Hello, I am running oracle 10g on RHEL4 and I want to connect to the database from windows client
somboby can tell me what are the minimum requirements

Thank you.

Hi Sanchez,.

You can perform the following steps:

1 make sure you have your listner running and listening to the right database service
2 install an oracle under windows PC client
3. try ping to RHEL4 Server
4 create an alias to connect to your server database RHEL4 in the tnsnames.ora
5 tnsping
6. try to connect to sqlplus.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

There is an option to download only client for Windows (and Linux I believe). It happens to be located along the coast that the downloads for you database make it as if you try to download the database and in the end, you will see an option for a client download only. The download only client that comes with the Oracle Universal Installer is a few hundred MB, not as big as the download of the database, but much better than the Instant Client download.

Anyone know if this what they have for 11g? Oracle has provided any patches in addition to this group?

    Yes that's correct.

  • Instant Client connection problem - Excel 2007 for Oracle 10 g

    Dear users,

I want help to connect Excel to Oracle.
I use Excel 2007 (32-bit) on Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit. I want to connect to a database 10g to Oracle through our local network using ODBC. I need to retrieve data once in an excel sheet.
There is no firewall or connection between my current computer problems, problems as I can connect to my machine, using SQL developer as a local client to the Oracle database that is located on another machine on the network.
I tried to make an ODBC connection, but Oracle is not listed as a driver.
In my view, what ODBC is the best way to do it, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

It is an Oracle 10 G database.
    I downloaded instantclient-basiclite - 64 - 11.2.0.2.0.zip a windows.x
I also downloaded the additional ODBC components: * Instant Client Package - ODBC: extra to allow ODBC applications libraries.

    I unzipped in a folder called C:\instantclient_11_2
The system path include one. I checked after reboot.
I placed my tnsnames.ora (that I copied from the server) in this folder.
I got it from the server: D:\Oracle\Ora10gR2DB\network\admin\tnsnames.ora

I ran the exe "odbc_install" and he told me that the ODBC has been successfully intalled.

When I went to the Control Panel, administrative tools, ODBC

    On the user dsn tab

I added a new entry. I chose the Oracle driver (previously it was not in the list)

    Use the following values

    Data Source name: OracleL
    123 description
The TNS Service name: I chose for my prod environment drop-down list. (There are two entrances with the name of the production, one uppercase and one lowercase)

    UserID: my user name

I tried the connection Test and got this:

    Unable to connect

    SQlState = S1000
[Oracle] [ODBC] [Ora] ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist

    Any suggestions please.

    Thnaks in advance.

If Excel is 32-bit (2007a) and the Oracle client libraries are 64-bit, it will not work. needs 32-bit 32-bit.
You should probably remove current ic packages and get the 32-bit instead.

  • ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection

    Hello

I'm getting "ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection" error trying to connect to the "PDB". Here are the details of my env and I do:

    Windows 7

My PC to install Oracle 11 g 2 Client (that's how I got this PC). And I already 11 GR 2 installed Oracle software and a local database that is named "ORCL" (whichdesignates currently the stop).

Yesterday, I installed Oracle 12 c (12.1.0) and created ORCL12C (CBD) and a PDBORCL (PDB). I connected to the PDBORCL as SYS and created user 'SCOTT '.

I am able to connect to ORCL12C (PEH) without any problem (SQL * more and TOAD). I can go to PDBORCL (alter session set container = pdborcl) without problem. But I get the error above (ora-12518 am) when I try to connect to the user 'SCOTT' created in 'PDBORCL' using SQL * more or TOAD. I want to connect to the user SCOTT and create objects in schema SCOTT, etc.. I get the same error, even if I try to connect to the PDB as user SYS (alter session command works fine).

I am new to 12 C. So it is quite possible that I'm doing something fundamentally wrong.

    Hello

I think you are the problem of configuring the following listener results:

    >

    1. (SID_DESC =
    2. (GLOBAL_DBNAME = PDBORCL)
    3. (SID_NAME = PDBORCL)
    4. (ORACLE_HOME = u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/dbhome_1)
    5. )
    6. )

    >

as you can see, you have defined an entry static listener for SID PDBORCL. If I read your message correctly, you are CDB Instance SID is ORCL12C and you're PDB is PDBORCL.

So, in my opinion, as part of the configuration is the problem. PDB is saved as a dynamic Service to the Instance that you added

an entry static listener for a non-existent Instance. And so you're static listener overlaying the APB Service dynamic PDBORCL configuration.

and that is why it does not work.

Look at the output of a registerd APB to a listener success:

    lsnrctl status

    ...

    Summary of services...

    Service '+ ASM' a 1 instance (s).

Instance '+ ASM' READY State, has 1 operation for this service...

Service 'PDBORCL' has 1 instance (s).

