oracle client 32-bit to a 64-bit Oracle Server

Because of the requirement of a 3rd party application, I can have to use client 32-bit Oracle 10 g 2 on the application server to connect to a 64-bit (another box) DB server. The OS is Linux SUSE 10 worm. The platform is x 86.

-Is that degrade performance? Oracle has all the recommendations of such a scenerio? Searched the net without saving.

Help, please. Thank you.

No problem with 32-bit client (well at least not because of the length of Word anyway).

And if you have both, it will be relatively easy to test with a small application of demonstration OIC/ProC (no sqlplus as it is not a very precise measurement tool), but I wouldn't worry even on this. I install the application, test it and see if she performs acceptably. If so, then I should stop worrying and go out for a beer.

  • Error when import to Oracle table (OBIEE Server Client 32-bit & 64-bit)

    Hi all

Problem: ODBC/OCI connectivity problem between OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 server (64-bit) and OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 machine local BP1 client (32-bit).

We have an 11.1.1.6.2 BP1(64-bit) OBIEE Setup on a 'Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise' 64-bit machine.

OBIEE dev team members have 32-bit local machines.
OBIEE "Admin member of the team" (who will work on RPD) to OBIEE 11 g customer (BP1) installed on their * 32-bit local machine * (which is a common software for 32/64-bit).

Now, two ODBC connections have been created on this local 32-bit Client computer, client 11g OBIEE installed on it.
A "server BI driver" for the OBIEE server machine(64-bit) to open the RPD and other connection with "Oracle database driver" to connect to the Oracle 64-bit desktop databaseto import tables.

With this configuration made, I am able to open the RPD in online mode and mode sampleapp existing related objects present in it.
But when I try to import metadata to the client admin OBIEE tool using the BEAK or ODBC, it gives an error "connection failed!"

I have the tns required in my tnsnames.ora file entry and I am able to connect to this database on the local client computer, using sqlplus.

Kindly let me know if there are restrictions in the use of such a combination of settings for 32-bit machines and 64 bits for OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 setup.
If this isn't the case, so what are the steps to do the btw client 64 bit and 32 bit OBIEE OBIEE server configuration to create the table of import job.

You can try using the OIC instead of ODBC connection type?
Implementation of the native ODBC drivers is not always do the job.

Also, make sure you have defined the TNS_ADMIN environment variable.

OK, it seems that the file that you download site, VMware is corrupted by any reason. If you have two options:

    1. you can go to the homepage of vco server (I think in 4.2.2 it is http://orchestrator_ip) and using the java web client start by clicking on the link start Orchestrator Client

    2. go to the home page of the vco Server (if it is not http://orchestrator_ip/ that you can go there by clicking on the link in the menu of boot/VMware) and press download vCenter Orchestrator customer Installable and download the 32-bit exe client - it should work

  • OWB 11 g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0) for 64-bit Windows Server 2008 available?

    Hi team,

We have a windows machine *(Windows 2008 Server 64 Bit) * set for OWB development and where we have installed 11 g R2 Oracle Client. Now, we would like to install (Oracle Warehouse Builder) OWB 11g R2 (11.2.0.1.0) compatible for Windows Server 2008 (64-bit). But when I checked the OTN site, I only managed to find support for 32-bit Windows OWB 11g.

Can anyone suggest if OWB 11 GR 2 is able to support * 64-Bit Windows Server 2008 *?

I don't know if this is the right place within the Forum to post this question, so please direct me to the Group of concern (OWB).

Appreciate your support. Thanks in advance.

You should check the installation guide and the release notes for more information. You can also turn to MOS, if you have access to support, for the certification of product/platform.

Also did anyone know if a 4.6 view upgrade will increase the size of segment correctly if the RAM is increased before the upgrade to 4.5 takes place, therefore not having to do a complete reinstall?

