Installation of Oracle 11 g XE on Windows 8 - work
I was able to properly install do like "Run As Administrator" and access to Oracle 11 g Express edition (32-bit version of windows software) based windows 8 OS 64-bit in my laptop. I came across a message saying some xyz... File KEY_XE.reg is not found in the Temp directory, I just clicked ok and I see installation is finished successfully and the services are up and running may access the database schemas. I got my new laptop and before installing, I've updated the operating system with all the latest Microsoft patches and started the download/install Oracle 11 g XE. Is there something else to test as a scenario/problem that you may have met to ensure that its really work?I know that the underlying Oracle saying it may or may not work and I agree saw it is a free version.
Thank you.

Certified are documented versions of MS OS for 11gXE - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm#BABGGAJA
There is currently no certified Oracle software to win 8 or Win 2012 - future versions of Oracle are expected to be certified - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/tech-info/sod-oracle-db-win8-win2012-1853201.pdf
I expect that the 12 c of the XE version (when it exists) will be probably attested with Win 8

Why installation of Oracle 11 g R2 on windows 7 X 64 suddenly disappears?
Hello
I want to install Oracle 11 g R2 on my windows 7 X 64 for training purpose however, when installing YES comes without reason. I already have the account user to the lowest level control and my domain account is part of the local Administrators group. I started as the owner of all partitions on disk as well.
I also checked the error log and got the following:

I downloaded oracle files from the download on the oracle Web site section and extracted to the same folder in order to install them. Then I've revised the documentation at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/em.112/e12255/oui1_introduction.htm#BABHCGAC and can find no answer to this question. What is more, on another machine with newly deployed windows 7 as the operating system, the case is similar.
Can someone help me with this one, or at least advise it what should I do to get this installation of Oracle 11 g R2 operational?
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards

Thank you for the information.
I'll download and install this version of http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win64soft-094461.htm
I follow the manual and check what is the sine qua non for the installation.YES creates a log file of installation that may contain clues about what went wrong.

Installation of Oracle Client 32-bit on Windows 64-bit
Hello
I am trying to install the Oracle 32-bit (version 11.2.0) client on a Windows 64-bit server (Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Service Pack 1).
It is my understanding that this is supported and should work. However, the Oracle 64-bit (version 11.2.0) client is already installed on the server.
We need the 32-bit client from an older application requires it.
The GUI for the installation of the client starts very well - but when step "Finish Installation" MISTLETOE evacuated all of a sudden. The installation log file ends
with

Am I wrong that the 32-bit client ths is certified with this version of windows? Does anyone have experience with the same situation?
Any help will be appreciated!

It is a symptom of textbooks classic does not have read and followed the original instructions to prepare the downloaded files. You should have two files zip files. They both must be decompressed in the same directory. If you unzip using Windows graphic interface - in right click on the name of the file and selecting "extract all...". "the default behavior will be to create a directory, the same name as the zip file and extract in it. Thus, file_1_of_2 pulls in directory_1_of_2 and file_2_of_2 extracted in directory_2_of_2. You must override this stupid behavior by default and specify the directory yourself. And specify the SAME directory for both files.
Or just go to a command prompt, change directories to the directory where the two zip files are located and deliver "unzip
" and "unzip ", and they will both be properly unpack to a directory named "database". -

Oracle 10g to install on Windows server 2008 R2 (6.1)
Hi all
I am trying to install Oracle 10 g on windows Server2008 R2 (6.1), but it gives an error that OS is not supported. I tried to install below version.
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4.0)
Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows Vista x 64, Windows Server 2008 x 64,
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 x 64, Windows 7 x 64
But it fails with the error that OS version 6.1 is not supported. On the download page, does it say for 10.2.0.5 patch of My Oracle support for windows server 2008 R2, I patch p8202632_10205_MSWIN - x 86-64 but it requires an oracle pre-installed home.
So, how can I install Oracle 10 g 10.2.0.4 don't settle and the patch requires a previous installation?
The reason why I want to install Oracle 10 g is our Java application is running in production on JDK 1.4 and Oracle 11 g provides not for JDK 1.4 JDBC driver, there is a JDBC driver for Oracle 11 g that can work with JDK 1.4?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Best regards!
Irfansimpler is to use IgnoreSysPrereqs - key to avoud system check.
more complex - locate the file oraparam.ini under your dstributive db installation directory and edit the stringWindows = 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 6.06.1

ScanJet software installs in German rather than English - a Windows 7 problem
I am trying to install HP Scanjet full feature and Driver for Windows 7 (32 bit) for my ScanJet G4010.
On the software download page I choose English (American) and then downloaded setup_full_G4010_14 - 5.exe.
My Windows 7 is in English. EN is shown it is stated in the taskbar. And to be sure, I went to the United States as my current location. However setup_full_G4010_14 - 5.exe launched in German. It offered no language option during installation. The clean install HP G4010-is in German and offers no language option.
How can this be? Well, I'm in Germany. I don't see how the installer or the installed software could not understand that I am in Germany, but the HP site could. Has made the website to slip me a German version of setup_full_G4010_14 - 5.exe despite my choice of a version to English?
A small experiment proved that my system Windows 7, not the site of HP, is the source of trouble. I ran the downloaded file setup_full_G4010_14 - 5.exe even on a Windows XP system and the installation program launched in English. The Windows 7 software and then installed on the Windows XP system, in English.
This shows that the setup_full_G4010_14 - 5.exe is multilingual, and my problem is that it incorrectly detects my Windows 7 as German. The software installed is not multilingual. I checked this glancing in an installed help file .xml in the Windows 7 install. It's in German.
How can I get setup_full_G4010_14 - 5.exe HP to think that my Windows 7 is in English?
Hello
Open the Control Panel, then go to the language and region.
On the Format tab, make sure that your PC is set to English.
Then, open the administration tab and verify that the local system is set up in English and not German.
Now restart your PC, open the HP software and check any change.
Please let me know if this is useful,
Shlomi

Failed to initialize the installation program. Error 110. On Windows XP.
Whenever I try to install LV6.1 or LV6.1 DSC Run-Time system, on my Windows XP machine, I always get the following error message:
Failed to initialize the installation program. Error 110.
I think it has something to do with the MSI or "Windows Installer". I tried to uninstall all of THE products of National Instruments, but it did not help. Any ideas?
Hello. Thank you. I tried, but in fact, it did not help. However, after doing a little research on our, I found a solution by following these steps:
1. reboot Windows XP in Safe Mode
2. double-click on the Setup program to start the installation process
3 cancel the installation process after it starts
4. restart windows in normal modeNow, all my applications of MSI with setup.exe work correctly! Quite strange. Just for the record: this problem was not due to a Virus protection program (as all assumed first that many people) and it kept me from running applications (MSI?) of ANY installer from a CD.
