Oracle Database 10 g Client install question, firewall blocking java.exe

Hello

I am developing an installation in silent mode for the Oracle 10 g Client database and found that near the end of the installation (whether or not so quiet) the Windows Firewall prompts me to block or allow javaw.exe. The javaw.exe is under my file folder in a path of single folder every time I run it, because one of the files includes the date and time in the name of the folder. If I use OUI.exe to start installation then java.exe (not javaw.exe) is the program that Windows Firewall tries to block.

I tried to include wildcard characters in the registry values that govern the exceptions in Windows Firewall, but it seems that wildcards are not allowed. Since the full path to java/javaw is necessary, I'm stumped on how to this script effectively.

What I noticed though is that if you do not answer the quick Security Center block/unblock maintaining the install goes and seems to end normally.

So my question is twofold:

1. is it important for the Setup program if Windows Firewall will block java or java?
2 has anyone found their enterprise environment use WF in this way and has had this problem, and if yes what have you?

Thank you

So my question is twofold:

1. is it important for the Setup program if Windows Firewall will block java or java?

It does not matter. This seems to be an irritation.

2 has anyone found their enterprise environment use WF in this way and has had this problem, and if yes what have you?

Constantly. For now I ignore it, but I'd like to find a permanent solution.

  • Oracle database won't start - Interview Question? How to answer Interview in short-

    Hello people

I am Java programmer, trying to gear to Oracle DB, attended a few Interview.

So far in the Interview they ask this question "How do troubleshoot you if Oracle database is not running / does not start?

Since I have no experience in real time.

I would say that I'll go and do a TNSPING, check the Listerner.ora entries. If Windows I will tell me that I'll check Services.

but so far, it seems that they are not happy with my answer.

So I ask each of you to tell me how I should answer.

I know it's the open question but how should I tell them in a nuttshell.

    Thank you

    Matt

I am Java programmer, trying to gear to Oracle DB, attended a few Interview.

Since I have no experience in real time.

but so far, it seems that they are not happy with my answer.

So I ask each of you to tell me how I should answer.

I know it's the open question but how should I tell them in a nuttshell.

Well - until now I disagree with ALL of the other answers!

IMHO the FIRST STEP in ANY troubleshooting task is to CONFIRM that the problem really exists.

The KEY part of this confirmation is to get ALL the information available to the person reporting the issue. In an interview which is SIMPLE - the person reporting the issue is sitting right in front of you. So instead of running around like a chicken with its head cut off you should begin by asking a few key questions:

    1. you said that the data is not running

    a. IS IT supposed TO BE running - that would be my VERY FIRST question!

    b. How do you know this? A user did report it to you? Have you tried to use yourself?

    c. How do confirm you the DB was down? Have what measures you taken?

    d. What do you mean by DOWN? Stone cold dead? Running but not accessible to business users? Running but inaccessible to anyone including DBA?

    e. what other information you have about the problem? Have you checked the log of alerts? When was the last time it was running normally? What could have happened since then to bring it down? There were backups or scheduled maintenance tasks?

    2. you said that it does not start

    a. How do you know this?

    b. did you try to start it yourself?

    c. how the restart was attempted? how much? where (what machine)?

    d. what command they use? They use 'EM? Or a console?

    (e) what has been the result? What has been the response on the console (if the console has been used) what has been the result if EM has been used?

Your answer to that seemingly simple question should have been to about a dozen questions of your own like I did just above. There is NOTHING to do, IMHO, before getting THE news AND ALL of the one who reports the problem - that includes interviewers.

Disappoint my more great in interviews is when otherwise intelligent people are so reluctant to ask questions to get the information they need to understand and confirm the question/problem.

The above is why I "disagreed" with the other responses made so far. Certainly, the alerts log is important and must be checked. But it's a lot easier knowing what the person concerned (interviewer) know asking them just before starting to run. As far as we know that the interviewer was ready to tell you what the alert log say if you just ask.

My rule #1 in an interview: ASK QUESTIONS!

Anyone who is not asking questions in my interviews gets demerits. I can train someone how to solve problems and perform DBA tasks. But I found it almost IMPOSSIBLE to tell when they don't know something if they don't ask questions or tell me "I don't know".

If someone just asking these questions above this would indicate to me that they know how to FIND the information they need, even if they don't know yet how to use this information.

  • How to start the oracle database server and its client in windows 8

    Hi all

I am a new entry in this forum and I am a beginner with oracle database.

I always used SQL Server as the database, and it was easy to use after installation.