Hello. I install PeopleTools 8,53 Internet Architecture. Database server is Dabase Oracle 11 GR 1 material. Operating system is Oracle Linux 5. I installed successfully JDK7, WebLogic Tuxedo 11 GR 1 material and PeopleTools 8,53 10.3.6, in Oracle Linux 5.

I've been setting up of database PeopleTools8.53. Because the Wizard installation problem, I created PeopleTools 8,53 database manually using Starter named PT853 Oracle database instance. I have run the following scripts:

I have installed Oracle Database 11 g 2 client for 32-bit Windows in my Windows XP 64-bit. The installed directories are below:

    Server Linux machine:
    Oracle_Home: / home/user/OracleDB_Home
    ORACLE_BASE: / home/user/OracleDB_Base
    PeopleTools 8.53: /Linux/PT8.53

    Windows XP Client computer:
    Oracle_Client: /OracleDB_Client_Install_Directory
    PeopleTools 8.53: /Windows/PT8.53

What machine installed PeopleTools 8.53 in customer Windows, it is a step:

Select the location of the connectivity program directory:

What directory to select? We select the directory ' / home/user/OracleDB_Home "on Linux?
Oracle Client tools in Windows XP "Start" menu is used to connect Windows XP with Linux?

    Thank you.

The answer is «Yes, they use the tools of the Oracle Client installed on Windows XP.» The longer answer is that these client tools communicate with the Linux using TCP/IP database, etc., and exclusive Oracle TNS 'protocol '. This network communication usually occurs on port 1521, but you can configure your server to database for listening on different ports. Alternatively, you can do all kinds of fun things with forwarding port, tunnels, VPNs, etc. for the use of different ports and security protocols. There is much more than that, but basically these Oracle client tools provide utilities communication (drivers) used by PeopleSoft to connect to the database on Linux via the network.

    Thank you.

My computer's processor 64-bit, so 32-bit install PeopleTools or Oracle database server, there must be some mistakes!

No errors. 32 applications and processes will be running on 64-bit Windows. PeopleTools client programs (PSIDE, etc.) require the Oracle 32-bit client

What are the 'Oracle customer' in Windows machine?

'Oracle customer' is the "connectedness agenda" used by Oracle to connect to the Oracle database.

You mean besides install PeopleTools 8.53 in the Windows client computer, still need to install the Oracle database server in Windows client machine?

No, not the database server Oracle, just the Oracle client. You can download it separately from delivery for your client operating system.

  • Have to install the CAD Client AND the server software on the Windows Client computer

    Hello

I have a problem during the installation of the customer Oracle Data Warehouse Administration Console (DAC) on my Windows x 86 client computer.

    Architecture

    Applications server - A Machine (Informatica 8.6.0 + fix 4.0 & DAC 10.1.3.4.1 services) = Linux RHEL 64-bit
Basis of data server - Machine B (application Oracle BI OBAW data warehouse) = Linux RHEL 64-bit
    Client - Machine C (BI Apps 7.9.6 + Informatica customer customer 8.6.0 CAD) = Windows x 86 32 bit)

    Question

I had planned to install ONLY the DAC 10.1.3.4.1 customer on my 32-bit x 86 Windows client machine, as the CAD 10.1.3.4.1 server must be installed on Linux which is installed the Informatica PowerCentre 8.6.0 server application layer.

However, when I run the Oracle Universal Installer, installation options are greyed out and I have to install the Client and server products.

I don't want to do that. Why am I made to install both? Is there a solution?

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Have a great day.

    Kind regards
    Gary

Customer installation support DAC only on Windows is to copy the executable files of the area where you installed CAD using the Installer (say another windows box).

If you install the CAD by using the Setup program on the area where you don't want the client of the DAC, it will also install server DAC. In this case, your client DAC can be confused to
connect to the local server of DAC, so better avoid to install DAC and copy the executable files for the client computer DAC. Customer of the DAC must also the odbc14.jar and Informatica customer files
    to connect to Informatica.

  • Try to install Windows Defender says "found Windows Client Protection... »

    Problems installing with "Windows Defender"

While trying to install the 'Windows defenders' program, I was unable to complete the installation when a message popped up saying; "Found Windows Client Protection. Remove this product and return them to the installation to complete the installation. "I checked my computer for a program called"Windows Client Protection", but found nothing. I'm confused. What should I do to install "Windows defenders?

My operating system is Window XP, Service Pack 3, 32.

    Hi Mitchjr,

    ·          You have databases of security of Microsoft or Windows live OneCare software installed on the computer?

If you have two Microsoft Security databases or Windows live OneCare software installed on the computer, you will not be able to install Windows defender on the computer. You will need to uninstall them or do not install Windows defender on the computer.

If you don't have Microsoft Security Essentials or Windows live OneCare software installed on the computer then you will need temporary deactivation of security software installed on the computer and then try to install Windows defender.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
