Hello

I see a generation huge file in the following of my database server location. Is could someone please tell me what are these files?
What is the difference between log_n.xml and log.xml? I guess that these are all part of 11g.
[default](ncsdev11)/u01/app/oracle/diag/tnslsnr/<server_name>/listener/alert-> ls -ltr
total 2200298
-rw-r-----   1 oracle     dba        10485980 Jul  9 03:11 log_1.xml
-rw-r-----   1 oracle     dba        10485835 Jul  9 06:13 log_2.xml
-rw-r-----   1 oracle     dba        10486105 Jul  9 09:21 log_3.xml
-rw-r-----   1 oracle     dba        10485813 Jul  9 12:32 log_4.xml
-rw-r-----   1 oracle     dba        10485879 Jul  9 14:20 log_5.xml
-rw-r-----   1 oracle     dba        10486046 Jul  9 15:21 log_6.xml
-rw-r-----   1 oracle     dba        10486095 Jul  9 15:56 log_7.xml
-rw-r-----   1 oracle     dba        10485778 Jul  9 16:31 log_8.xml
etc..........
-rw-r-----   1 oracle     dba        3219668 Aug 30 12:11 log.xml
Are these log files? Can we delete these files because it consumes 10GB of my server!

Thank you!

Yes, they are log files that have been rotated off the active one.

You can remove the log_nn.xml files, since these are the old logs - assuming that you don't need them for verification or diagnosis of connectivity issues. The log.xml is the only asset and should be left alone.

  • 11g listener log location

    Database has been improved from 9.2. 11g and 11 g new listener.ora files have these 2 entries:

    LOG_DIRECTORY_csct = $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/log
    TRACE_DIRECTORY_csct = $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/trace

    However, it seems that listener logs written in these 2 directories

    $ORACLE_BASE/diag/tnslsnr/servername/DB_NAME/path
    $ORACLE_BASE/diag/tnslsnr/servername/DB_NAME/alert

    Why this is happening and how I can change back.

    Thank you.

    You change comes back with:

    1. in listener.ora

    DIAG_ADR_ENABLED_=off
    LOG_DIRECTORY_=

    2. stop and restart the receiver.

  • Advice on best practices for managing analysis listener logs and logs of the list

    Hi friends,

    I just started a job as a dba CARS for some big 24 * 7 systems administrator, I've never worked with RAC and clusterware.

    2 space issues

    (1) very large listener_scan2.log in the folder /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/ < servername >/listener_scan2/trace
    (2) bunch of files log_nnn.xml /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/ < servername >/listener_scan2/alert folder (4 GB out of stock)

    Welcome advice on how best to manage these short-term (i.e. remove manually) and recommended practice and the safest way (adri maybe not sure how it works with listeners to scan)

    Welcome advice and commands that could be used in these cleaning and a robust mechanism in place for the management of the log file in RAC and CLusterware systems safely.

    Finally should I check the log files in /u01/11.2.0/grid/log/diag/tnslsnr/ < servername >/listener_scan2/alert regulalrly?
    My experience with newspapers in the listener, is that they are only considered when there are major problems of connectivity and overall are ignored.

    Thanks for your help,
    Cheers, Rob

    Have you had problems in need for the purpose of investigation? If this is not the case, just remove them. Are the logs required for some sort of verification process? If so, gzip to a place where you can use your operating system from tape backup strategies to preserve their n-days. Once you delete a file active, he must recreate the file and continue without interruption.

    Hello

    Sorry can't answer you earlier. I have soved the issue of the listener. In fact, there were two issues one of them was the problem of the LISTENER and the other was the following: -.

    SQL > startup

    ORA-01078: failure in the treatment of system settings

    LRM-00109: could not open the parameter file ' / u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/dbs/initorcl.ora'ORA-01078:

    First of all, I solved the ORA-01078: LRM-00109: deliver and then I went to solve the problem of the LISTENER. Here is how I solved the problem LISTNER. It now displays the stable state. It does not change like the one I mentioned above: -.

  • The listener supports no services

    Hi all

    I installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 and Oracle network on a Linux infrastructure, then I created the orcl database.

    I've always been able to connect to my database using SQL * more or OEM. But lately, I am experiencing a problem when you type the command lsnrctl status , and so I am not able to connect to the database.

    My listener.ora file:

    Thanks in advance

    Your listener 'supports no service' is because your database is not and therefore does not not with the listener.  There is nothing wrong with your listening.

    The reason that is not from your data base is written in the startup error message.  "Seems to me that it cannot find the spfile (first file in the boot sequence) because it's about ASM and you're"unable to connect to Cluster Synchronization Service"

    Is your ASM instance started successfully?

    Why is your host sudheer.oracledb name but your file/etc/hosts indicates the hostname like sudheer.oracle11db?  These entries do NOT match, and that's why you can't find the host of the listener.  Edit the file/etc/hosts to have the REAL host name; you might be surprised that the listener starts to work.

