Oracle options licensed 1:1 with Oracle Ent. Edition 11 GR 2 or pending?

Are the options of Oracle licensed 1:1 with Oracle Ent. Edition 11 GR 2 (for example, the CPU core multiplier) or the number of instances of database on a host? In other words, if I need to buy two licenses of Oracle Enterprise Edition for a single host, do I need to buy the same number of licenses Oracle Option (again, based on a multiplier of the CPU core). Or by the number of Oracle database instances installed on this host?

Someone has a link to an official options Oracle licenses document that States this? Found one for 11g, but it didn't go down in the weeds, saying: If there is no difference between the number of licenses required for an Option compared to an Oracle Enterprise Edition license itself.

Asked the Oracle licenses reference option

They are licensed 1:1 with EA, so 4 licenses EA means 4 licenses of the Option of partitioning, etc..
It's in the Oracle store.

    Hello
I found on the Oracle data masking Pack in the oracle web site:

I would like to know if the data masking Pack Oracle can work with Oracle Standard Edition, which is the license we have in my office. We don't plan to upgrade to Oracle Enterprise Edition.

I know that Oracle Enterprise Edition with the functionality of datamasking. Standard Edition does not.

I asked this question here because I chat with an agent of sale to Oracle's web site, but has not answered my question.

Yes, it's an add-on but only in Enterprise Edition.

Read this book to see what functions are standard and optional:

  • Installation 11.1.2.n Hyperion with a backend Oracle standard edition

    Hello

We did the installation on EPM with Oracle Enterprise relational database.  However, we have a facility with only a few end users and feasibility check if we can have Oracle Standard edition for relational need.

Please let us know if you have experience with the Standard edition, good or bad.

    Thank you.

You can use the standard version just not on purpose.

This is what features you require between standard and enterprise, have a look at https://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/editions.htm#BABDBGJA

If the features are not needed, then you should be ok.

    See you soon

    Hello

People say Oracle Enterprise Edition is expensive. But after connecting to Oracle, account I just downloaded the zip files freely.
Will I install it or not?
I have to pay for Oracle? or Oracle ask money later?
(I am a student and already I am using Oracle 11 g Express Edition, which is free, so please don't tell me to use Express edition)

My question is if I can use Enterprise Edition or not?
Or is that I downloaded a beta version?
Why Oracle Enterprise Edition is available for free download?

    Thanks in advance.

It's pretty simple. To download, you have entered into a legally binding contract with Oracle and must follow the rules of the contract to which you have agreed. Probably you have accepted the contract in http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/licenses/standard-license-152015.html

You gave permission to Oracle to make sure that you follow the rules of the contract. If you stay within the rules, you probably don't need to pay (extra) money.

If you have downloaded the form OTN, and not from eDelivery.oracle.com, the license, you agree to use basically said ' you will not give someone else a copy of the program, and you're not going to use it in production. " You can use it to learn, to study, and to create a prototype. "There are other things, but that's the basic idea.

That said, you can the agreement. You should take the time to read and understand. What we say on the internet is useless for you, if you breach the agreement itself and Oracle takes you to court for the money.

  • Remote client Tuxedo options/license

    Hello

I need to build an application that uses a tuxedo service. So I really apreciate if you can guide me through the options available. I prefer to use java as a language, but since I can't use jolt, salt or WTC, I think my options should be on the C.

Can I use java client with a java ORB that connects to tuxedo orb?

The tuxedo server 9.0 version and cannot use the JOLT: (.)

And on licenses, there is no option that is not required to purchase a license. If I just need to build an application client, here I paid for a tuxedo Server license?

    Thanks in advance.

    Edited by: user5744216 the dic / 10/2011 10:12

    Hello

Tuxedo client licenses are mainly included in the Tuxedo Server license, i.e., Oracle does not separately allow customers. You can have an unlimited number of clients installed.

If your Tuxedo application is a CORBA application, then you can use a Java ORB to connect to a remote server of Tuxedo CORBA. You will need to configure the ISL in your Tuxedo configuration, and then connect to Tuxedo using the Naming Service to interoperable CORBA provided by your Java ORB.

If your Tuxedo application is an ATMI application, you can always use a Java CORBA client, but you would need to develop CORBA wrapper for your ATMI services services as normal ATMI services cannot be called directly from a CORBA Java client.

