Installation of Oracle Client 32-bit on Windows 64-bit

Hello

I am trying to install the Oracle 32-bit (version 11.2.0) client on a Windows 64-bit server (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Service Pack 1).

It is my understanding that this is supported and should work. However, the Oracle 64-bit (version 11.2.0) client is already installed on the server.

We need the 32-bit client from an older application requires it.

The GUI for the installation of the client starts very well - but when step "Finish Installation" MISTLETOE evacuated all of a sudden. The installation log file ends

with

INFO: Setting the value for the variable INSTALL_TYPE

I am running as a local administrator installation - I tried installing with setting the compatibility mode to Windows 2000. No success at all the :-(

Am I wrong that the 32-bit client ths is certified with this version of windows? Does anyone have experience with the same situation?

Any help will be appreciated!

I downloaded oracle files from the download on the oracle Web site section and extracted to the same folder in order to install them. Then I've revised the documentation at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/em.112/e12255/oui1_introduction.htm#BABHCGAC and can find no answer to this question. What is more, on another machine with newly deployed windows 7 as the operating system, the case is similar.
Can someone help me with this one, or at least advise it what should I do to get this installation of Oracle 11 g R2 operational?
    Thanks in advance.

  • oracle client 32-bit to a 64-bit Oracle Server

Because of the requirement of a 3rd party application, I can have to use client 32-bit Oracle 10 g 2 on the application server to connect to a 64-bit (another box) DB server. The OS is Linux SUSE 10 worm. The platform is x 86.

-Is that degrade performance? Oracle has all the recommendations of such a scenerio? Searched the net without saving.

    Help, please. Thank you.

No problem with 32-bit client (well at least not because of the length of Word anyway).

And if you have both, it will be relatively easy to test with a small application of demonstration OIC/ProC (no sqlplus as it is not a very precise measurement tool), but I wouldn't worry even on this. I install the application, test it and see if she performs acceptably. If so, then I should stop worrying and go out for a beer.

  • Installation of Oracle 11 g XE on Windows 8 - work

I was able to properly install do like "Run As Administrator" and access to Oracle 11 g Express edition (32-bit version of windows software) based windows 8 OS 64-bit in my laptop. I came across a message saying some xyz... File KEY_XE.reg is not found in the Temp directory, I just clicked ok and I see installation is finished successfully and the services are up and running may access the database schemas. I got my new laptop and before installing, I've updated the operating system with all the latest Microsoft patches and started the download/install Oracle 11 g XE. Is there something else to test as a scenario/problem that you may have met to ensure that its really work?
I know that the underlying Oracle saying it may or may not work and I agree saw it is a free version.

    Thank you.

Certified are documented versions of MS OS for 11gXE - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm#BABGGAJA

There is currently no certified Oracle software to win 8 or Win 2012 - future versions of Oracle are expected to be certified - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/tech-info/sod-oracle-db-win8-win2012-1853201.pdf

I expect that the 12 c of the XE version (when it exists) will be probably attested with Win 8

    Hi all

I'm trying to install the Hyperion 11.1.2.3 below environment, seems I get a very strange error.

    Windows XP Mode environment:

    Details of the laptop:

OS - Windows XP 32-bit (in virtual - using windows XP Mode)
    RAM - 8 GB
    DB: Oracle 11g EE

Successfully, I have installed and configured the 11.1.2.3 Hyperion. After restarting the machine, none of the Hyperion and DB products do not work. I started the problems in case of problem and found below.

In Hyperion 11.1.2.3, by default, customer database ORACLE - 32 or 64 bit is installed as well as Services of the Foundation. I guess, it creates the problem, because in the slot location, it creates a listener and Tnsname files. You can see the new menu called Oracle - Oraclient3211g - OS user name and customer files.

Note: If I try to uninstall client Oracle 32-bit systems, it displays the warning message * ' customer Oracle 32-bit is required for EPMA - Server Dimension service, uninstall the product will break the EPM features ' *_

I checked the two newspapers (DB and Hyperion logs)

    One of the Hyperion newspapers:

ORA-12505, TNS:listener is not currently of SID given in connect descriptor

    DB logs:

ORA-01034 - ORACLE is not available
ORA-27101 - not shared memory realm leaves

The TNSPING error - TNS-03505 - utility could not resolve the name

I did reference two files tnsnames, seems some names are different.

Please anyone suggest me a good solution for this problem.

    Thank you

Installation on an operating system would be a good start because XP is not supported.
Are you sure this is the installation of the customer who caused the problem as it should be ok, has been the database certainly work after a reboot before the installation of the software of the EMP.
If you delete the Oracle client (also remove the window - TNS_ADMIN environment variable) then restart and check the database works ok.

Hi everyone, I need to know if Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio is in need of a customer Oracle for Windows installed

    Thanks for your time

Yes, you have the Oracle Client. However, you don't need to install the Oracle Client separately. ODT automatically includes the Oracle customer in each ODAC installation.

The next version of the ODAC have an ODT version that uses ODP.NET, successful pilot. This version is not longer an Oracle Client.
