ORBI replace DSL Modem and router Nighthawk?

I have a Nighthawk AC1900 R7000 router and a Netgear DM111PSPv2 Modem and I was wondering if the system ORBI would replace both of them and give me greater coverage. Anyone?

Thanks for the reply. Think I'll stick to what I have.

  • Problem with access to the camera on the net via dsl modem and linksys router

OK, I read all posts here on what to do in this case and think I have tried everything. I have an Actiontec dsl (verizon) and a v2 wrt110 router. I can see the camera locally, but not on the net. I had it hooked to another place but with cable service broadband with no problems.

I think that the problem of my lie with ip addresses.

    Camera 192.168.0.115

    Router 192.168.0.1

    Modem 192.168.1.1

The port forwards on the modem MUST be set to port forward to the IP Address of the Linksys router. It should be only the modem IP can see, so it's the only place you can move forward from the modem. What exactly is in this drop-down list in the config of the modem port forwarding?

The problem is that there are two distinct here networks once you are inside your modem. There is a network between the modem and the router. Allthat is on it is the modem's ethernet interface and the port of the Internet router (or WAN). There is another network on the side the router as your PC's LAN, camera, etc. are on. All know the modem is how to get to the network to which it is directly connected to. While you could add a route staic on the modem to tell him how to get to this network, the modem must still know I have oprt route traffic to your camera to the router.

  • WVC80N / ActionTec GT701 DSL Modem and Linksys BEFW11S4 router no Web only Access with TZO

OK, so I know the router is a little older but the CD Setup Wizard did his thing, I the TZO confirm email acount and I can access the camera on the spot.  Needless to say that I can't access via the internet or I wouldn't be here.   When I check the router it's all parameters as it should and I guess I should do something for the modem, but what?

So if you do not connect to the internet with a DSL or cable modem, how you?  I guess the Setup Assistant would be see the modem and suggest modifications if necessary.

I need help, otherwise this puppy will come back... THANKS in advance!

I made the transition into the modem as you suggest.  Bingo it works! Thanks for the help. My new router will be here Monday (tomorrow) a Linksys of course, thank you Amazon to have it in stock.

BTW if someone will do the transparent bridging, I just did a few screenshots printed to make sure that I could go back if he's screwed.  It also helps to have your DSL username and password handy.

  • WNR3500L model after a power cut my modem and router stopped working.

I tried to unplug and leave for 30 minutes and plugged back but nothing has worked. Does anyone know what I need to do?

What are the symptoms that you get from the router? In the case the modem and the router something might have gotten fried. I would try different adapters on both hoping that power adapters are those who got fried. If you still have the same results its probably time to get the router and the new modem. Let us know what happens.

  • Reset the modem and router

I have reset my modem and the router and now my wireless connection log. No error messages either.

If you reset your router access point / wireless to factory default you have wiped out any customization that has been created for your (home) network? Two that immediately come to mind would be static by CMA IP address assignment and parameters of encryption without wire/password.

You must get a CAT5/6 cable and connect a direct connection to your router to go, and then make the changes that can accommodate a wireless connection that suits your situation. By default, most routers will not allow change settings via a wireless connection.

  • 8610 printer: printer 8610 kills modem and router

My 8610 printer is connected to my wireless network.  Whenever I turn it on it kills my connection by modem TECHNICOLOR tc8305c voice and data.  I lose wifi and my phone lines shut down.   I can get them back through the support of Comcast to reset the modem or usually pressing the reset on the back of the modem.  Any ideas how to solve this problem?

Yes.  That is why buy a router of high quality that YOU have full control over.  If you have a phone from Comcast, Devil buy your own modem also and save 10 $par month rental.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: I got a new modem and the router. I uninstalled the HP software, but wizzard wireless configuration is locked.

I uninstalled the software so I could start over.  Configuration Wizzard is locked and I can not understand how to get unlock.

    Hi @bobbalou,

Thank you for visiting the Forums of HP Support for a solution to your printer problem.