With management program configuration of SQL Server I could to start service SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) and the database server start!

With SQL Server management studio, I was able to launch the client application, then was to establish a connection to the server and everything worked great!

Now, how to work with the oracle database?

I installed the oracle server and client version 11g R2 in windows 8, but how do I start the database?... and how can I start the client application to query?

    best wishes in advance.

    PS: Sorry for my English.

If you are on the same machine, the only service that you absolutely need to start is the database service.  In your case OracleServiceSYSDBA (hmmm... How did you find with this name?).

For queries, you can use SQL * Plus which should also be installed.  If you want something GUI, you can use SQL Developer (you need to install separately I think).

  • If you install Oracle 11 g XE with active windows firewall APEX is dead

My first installation of Oracle 11g XE was carried out with the active windows firewall.
The database configuration was completed in bad condition because post install scripts did not stand because port 1521 has been locked.
You got the "Get Started" link did not stand ok and browser got an error page.

Allways install Oracle database with the non-active windows firewall.

You can read in the documentation, installation...

    2.1.2 the Windows Firewall configuration

If you plan to install Oracle Database XE on a computer running the Windows Firewall, which was introduced in Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, and then connect from another computer, verify that the firewall has not been configured to block all communication between the following inbound ports. These ports are the default ports that users Oracle Database XE.

    1521: oracle database listener
2030: oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server
    8080: Transaction oracle HTTP Server

but that apply to connect from another computer at your facility, not the installation process.
I think that the documentation must contain "disable windows firewall before you try to install.
Allways install Oracle database with the non-active windows firewall.

Or add the listener and apex port numbers to the list of exceptions.

Please, I would like to have an answer to the following questions:

    (2) not working in the NoSQL of Oracle database as a client/server? Do we not have to install the client on every PC that needs to use the store? How will we if we have a new PC? End users have a customer on their PC? I don't really understand where the client has to be installed.
    (3) you say: '30 replication groups are stored on nodes of storage 30, distributed on the two data centers' why 30 storage nodes? It should be 90 knots since we have a factor of replication of 3.
    (4) how can the customer get the answer to a read request? The customer directly reads the response of a log file on one of the replication node? Those that read the request was transmitted?

Topology is the location of the nodes in the system and that the partitions that they contain. By knowing the topology, the customer can contact the node holding the requested data directly.

Any application that wants to use the NoSQL database must have the kvclient - M.N.P.jar in the classpath. This pot located in the KVHOME/lib directory.

    (3) you say: '30 replication groups are stored on nodes of storage 30, distributed on the two data centers' why 30 storage nodes? It should be 90 knots since we have a factor of replication of 3.

If a request has been sent, the response is returned to the client via the transfer node.

  • Check the connection to a remote Oracle database

    Hello

I have an application that runs on a server that connects to an Oracle database on another server.  The application uses Java and JNDI to connect, there is no Oracle client installed on the server hosting the application.  The application seems to have been to connect to the database on the other server.  How can I check that the connection to the database still work from the server hosting the application?  Is there a software tool that I use does not require Oracle client must be installed.

  • Upgrade to the 10.2.0.4 release without Oracle Database 11g

Hi everyone, I need to upgrade the OWB Production current client version:

    Client version: 10.2.0.1.31
    Version of the repository: 10.2.0.1.0
Database version: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64 bit Production

to the 10.2.0.4 release, using the patch # 7005587 (uploaded on Metalink)

I have red as the Patch Readme and I found that it is necessary to migrate to Oracle Database 11g.
Now my question is this: can I apply the patch above WITHOUT upgrading the database?
The customer asked me if it is possible to continue to use the 10 g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 and upgrade OWB to the 10.2.0.4 release... Is this possible?

Thanks in advance for your help

    Alex

    Hello

In my view, there is some lack of communication happening. 10.2.0.4 OWB can be used with Oracle 10.2.0.5.
We even had OWB 10.2.0.5 running against Oracle 10.2.0.5

According to me, that there are some bad this info in the patch readme file. OWB 10.2.0.4 includes support for Oracle database 11g (as a Source). This is a major change incorporated in this version.

    Thank you

  • Comparing the data set of Oracle database local to the Remote SQL Server database

    Hello

I have a table in an Oracle database that is gradually being updated with a table in SQL server through the database link. There is a field "Date of creation" in the table in SQL server that I used to find the newly created records and shoot and insert them into the local table to the Oracle database.

