Oracle parameter file

Hello
my Oracle DB is 10.2.0.5 version

Linux Red Hat operating system

I need to change some settings in the settings file:

Some settings are below:
audit_sys_operations
AUDIT_TRAIL
compatible
db_cache_size
event
JAVA_POOL_SIZE
JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES
LARGE_POOL_SIZE
pga_aggregate_target
process
session_cached_cursors
sessions of
SGA_MAX_SIZE
SGA_TARGET

in path $ORACLE_HOME/dbs I have these files:

init.ora
initdw.ora
spfileorcl.ora
pfileORCL.ora
orapworcl
spfileORCL.ora

What step I have to do to change these settings?

Thanks in advance!

Have you read that anything posted here? All you need to do is

sqlplus / as sysdba
alter system set AUDIT_TRAIL=DB scope=spfile;
shutdown immediate
startup

Question: Why not use a pfile file?
Answer: Edit a file pfile is one of several unnecessary steps when you already use a spfile

Question: why specify scope = spfile instead of other options for "scope".
Answer: this particular setting is "unchangeable." Please see the documentation on this parameter in the reference manual. The "editable" property is shown as 'NO '. Perhaps the use of the term 'editable' oracle is a little misleading. This means that the parameter is not dynamically editable. Therefore, the scope of the ALTER SYSTEM cannot for the spfile, memory (the running instance).

Question: Why can I restart the database?
Answer: even once, this particular parm is not dynamic. Therefore, it requires a restart of the database to pick up the change after the spfile has been changed through the ALTER SYSTEM... SCOPE = SPFILE command.

  • On the variables to pass in the parameter files

    Hi all

    I would like to know if there is a way to pass a parameter from shell script to parameter files?
    For example my parfile is like this:

    FILE = / home/temp
    TABLES = (HELLO)
    QUERY = "WHERE SEQ_NO = '1'"
    STATISTICS = NONE
    LINES = Y
    COMPRESS = Y

    Now I want SEQ_NO as variable, can I know how can pass a parameter from shell script to parfile?

    Thank you very much!

    You must write parfile it in the shell script using the echo command

    PARFILE = ABC.par
    echo "USERID =...". ' > $PARFILE
    echo "FULL = Y ' > view # $PARFILE the > add

    of course, you can have the shell variables between «»

    Please note exp is obsolete.

    Hi all

    in fact, we aim to generate trace file for reports and a convert to text file using tkprof by simultaneous program unix shell script submit using fnd_request.submit_request in another program of concurrent proceedings. but all the reports that are created by using pl/sql generates the trace file, but rdf report does not trace file.

    Report generator Oracle 6i is used

    Oracle application is 11i

    List of measures are being taken to get the trace file are
    1.SRW. USER_EXIT (' FND SRWINIT' "); before the release of report
    2SRW. USER_EXIT ("FND SRWEXIT'"); in after the report

    another of the measures which are followed
    SRW.do_sql ("alter session set SQL_TRACE = TRUE'"); before release of the report
    SRW.do_sql ("alter session set SQL_TRACE = FALSE'"); in after the report

    Add the following line before the outbreak of report
    SRW. DO_SQL ("alter session set events = tracefile_identifier" trace 10046 name context forever, level 4 "=" REPORT ' ")

    Trace stops automatically when the report closes.

    In addition, what program submits the script fnd_request.submit_request... shell / pl/sql procedure?

    you initialize apps FND_GLOBAL. APPS_INITIALIZE before submit_request of shooting?

    Make a DNF: active Log Debug = Yes and check the table of fnd_log_messages

    Thank you

    OK, so you're not do backups at all.

    In other words, that your only option is to reload the database from the most recent export. This means that you going to LOSE data at the time of the last export, up to the current moment in time.

    As others have said, I'll say it again: export is NOT a backup strategy valid! You must run in archivelog, backup your database regularly mode (using the RMAN backup) and backup and Save (once again, with RMAN) all archivelogs generated between backups!

