OSX does not boot sequence make

Hello

I have a MBP 15 "(early 2011). I7 2.2 GHz, 16 GB at 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM and it runs OSX El Capitan 10.11.3 Version.

A few years ago I have moved the "old" SATA HDD to DVD Bay using an adaptation set and installed an SSD as drive system (and added a few extra memory in the process). Everything worked perfectly up to one month, when all of a sudden, he didn't get through the startup sequence after you enter the system password. The process indicator basically stopped at around 60%.

Using virtually all options to restart the Mac as explained here (randomly): combinations of keys start for Mac - Apple Support , I was able to recover the system, every time, but after a few days or even a week the problem occurs again.

Some details of the event and recovery:

-Mac just stops and restarts

-You here the start-up tone and see the Apple logo

-Enter the password for the user

-Indicator process stops at 50-60%

Recovery process (do not know which of the following actions really toured well (or which combination / sequence!).) After each attempt to start, I have to do a hard reset using the power button.

-Try boot in SafeMode (screen remains white)

-Single user (screen stays white and you hear fan noise)

-Reset NVPRAM (no difference)

-Don't start with 'Diagnostic test of the internet' - no defect found during extensive testing

-Start in verbose mode (machine hangs after that "nspace-Manager-set-snapshot-time" will appear on the screen)

-Try to boot from USB key (screen stays white and you here the fan noise) to OSX bootable

-Start in safe mode (it then actually starts in SafeMode as expected)

-Do a reboot of the 'normal' system (result: MBP starts normally as it should)

Only yesterday (after the start in normal mode) the screen and the MBP froze showing this (actually using the Console application):

BTW - I did not see this during one of the other occurrences, so I don't know if this is purely related to my main problem.

My questions (and shout for help :-):)

-Is this someone has an idea what may be the issue and how to confirm this?

-In what files newspapers could / should seek to find the culprit (assuming that something related to this is actually connected)?

-What other tests / scenario could I try?

Thank you very much in advance for any help, comments or suggestions!

M!

It looks like a hardware problem (graphics card). This year 2011 many Mbps this error, he even had a repair action going. I'm not sure that this action is still running. Check with Apple.

    Hello

1 how long have you been faced with this problem?
    2. don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?

Start the computer by using the Microsoft Windows XP recovery console, and then perform a check disk on the file system.

To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Insert the Windows XP CD in the CD-ROM or DVD - ROM drive, and then restart the computer. Select the required options to start the computer from the CD-ROM or DVD - ROM drive if you are prompted to do so.
    2. once the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
    3. If your computer is configured to dual-boot or multiple boot, select the appropriate installation of Windows XP.
    4. When you are prompted to do so, type the administrator password and press ENTER. NOTE: In Windows XP Home Edition, the administrator password is blank by default.
    5. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER: cd system32
    6. type the following command and press ENTER: chkdsk /r /p
    7. remove the Windows XP CD in the disc drive.
    8. Type exit to restart your computer.

Important: Running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost

There is a Snow Leopard update that would probably help.  It's called 10.6.8 Combo update.  Download and apply.  Then discover iTunes.

I have an Inspiron 546 which will not end start.

When I start the machine, it beeps, stops and beeps again. The monitor shows the Dell logo and progress bar, with maybe 5% progress.

I opened the machine, cleaned out and reinstall the RAM a couple of days, after which he worked, but tonight he's back where two days ago.

I tell myself to clean the machine and the relocation of the RAM are not what fixed the problem the last time. Anyone know what could be the problem?

The F12 key would work even if the startup process does not seem to end? I know that I have tried F2 and F12 when I looked at the DELL logo and 5% on the progress bar, and nothing happened.

For now my office is working again. I came across another problem like this that left hear that maybe the battery was bad. I jumped out and it is stuck in a battery tester. It was, in fact, bad. I replaced it with a new battery, after which the computer starts and entered with a screen that has complained that there is a checksum error. I continued with the ability to load the default values.

Once the computer is running, I had to reset the date, but now everything seems to work very well, once again.

If I run in the situation of blocking POSITION again in the coming days, I'll try the F12 key again and you know what he says.

  • OSX does not automatically mount external drives for a user

I'm having a problem where external drives are not mounted automatically in one of my user accounts. This is independent of the format of the drive, ability, or port. Driving, if the drive flash, hard drive or SD card, must be installed manually in disk utility. It appears dimmed under external and I select the mount option. Once I do this drive works normally.

This only happens in one of my user accounts. Into account other external drives come up automatically and displayed in the Finder and the desktop. Users have permissions admin, no parental control is activated. The only difference I know is the user account that does not correctly use iCloud as login.

The details of the device/osx are:

MacBook Pro (retina, 15 inch, mid-2015)

    10.11.2 version (15 c 50)

So far I have used first aid on my boot drive, run Apple Diagnostics (no problem found) and reset the NVRAM.

