.msc

Linux and oracle database installation best practices windows
can anyone recommend the guide of best practices for the installation/design of windows/Linux oracle database servers.
Microsoft, sql Server, provide a number of useful resources on the evolution of the default parameters that can die of hunger the operating system of resources, where to and where not to store the data in files/logs etc etc, but I've yet to find a similar guide for Oracle. Research on best practices during the installation/initial design in order to avoid the risk of recovery/redundancy later on any line, reliability, availability, performance. Guidance most welcome.

Hello
I started with Oracle Database 11g, with apex XE, fact the upgrade of the Apex 4.2.6 and to develop a small Application.
I wanted to connect to my computer (with step of database on this subject) from another computer Windows 7 B.
So I put Firefox: //A:8080/apex but I have only received a timeout.
Of course, on both computers there is a firewall of windows running, so I stopped on both systems, the firewall, but it is always the same.
In Explorer windows running on computer B, I can see data from computer A and both computers are in the same home-net group. (Sorry for my bad English).
Is there anyone who cann tell me how to get the connection running?
Maybe I saw the info on this in the textbooks, if it is there, please give me a hint.
Thank you very much

Unable to navigate to the Oracle 12 c directory in Windows
I installed Oracle 12 c on my laptop with Windows 7 Professional. I had to install with administrator rights, administrator is usually given only for a short period in our Organization if required for installation. The installation is successful, but when I try to navigate to the location where Oracle 12 c is installed I get the message as access denied when you navigate to D:\Oracle12c the drive D. I just need a way to assign privileges to my user so that I can navigate freely and perform the tasks required.
I hope, my request is clear.
Please get back with the answer to my query.

This isn't an installation problem, but a problem of permission to OS - you will need to check with your OS admins

Uninstall oracle Database 11 g for windows 7 64 bit
Dear all;
I'm new here and I hope that I can find answers to my questions
I'm a Java developer course now we use the oracle 11g in the course database, so I took the source of the database and install, after installation I realized that my windows is 64-bit and the database, I installed 32-bit is, after some research, I found that I have to uninstall the 32-bit and download and install the 64-bit.
I'm not at all aware of the database, im just using the data inside, I just need a connection between the J and database developer to be able to make a small system that applies the rule of CRUD (Create, Retrieve. Updated, delete).
It seems a little difficult to uninstall, I tried the deinstall.bat file but nothing happened.
You can just guide me please as im downloading now the 64-bit version, while I need to uninstall the 32-bit version.
Thanks in advance.
Mohamed SaadAllah
Hi Mohamed SaadAllah,
To uninstall the 11.2 customer, you should use the utility uninstall.
You can download uninstall the 32-bit Installer 11.2.0.1 http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/oracle11g/112010/win32_11gR2_deinstall.zip
Extract the zip file and just open a command prompt and go to the extracted folder and run uninstall as follows
Uninstall % - home
This is the location of the oracle Home client installation.
Kind regards

Hi guru.
I'm not able to get the listening port connectivity after installing Oracle 11 g 2 network on windows on vmware workstation infrastructure. Sign up with a static ip address.
Even I've recreated the listener and the operation of the grid home listener.
The output of what I get is: -.
C:\ > lsnrctl status
The listener without support services
Can you please help me
Listener.ora file is NOT necessary to start or use the Oracle listener.
Rename, delete, or otherwise remove the listener.ora file then do as below
ps - ef | grep-i PMON
lsnrctl stop
lsnrctl start
lsnrctl status
# Wait 60 seconds continue it below
lsnrctl service
COPY the results from above then PASTE all back here

Designer sql access manager oracle to initialize application on Windows 7 error
I try to use the application on a windows computer Designer 7. PeopleTools 8.50.10 and Oracle 10 g 32-bit client installed. I can connect to the database via sqlplus. When I open the application designer and try to connect, I get:
SQL Access file Manager: SQL ManagerSQL Access error. #2 stmt. Position of the error: 0 return: 8097 - Oracle initialization error
My account of windows 7 is a "standard user" account When I log in as an administrator, I can connect to designer app without any problem. Anyone know what changes I can make so that standard users can use designer app or mover of data without the need to access admin account?
Thank you!
Way the easiest way is to disable the user on windows access control.
From the windows menu start in the search box, type UAC, and move the slider to never notify.
Also, make sure that the configuration manager settings are configured correctly, this is related to the windows user profile (ConnectId, path of the Oracle Client, etc.).
Because you can connect to the developer of the Application with the administrator user, first try to export configuration manager settings while logged into Windows with an administrator account and import the same configuration manager settings while logged into Windows with a regular user account.

Installation of Oracle Client 32-bit on Windows 64-bit
Hello
I am trying to install the Oracle 32-bit (version 11.2.0) client on a Windows 64-bit server (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Service Pack 1).
It is my understanding that this is supported and should work. However, the Oracle 64-bit (version 11.2.0) client is already installed on the server.
We need the 32-bit client from an older application requires it.
The GUI for the installation of the client starts very well - but when step "Finish Installation" MISTLETOE evacuated all of a sudden. The installation log file ends

I am running as a local administrator installation - I tried installing with setting the compatibility mode to Windows 2000. No success at all the :-(
Am I wrong that the 32-bit client ths is certified with this version of windows? Does anyone have experience with the same situation?
Any help will be appreciated!

Installation of Oracle 11 g XE on Windows 8 - work
I was able to properly install do like "Run As Administrator" and access to Oracle 11 g Express edition (32-bit version of windows software) based windows 8 OS 64-bit in my laptop. I came across a message saying some xyz... File KEY_XE.reg is not found in the Temp directory, I just clicked ok and I see installation is finished successfully and the services are up and running may access the database schemas. I got my new laptop and before installing, I've updated the operating system with all the latest Microsoft patches and started the download/install Oracle 11 g XE. Is there something else to test as a scenario/problem that you may have met to ensure that its really work?
I know that the underlying Oracle saying it may or may not work and I agree saw it is a free version.
Thank you.
Edited by: Ariean March 13, 2013 14:39Certified are documented versions of MS OS for 11gXE - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm#BABGGAJA
There is currently no certified Oracle software to win 8 or Win 2012 - future versions of Oracle are expected to be certified - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/tech-info/sod-oracle-db-win8-win2012-1853201.pdf
I expect that the 12 c of the XE version (when it exists) will be probably attested with Win 8