    But it is what it is. You have only export you took. So, you need to work with what you have. Given that corruption is file #1, which is the SYSTEM tablespace datafile, your only option is to drop and re-create the database, and then import your latest export.

    When you have done this, and you have a working database once again, go back and set ŒUVRE a REAL STRATEGY of BACKUP! Use RMAN, place the database in archivelog mode. Do not hesitate!

    Hope that helps,

    -Mark

  • Why not place the Oracle data files on local disks

    Hi, I want to ask a fundamental question.

    Almost any Oracle installation I've seen, data files have been placed on Mount points, disk etc..

    Is there a reason for this? Why no one does place for local disks oracle data files? I couldn't find the answer on the installation guide

    I ask this because I will install oracle (10g) on vmware and trying to decide whether to put data on the vmdk (virtual computer local disk) files...
    Is - this recommended? If not, why it is recommended to put data files to a disc of fixation for point/external etc..

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    People store data files on separate disks
    (1) bettter performance
    (2) the data can be in a centralized storage
    (3) if the OS crashes always files are safe
    (4) configurable with raid options
    (5) hot Swapping
    (6) easily can add additional storage

  • Install PT8.53 with Linux: the parameter file "init.ora" question CONTROL_FILE

    People,

    I install PeopleTools 8.53 with Linux. I'm confused on the parameter CONTROL_FILES in the file "init.ora". My SID is PT853 with the file "initPT853.ora". In the document setup 8.53 PeopleTools, there are 2 statements about CONTROL_FILES parameter like below:

    First of all, Page 161 task b 6-1-3: create an INIT < SID >. ORA file

    CONTROL_FILES = (/ filesystem1/cntrl1 < SID >, / filesystem2/cntrl2 < SID >)

    Second, Page 162 task b 6-1-4: creating paths of target directory

    CREATEDB10. SQL script:

    startup nomount pfile = $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/init < SID > .ora

    data file
    ' / u01/oradata / < SID > / system01.dbf' size 400M

    logfile
    ' / u01/oradata / < SID > / log01.dbf'M 70, size
    ' / u01/oradata / < SID > / log02.dbf'M 70, size
    ' / u01/oradata / < SID > / log03.dbf' size M 70;

    Control file references:
    control_files = ("" / u01/oradata/test92/control01.ctl "," / u01/oradata/test92/control02.ctl "," / u01/oradata/test92/control03.ctl "")

    When we created PeopleTools 8.53 of database using $PT_HOME/setup/PsMpDbInstall/setup.sh, we need to specify the mount point for the scripts createdb.sql, the utlspace.sql and the xxddl.sql. I use / U01 for all 3 scripts and create the directory/u01/oradata/PT853/manually.

    My questions are:

    Firstly, should the 2 items "/ filesystem1/cntrl1 < SID > ' and ' / filesystem2/cntrl2 < SID > ' CONTROL_FILES be the same with the directory path/u01/oradata/PT853/created manually?

    Second, should "/ filesystem1/cntrl1 < SID >" be changed to "/u01/oradata/PT853/cntrl01PT853.ctl and" / filesystem2/cntrl2 < SID > "be changed to" / u01/oradata/PT853/cntrl02PT853.ctl "in my case?

    Thirdly, how to create 2 files 'cntrl01PT853.ctl' and 'cntrl02PT853.ctl '? What are their contents?

    Thank you.

    I believe you are trying to create a demo database without understanding of basic on the RDBMS - your last question (to the control file) suggests.

    Work with your DBA on the part of database creation.

    Please go through the oracle database documentation to get a basic understanding of different files in oracle.

    Now, to answer your questions.

    1. Yes, anything you give in the init ora for parameter control_files file previously should exist while you run your createdb10.sql

    2. change any way you plan make the db files resident. Suppose you want the database in a path like/path/to/database/MYDB - to give him.