    Thank you

On page 69 of the installation guide, it shows how to change the JVM for X 86 servers.  Maybe this will give you a place to start looking for your current size.  On X 64 if it has been installed with the 10 GB of memory, then would be a chunk of memory to 2 GB size and anything less than 10 GB would result in a segment size of memory 512 MB.

  • Policies WSM Oracle server or on the side of Client or both?

    Introduction:

I am trying to create simple web breaks of Jdeveloper 11.1.1.7. I created a simple class with a single method called sayHi() that simply return a welcome message.

Web servers has been created and tested on this is simple example.

    Questions and discussion:

Is there an option to configure or add police Oracle in BOTH client and server side. Why do we need to configure both client and server policies? Is it enough to set up the strategy in the side server only, so when any client attempts to call the method on the server, it must meet the requirements of the police in the server?

What do we mean by the addition of police in the client side? I do not understand, that is to say that in the customer side no one can send the request unless the policy requirements is met by the auto sender? Is that what the police has something to do with the side Server?

Political aside server are executed on the server side when a Web service request is received and before giving it to the service object Web corresponding. Policies client-side are executed on the client side after you create a new application and before submitting it to the server. In most cases it is not enough to set up a strategy to side server only. It is necessary to set up the strategy of 'customer' corresponding to the client side too, or the client, and the server would not release properly.

For example, you apply a security policy to the side server that requires a user name token validation, you must configure the security policy corresponding client on the client side so that the Web service client to add the token of user name necessary for the SOAP message prior to submitting the request to the server-side. If you do not configure this client-side client-side strategy, then the Web service client will not add a username token to the SOAP request, and the server will not accept the request.

  • SQL to Oracle Server

    Hello
I'll put up a link TO SQLServer to Oracle. I set up a linked server on the SQL computer (selects and updates and calling the work of the fine SP) and now trying to get a distributed transaction going on so that I can issue several commands and then validate the end of the process.

I'm as follows using as reference but it seems little informaiton about this sort of thing passed Oracle 8i. I use the client software of 11g on the side of SQL Server and the database 10g (10.2.0.4).
    http://support.Microsoft.com/support/ComPlus/mtsandoracle.asp?sd=gn & LN = en-GB & gssnb = 1

On the SQL Server side, I use OLEDB Microsoft (I have also installed the Oracle OLEDB in the ODAC, but I don't think that I need this because I plan to use the MSDTC Microsoft rather than Orace MTS). The doc cited above seems to say that MTS is not required, and to be honest I prefer to keep things simple and use drivers MS existing and MSDTC rather than install the drivers Oracle and OracleMTS, if they are not really necessary. Someone at - it not experience / opinion on this please?

The main question I wanted to ask you, is that I was wondering if anyone could suggest if there is anything I do on the side of the Oracle to get this to work - it seems to be even less docs on this end of the transaction. I guess there are different parameters that would be preferable to set in the init.ora to optimize or even to allow distributed in Oracle transactions? No doubt MSDTC must run on the Oracle Server? I have to update the settings [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSDTC\MTxOCI] to reflect the Oracle 10 g s Dll on the server?

Any help from someone who has done this, or links to recent docs would be appreciated...

    Thank you

    Rob

    Hello

No, it has nothing to do at the end of the Oracle server. Given that the customer is the MSSQL Server in our case that attempts to make a connection with Oracle and to transmit, and to query the data.

I think that you problem is solved, if you don't know how the naming model should be in the records of what you could do is simply go to ORACLE_HOME/bin directories and these DLLs will be residing there.

If your answer is resolved you could mark the response as correct ;)

SSH is not a technology allowing to connect to databases.

You will need to install an Oracle client on the Linux server, implemented a tnsnames.ora file that includes the necessary connection information for the database of Windows Server.

See the Linux 11 g Client install Guides here - http://www.oracle.com/pls/db111/portal.portal_db?selected=11&frame=

Then read through the 11 g Net Services (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/network.111/b28316/toc.htm) Administrator's Guide for an overview of connectivity.