Please read this message before doing anything.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It is unlikely to solve your problem. Don't be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

The test is intended to determine if the problem is caused by a third-party software that loads automatically at startup or logon, by a device, by a police conflict or corruption of system files or some system caches.

Disconnect all devices wired except those required to test and remove all the expansion cards from secondary market, as appropriate. Start in safe mode and log on to the account of the problem.

Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or an earlier version, or if a firmware password is defined, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can not do this. Ask for additional instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to boot and run as normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things work at all, including an audio output and a Wi - Fi connection on some models. The next normal boot can also be a bit slow.

The login screen is displayed even if you usually connect automatically. You need your password to log on. If you have forgotten the password, you will have to reset it before you begin.

Test in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and make sure you always have the problem. View the results of the test.

  • EliteDesk 800 G1: EliteDesk 800 G1 does not boot UEFI disks immediately after-> UEFI BIOS change

I am changing our configuration of the BIOS boot in the UEFI. I tried to simplify the problem.

I boot via PXE BIOS of SCCM task sequence and perform following actions:

    1. Apply UEFI Secure Boot configuration with BiosConfigUtility (enable Secure Boot, boot which is ignored anyway... order)
    2. Fixed disk partition type as TPG
    3. Create Fat32 partition to boot EFI and an NTFS volume for the data
    4. Apply WinPE to NTFS and copy the boot (bcdboot) in Fat32 files
    5. Set the volume to Fat32 as ESP
    6. Reset

Now BIOS does not allow me to start this disc. Disk appears in 'Device Configuration', but not in the boot order.

If I start again to PXE (now in mode UEFI) and check the contents of the disc, everything seems in order. If I reapply my script to repeat steps 4 and 5, and then the next time the disc will apper in the boot and boot order.

If before the first attempt of UEFI, I put in a known UEFI boot disk, the system does not start it no more.

I think that there is a bug in the BIOS.

I saw something similar with Z620. When to apply some config past to the BIOS, the system is no longer shows startup valid drives in the boot order (this attempt was in BIOS mode). Emulation of the RAID controller is switched back to AHCI has worked around him then. But this time I'm not emulation of the controller.

As BiosConfigUtility reports that it has fixed start changes but when reading them back (before or after the restart, they are the same). It's not as important, but

My repro led nowhere (successful boot) but I was hired by HP support and all by responding to their email, I accidentally found the question.

My BIOS setup script was a command to disable temporarily BitLocker if configuration is repeated his request for a system that is already deployed.

    manage-bde-protectors-disable c:

However, this had inexplicably FAT32 partition become encrypted. If I started to UEFI PXE SCCM WinPE on the next boot, silently erased WinPE encryption and system would be on hard disk again, causing confusion.

But when, for a test, I booted a Linux LiveCD, it showed encryption.

I guess it's been like this for a while but only in this case C: was be the UEFI boot partition (usually it's system partition). In hindsight, my repro of WinPE image have also components BitLocker...

I deleted command BitLocker and now it starts normally on hard drive after the configuration change. Detective Conan for time to engage the support of Microsoft and HP...

This error means that the registry is damaged.

The registry consists of the following files:

    c:\windows\system32\config\system

  • Installing the graphics card... System does not boot

    Hello

I received a HP P6-2387ea today (I5, 8 gb, H61 Chipset) with the intention to introduce a new GeForce660 inside that also happened today.

The PC boots up well with its default material and very well with my addition of a 500 watt PSU... However, when I add in the GeForce 660 does not start, I am rather greeted by 6 beeps to the bios, which is obviously not a good thing.

My first thought was gpu at fault, but I tested it on another machine and it works fine. I also took a GeForce 460 of this old machine and tried in the new HP one, same result.

I'm missing something here, or I have a faulty card or something?

(To avoid responses of stupidity, yes the 500w PSU is a lot and the appropriate pci-e 6pins were attached).

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

First response to your title question is "no, your motherboard is not broken.

    Try this:

Boot into the bios and go to the Secure --> Secure Boot Configuration topics. Now disable secure boot and turn on legacy mode. Now let's see if the PC will start using the material existing HP before you make any changes. If the PC starts, then try just a video card.

View your results.  I have a suspicion about what the issue is for the motherboards that are active UEFI.

    --------------------------------------------

    Side note:

It seems someone is trying to find an answer to this question using different HP computers as a way to find the answer when the PC is delivered W8 and active UEFI.

