  • Usb PCMCIA controller does not work with Tecra 8200

    Hello

I have an old laptop TECRA 8200 (Intel Pentium III, 847 MHz, 512 MB of RAM) OS: WIN XP with the latest patches. Because there is no USB 2.0 I bought a PCMCIA USB Controller (NEC Chip). The controller acknowledged, but XP is asking for a driver. The controller has not been delivered with a driver.

Does anyone has an idea how I could get the operational controller.

    Thank you

    concerning

    Fred

I mean, independent because this isn't really a toshiba associated problem, could you please put the name of the PCMCIA USB device?
I mean the manufacturer or something because if XP asks you a driver there should be one available, or?

Please, give feedback and what you could also do is to google for the PCMCIA device. The best way is often looking for the chip (in your case, NEC).

  • Cannot connect Tecra 8200 wireless network

I have an old laptop Tecra 8200, I recently bought a wireless router but I can't get the laptop to connect to it.
He sees the network and attempts to connect to it, but after a few minutes it stops and returns looking for available wireless networks.
The laptop uses windows XP with service pack 2.
Everything on the laptop is standard and I did no improvement to him so there the standard network card. I don't know if this is the problem and that is that I'm not sure what network card enough.

What card Wlan do you use?
Check Wlan card details in the Device Manager.

Looks a bit a problem of compatibility between the wireless network card and router.
Please make sure that your wireless network card uses the same Wlan standard IE. 802 11 B G etc. as the Wlan router.

What you could do is update the Wlan driver too.

  • Tecra 8200: After SP2 computer laptop installation keeps rebooting

    Hello.

I am running Windows XP Pro in my Tecra 8200 and decided to install SP2 (oh error) now, whenever I turn it on I go as far as a blue screen with the following message
    STOP: c0000135 {Unable to locate component}
This application has failed to start because winsrv was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

After my laptop keeps restarting - boots - blue screen again. I have tried everything to connect to windows to uninstall SP2, but I can not connect.
I tried to change the boot sequence (some ppl said that it was starting in LAN), I disabled the CPU Cache and L2 in the BIOS and still nothing. If I turn off reset on the failure of the system (as some other guy suggested) I just can't not anywhere either.

Unfortunately, I do not have the boot floppies so I can not format the laptop.

Now I know why that is happening, but the answers I get is to uninstall SP2, update the Bios, or to download patches, but I can't make one any of them because I can't get into windows, even in safe mode.

    Someone at - it ideas?

    Hi Hector.

If you cannot start in safe mode, and then unfortunately mode your only real option is to reinstall your operating system to the original recovery disks.

I think something went wrong during the installation of SP2 and this has led to the corruption of one or more of your system files.

I also recommend that you take a full backup of your system before attempting to do a re-installation of SP2 so that you do not have to depend on start-up in Windows to regulate if necessary.

Personally I take a picture full backup to an external hard drive using Norton Ghost before applying any big maintenance work on my own laptop.

  • Tecra 8200 - what computer laptop model number should I?

    All top
Can someone tell me how do I know what model I have? I try to download the drivers for my computer, but am not sure which series / model it is.

I have the following information on the basis of the machine:

    TOSIBA Tecra 8200
    Model No.: PT820E-05WQT-E
    Serial No.: 61276516 G ST820-0

It is a Pentium 3 machine, but is - this one: has / M / R / S series? So what model to choose after that please?

    Thank you.

Your Tecra is simply Tecra 8200 and there is no other model number.
Download the drivers, you can find on Toshiba page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads but under product type, you must choose option ARCHIVE.

You will then find option for Tecra 8200.

    Good luck!

  • HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx: laptop startup problems and lost product key

My laptop is not starting. I get the message "device not found Boot. Please install the operating system on your hard disk "." I tried the steps listed on the HP website (step 1: Hard reset, step 2: restore default BIOS settings, step 3: hard disk Test, step 4: reconnect the hard drive, step 5: System Recovery), but the problem persists.

Please guide me in the following things.
    1. What can be done to fix this? I got control of the laptop of one of the centres of local services. They said that there is a problem with the hard drive. I'll have to get the replaced disk. I have no other option?
    2. I bought my laptop in 2009. It came with Windows 7 Edition home premium. Now, I don't have a product key to reinstall the same copy of windows 7. Also, I am not able to connect to the laptop because of that I won't be able to retrieve the product key from your laptop. The sticker on the back of the laptop is not more readable. It hits the major options to retrieve the key. Is there another method by which I can retrieve the key? So far, I used to restore my computer laptop settings every time I need to format my laptop.

    3. the only thing I have with me are recovery disks (3 in total). These will be of any help in order to get the windows installed on the new hard drive? Other suggestions pls?

Looks like a bad HDD. Your product key of WIn7 which carried out the sticker on the underside of your laptop. You must get the HP HP recovery or 3rd party disc to restore your system to the rear. And there's a good chance your HARD drive is bad and must be replaced.

  • Tecra 8200 wireless issue

Well, this is probably a stupid question, but I have a Tecra 8200.
I have to buy something else for wireless work?

    Hello

This question is not stupid ;) as the Tecra 8200 was equipped as an option with the LAN card internal minPCI. This could be a bit confusing.
So in some units of Tecra 8200 WLan is already included in some Tecra s minPCI WLan card must be installed first to use WLan technology.

