    Good afternoon
We seek to implement the planning of the ORACLE. We had 5 years ago, but it was incredibly heavy and slow. My questions are the following:
It still sitting on a block storage essbase cube? or they understood how to use ASOcubes with it?
If it's on a BSO, it would mean calculations - improved speed?
Is there a limitation of size on the input forms?
How should you report out of it? You can use the Essbase Excel add-in? Or Smartview is exclusively used?
    Thanks as always

He always is on a database of the OSB, but if you have Essbase as well, there is an option to spin-off a cube considered ASO.

If it's on a BSO, it would mean calculations - improved speed?

It may or may not be depending on what you calculate. I will say that a good adviser to may planning ways to optimize the calculations

Is there a limitation of size on the input forms?

There is no official limit on the size of the form, but if you get too big, they will be more slow and cumbersome. The latest version 11.1.2.2 redesigned forms using ADF controls, it should be faster and more flexible. With forms, you can allow users to make ad hoc queries on their part.

How should you report out of it? You can use the Essbase Excel add-in? Or Smartview is exclusively used?

While you can use the add-in, you're better off using Smart View. Smart View will do almost everything the will of forms web planning do (you can bring up the forms in Smart View) and load from there, run the etc business rules

What is the name of the log file I should be looking for and where it is normally?

    Thank you

    If Windows have a look in /user_projects/epmsystem1/diagnostics/logs/services/HyS9Planning-syserr.log and HyS9Planning - sysout.log

  • Hyperion Planning book?

    Hello

Can you please suggest me a book for Hyperion planning... I am looking for a book that will help me during the project implementation planning and help me find out what tool...

is Getting Started with Oracle Hyperion Planning 11 or Look smarter than you are with Hyperion Planning?

    What is the best...

    Thank you!

I highly recommend you look smarter than you are with Hyperion Planning: create Hyperion Planning Applications. The authors are humorous and do a great job of you browsing through the process without treat you like a fool. However, the book is definitely a step by step guide that is based on himself. It teaches you concepts, but relatively linearly. So if you are looking for a reference book that you can open and find examples of 'abstract', then this is not the book for you. If you are looking for a good tutorial to start, as you might find in a classroom, then certainly give it a try.

The book is definitely aimed at developers but. Depending on your interaction with the system you may benefit more from guide to the administrator, or the two guides on the Oracle's Web site - particularly if your use of the system is less technical.

  • Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.4 - quick installation

    People,

I am doing a quick installation of 11.1.2.4. I got the URL below for Oracle installation guide. Just a small problem. I am unable to find 11g Release 2 database. Instead of this version can I use the personal edition available for download (12 c)?

PS: I tried to download Oracle 11 g Release 2 directly from Oracle's Web site and tried to install it. He failed.

Fast deployment of Oracle Hyperion Planning in Development Environments

    Kind regards

For quick installation, you really need to stick to the version in the documentation as it installs and configures the database.

Delivery of Oracle software, select Oracle database standard edition, then you can select Exit 12 c as alternative

  • Hyperion Planning - display of security filters

    Hello Oracle Hyperion Planning gurus,

I have a question. I have two applications Hyperion Planning. I've been editing filter security for users and have found an inconsistency.

In one application, the user name is present as a given name + family name, and in the other application, the user name is displayed as user name.

I tried to be consistent and change the view, but I wasn't able to find anything.

Is there a setting for this option?

I've attached screenshots for your comment.

    username1.JPG

As noted above, the username is indicated by first name + last name

    username2.JPG

As noted above, the user name appears by username.

Two applications are built on the same version of planning an application. Does anyone know how to change this setting?

The tables are generated by going under Administration tab-> manage-> security filters

    Thank you in advance,

    Luke

Have you tried the Administration > Application > settings

Display the full name of the user, change the setting to Yes/No and save

  • Hyperion Planning to Oracle GL

    Hi all

We need to load data from hyperion to oracle GL planning.

    How can I do this?

    Please guide me

    Thank you

You will need an interface with the intermediate table as the source and the table GL oracle as a target, it will probably be some transforming data from source to target card, I can't tell you this mapping as I have no involvement with your data.

  • Hyperion planning 11.1.2.3

    Dear all,

I watched the Webinar about the new features in hyperion planning 11.1.2.3, which, in my opinion, will take the planning for a totally different scene: particularly the ability to update dimensions, hierarchies and members directly to smartview, the ability to create on the fly in the workforce and the development of the capital, the new user interface to download data and metadata.the ability to use cubes ASO... This will allow to reduce considerably the workload and time of implementations, facilitate the process during the budget reviews

I'm really excited about this new version, I would like to know when will be hyperion Planning 11.1.2.3 available for download on the website of oracle?

    Thank you.
    Kind regards.

  • Hyperion Planning 9.3 BPMA vs classic

    Hello

We are on Hyperion Planning 9.3 (including all the latest patches). We are building a new planning application. Currently we donot have an ETL tool and it does not appear we will get for each other a few months up to what our new planning application is deployed into production. So in summary we will not have an ETL to solve the below problem.

    I used classical planning as an ETL tool to build my meta - data in recent implementations and have not had the chance to use BPMA. Recently, I started to get aquinted with BPMA and understand some of its benefits. However, I have a few specific questions;

    1. I know classical planning allows a manual creation of members, BPMA allows the same? BPMA should have flat file or table interface to create or add members? Our business users would be manual creation of some members, or for example to change the month of beginning or end of a "scenario". Thus, BPMA allows manual editing and push metadata?

    2. If an application is created using BPMA, they would have to interface via BPMA not classical planning and more. Is this true?

    3. I understand that it is possible to convert a classic application of planning in BPMA but 'NO' to vice versa. Is this true?

    4. Finally, a more difficult question, a more specific question that a little, dictates the choice for us.

My customer wants to each Department to make their respective budgets (noting unusual there). However, most of these departments 'Project' and more specifically budget for budget based on 'Project name' (which are unique and not generic) as opposed to "Project numbers" (is not a standardization project number as yet). The challenge will be "project names" in Hyperion Planning (unfortunately it does exist not in the ERP/GL because these are new projects).

Thus, although the finance team approves the budget of each Department, ultimately they like each Department would be able to create their respective names 'project' in Hyperion planning. And planning of such capabilities that support retail, etc. wouldn't work because they love resulting variance of "Names of project" and slice-n-dice from "project names.

Now if we had an ETL tool above would have been simple, that I would have just created an automatism to say pickup a file with "Project Names" from a folder location is pre-determined. However, because we donot have an ETL, I was wondering if BPMA could do the same thing, i.e., in way automatic pick-up a file to a folder and create members and refresh Hyperion Planning? Could the "batch processing" in BPMA handle this?

    Appreciate all your answers...

If you go down the road of the use of an ETL tool to integrate as a result of the EMP, so, my suggestion is ODI (Oracle Data Integrator)
I wouldn't go too EPMA up to version 11, otherwise you'll be on here post error messages
