Oracle hangs

One of our users is saying that its oracle hangs once or twice a day and you need to restart the application in his office.

Other users are very good and no problem.

R12 + 11 GR 2 + Linux 5.5

Please notify.

It's certainly a customer number and what you can try to do is to uninstall JRE and cache files, and clear browser history and then try.

If the problem occurs with all browsers on the same customer then most likely it's software installed or the proxy settings.

Thank you

  • Java plugin for Oracle hangs after the last update

As part of the requirement of the Oracle, we run JRE 1.7.60
To update firefox this morning and now the plugin is constantly crashing.

    Hello

Thanks for your reply, but I doubt that flash player is related to do with Java.

And the Java applet crashing in my browser, I guess, should not be linked to my graphics driver, especially since the only update that took place was an update of firefox.

In any case, Firefox for some reason any launches 2 additional tabs when executing the Java Applet (IE does not work). In the past, I'm used to close the first tab, since it contains nothing except an Oracle logo.
However, it seems that after the last update of firefox, if this tab is closed, it cause Java to crash.

Therefore, do not close the additional tabs by the Java Applet. However, this has never happened before, do not know what has changed in the latest version of Firefox to make it happen now?

  • Oracle 9.2.0.4 on RedHat AS 2.1 dbca hangs on 46%

    Hi all

I have a major problem with running with this version of Oracle dbca. Software installation went well, but whenever I try to create the db using dbca, quite simply, it crashes, here is the alert.log result:

    Starting ORACLE instance (normal)

    LICENSE_MAX_SESSION = 0

    LICENSE_SESSIONS_WARNING = 0

    Window SCN 2

Using the default for the log_archive_dest parameter value

    LICENSE_MAX_USERS = 0

    SYS audit is disabled

    and that's all.

Previously, I had a warning message in the alert.log on the heap, so I increased kernel.shmmax and then the message was gone, but still dbca hangs. It is using jre included in installation (1.1.8), and here are some operating system settings:

    cat /etc/sysctl.conf

    # Disables packet transfer

    NET. IPv4.ip_forward = 0

    # Allows checking the source route

    NET. IPv4.conf.default.rp_filter = 1

    # Disables the magic sysrq key

    kernel. SysRq = 0

    kernel.SEM = 250 32000 100 128

    kernel.shmmax = 2147483648

    kernel.shmmni = 128

    kernel.shmall = 2097152

    Oracle hard nofile 65536

    Oracle nproc 16384 soft

    Oracle nproc 16384 hard

Also, changed the size of block to 8192 (size of the OS being 4096), since dbca offered 6144 in the first place, but always without success.

If anyone has any ideas, please share it, I don't know what I should try. It must be this version of db, so new version is not an option.

After trying various things, the problem was simple: $TMPDIR variable has been set to a non-existent directory.

  • Oracle 10 g 2: hanging of session after "select regexp_like.

    Hello

    We use an Oracle database 10 g 2 (10.2.0.5.0) installed on a Windows Server 2003 (x 64).

Yesterday a simple query (select * from table where regexp_like (upper (filename), ' ^ [aA - zZ] {0,1} * $')) has been started but never came back. Any other question on the same table

runs without any problem. Trying to kill the session with "alter system kill session...". "the session has maintained the State of being killed (currently for over 24 hrs.).

Seems quite odd to me since Oracle has no need to restore anything - ist was just the select which was performed at this session. The fort of event wait this session

is "SQL * Net message from client. However rebooting the computer Client did not help either. The database seems to be in good shape - at least that does not session

nothing, don't. Rebound of the database is not possible - but certainly will solve this problem.

Any ideas or maybe a bug known?

Good question, system administrator Ask, they should have a windows administration tool (I don't know the name) which will allow them to find all threads of a process Oracle.exe.

I had a similar problem and windows administrator was able to follow this thread and kill for me.

  • Oracle 12 c of silent Installation hangs without error

    Hello

I try to install Oracle 12 c on Solaris sparc 10u11 and I ran into a few problems.

I have searched the Internet and that you have correctly configured the response file. I also created the inventory file. I made sure all installation directories have permissions and belong to the correct group.

I start the installation by running the following command:

    / Directory/Database/runInstaller-silent - debug - noconfig - ignorePrereq - responsefile /directory/database/response/db_install.rsp

The Machine virtual Java is initialized and that some configurations are made later, as the recovery of host name and the verification of some versions.

During this point, the installation crashes without reason. No errors are given to explain why the installation will not proceed.

The last thing the newspapers show is:

Anyone seen this before? I have googled and looked for the error, but I have not found anything useful. I have databases Oracle similar setup running in W3K on a physical box and that works very well and makes me think if it has something to do with running in VMware.

Any pointers/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Bad situation. You encounter internal errors, which generally require the help of Oracle support. Oracle VMware is not supported, so support will refuse to help him. They will ask to reproduce the problems in a supported environment, but here, everything is fine - as you say.