    3. you create control separately (in your case) files, the path/name of the file is taken from the init ora file and created as you run create sql db
    Content of the control file is in binary format: this is the heart of a database, holds all the information on the database, the name of db, file system, places change number etc...

    It also seems that the password file is not named correctly:

    Can I set a different location of OMF for DB standby as shown above? If so, how?

    Can I set a different location of OMF for DB standby as shown above? If so, how?

    Yes, of course you can. Each database is independent of the location of the OMF.

    On the primary:

    DB_CREATE_FILE_DEST: / u05/oradata

    DB_CREATE_ONLINE_LOG_DEST_1 = / u05/oradata

    The day before, you can set up as:

    DB_CREATE_FILE_DEST: / u05/SBY/oradata

    DB_CREATE_ONLINE_LOG_DEST_1 = / u05/SBY/oradata

    Then, set the parameter 'db_file_name_convert' and 'log_file_name_convert"on the standby database, so that any file added on the primary will be created under the value that you specify in the parameter"db_file_name_convert.

    It would be like:

    On autonomy in standby:

    *.db_file_name_convert='/U05/oradata/','/U05/SBY/oradata /'

    *.log_file_name_convert='/U05/oradata/','/U05/SBY/oradata /'

    The syntax is: db_file_name_convert = '',''

    Hope that your query is disabled.

    Someone has written, or seen, a utility to convert files of control of Oracle

    for the format of files?

    Thank you

    Someone has written, or seen, a utility to convert files of control of Oracle

    for the format of files?

    You are very lucky, I found a script that I wrote some time ago and which may help you:

    -- ----------------------------------------------------

    -gen_bcp_fmt.sql - generate a non xml bcp format file

    --

    -Settings:

    Name of the schema - 1.

    Table_Name - 2-.

    --

    Schema DEF = & 1

    Tbl_name = & 2

    HEADING OFF PAGES 0 LIN 120 TOPPINGS ein OFF OFF OFF EMBED RECSEP WORM FEED

    TERM SET OFF

    COL NOPRINT sq

    COL c1 FOR A15

    COL c2 to 99999

    COL c3 FOR A06

    COL c4 FOR 999

    COL c5 FOR A34

    COL c6 FOR A34

    COL maximum new_value _Maxid NOPRINT

    SELECT maximum TRIM (MAX (Column_Id))

    FROM Dba_Tab_Columns

    WHERE owner = UPPER('&&schema.')

    AND Table_Name = UPPER('&&tbl_name.');

    SPÖ & schema. ___ & tbl_name... BCP

    SELECT "9.0 ' c1 FROM DUAL;"

    SELECT ' & _maxid' c1 FROM DUAL;

    SELECT TO_CHAR (Column_Id, 'fm000'). LPAD (' SQLCHAR 0', 10) C1

    CASE WHEN Data_Type = 'NUMBER' THEN (Data_Precision + Data_Scale + 2)

    WHEN Data_Type = 'DATE' THEN (14)

    ANOTHER Data_Length end as C2

    , DECODE (Column_Id, & _Maxid, "" \r\n"", '',' ') C3

    C4 Column_Id

    Column_Name C5

    , DECODE (Column_Id, 1, ' ""', 'SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS') C6

    FROM Dba_Tab_Columns

    WHERE owner = UPPER('&&schema.')

    AND Table_Name = UPPER('&&tbl_name.')

    Column_id ORDER;

    SPÖ OFF

    Enjoy!

  • DB began with what parameter file

    Hi all

    Can you please tell me how to find if the database is started by using pfile or spfile.

    DB version: 10.2.0.3.0

    OS: linux: 5.4

    Thank you

    Yes, so he used a pfile to start the db. Note there is no pfile parameter, only * s * pfile.

    If it's a spfile, the database maintain the file chain this somewhere to be able to change it with the command line.

    On the other hand, with pfile, once started, the database does not know anything about the file used to launch. It cannot be changed with online ordering. That 'why it's empty.

    Nicolas.