I understand that you replaced your modem and router, but could not connect your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one printer to the new network, because the wireless configuration wizard is locked. I would like to help with that.

Try to restore the default network before attempting to run the Wireless Setup Wizard.

    1. on the touch screen of the printer, press the right arrow to display the second navigation screen.

    2. press on the installation program icon.

    3. tap network, then press the default network.

If you are able to restore the default settings of the network is should allow you to run the Wireless Setup Wizard.

If you're locked up because he had a password set in place on the printer, you will need the password to access the server (EWS) of embedded printer online web to change the settings of the printer.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.
  • LinkSys 2500 connection to the DSL modem

    Hey all,.

Pretty frustrated right now.  I just moved to a new location with a DSL modem and uses the connection to the former tenant until my internet gets put in place some time now.  I can connect directly from the ethernet modem in my laptop or desktop, and it works perfectly fine.  But when I plug my router LinkSys 2500, it cannot connect.  I tried to restart the router, the router and the modem, plug the modem back in first, plug the router first.  Nothing.  But all I have to do is to pull the cable from the internet port and click on it in my laptop and voila! Internet.  My name is not on the account, so I can't call the ISP and see if there is no special branch instruction, but I think that it is not all just function power connect a computer directly on it.  Any thoughts?

    Here are a few options:

Option 1: Make sure that the E2500 has the latest firmware.  Then reset factory default E2500, and follow the instructions in the bridge mode:

    http://www6.nohold.NET/Cisco2/GetArticle.aspx?docid=28cee6a2fb0d4176a2210942d1d5836c_Setting_up_the _...

Option 2: Make sure that the E2500 has the latest firmware.  Then reset factory default E2500.  On the linksys configuration page, change the 192.168.2.1 E2500 local IP address

Choose one of the options above (but not both).  Once you are finished, you will need to power cycle everything (modem, router, computer restart.)

  • Best to use with Windows 7 and AT & T DSL modem

I have a Windows 7 computer and am also having implemented for AT & T internet DSL soon. I want to have a combined modem/router and I'm having a hard time finding anything that is compatible with Windows 7. Any suggestions?

I wish that the modem/router works really well, thank you.

I have an AT & T provided Motorola 2210 modem for a DSL connection, I at a different location. In this case, I do the configuration of the modem to the PPPoE connection and can connect to a computer using a wired Ethernet connection. The Motorola 2210 acts as a router and recovering a DHCP address. That works very well for a computer.

If you use a router make sure you put the DSL modem into a bridge or go through fashion and have the router handle the PPPoE connection. Here is how I have the Motorola 2210 configured in this scenario.

For routers that are compatible with Windows 7, see this list of Microsoft, although Jack pointed out, any router should work.

I use to manage my DSL modem via an ip address. When I enter FF8 I wonder where to save the file. Why and how can I prevent the FF8 to do this?

And now, whenever I'm in an ip address that I wonder if I want to download the file.

This happens when the modem server does not send the file in text/html, but with a different MIME type.

I tried adding index.html in the event that the server can send this file as text/html.

If your DSL modem has a support Web site, then you can try asking it there advice on how to configure the server modem.

original title: unable to connect to the wireless router?

    Hi Brandon,.

What operating system do you use? (Windows 7, Vista, XP?)
You receive any type of error message when you try to connect?
What exactly happens when you try to connect?
You receive an internet connection when you connect with an Ethernet cable?
There are a few good troubleshooting in this thread. I suggest to look to see if it helps at all:
  • Modem or router?

I know this will seem like a dumb question, but please explain the difference between a modem and a router, and when you use one over the other?

A Modem is a device to connect to a network of service providers, while a router is used to share this connection social network ISP among devices on a subnet or LAN. Thus, for example, number of connections DSL or cable home, will have a modem service provider that connects to the outside world, negotiates and manages all traffic between the world and your home. And you have a router (or wifi router) now allow multiple devices on your home network to share this worldly internet connection provided by the modem connection to your ISP gateway (it literally routes traffic between your devices and the tube of the modem to the Internet).  Nowadays many features combines a modem and a router in one device.