It's always a risk to run Oracle software in an unsupported environment.

  • Issue of Oracle SQL Developer

    Hello

The problem is that when I execute queries "heavy" through SQL Developer (v. 4.1.1.19 or back) the IDE does not meet any other action during the execution of the query (queries) (I can't cancel the task). I mean if want to connect to another diagram or choose an option from the menu of the IDE, then I have to open a second window of SQL Developer. Why is it so... Is this something I did wrong?

After further investigation, I think that the following tips will help you to avoid situations where a request seems to have been cancelled but...

    1. He continues to run on the DB.

    2. subsequent attempts to use or to break this connection are blocked.

    3. another action (as if we were trying to close SQL Developer) causes the interface user to hang completely.

Your first choice should be to install an Oracle client (full or instant) and configure SQL Developer in Tools > Preferences > Database > advanced to use the JDBC OCI/thick driver.

If you do not want to install an Oracle client and prefer to use the JDBC Thin driver by default, then adding this to the file sqldeveloper.conf to your installation should help:

AddVMOption - .net .disableOob Doracle = true

The full dump thread you provide merely reflects the fact that the request does not actually get cancelled, the login is locked, and any other attempts to use it will hang. Anyway, as long as the user interface does not block, even if a request did not get cancelled at the DB level you should always be able to do things like...

    1. open an unshared connection (Ctrl + Shift + N) of the worksheet occupied this connection.

    2. create another name of the connection with the same details as the locked connection and use it.

    3. open Tools > Sessions of the monitor for a user with enough power and kill the hanging session using the menu popup kill .

    I hope this helps.

  • Hanging application while created workbook XSSF (Apache POI)

    Hello

We have developed an application (using Netbeans) which, in a single windows is asking for some parameters, reading a few Oracle database data and creating a xlsx spreadsheet on the client side.

Everything works fine, but we have only one user (among 20 using our application) who has a problem. When the application needs to start creating the file xlsx, it hangs, the file is not yet created on the client side. This only happens on a specific computer

We cannot reproduce this behavior in our development environment, or in any other machine.

I tried to create a file xls xlsx (using the HSSFWorkbook instead of XSSFWorkbook) and the problem is not displayed in his laptop. So the behavior seems to be specifically associated with this problem. The Apache POI library used is 3.11.

Is it possible to track client (no right to administrator unfortunately on this machine) and see exactly what causes this problem only on this machine?

Note that only JRE is installed on this computer.

    Kind regards.

    Alberto

    Hello

After you find the error and cheking out how Netbeans using the path class the only problem that could cause the problem was an external library during installation of the JRE.

For some reason any on the laptop user, there was a library external xbeans.jar (lib/ext under JRE path) including and the old version of the XmlOptions class.

Remove the old library xbeans, jre lib/ext pot has solved the problem.

    Kind regards.

  • EDMX generation no relationships (EF 6.1.3 Orcle-NuGet 12.1.022, Oracle DB 12 c)

    The following starting situation:

2 simple tables with one relationship to the other via an ANTRAGNR

    Path to reproduction

    1. create the new empty WinForms project

    2. install Oracle-und EF-NuGet-Package

    3 update EF

    4 restart/reconstruction

    5. create the new EDMX file

    6 choose DB-First

At this point, very often crashes the Wizard (although the overall Solution has been built before)!

    7. choose the data source

    8 choose Tables

    9. new EDMX:

    10. without relationships:

Now my 2 questions: why hangs the wizard always without comment, and why the relationship went?

    Thank you
    Stephan

The problem might be how Assistant ODP.NET and EDM interact with Oracle DB version you used. It's a very strange problem.

It is more difficult to debug without a reproducible test case.

  • How to suggest a new symbol of certification: (as OCP *), which includes certified more than professional oracle performance and tuning?

    Hello

There are several versions Oracle has removed the requirement of performance and tuning in what concerns OCP.

You can get a separate ECO - Oracle Certified Expert for the performance and tuning.

However, databases there include performance and tuning in the basic DBA certification.

I understand there is an OCP (for DBA) and a separate OCÉ (performance and tuning),

but could it be considered as an additional symbol combining the OCP and OCE (such as OCP * or OCPE or OCP2).

We could always get and OCP for DBA and a separate ECA for the performance and tuning.

If there was an an additional symbol, then maybe selftest software would also create reviews of preparation for the performance and tuning.

Perhaps more people write books on their performance and tuning of certification.

Maybe Oracle would provide Web seminar Exam Prep for the performance and tuning.

    Thank you Roger

If there was an an additional symbol, then maybe selftest software would also create reviews of preparation for the performance and tuning.

Perhaps more people write books on their performance and tuning of certification.