Now the question is the documents/data in the SQL server remote can be deleted as well and I see a lot of files are already deleted and I couldn't find a way to capture the information of deleted data to remove from my local table.

    I tried

    SELECT id local_table

    where there is no

    (select * (or 1))

    of remote_table@database_link

    where remote_table.id = local_table.id).

And I tried to replace not exist with no so.

The problem is that the query is too slow with link of database for IN/NOT EXISTS clause NO. So, I'm trying to find an effective way to capture the lines deleted in the remote to remove as a result of my local table table.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Oracle Database 11 g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64 bit

    Thank you

    Chrystelle

    It is perhaps easier

    Select pk / * or sustitutive key * / from Oracle.tba

    less

    Select pk / * or sustitutive key * / from SQLSERVER.tab

This returns the rows that exist in Oracle but not in SQL SERVER-> delteted lines in SQL Server.

Another way is to create a trigger to remove in sqlserver and track in a table delete lines.

  • The CPU is not powerful enough for Oracle database 11g?

The CPU is not powerful enough for Oracle database 11g?

I installed the datatase Oracle 11 g on my host by using the default configuration of oracle yesterday. Today, I find some the alert message: "CPU usage is 86,79%, through attention (80) or critical (95) threshold.» The average value of the CPU usage is 80.85% and I have to wait for more than 10 seconds for opening a page of the EM.
My host is HP workstation xw4200. CPU is 3.4 GHz. No other applications on that host.
I want to know: what is the main reason for the shortage of CPU resources? Because the database Oracle 11g itself is exhausting CPU or because there are a few configuration issues?

    qkc wrote:
1 is it true that most of the CPU is exhausted by the EM control tool?

    It's quite possible.

It is also one of the reasons why we encourage people to drop EM Database Console and switch to EM Grid Control. The burden is then on another server.

    2. why this index has been added in advance by Oracle Corporation? It does not seem that each tool is set up perfectly in advance.

It was probably not required under ideal conditions, in which it has been designed and tested.

Why is your environment not identical to the designed conditions that use Oracle? ;-)

When I tried to install oracle client (Oracle 11 g (11.2.0.1.0)) client installed on Windows server 2012 standard edition got following error.

"ins-13001 environment does not meet the minimum requirements. 64 bit Windows 2012"

    So, I have two concerns.

    1. any solution to solve this problem?

    2. If I install 12 c Client, will I connect Oracle database 11 g (11.2.0.4.0) using 12 c customer?

    Please support.

    With our thanks

    Ngoyi.

Certainly can (and probably should) use 12 c client.  Oracle certifies customers until two major releases far they connect to databases.  Are all of my db 11.2.0.4, but I've been installing only customers of 12 c for a couple of years now.

  • What do I need install Oracle Database 11 g 2 for the Oracle 10 g database migration?

    Hi all

Would you be kind enough to help me with the following question!  I currently have Oracle Database 10 g on the old servers to my work and I want to install the GR 11, 2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Oracle database to new servers for upgrade.  I also forms, reports and Designer 10 g to maintain our existing applications.  So, I already looked in the Certification and found the following:

Latest version of the product: latest version of the database server window weblogic

    Form Builder 11.1.2.0.0 11.2.0.4.0 7, 2008 R2, 2008 10.3.6.0.0

    Reports           11.1.2.0.0                                           11.2.0.4.0                                                 7, 2008 R2, 2008                                   10.3.6.0.0

    Designer 10.1.2.6.0 11.2.0.1.0 xp, vista, 7, 2003 (all 32 bit)

For Designer, it is approved for a 32 - bit window, so I'm having trouble with the new requirement of system this window must be after 2003.  I want to take all of the availability and follow the Oracle certification (except that I will be given Designer because of compliance) as above.  I'm new with Oracle, and I don't know what comes with what to do it is complete.

    1. I'm going to install a database server (free 11.2.0.4.0 as described above) in a new server (2008 R2), then what I have to install the WebLogic Server with it?

    2. I'll install the generator of reports and Forms Builder (11.1.2.0.0) in another server (2008R2), so what I have to install WebLogic Server as well with her?

    3. what else do I need to install on this two server so that they work so that I can begin to migrate all existing data, forms and States more?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Remember that this forum is targeted to the Oracle Forms product, for questions about the database can be better answered in one of the areas of database.  That being said, here are my comments:

1 I'll install a database server (version 11.2.0.4.0 as described above) in a new server (2008 R2), then what I have to install the WebLogic Server with it?

