  • Windows updates have eaten all of my c: drive memory can someone help me?

Hi, I begin by saying that I am not a novice on computers.  I have an Acer Aspire 5315 Windows Vista home basic 32 bit edition, total 80 GB hard drive, spit between drive c: & unit.  Over the 3 years Ive had this computer Ive had to reset back to default settings 5 times now due to the performance of the computer questions and Ive realized now that the only problem could be Windows before installing important updates updates my drive c: ability goes down to about 8 GB of 19 GB that cause my computer run slower and more slowly until Finally I have to reset again.  Is their any way I can stop taking so much space? Windows installs all old outdated updates, then it installs all the cant update new updates I jump all the old updates and just install the most recent updates? or can I choose to install updates on the unit and some on the c: drive? Number of points:

    1. first of all, the term 'memory' is used to designate the place where the computer contains the program and data, that it is working with at the moment. It is normally a memory (RAM), but which can be extended with the page or swap hard disk file. The word 'memory' is never used to refer to the space on a drive (if it is a hard drive, floppy disk, CD, DVD or thumb drive). Space on a hard disk is normally called "storage" or simply "disk space".

Call for 'memory' disk space is not so wrong that just unconventional. In a sense, the disk space is, of course, memory, but the important thing to realize is that the word is never used in this way, and if you do, you do so at the risk of seriously confuse your audience.

2 reset the computer to factory settings due to performance problems (or almost any other type of problem) is almost always a mistake. In addition to being a lot of work, if you know what you the origin of the problem, you are likely to repeat everything that you have done that has caused the problem and will soon find yourself in the same situation. And if you did it five times, that's apparently what happened to you.

    3. normally a computer does not work more slowly because disk space decreases. There is probably another reason for your loss of speed (malware infection?)

    4. you can not install Windowsu pdates elsewhere than on the drive where Windows is installed: C:.

    5. a 80 GB hard drive is very low these days, and a 19 GB for Windows partition is also low. There are various things you can do to savesome of disk space, but they are all temporary measures, and will soon be in the same situation. The only real solution to your problem is to get a bigger drive. Fortiunately they are very cheap these days; You can buy a 500 GB drive for about US $50.

  • Resolution of screen of Windows 7 laptop computer rose after updates. Cannot read the menus.

My laptop has a new installation of Windows 7 SP1 Pro who had before correct screen resolution updates have been installed. Today, I managed to install all updates after fighting with a lot of problems with outdated update Agents. Now, the resolution of the screen has increased so that text and on the desktop, the menus are invisible. Among the updates could be for the video driver. Now, I can't use the settings menu or control panel to change the resolution, because the menus show only as tiny arrows. Even the Start Menu does not appear. The command prompt window is normal text, so I can use it for the closing session and stop.

Is there a curse from command line to get the desktop settings? I tried the "Windows"I"suggestion for another post, but it does not bring up the settings menu. And "Control +" does nothing on the desktop.

    Thank you.

MS has probably included a video driver in the list of the optional updates for your system of brand not specified and the model.

You should look at those carefully and decline/hide video driver updates.

Generally, it is not wise to accept updates of hardware driver (audio, video, network), available from MS, and many are the woes of people who (and then have your question).

If you see offered, it is best to diminish and hide so that you do not see them yet.

Here you can see where certain nVidia and Western Digital updates have been hidden:

If after completing your 208 updates of the video is messed up again, you should be able to just push this update of the video driver from Device Manager instead of having to run the system restore:

It might help to check the Device Manager when the system works well to see and note that the graphics card version, this is before making updates so that you know what he looks like when he's not working properly.  Then you will know what is the "right" driver version  After the updates (and before rebooting), you can check the driver again and roll back before restarting.

If you can get only / still at the command prompt (or the run menu), you can open the device like this Manager:

What is this error message that you receive? This would help a lot. From there, a person must be able to provide some additional troubleshooting steps.

get a message that firefox is outdated, but when you try to update the download is the same version on mac os. The version is 34.0.5. As soon as I run the brwswer, I get the update message.

Your list of details of the system shows a user agent which has been modified by the Fast Browser Search (FBSMTWB):

    • Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6. en-US; RV:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 FBSMTWB

You can remove possible user.js and numbered prefs-# .js files and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all the prefs by default, including the prefs set via user.js and pref which is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.

Banks and other sites recently moved to exclude the browsers which do not support the latest encryption methods. The old ways seem too precarious.

Safari 5 is not supported because it only provides this outdated encryption method. 10.6.8 the version of Safari is related to MacOS capabilities and cannot be upgraded separately.

Alternatively, you can put the latest Mozilla Firefox browser, which does not require a Mac OS more later to support it, but won't be available until August.

  • How can I get my Adobe plugin stop to say that it is an outdated version (9.4.5 or less) and realize that I've updated for Adobe 11 a gazillion times?

    Greetings!

My Adobe Acrobat plugin has been complaining and complaining for centuries, showing as yellow and outdated plugin check page and saying that he is vulnerable. Before opening a pdf document, I get a dark page where I have to click to activate the plugin.

Fortunately, the mozilla plugin check page is a little enough to give me a very practical yellow button next to the outdated plugin, which will allow me to update.
The yellow key practice leads directly to the download of Adobe Reader 11 page. I must have installed this guy from hundreds of times now, and Adobe Acrobat plugin still refuses to hear anything and still claims to be vulnerable and obsolete.
I would really like to find a way to persuade Acrobat to be up-to-date.

    Thank you for your attention.

He did not work at first, he sent me in a frenzy of "I just killed my last Pdf Reader", but I went to adobe pages and download I tried several versions, several times and after many trials (the installer would just run and not install anything!) I finally got one. Phew.
    Anyway.
    Thanks, have a nice day!

Hello, adobe has released a critical fix for a vulnerability in its version of the flash plugin, which is apparently already exploited in the wild. That's why firefox will block the precarious versions which run by default on Web sites for your protection. https://helpx.Adobe.com/security/products/Flash-Player/apsb14-27.html https://addons.Mozilla.org/Firefox/blocked/p794

Please update Adobe Flash Player version 16.0.0.235 as soon as possible, that you can download from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html (use the windows exe for plugin-based browsers).

  • The guide to "Help and Support Center" installed for Windows XP Media Center 2004 is largely outdated and must be updated.

I have version Dell of Windows Media Center 2005 (service pack 3) installed on my XPS 600 desktop computer.  The installed Help and Support Center guide date for use with Windows Media Center 2004 and has never been updated to include most of the changes system over the past six years. Dell or Microsoft should be responsible for the update of the guides or instructions that are installed on the operating system. Not only that, but Media Center and Movie Maker themselves also grossly neglected as updates are concerned.
The currently installed Help and Support Center guide is missing details on significant changes to Windows applications and utilities.  I rely on up-to-date information to make changes to my OS applications and utilities.  There is a lot of information in this guide that is incomplete and misleading and therefore not very reliable.
I have an OEM of Windows XP version and I wonder if there is an update of current or replacement for this system guide and who is responsible for the update.

Nothing in XP will be updated. The current Windows operating system is Windows 7. XP is already three iterations of the windows behind. A great substitute for the XP search feature (which was never very good) is Agent free Ransack.
