OSPF on IPSec updates
Hello
I have 3 locations that this places is connected through the internet between them. We use ASA 5505 and 5510. It is possible to use OSPF or do I use IPP?
Thank you
Markus

Hi guys,.
Can I run ospf based IPSEC? (No WILL).
Marco,
Not really a bug in the right direction, paste the description.
He explains what you see and why people in the past have seen a different behavior. :-)

CSCtq94342 - Self originated, multicast traffic handling through IPsec tunnelThis is a documentation bug only.
Symptom:
A note needs to be added into configuration guide to specify that:
As of release 12.4(9)T multicast traffic originated from the box will be encapsulated into IPsec if proxy identities allow this.
Further description
A typical use case for this is when router is sourcing OSPF packets and traffic selectors for IPsec allows OSPF packets (protocol number 89, group 224.0.0.5 & 224.0.0.6).
As of release 12.4(9)T those packets will be put into the tunnel and encrypted.
At the same time, please be aware that using "any any" as your proxy identities is HIGHLY discouraged.
"any any" proxy identities can be achieved in case of using VTI configuration which is recommended if those proxy identities are desired.Hello.
I have a network where some spoke of routers (branch offices, all routers are 2811) to connect with the IPSec VPN on adsl lines to my office and an ASA 5540. There is also a central backup with an another ASA 5540 site where VPN end in the case of primary failure asa.
So at each router spoke there is a card encryption with these two counterparts. A default primary and the other as secondary. Primary and secondary offices communicate with each other via a line of metro ethernet.
I want to do is put a router behind accessible of these two ASA to two of them, and then create the GRE tunnels since spoke to the hub router routers and run the Protocol ospf or eigrp on them. You can see the configuration that I am creating in the attached jpeg.
My question is if it will work. It's going to be able to detect whether some were talking about lost the connection to the primary and correctly connected to the secondary and before traffic site? He really care what site connects the router speaks, or what he wants is connectivity from tunnel to tunnel only? And you prefer ospf or eigrp? All equipment is cisco.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hello!
First of all the forums is probably not the best place to ask questions about the design, I would typically tell people to run their Cisco SE ;-)
That being said, here goes. My two cents.
The concept is not without it's charm, even if it looks like instead of using two hub routers DMVPN you really want IPsec for ASAs unloading.
That's ok.
Standard IPsec, several counterparts etc while in in theory ensure the traffic is on the Hub...
How did you change between ASA and hub failure on the path of routing?
I mean say tunnels to ASA elementary school go down because of the failure of the ISP, how does the hub know not to send traffic to the primary and send it to the backup?
I can see reverse road injection + dynamic redistribution in PR as a possibility, not without its flaws.
Possibilibity another would be to run OSPF (via neighbor) across the Board (SAA can run OSPF on IPsec when you use nearby, because we avoid multicast).
It also seems that GRE tunnel(s?) must be from a loopback interface, which means the need for the ASAs where it is ;-)
If you don't mind a suggestion.
Why not have two tunnels WILL, of each spoke to two "hubs" (a hub behind each ASA)...
Two tunnels of all time might mean actually you can try to load sharing, balance the traffic on two location.
Just thinking aloud I don't know about the context and requirements.
Versus EIGRP OSPF. I don't want to start a flame war, so I would say it depends :-)
Especially on what you have in the network, that the final goal is etc etc...
Hope this helps,
MarcinA Site at IOS IPSEC VPN and EIGRP
Hello
I have a connection of remote site to base via a VPN IPSEC router. I don't want to run EIGRP accoss VPN. Howerver I want adverstise the rest of the network from the router of core of the subnet to the remote site.
The remote VPN subnet is managed as a route connected on the router base?
Configuriguring a statement of network to the remote site on the router base will cause EIGRP announce the road?
You are right.
RRI (reverse Route Injection) is the correct way to announce remote routes as static routes on the HUB, and all what you need to do is redistribute static in EIGRP, so she is redistributed in your EIGRP.
Here is an example configuration:
http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/ps6120/products_configuration_example09186a00809d07de.shtml
(It's about OSPF and IPSec VPN dynamics, however, the concept is the same for ipsec site-to-site and redistribution in EIGRP)
Hope that helps.