A database facility didn't need of WLS (which I am aware). Consider what you want is a typical design at three levels. Database - average level (applications server) - Client (tools and end user).   Each level has nothing to do with the other installation point of view assuming that they are not installed on the same computer. WLS is a middleware software (medium level). Be sure to check the product documentation before performing any installation. The 11.2 DB docs can be found here:

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/index.htm

    2. I will install Forms Builder and Report Builder (11.1.2.0.0) in another server (2008R2), so what I have to install WebLogic Server as well with it?

Tools (Forms Builder, generator of reports, etc.) are not remote or web tools.  These must be installed on each developer's computer.  The installation of these tools does not require that WLS be installed first (on the developer's computer), but there is no need to be run unless the developer wants to apply locally for testing.  For a production deployment (multi-user), a similar concept will be used.  WLS will be installed first, followed by the forms and reports Services (runtime).  It will be on your remote server (medium level).  Software distribution you use will be exactly the same for the developer and the installation of intermediate level.  The difference will be in the options you choose during installation.  If you want to include manufacturers during installation, simply check the appropriate boxes when you are prompted.

Also, if you plan to use the forms/States 11 GR 2, I recommend not using 11.1.2.0 and instead use 11.1.2.2, which is the latest version. F/R 11.1.2.2 installation requires that you first install WLS 10.3.6.  You should refer to the product documentation before beginning any installation. Specifically, carefully examine the product Setup Guide and Guide to the system requirements. The 11.1.2.2 doc library can be found here:

3 what else do I need to install on this two server so that they work so that I can begin to migrate all the existing data, forms and States on?

Looks like you've covered everything.  The granular details will be covered in the Installation and Guides to the system requirements.

    My recommendations:

o ensure that each machine has at least 4gig of RAM

o ensure that each machine has a static IP address before you start any part of the installation.  This can be done without a static IP address, but you must take additional steps (see Guide to Sys Req).

o on machines where you plan to install WLS, make sure you have a 64 bit JDK installed first.  If you don't use a F/R 11.1.2.2, you must use Java 6.  However, if you decide to use 11.1.2.2, you can use Java 6 or 7.  Do not use Java 8 in all cases.

When it comes to the designer, it must be installed on an old machine.  In General, I do not recommend to use it longer.  Although there is currently not a way to full migration out of it, you can use SQL Developer to manage the db objects that were created/used with it.  There are several MyOracleSupport documents that discuss the issue.  You can search the Knowledge Base of MOS to find or contact Support for more information.

  • Client Oracle / 10 g ORACLE_HOME / very basic Question

    Hi all

I am a little bit confused about something for installating the Oracle DB and his Client on the same computer, Windows (Vista Business, 32-bit).

In the release notes, it is said (4.3), you can install the Oracle Client in the House of the same version as the database.
In the installation instructions, it is said, • "You must install the Oracle database Client in a new Oracle Directory." (Article 3).

FIRST QUESTION: OK even if the notes of publication wins installation, I'm assuming (am I right here?) you CAN install the client in a separate House?

During the installation of the database, there is an instruction to create the ORACLE_HOME environment variable. This is repeated in the installation of the hotfix. When I installed the client - in a separate House - UI deleted environment variable because "is not necessary for all Oracle products."
(I realized after the fact that the installation of the database and the client before installing the patch would have been better.) SO-

SECOND QUESTION: Should I create the ORACLE_HOME environment variable. and if so, for which the House, when I install the patch for the customer?

    Thank you

    Edited by: DonnaF May 21, 2009 10:50

When you install the client, yes it's true, it must be installed in a separate Oracle home. The only reason why I found to justify the installation of Oracle client under the same roof of Oracle RDBMS is due to the availability of administrative tools. In previous versions (9iR2) when the installation took place he installed Oracle Enterprise Manager as well as the RDBMS Oracle Home. From 10 gR 1, Oracle Enterprise Manager (thick java client) is no longer installed with the database, but if you need to install it, you need not create a separate Oracle home.

Now why you want to install the OEM heavy customer when DBControl EM is available in 10g? The reason because if you want to use Oracle streams, those can not be set in EM DB control, as well as the for replication option, it is not available in EM DB control. So you will need to install the client. One more reason? If you ever plan to set up Enterprise User Security and virtual private database, then will need you the tools to manage the E.U.S. and the OPM (Oracle Policy Manager). Those that are available only in java heavy client mode.

So, if you don't need these administration tools, and you don't plan to use, you can perfectly live with the RDBMS as is.