That hangs high hopes on a couple of letters.  The problem, however, is not perception, but the economy. Traditional publishers must sell a lot of books to make return on investment in the costs of creating a new. Until they beat X-thousand books, they are in the red. STS and transcend do not have publication costs, but they still have to pay someone (probably a very expensive one) to go through the mind-numbing task of creating a bunch of questions / answers that are enough like the real exam to be useful, but different enough to not be do not cheat. They should sell enough copies of the review of the practice of paying for that person, and then more overhead before making a profit.

The main reason that I was able to create guides to study at the best prices is because they are printed on demand.  I don't have to recover the costs of printing a large number of copies in the hope they will sell. In addition, as I do all of the writing to editing to marketing of myself - it has no salaries to pay someone else. Despite this - I could easily do more initial money by running Oracle contract/work councils for the same number of hours that I put in my books and practice tests. I was called to joke with my wife I could do more by night shifts working underground, asking people if they want fries with that.

The problem with an author or an editor of creating a book especially for an Oracle performance certification (say 1Z0-064 or 1Z0-117), is that there is so much work involved in this than the creation of a book of generic performance Oracle or Oracle SQL Tuning book, but the very act of this direct to the test severely limits the people who can buy it. Those who study for 1Z0 - 064 could well but a generic performance Oracle 12 c book.  However, people in the market for a book of performance 12 c but * not * intended to take certification 064 are not likely to buy this book even though she 1Z0 - 064 on the lid.

There are not many hug of people with the knowledge and the ability to create these materials. This relatively small pool, it is there not much with the desire to do. This further reduced pool, there not much time for her - or at least of time they are willing to take more lucrative projects requiring their skills.

I found the problem, but it was not referenced in any of the newspapers. There was an instance of Oracle 11 g 64 bit already installed on the machine and 32-bit 12 c has been seen none of that.

I've renamed the registry HKLM\Software\Oracle key, installed 32-bit 12 c, then changed the name of key return. No problems during installation or post-installation tests.

  • Hanging of LCR import OAM 11 g

We are trying to import CRLs in the OAM console.  The CRL is valid, but we get inconsistent results, trying to import.  After importing a few (literally 2-4 files are quite low), importation is suspended - for example the small icon oval Oracle in the upper right just spins.

We were able to import authority CA root (DER) binary CRL, but then could not import other 'group' specific LCR.  We have downloaded the text Base64 files in LRC files and could import some specific members of the 'group' LCR, but then could not import the certificate root authority - regardless their format... DER, base64...

    The screen just hangs...

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you

Although the import of OAM Console does not work, we found that we could recreate the underlying jar file, amcrl.jar.  This is the file that is updated every time a new CRL list is added in OAM.

Since it is a jar file, we tried to circumvent OAM and create the file with 'jar cvf '.

-We have renamed amcrl.jar (and amcrl.jar.tmp)

-We downloaded all the CRL in DER (binary) and added to the jar.

-then moved the new amcrl.jar in the folder /config/fmwconfig

When we opened the OAM Console, they all exist in the list of CRLs.  Now... If we can test only with a valid or revoked PKI...

  • 4.0.3.16.84 - x 64 - hangs with "Waiting for Editor initialize."

    Hello

Just downloaded latest sqldeveloper with included JDK and works in this question every time I open.

    4.0.3.16.84 - x 64 - hangs with "Waiting for Editor initialize."

Not sure it's bug or something is altered in the preferences directory.

I've downloaded again and again open directory, still getting the same error.

Does anyone have a work around?

    Thank you

    Ken

    Hi Ken,

If you think that the migration of user settings was wrong somehow, try to rename or delete these files (or use the -Dide.user.dir thing noted below), then restart without a migration of user settings...

    %AppData%\SQL Developer\system4.0.3.16.84

    %AppData%\sqldeveloper

My standard advice on this kind of thing...

1 see if behavior persists after the removal of the settings and restart SQL Developer without migrating settings.

    2. see if (assuming that (1) does not help) allows to reinstall SQL Developer.

If the fault cannot be placed on a migration of settings / download / installation corrupt, then we can start to consider...

    3. possible problΦmes with older JDK.

4 OutOfMemory possible problΦmes that may be hidden by running only no Developer SQL from a command line console.

    5. a new bug.

So try (1) and (2) If you have not already.  Ignore (3) because you have the provided JDK.  Point (4) can be a problem if you have many windows to restore and did not mount the Xmx values in the file product.conf - especially if you use a 64 bit JDK.  And (5), if you have the urge, see...

    http://www.thatjeffsmith.com/archive/2012/06/how-to-collect-Debug-Info-for-Oracle-SQL-Developer/

And if you want to try (1) in a clean 'sandbox' unaffected by existing directories of user settings, you can always add one

    AddVMOption - Dide.user.dir =

    line to your sqldeveloper.conf file.

    Kind regards

    Gary