This is my first post ever here, on this platform, I have a problem to Setup GRE tunnel with IPSEC with OSPF tunnel... I have 2 sites connected to my HQ (Media is VSAT). I want all the encriptación data + Multicast Ospf enabled...
Can I do it with DWVPN using SDM - I did a single document to this topic but its all about IEGRP OSPF not...
Anyone please help me with this problem... If anyone NEED any other information please update me... I'll be happy to do...
Thanking you in anticipation.

Function of automatic update for the IPsec VPN Client
Hello.
Do you have anyone ever tried the PIX / ASA ' feature IPsec VPN Client Auto-Update?
(see also Document ID: 105606).
He wants to make sure that I understand this right.
The user will receive a popup of information telling him to download the latest version of the client? And then there start the update itself?
If so, this would mean that the user must have the rights of full adminsitative using a laptop.
From my point of view, full administrator rights on a laptop are prohibited - 100% and therefore the functionality would be totally useless.
Anyone who can tell me whether I am good or bad?
Best
Frank
Frank,
You are right, if the computer desktop or labtop is completely locked regarding the installation of the software the customer won't be able to install it, they may be able to download from the link that you configured in ASA, once they connect to your server ASA RA but with regard to the installation user's machine needs rights profile appropriate to be able to install it.

10.11.4 update broken native of Cisco IPSec VPN
All the mac in my company who improved to 10.11.4 now suffers the same problem with the lack of capacity VPN:
"The VPN server has failed. Please check the server address and try to reconnect. »
Nslookup shows the station cannot be resolved by the machine, but it will not meet demand vpn. Everything worked fine yesterday, the only change in the environment was updated last night.
In the dev forum search I see there was a bug specifically around this issue that had been "settled." Maybe this isn't the full case.
Same problem here!

Update? If it is an update of the driver, hide and get the latest drivers from the homepage of the manufacture. These drivers are better.

Bad VPN ASA injection road on OSPF when using remote access
Has anyone ever seen the ASA by inserting a bad road in a connection that has been set up with it? I'll explain more below:
I'm using a reverse road Injection. When access remotely with IPSEC (CLIENT) connects to the camera ASA, ASA create a static route to the remote access to the closest router for the SAA to come to this remote access. This itinerary is distributed on OSPF. OK, it may be a normal situation. But, the problem is when I ask another participant of this OSPF area, which is the road to this remote access (CLIENT), the answer is the router closer to the ASA and don't have to ASA. Does anyone have a solution for this? I tried to create a roadmap but that you did not.
If I understand your question, my question for you is whether the OSPF route to the remote VPN client is source by ASA or another device?
Is the IP address in the space I wrote ASA_ROUTER_ID ASA router ID or it is the router from another device ID? What I've listed below are an example of the output of "show ip route. The value in bold must be ASA router ID, if she is from the road to the VPN client. Other OSPF routers will forward packets destined to VPN to ASA client.

Hi all
I am trying to configure static IPsec tunnel between two routers. Router R1 has [no VRF] only global routing table.
Router R2 has two routing tables:
* vrf INET - used for internet connectivity
* global routing table - used for VPN connections

I have a version of cisco 1921 15.2 (4) M3 I install vpn ipsec and may have customers to connect but cannot ping anything inside. A glimpse of what could be wrong with my config would be greatly appreciated. I posted the configuration as well as running a few outings of ipsec. I also tried with multiple operating systems using cisco vpn client and shrewsoft. I am able to connect to the other VPN ipsec running 1921 both of these computers by using a client.
Thanks for any assistance

In your acl, nat, you will need to refuse your VPN traffic before you allow the subnet at all. Just put all the declarations of refusal before the declarations of licence.