You say that the Tuxedo server is version 9.0 (which should REALLY be updated at least 9.1) and cannot use jerk? I guess that's a limitation on your side as shaking can be used with all supported versions of Tuxedo.

The easiest option is to use a client workstation Tuxedo, but he would have to write the client c.

    Hello

    We get the following options:

1 oracle Enterprise Edition (EE) - will automatically "Oracle DataGuard" option. No additional licenses for Oracle DataGuard. We buy Oracle EE for both sites.

2 oracle Standard Edition (SE) - lack of 'Oracle DataGuard"option. So we can implement database pending.

3 oracle Standard Edition (SE) - lack of 'Oracle DataGuard"option. If you want to implement recovery site we buy Oracle GoldenGate for both sites. But we need to license Oracle GoldenGate for both sites

  • Separate option is not allowed with Order By.

    Hi all
I use a parameter in a query for a report like this:

    Select Name, Id
    of employees, emp_orders
where employees.id = emp_orders.id - table employees is the master
and (: order_type_id is null or)
    ((: order_type_id = emp_orders.order_type_id)) -: order_type_id is the user setting
    order of employees.seq_no

the above query runs successfully but it doubles the data for employees with more than one order, if it has two orders, as it returns records for same twice and if it is of three that it returns the same records for three times!
I tried to fix it by putting the Distinct after select Word option, but in this case, it gives me this error:
    ORA-01791: not a SELECTed expression

and when I remove the order by expression data duplication is gone like wanted!

How to solve the problem please? Thank you

  • Oracle APEX Performance on Oracle Express Edition

    Hello

I was wondering if someone can help me, I'm looking to change my environment hosted on a virtual server. The server running VMWARE Windows 2012 R2 and Oracle Express Edition with the latest version of the APEX.

    The server would be:

    3Gig Ram

    25Gig storage

    1 virtual processor

Someone at - he no idea how it would perform? I currently have applications with up to 200 people using the system at a point in time. Performance is critical obviusly and I don't want this virtual solution if I'll take a drop in performance.

Just to clarify, the only reason why I'm looking to spend are all my clients are located in South Africa and I am currently hosted in the United Kingdom. The shift would be seriously reduced if I moved to accommodation in South Africa.

    Thanks in advance.

    Andrew

    Hi André,.

I did a few tests of performance and scalability with APEX on XE with JMeter (https://jmeter.apache.org/)

The limitation of the XE is mainly database size (I think only 11 GB for user data) and max 1 GB for the database altogether instance.

When you use the EPG of APEX I started to run into trouble after 20 + sessions at the same time.

When you use the earpiece of the APEX, I was able to push a tot of factor 2 3...

After that XE has usually crashed due to problems of memory.

Everything depends on the application and how active users are their session but more importantly could give you a good indication that XE isn't the way to go for 200 users working at the same time.

Maybe check jmeter (very easy) with your application and the config to see when it crashes. SE1 could also be a cheap alternative.

  • Licenses that merge with different activation time

    Hello

I want to merge two different activation time license. I found that there is a solution for this http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 2006973

But some question appears in this operation:

1 time activation may differ by more than 30 days (a license has been purchased and activated in September and the other was purchased and active in June) type of licenses will be the same example - VMware vSphere Standard for 1 CPU with 1 year of support in version 5.5, how support for this looks?

    2. what type of license do need me for server with 2 processors with 8 cores and 192 GB of RAM, this license fits my needs? Is there a single license covering such a feature?

    On the HP site, I found only licnses for 1 CPU http://h30094.www3.hp.com/searchresults.aspx?store_id=11 & search_id = 67 & dept_id = 1328

    3. should I VMware vSphere Standard at least to connect to vCenter VMware?

THX in advance for any replay :-)

From vSphere 5.5 all basic and memory restrictions have been removed, and licenses are simply based on the number of processors physical Sockets (see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2064117).

What you must ensure is that the license key you want to assign has at least the capacity of the CPU. You can merge the license keys for the same version/edition even with different dates of SnS. However, this will not change SnS and end dates will always be displayed ion the MyVMware portal.

vCenter Server is optional and licensed separately and is necessary if you want to manage a cluster host, or use additional features (for example, the cloning, live migration,...)