You should check your device manager if a WLan module is listed in the network adepter
If it s already registered then you n t need a WLan card.
If it s are not, then you must upgrade the machine with the minPCI wireless network card or with a USB WiFi key.

AFAIK the PA3070U-1MPC wireless mini-PCI card may be compatible with your laptop.

  • Questions Tecra 8200 (Extension power supply and driver display)

I have a Tecra 8200 and works with Win XP. No I have a few problems:
First of all, under Win 2000 and power only on batteries, you can select the speed of the CPU and the brightness of the LCD screen with a program called "Extension of power." Under Win XP doesn´t work "Extension of power."
The next problem I regnosize ist the graphics card driver. Normally, if I press "Windows desktop on this monitor 'erweitern'" (sound of the German word, I Don t know what we call in English (my English is very bad ;))), superior this text I can click on a text called "Use this device as a primery monitor".) But I can´t click on it.
I hope you can understand me and help with my questions.

(If some people from Germany or German-speaking people here in this Forum are? You can send me an email ([email protected]) or message (ICQ number: 271944753)

    Hello

On all laptop computers from Toshiba, Toshiba Power Saver is installed and this application is responsible for control the modules and CPU cooling.
The brightness of the LCD screen, you can set with the additional application called FN keys.
The FN + F6 or FN + F7 combination controls the brightness of the screen.
The Extension of power unknown to me.

I put t know what you want to do with the use of this device as the primary monitor, but I suppose you want to set the external monitor as the primary monitor. Am I wrong?
As far as I know it of not possible to set the external monitor as the primary monitor.

You can switch to the external display or you can use extended desktop on the second monitor but it of not possible to define as main screen.

  • Cursor randomly freezes and jumps to life on Tecra 8200 with Win XP

Tecra 8200 with Win XP Professional

The cursor randomly freezes and jumps to life after a few seconds, very rarely, I have to re - start.
This happens as well with the mouse of keyboard or mouse remotely.

Hope someone can help because it's driving crazy me.

    See you soon
    Matt

I agree with Akuma. Disable the internal mouse and external use only. I have old Tecra M1 with the same keyboard and in my case the problem was faulty Acupoint placed on the keyboard.

With the new keyboard, everything was OK again.
I recommend you to disable the mouse of the computer laptop and external use only.

  • Can I update my BIOS using a stick USB Mem on Tecra 8200

I want to update BIOS for the last level v1.6.
I don't have a floppy drive selectabay, just a DVD player.
Now, it would take 3 DVD to do this I assume IE duty in the order of the day for more BIOS later.,.
    v1.4 then 1.5V and finally v1.6.

Is the Board of Directors supported the start-up of a stick USB Mem, or a USB FDD.
Any thoughts on the best way to do it.

Is there a utility I could download and do it from windows...

My system is a 820E. Tecra 8200 series.

    Thank you.

I doubt that you can not do this.

Toshiba page offers a trad BIOS update that can be updated by using only the FDD drive.

Please check this update of the BIOS Toshiba how to document:

  • Tecra 8200: drive will read DVD-R or DVD + RW

    I have a Tecra 8200 under Win98.
It has a player SD-R2002 Rev A combo with firmware 1324.
He read commercial DVD OK, but doesn't read the DVD-R or DVD + RW discs (set booktype DVD-ROM) (I did not try other types).
Is that correct or is defective drive?

If it's broken, I would replace it with a DVD burner. Is there a writer who will adapt to this laptop?

I found some info on the SD-R2002 and it seems that this drive can write and read CD - R and CD - RW and read only DVD-ROM and CD-ROM

That's why I put t think that there is a fault. Of course I think that it of possible to order a burner for this device. In such cases, the best way is to contact Toshiba service to order the compatible device.

  • Tecra 8200 identity?

I want to update this NB as I barely had second hand. Info on the label does not seem to match what Tosh. ask me. Model number: PT8200E-05WQP-GR. P3 750 Mhz. I don't know whether it is an A2 A3 A8 etc etc. TA.

Why don't you find your machine it's because you´re looking in the wrong section.
Your machine is a little older and doesn´t belongs to the new generation of computers laptop toshiba. To find the drivers and BIOS update, you can choose archives in the driver download section.

Here´s some brief description to find your machine in the drivers section:

Go to the drivers download section and choose:
    "Product type"-> Archives
    'The family'-> Tecra-Archive
    'Series of products'-> Tecra 8xxx
    'Model'-> Tecra 8200
    'Short model number'-> PT820E

Then choose the operating system where you need drivers. The update of the BIOS is included in the list of drivers.

  • Tecra 8200: flicker of brightness of the screen on the use of the battery

I have a Tecra 8200 running Windows 2000 Pro. The problem is with the brightness of the screen flashes intermittently, all a few minutes when it's on battery. The Toshiba power saver utility seems to work OK. his answer seems to depend on remaining battery life, that is to say less than 50% there is no difference between 'normal' and 'long life' with regard to the brightness of the screen.
Superior to 50% there is no difference between 'normal' and 'high power '. There is no problem at all when running on the current.

Recently, I changed the battery; the original was a PA3062U-1 bar, but the news is a PA3062U-1BAT. Can that be a problem?

    Hello

The new battery is the right specification for this model of computer Tecra laptop and on I think that the battery cannot be responsible for this.

If you try what Tom suggested it please let us know about the results.