  • System does not boot, get the white screen after preparation for auto repair

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite with Windows 8 and yesterday there were some ongoing update and must restart.  When the computer reboots, it took some time and then I got a blue screen (very quickly) who said something as she encountered a problem and needs to fix (it is really fast and I can't see the whole text).  Then goes and comes back as it is booting (with the toshiba logo) and he says prepare auto repair.  Then it goes to a white screen. I tried to get into the HARD drive recovery (power with F12) and when I select HDD Recovery and confirm Yes, it just goes to a blank screen.  I went into the Setup utility (powering now F2 while) and has chosen default install and who does not either (although it has fixed the problem with my keyboard backlight does not). Support of Toshiba said that it is the operating system, not the hard drive.  But I need a drive recovery media that will scan all.  Anyone know other options?  I have a disc of recovery of a Microsoft coming 8 Pro (dell).  Would it be an option, to use it (I got it on a flash drive) and start-up of that?  Thanks for the help.

    Hi John,.

    Thank you for the update.

Given that you want to use the Windows 8.1 recovery disk, you won't perhaps able to start Windows 8 using Windows 8.1 because the computer may not be able to find the files of Windows 8 start to recover.

Yes, you pouvez install 8.1 Windows using the recovery disk. However, you may not be able to perform the upgrade option when installing Windows 8.1. When you click install now and follow the instructions, you must choose the Custom Advanced option to continue installation. Choose Advanced custom options will create a folder in the C: drive (or any other partition when you do not want to install) named the Windows.old folder which expected to have all of your files and documents of previous installation and are accessible.

Make sure you have the drivers available for the devices installed on the computer as network card, drivers etc. of video card you install Windows 8.1.

Hope the information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

    Thank you.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - system does not boot

    Hello

    wondering if someone could help?
My Satellite Pro A200 with windows XP does not start. It starts with the Toshiba screen.
Then goes to a screen black with text where it says "PXEE61 media test failure - check cable" (I have no cable) then said out of PXErom; moves to the next screen, which lists the options: safe mode; safe mode with networking; safe mode with prompt local; Last Configeration well-known; Start windows normally.

Which have been tried and results in loading from page turns on for about 20 seconds, then just to abandon and trying all the whole process again (before flashing a blue screen) Windows.

Nothing seems to work - tried to take the battery on a... number oftimes and the power cable, but nothing helps.
It's already happened, but after a few false starts gets going - but this time he just don't come out it. I could not take others where locally, but I would prefer not to because I live in Spain and need the laptop as soon as possible and do not know, I want to leave it in some otherwise are hands to the risk of wipe them the hard drive.

So, I would be very grateful for any help as soon as possible and I fear tech short hand maybe having to explain.

    Thanks a lot, a lot.

    Hello

I think the problem is that the operating system is not found on the HARD drive.

The test failure PXEE61 media - check the cable appears especially if the laptop tries to boot from LAN.

Why the laptop is trying to boot from the local network?

    Well,.

-option may be the LAN was chosen first in the boot order in the BIOS
-Maybe the drive is defective and so the laptop is trying to boot from LAN
-the MBR (master boot record) is may be defective

I think you should take the Toshiba Recovery CD and need to format the HARD drive and needs to be reinstalled the operating system.
    This should help.

If not, then the HARD drive could malfunction and should be replaced!

  • System does not boot after CHKDSK

Reference Dell 745, XP SP3, fully patched. Had not run CHKDSK in 5 years, machine has been in use, thought it might be a good idea. NOT!

I plan to CHKDSK/F, he ran at the next startup, then I get the splash screen, then black screen, nothing else. If I turn the power off, the next time you start trying to run CHKDSK again, and if I run it or not, same result - start screen, then nothing. What to do next?

The machine is in reverse now - here's "the rest of the story" - pressing F8 didn't work, couldn't get into safe mode. Recovery Console is not installed on versions of our company. I was able to get a couple of our Support service for Office XP installation diskettes - only one is bootable and even through, that's for XP SP1 and I have XP SP3, it worked.

Choose the option to repair install didn't solve the problem at all. Once again starting on the CD, I chose the Recovery Console. At this time, I chose FixBoot and FixMBR. And then when I removed the CD and booted up again, pressing F8 gave me access to the boot with Safe Mode and other options menu. Safe mode does not work - I got nowhere (I don't remember exactly what happened at this point, but it did not help). Which does not finally was the last good Configuration. Once I chose that and rebooted, I had a relatively normal cases, slow start and connection, without the detour by CHKDSK. He has been sluggish about 10 minutes longer than normal, but worked normally since.

I don't see any reference to CHKDSK saves in my shaft system of the observer of events tools - any suggestions on where I could display them?

My lesson learned here - if the system is not broken, CHDSK is going to break, so on modern systems, only run CHDSK when you experience the symptoms that you can't otherwise explain. That had been the case at home on a Win7 laptop, which had suddenly slow, with a blurry view near the start icon.  I had been worried about the virus and horses of Trojan, but a suggestion in the forum Win7 on Tek-Tips pushed me to run CHKDSK, who did to solve this problem. It's a relief to be back to normal!