Need to patch to get IPsec to start working in Internet instant Mesasenger - I fought this for about 3 months. I can't do a Messenger call for more than a minute before having to re - connect - it's driving me crazy - fix your product - Paul * address email is removed from the privacy *. Settings information (network security) Diagnostics that can block connections:
filter name: Messaging microsoft instant - name for the provider context: windows Instant Messenger - provider name: Microsoft Corp.Provider - description: Microsoft Windows Firewall: IPsec provider
Hi paulrhea,-What version of the operating system are you using?-You are able to go online with no problems?-Have you been able to use the Messenger without any problem before? If you use Windows 7 or Windows Vista, follow the suggestion given here.Try to disable the firewall for the moment and check if it helps fix the problem. If the problem is resolved, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the program for the settings that can be changed or if there are other updates for this program.
Note: Firewall can keep the computer worm, pirates etc. Therefore, be sure to turn on the firewall once you are finished with the test.
If it is Windows Firewall, see the article below:
Allow a program to communicate through Windows Firewall

McAfee update prevents Windows XP to load correctly
I have McAfee VirusScan Plus and I am running Windows XP Professional.
McAfee automatically downloaded one Security Center updated May 31 about. The first time I restarted the computer after the update, the display settings have been completely stripped - the display has been set to the lowest resolution possible and I was unable to change to a higher resolution. I have tried rebooting, but nothing helped. After the 2nd or a third time, I restarted and then got a Windows error screen which read: -.
"A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
Error code is referenced at the end of the message is: -.
STOP: 0X0000007E (0XC0000005, 0XD934D184, 0XBA516D44, 0XBA516A40)
Unfortunately, I have not made significant changes to my computer and don't have, so no system points of restoration and therefore can't do a system restore.
I tried to remove McAfee, but I was unable to remove it completely in accordance with the instructions on the McAfee site. I was able to remove via the Windows Control Panel remove programs, but McAfee software could not finish the job. I reinstalled McAfee, and the problem persists.
Fortunately, I'm able to run Windows in safe mode, but is obviously not a desirable outcome.
I'm running a Dell workstation 490.
CPU Quad 2.33 GHz Intel Xeon E5345
IE Version 8.0.6001.18702
Network card Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller - McAfee Core Miniport NDIS Intermediate filter
I was initially running SP2 but upgraded to SP3 - no help.
I noticed the following error in the event viewer:
Internal system of events from COM + has detected what a bad code back during his treatment. HRESULT is line 44 of d:\comxp_sp3\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp 8007043 C.
And, one episode (6/16 - unfortunately, the system logs only go so far back) of: -.
The next (s) starting or starting system could not load:
AFD
FIPS
Intelppm
IPSec
mfehidk
mfetdi2k
MRxSmb
NetBIOS
NetBT

Tcpip
I appreciate any assistance anyone can provide.
Thank you
Hello FishingToday,
I was looking at one other positions and returned to the dump to throw an eye on the modules loaded and noticed several drivers who were on the older side.
In particular, Mcafee seems to be updated. Following is one of their driver information:
2: kd > lmvm mfetdi2k
start end module name
b4bae000 b4bc0c20 mfetdi2k (postponed)
Image path: mfetdi2k.sys
Image name: mfetdi2k.sys
Timestamp: Fri Aug 06 17:33:20 2010<--- dated="">--->Other drivers of Mcafee have a similar date.
Now a thing about antivirus products is TO uninstall them in order to update, and then install the latest versions. Moreover, some of their components just will not update. It's because of their design.
Thus, in addition to other recommendations that have been made, we can do what follows here:
- Download the latest and McAfee. This should be free that you already have this version on.
- Uninstall your current version.
- Reinstall the updated version.
Wait and see if the behavior still occurs.
Full loaded module list follows. You will notice several older drivers:
