  • Storage is almost full - other space

I am a user of iPhone 5 s (ios 9.1). It has been over a year that I'm dealing with a serious problem of storage. Although space is available on my 16 GB phone, my phone always says I have 0 bytes left and 11.7 GB used. When I hook it up to iTunes, 'Other' space is always close to 3 GB. No matter how many photos or apps I'll delete the space never change. I activated iCloud backup too, but nothing changes. So the iphone has been removed all apps passwords and passwords for wifi and safari bookmarks. Furthermore, I can't properly use any application on the device.

Since most of the problably it is due to a damaged on my device file. Can you please offer no possible solution in order to find the file that is causing the problem and delete it. Any other suggestions would be more than helpful.

    Thank you

    Christos

The gesture is to restore from a backup, encrypted iTunes. Try this, but if you have corrupted files on the iPhone, they are likely to be part of the backup and that she will be resettled.

More complicated, time consuming, but full-proof is to reset the iPhone as new and then just sync it with your computer and/or iCloud files.

  • Windows 8.1 with Bootcamp installed in El Capitan. Do not delete with Bootcamp so I used the disk utility. Now, Windows always tries to start with an error, the 'other' space illustrates.

Long story short, I installed windows 8.1 using Bootcamp, went very well. I was just curious how it would go.

in any case, tonight, I decided to delete the Windows partition (Bootcamp Partition), and I got an error in Bootcamp that says "sorry couldn't do Mac OS partition a new»

With that I went to the disk utility and tried to partition the disk on a partition again, which it did, but now I have 40 GB of "other space". I literally have nothing stored on this computer, until I installed Windows 8.1 which was not there.

Also, when I start it up I always get Windows start first if I do not hold Option, then it goes to the blue screen, obviously because he's not here.

I started to recover, tried to fix it, verify, erase free space, etc.. I'm running a MacBook Pro 13 "128GB 2015.

On a Mac of 2015, the disc is divided into a group of logical volumes and Volume for OS X, and a partition for Windows. If BCA fails to restore it correctly, the part of Windows do not get properly gathered in the LVG/LV. The other questions you have, it's that there are remnants of the Microsoft your EFI partition Boot code.

To solve both, the easiest and safest method is

1 backup OSX and all of your files - use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support .

    2. boot into Internet recovery (CMD + Opt + R) - OS X: on OS X Recovery - Apple Support .

    3. click on Utilties-> disk utility and erase your entire internal drive.

    4. restoration of OSX and your files - use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support .

This requires another external drive that can accommodate TM backup - backup disks that you can use with Time Machine - Apple Support .

You need a better tool to show what of really take your disk space, see the following article:

    http://Lifehacker.com/5915508/the-best-disk-space-Analyzer-for-OS-x

That being said, the slow performance may not be due to insufficient disk space.  There are many things that can cause slow performance.  Run this tool and send the report in a response.  This is nothing more than a tool which collects what is running on your Mac and shows all the details.  This will help me to identify what could be the cause of the downturn.

  • Can I reset my MacBook Air and restore the backup I made before to reduce others' storage space?

    Hello

so I have the 126 GB MacBook Air. My problem is that the other takes 87 GB!

So can I reset my laptop and restore the backup later like you do with iPhones to reduce the "other"?

I guess this could work, but I'm afraid something away...

I hope that there is someone who can help me!

    Thank you!

There is nothing necessarily wrong with 'other' as long it's documents, etc. that you need.

Make a backup and a restore just grow what you have now. I would not recommend it.

Another is simply the remains not included in specific lists and includes things like cache files that you don't want to mess with. With a few exceptions, most people who are short of space have too many media files on their computers. First of all, I suggest that you perform a secure - start your computer and hold down the SHIFT key until you see the Apple icon. This restart will take more time than usual because the utility disk program checks the disk and cache files are cut off. Once the computer reaches the Finder, restart normally. This peut release a significant amount of space. If she is not your best bet is to look at the multimedia files.

With 125 GB of storage, you should look into buying an external hard drive. They are fairly inexpensive now days. You must have one for backups anyway.

Thanks You.Longlegs

    Hello Longlegs,

I understand that you are not able to sync a playlist on your iPod classic due to an excessive amount of 'other' data reported on your device. I would like to provide assistance for your problem.

Due to the excess of the 'other' space signals in iTunes, I would recommend restoring your device to factory settings to solve the problem. Please follow these steps to restore your iPod classic back to factory settings:

Restore your device to factory settings

    1. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
    2. Connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod to your computer with the cable that came with your device.
    3. If a message asks you to Trust This Computer or device password, follow the steps on the screen. If you have forgotten your password, get help.
    4. Select your iPad, iPhone or iPod when it appears in iTunes.
    5. In the summary pane, click on restore [device].
    6. Click on restore again to confirm. Then iTunes erase your device and installs the latest version of iOS or iPod software.

Once the process is complete, re - sync any music you want for your iPod and check to make sure that the problem has been resolved.

    See you soon!

You should back up your important files on an external disk

then go about deleting the originals you have double to leave

the computer. In addition, look for alternatives in separate external storage

for libraries of music, video and image in order to keep the small internal

hard disk drive (or disk solid state drive) free of clutter.

There may be an available upgrade to increase storage capacity

the internal drive to something bigger. that might help. To buy

the best advice. Also consider to become familiar with the use of Clones.