    However when I connect to the database to rac with scan it works sometimes...

    not always...

    so I'm in search mode and finally, after many moons a lot and light years away, I found the following

    Here's what I did

    # - scan

    192.168.0.128 rac31 - scan.oracle.com rac31-scan

    192.168.0.129 rac31 - scan.oracle.com rac31-scan

    I put three ip addresses in the host with the same name rac31-scan file

    then I put the same ip addresses in my windows hosts file

    Here are the entries

    192.168.0.127 rac31 - scan.oracle.comrac31-scan

    192.168.0.128 rac31 - scan.oracle.com rac31-scan

    192.168.0.129 rac31 - scan.oracle.com rac31-scan

    but in the (windows 7 pc) client tnsnames file has just one entry

    It's here

    RAC1 =

    (DESCRIPTION =

    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = rac31-scan)(PORT = 1521))

    (CONNECT_DATA =

    (SERVER = DEDICATED)

    (SERVICE_NAME = RAC)

    )

    )

    and now when I connect from the client... it connects without any problems.

    I have tried more than 10 attempts without problem

    BINGO!

    One last thing. I tried to install the service of the APEX and the listener on a different machine with Oracle 10 g Express Edition. Here too, I could install APEX (according to http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/install.42/e35123/otn_install.htm#BABHHIJB), but when installing listening Service, a config went wrong and now when I run the database, OracleXETNSListener does not start.

    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\BIN > net start OracleXETNSListener
    OracleXETNSListener service starts.
    The OracleXETNSListener service could not be started.

    A system error has occurred.

    System Error 1067 has occurred.

    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\BIN > net start OracleServiceXE
    The OracleServiceXE service is now...
    The OracleServiceXE service has started successfully.

    Lsnrctl status+ gets stuck too:

    How can I return to the Oracle XE database original settings?

    Published by: user783239 on November 27, 2012 06:47

    Thank you, but I couldn't work, so I thought to nine. On my laptop, I uninstalled the database, restarted the laptop and reinstalled Oracle Database 10 g Express Edition.

    After a new installation of database, I did the following:

    1. check the opens the homepage (http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex) DB.
    >
    Home page of Oracle XE, okay. Given URL is wrong, it should have been http://127.0.0.1:8080. That is, without /apex at the end.
    >
    2 APEX installed with the following command:
    @apexins.sql SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP is

    Successful installation.

    3. without installing the listener, tried opening http://127.0.0.1:8080 / apex, but this time faces the same problem of blank page. The loading of the page, I see "Application Express Login" in the title bar of the browser, there is a source code when I view the Source, but the same two errors:

  • Oracle listener does not not on vmware server 2 guest OS Centos

    I write here because I think that this problem can be related to my network on the host vmware server setup 2 OS.
    I installed Oracle 11.2.0.1 on Centos 5.5 64 bits in a guest VM with a Windows 7 64 host OS. The Centos operating system runs well and the Oracle database that I created works fine locally (i.e. from a terminal in the vmware console or telnet/SSH window). The networking of virtual computer is set to bridged and I can ping the VM or ssh on the virtual machine to any other machine on the network.  However, I manage to tnsping database from any other machine on the network. When I try to tnsping from windows (with the input of appropriate tnsname) machine, I get a TNS-12541: TNS: no listener. When I try to tnsping from another Linux environment (with the appropriate tnsnames entry), I get the following:

    $tnsping demo

    AMT-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

    Here's my tnsnames entry in the linux environment from which I will carry out the tnsping (192.168.1.74 is certainly the IP address):

    DEMO =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = 192.168.1.74)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = demo)
    )
    )

    The name of SID is "demo" and the listener is running. Here's the lsnrctl status output:

    I must admit to be a bit confused about the 2 separate managers and the 'demoXDB.localdomain '.

    I copied the file listener.ora to a similar environment that works correctly, stop and then restart the listener, checked my repeatedly tnsnames entries etc. I wonder if the problem may be related to the fact that this environment runs in a virtual machine. Maybe some special network configurations are required for the NIC VM - I solved many problems of sqlnet over the years, but it baffled me. Any help is very appreciated.

    Any help?

    Thank you, you have helped many... :) (sarcasm)

    And I solved the problem... TIP: it's a 6.2 OEL config

  • Changing LISTEN Port

    Hi guys,.

    I am facing a weird problem. I have my speaker installed on 1522 and I want to bring back to 1521.

    Here's my listener.ora looks like now
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost) (PORT = 1521))
    )
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = CIP)(KEY = EXTPROC1521))
    )
    )

    ADR_BASE_LISTENER = / u01/app/oracle

    and my tnsnames.ora

    MyDB =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost) (PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = mydb)
    )
    )

    LISTENER =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost) (PORT = 1521))

    So I tried following
    lsnrctl stop
    lsnrctl start
    SQL > alter the registry system;

    [oracle@localhost admin] $ lsnrctl status

    So it's not registers all the services.

    If change the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora to 1522 port and repeat steps above.
    It shows all the services.

    Anything I'm missing, please help.

    Neo wrote:

    Take a look at the parameter LOCAL_LISTENER of the instance (pfile/spfile).

    It specifies how the instance should contact the local listener - including the IP and port.

    Null value will return to the default behavior (contact port 1521, current hostname).
